What a wonderful role model their relationship is and who and how they are in the world. The Bay Area is lucky to have compassionate leadership like this. Also excellent journalism from friend Jason Demers.
His wife is such a wonderful woman, this interview was great, thank you all! Especially Joe for being a fantastic member of the Sharks for so long and entertaining us all those years
As a Boston fan who's heart was broken a rainy morning before school when I heard the B's traded Thornton on the local sports news network, I'm glad it worked out for both teams and Thornton is a damn legend. Got this authentic B's jersey right next to me still. Demers, you're great at this!
I was disgusted that O'Connel broke the Bruins for years with the trade. As a Nova Scotian it was also tough to wait until late in the night to watch Joe work his magic but I did it. I never gave up on Glenn Murrey & the Bruins but I did consider their managemet. poisoned the team for years. Nice to see Joe & his Soul Mate landed on both feet & maintained their gift of smiling no matter what curve balls life threw at them. I sincerly wish # 19 would be beside the other steller Bruins he **BELONGS** with.
Joe Thornton I’d like to thank you for leading Team Teal to its *first ever Stanley Cup championship appearance* in franchise history during *2015/16 season*
That is a very nice thing to say. I’m a huge Leafs fan, We loved Joe here. Austin Matthew’s is a class act, and he said one of his favourite friends of all time is Jumbo. That speaks so loudly. I can’t believe Boston ever traded him. 😊
Way to go Joe. You are a gentleman and a gift to the game. You should definitely be in the top 100 in my books not only an amazing hockey player but a positive role model. Happy retirement and jersey retirement you earned it.
We as a community in Sault Ste. Marie loved to have one of our numerous adopted sons come back for his retirement jersey. It was a special night we won’t forget in our lifetime. One a Greyhound, always a Greyhound. Thanks for being you Jumbo!
This was awesome. Time sure flies. My old family doctor and friend (Dr Archie Grace, we would always talk hockey. He told me he brought Joe Thornton into this world, as he was the doctor that delivered him. He said I brought a great hockey player into the world.) Loved watching Joe play, was great having him part of Leafs too. Happy to see he has wonderful wife and family, Cheers!
Forever a Bruin in my mind, once you were skating in Wilmington and my daughter hit the ice for figure skating right after (she was wearing her USA Jacket) and you took the time to do a few laps with her. It was amazing, and you were a gentleman and inspiration to a young woman who went onto Worlds.
Habs fan by birth, Canucks fan by family move in the early 70s, and I'll be damned if the RUclips feed magic didn't turn me into a Joe and Tabea fan. Great interview by Jason as well!
Love the interview, Nice to see the incredible love they have for each other and get a little peek into their family life and experiences. Loved JT as a player...very high on the list of best passers in NHL history.
Thank you Jumbo for all the great things big and small you’ve done all these years, and continue to do for team teal. I personally found the game of hockey after the Sharks come to town, it was a sport that without the Sharks I would have probably never played. Know in some small way you taught me through your own highs and lows the game and the detail to the craft. Know too, you’ve been loved by the fans and appreciated, thank you for the fantastic effort, passion and dedication…….raise a cup for being who you are. Much love to you and your family. Cheers Jumbo Joe! 🫶🏒🦈🎉🖖😃
Tabea is even more of a goat than the goat! Thanks JD for the interview and thanks to Jumbo for converting this former NFL fan to more of an NHL fan years ago.
That’s a relationship to be proud of. The entanglement. The support. The bond. Speaks easy how much love they share and bestow upon their children. Absolutely phenomenal!
Well, after watching both interview gotta say a couple things here. First as a Calgary Flames life long fan, I believe they have an awesome Social Media presence & the best Alumni in the league, Sharks you are right there too! This was a laidback, insightful piece on two amazing people. Learned so much, better appreciation of who & why these folks are so respected
Great interview, Joe crying at the end and getting up and leaving shows how great he is. And I wasn’t even that big of a Fan of his when he played. What an awesome life he has lived!
I thank Joe for all his contributions to the San Jose Sharks most notably our one and only Stanley Cup final appearance in the 2015-2016 season 🙏🏼. Can't wait to see Jumbo Joe's jersey retirement at the Shark Tank on Nov. 23 👏🏼👏🏼.
As a german fan of hockey (very long not so much NHL) i don't know much about Joe Thornton 😚 But he an his wife seems to be very natural and nice people 😊 I hope they enjoy a peaceful time after Joe's sports.
The fact they never let go of each other throughout the whole interview and then when Joe seats away something off her left shoulder, speaks volumes about how close they are.
Jumbo deserves everything that woman brings to him. He busted his ass for the fans and his country for years. Good to see him enjoying retirement and loving life.
I recall watching a documentary on CBC I think? It was very early in Joes career and it was a look at his first year in Boston after being drafted 1st overall. There was some early struggles adjusting to the game and a scene in the stands stood out to me. The GM was freaking out on the scout who talked him into picking Joe and how much of a disaster that move was. He was pissed and had clearly written Joe off right then. I recall he played the Stanley cup playoffs very hurt, broken ribs etc and they lost but it didn't matter to the GM. He got traded because the GM couldn't get over himself. Great person, great player, should have won a cup.
T seems like she had a little bit of hurt from San Jose. I don’t blame her. But I’m glad she’s ok with him being there now. Jumbo Joe is a player who is irreplaceable in my eyes. Thank you Jumbo and T!
:20 secs in and I want to say great job Jason at starting the interview with asking joes wife a question first and getting her involved... too many times we see the spouse of said athlete have to sit there like a wall flower and make them uncomfortable instead of involving them and making them feel apart of the "the party"... good job
A Maine guy that loved Joe playing in Boston and like all hockey fans in New England was crushed when he was traded. Got to see Joe play one more time when he played the All Star game in Atlanta. Was the best player on the ice that night. I wish you could have played your career in Boston.

I wish she talked more about San Jose as the community, not her knit picked season holders.

How'd it turn out?? Lmao

LMFAO what a weird thing to say.
Joe is legend.
What a classy couple, enjoy your lives. Thanks for the memories.
Bonus content YES!! Solo interview was great, watched it last night! Jumbo Joe forever!

Lol forever a Bruin 😂 ok bud. Traded before his prime
No…he’s forever a Shark. Bruins gave up on him and the city turned on him.
@@mz4036The worst trade in nhl history
@@mz4036 Sharks are not a real franchise bud. Guarantee you Joe wishes he was never traded.
What an incredible woman. Great interview.

Jumbo is an international treasure that must be protected at absolutely all cost.
nice interview and providing insight how Tabea got from Davos to San Jose. I used to spent every xmas in Davos for the Spengler Cup. good memories
The fact that he wasn't on the Top 100 just shows how biased the list is in itself... Joe is a Legend..Facts

Joe Thornton what a great guy and dad, his wife is absolutely adorable and the last line she said says everything about her!
What a great player and a even greater man.
Joe is the whole package. What an awesome family. Living the dream

I feel like I just watched two carebears madly in love talk about life!!
Joe is a lucky man!...He has a GREAT life, Great wife, great kids, great teammates and great career!...
Congrats Joe!! Always one of my favs

Class act and great Canadian boy!👍🏻😁🇨🇦
What a great interview. Classy.
Oh my gosh, he adores her. That is amazing. Gord Downie had it right. Joe is a treasure.
Missing Jumbo like crazy 🥺🥺🥺

"It felt like a little bit of San Jose, west coast, people maybe not considered or looked at as much" Speaking the absolute truth
Joe found the perfect woman to share his life with. ❤.
Thanks for the mems Joe! Gold medalist for life
Looking forward to retirement night. Bittersweet night, but am so grateful for him to retire his jersey with the sharks!
What a character Jumbo is. I’m a die hard Leaf’s fan and I just wish he had a full season with fans in the stands.
As a german fan of hockey (very long not so much NHL) i don't know much about Joe Thornton 😚 But he an his wife seems to be very natural and nice people 😊

It just took me 2 minutes to fall in love with her. What a sweetheart. ❤
The fact they never let go of each other throughout the whole interview and then when Joe seats away something off her left shoulder, speaks volumes about how close they are.
How In his last year with the leafs was 🔥 in the playoffs wish he had 1 more year with us as a leaf ❤
I associate good proper hockey with Joe. A true Canadian icon..not just hockey but sportmanship .
Likeable couple - He's always smiling
Great guy! Loved the game

Who was the GM
Harry Sinden I think
Thanks, Jason, Joe, and Tabea!
A Canadian gift to the world. He is still a small town boy.
I'm getting old.
Too many memories in the Soo of this shaggy-haired, 16-year-old Ichabod Crane-like character.
Thanks for two great years, Joe.
Demy is awesome. Go go
Demy. Very good interview
T seems like she had a little bit of hurt from San Jose. I don’t blame her. But I’m glad she’s ok with him being there now. Jumbo Joe is a player who is irreplaceable in my eyes. Thank you Jumbo and T!
I felt that too
You know what’s really amazing about this interview? Jumbo shaved the day before.
6:20 - that’s how it is for every family that brings their kid to hockey at every arena across Canada.
Joe should have definitely been in the Top 100 NHL Players named. He was snubbed bye the entire NHL IMO. Great career Joe and enjoy your family now.
Excellent
Never should've left Boston Joe, you had a great future here as our next captain to be.
Going to SJ was the best thing for Joe. He would have been under constant, intense scrutiny in Boston.
Love Hockey! Salt o the earth people!
Although I’ve never met Joe ,Joe if your anything like your dad you are a real gentleman

The pride of St. Thomas. We love ya Jumbo Joe!

Great family
There’s something about Davos at Christmas! Spengler Cup, three-and-a-half feet of snow, a gemütliche Chaasfondue after the game, magic!

"She's still doing all the work and I was playing, so it was great!" Aw, that's sweet. Way to marry your mom, Jumbo!

Nice job JD
Good for Joe ...from my father's hometown 😅
Weird my comments arent here! Very Confusing!!

Jumbo, Patty and Pavs absolutely deserve to be on that list. Absurd they were excluded.
