#nhl #chicagoblackhawks #hockey Connor Bedard’s 2nd season in the NHL has been really interesting. We dive into his game & the pressures that come with being the ‘next one’.
i mean i kinda understand why theres no patience. you dont come into the leavue first overall and hyped to be generational and not have insane pressure to perform immediately tbh.
@@BedardTruther98 yeah ngl also with the amount of money he’s prob making and expectations and his junior career did showcase he should be a superstar rn
@@TheEpicEndermanTV bedsy’s a 19 year old kid who has the weight of an entire fanbase on his shoulders. we see slumps like this constantly. its part of the game. bedsy’s gonna be fine.
He also has the 3rd highest points per game among all players under 20 since the lockout. Kane was at 0.88 ppg, Stamkos was at 0.88 ppg and Bedard is at 0.87. He’s not doing as great as some were expecting but he’s not doing poorly either
That's because he gets some of the most ice time of any player in history. Anyone with that amount of ice time would have a good PPG. That said, his points-against per game is the worst in 30 years of rookies.
Seriously this - just watch 2 years later we’re gonna have titles like Bedard is Torching the League and no one can’t stop him. Give the kid two good ljnemates a solid blue line and a goalie that can stop most pucks - he will give back to the organization tenfold. Perpetually pissed off Sharks fan here
Biggest issue is linemates. How can anyone do much when their linemates have career years of 16 points and 25 points prior to playing in a team with Bedard. Talking about Reichel and Kurashev
Lemeaux had zero help in his first couple years and was breaking records. With exception of one or two players they don't put up tbe numbers till they are 21. So risking major injury these 18 year olds jeopardize their career.
@@DavidSmith-wd7wc Lemieux played in a very, very different era. And, with all respect to Bedard, Lemieux was the most skilled player in history. Bedard isn't to that level.
You are correct. There's a lot that could be analyzed and broken-down but in a nutshell, Bedard has a superstar future because he has the three qualities that the highest level players all have: talent, work ethic and hockey IQ. His handicap is his team. I suppose if the Blackhawks never improve, he might flounder but even in that scenario would probably get traded at some point and revitalize his career.
Also saw no one pointing out the World Championship where the coach stopped playing him at one point. I feel like this could have had an impact on his confidence. Fuck coaches like that, honestly.
@@esperago It's Chicago, they'd probably trade him for a couple fifth round picks and retain half his cap. They just fired their coach, but he didn't sign a bunch of third and fourth liners... Chicago said they were after young talent, so they traded away guys like Hagel. Chicago has brain damaged management.
I hate the Blackhawks, but he's young and most likely going through the sophomore slump. The kid will rebound and have a great career with Chicago or even with another team.
@@dans_world21 massively agree. however we have talent developing in the farm system and are on pace for another high draft pick. i’m hopeful for the next few years. who knows? maybe soon we’ll be debating Bedard vs McDavid for best player of the 2020’s.
The problem isn't Bedard or his teammates. The problem is the media and the hype. Eliminate most of the the media hype about being a "generational" player, and things are fine. Yes, Bedard needs consistent, quality linemates, but he didn't have great linemates last year, and he did great. Like a lot of others who have commented, I believe Bedard is going to be fine. Part of his problem is that he is just a really nice kid who feels responsible. He is probably frustrated, embarrassed and lacking in confidence right now. I would melt in his situation. LIke you said, be patient and all will be well.
He's 19 and he's essentially playing shorthanded the entire game. If he gets to another team or the Blackhawks start building an actual NHL team he'll be fine.
Worth noting how strong the Bedard has been with Teravainen/Bertuzzi vs when he's with Hall/Kurashev/Mikheyev. The Teravainen-Foligno-Bedard line had a 57.1 xGF% as a line and it's the most common line Bedard has been on (84 minutes together). Among lines with 80+ minutes together, that's the 28th best forward line out of 83 this season. The 2nd most common line is Kurashev-Bedard-Donato which has spent 43 minutes together and has a 46.3 xGF% - good for 167th out of 223 (min. 40 mins as a line). Bedard is actually playing quite well but he isn't at "carry a line" level yet. It's hard to do that in the NHL, especially when your traits are skill and not athleticism. It's harder for him to perform individual efforts the way that McDavid and Mackinnon did as rookies but he still might be more skilled as a player, especially considering he has the best shot from a rookie since Matthews.
@@BedardTruther98 Bedard will add some more size with age and may even still grow a little and his shot could get some more whip but even still, Matthews is working with a filled out 6'3 frame so its not a fair fight 😄
@SheffyLee yeah i agree with you there. i feel like if he fills out he’d be lethal, he’s already good and compensating for his size with his speed in my opinionZ
Sounds like a personal problem. Every so called generational talent, that actually turned into a generational talent dominated. Bedard is an average player. I'll be amazed if he ever breaks 100pts.
Watching Bruins game and Hawks D is atrocious on breakouts. Hawks often enter O-Zone flat-footed. The talent he plays with is ECHL quality playmakers. He will excel I believe with a talented D core. Celebrini is a completely different type of talent. Both are elite.
I feel bad for Bedard as a person, but Chicago gets what it deserves for tanking. They tanked so well that they can't figure out how to win anymore. Even their AHL affiliate isn't doing well, they don't have talent coming from the pipeline.

As a Blackhawks Fan. I see huge swing for him in the future. I see this as the hardest time he will have for his entire career. The bounce back potential for him and therefore the Blackhawks is huge. Be it next year or the year after the Blackhawks are going to come out this slump in a big way!

@@BedardTruther98 If he was really a "generational talent" then we wouldn't be having this convo. Check out Crosby and Ovi in their rookie years. Real generational talents make their teams better. Bedard does the opposite.
It turns out when play for a team that sucks you won't have consistent success. Shocker. Bedard will no doubt still rebound and hopefully the Blackhawks will too because we know for a fact he is GOOD.
You can’t build a franchise around ONE single player. He needs a good team to support him. The reason Sid rose up the way he did is cuz the penguins don’t completely suck. They have some solid players. The hawks management will either realize this and build their roster or bedard will develop for a few years and then look to trade to a winning team.
Literally take any of the other super stars or generational players and #1 pause development through covid and #2 put them on the current Chicago team and they won’t have a great start. We live in a reactive society that likes telling other people they were wrong.
Everyone called Jack a bust. Go to the Prudential Center now and it's a sea of Hughes jerseys. I counted 15 in a row the other night before I saw a different one. And I wasn't counting the one that I was wearing. My point is give him some time to develop. He's 19.

Give it a couple of years. Enough juice and iron will do the trick. Some players have done it too much though, which has made them slower, so it’s a very fine line.
sure, it is, especially when you focus his goods, but not much on his bads, because even his bads gets an * - his bad faceoff stats is due to his lack of experience? yeah right.. he is 5 foot 9 and he sucks at faceoffs, thats's the reason. that said, i think he is a good young skilled forward, who'll score 70+ points regularly.
From Chicago, I think Bedard is going to be a good NHL player - TOP 6 for most of his career. But, i dont see him being a superstar like Kane was. Which, is okay. Give me a serviceable 15 year career with about a point a game and im happy.
I mean it's reasonable he wouldn't be, he's definitely going to be a superstar, but he won't ever hit Kane's level of stardom. He's known as the greatest American to ever touch the game for a reason.

He is going to be an insane player but on the level of McDavid or Sid? No way. Kane might genuinely be the best comparison as to what he could become.
@@brandona9326 not really, Conner is still and can be as good as McDavid. It’s just there is no goal support and the Hawks are still in the rebuild. The league did what exactly they did with Mcdavid. Give the kid a break. He’s in his second season and we’re thinking that he should be in his prime.
@@Stzu-s2bt55 I am giving him a break but no, he's nowhere near McDavid and never will be. It's this thought that puts him in such a spotlight and I have no idea why anyone thought this in the first place.
He’s not coming on as strong as Crosby, oveckkin or mcdavid who established them selves as top NHL talents within their first/second seasons. No need to worry, doesn’t always happen as fast but it will happen. He might have a good weekend/game and suddenly be over 1 point per game this year. He might go off the second half and challenge the league leaders, I wouldn’t be surprised. His start isn’t really that bad, everyone is overreacting. The supporting cast looks pretty decent on paper but hasn’t materialized. I stress patience, his future is bright in hockey
@@sethking4311 mcdavid is more than generational. i had people who never followed hockey before asking me about him. he’s a once in a millenium player.
I will stay by my statement that Celebrini is doing well in part to his prowess of hockey but the fact that Grier has put competent linemates with him- as soon as Celebrini was put along side Eklund and Zetterlund his point streak started, Bedard must have support to be successful. Bedard himself is a bonafide super star his teammates however? Pylons 99 percent of them.
Hey man I'm a Sharks fan too, bet let's not act like Celebrini isn't a huge reason players around him are playing better. The team, baring a couple of players is the same from last year, the one that had the literal worst record in the history of the NHL, that, and the sharks went on a 8 game losing streak without him. Great players make the players around them better and themselves. Bedard still has decent pieces and veteran presence. Look at last year. Chicago was the same team and was also trash, and didn't have Bertuzzi and Hall in the line up and Bedard put up 61pts. I think it's more about protectable leadership or lack thereof.
@ oh definitely Celebrini is a huge factor but the fact he has similar age linemates with offensive upside is a massive boon to him, Eklund and Smith are just better with him and Granlunds resurgence is boost as well, Chicago doesn’t have that oomph in their line up
Mcdavid could do it. Doesnt matter who you put him with. Stop making excuses. Im with most people on this site. He might 100 points. Thats if he doesnt get injured
@ yeah for now but look at Mackinnkns number in his year one and two - look each player has their breakout, I think everyone wants a McDavid or Eichel level of improvement when really that’s just not tenable, each player grows at different levels
Dude there was certainly instances where this was true, but the NHL wants to market this player, and they haven't really gave him more coverage than mcdavid. The glazing narrative at this point is total bs
As a Blackhawks fan, I entirely agree. I would love to see Bedard getting better and growing into the shoes that were placed before him, but the Blackhawks as a team aren’t really doing that. The Hawks need to stop the line juggling and focus on bettering all of our young talent and allowing them to grow instead of trying to jam pieces together to make offense. I look forward to the future of this team and I can’t wait for all our young talent to grow
I don’t think there’s a lot “wrong” with Bedard’s game. He’s 19. Nineteen. If he’s still struggling 3 or 4 years from now, then that’s disappointing. But now? Any whinging about Bedard is just from media hacks trying to generate clicks, or from impatient, myopic casual fans.
Hawks are still the most disgraceful organization in all of sports on how they treat their young stars. Bedard deserved better than this club that cares nothing about their players
Honestly, after watching Chicago in the Leafs game, I just felt bad for him. I can't pretend to know what needs to change, but the Leafs played pretty bad, Chicago tried really hard and often outplayed them, but they just kinda sucked. Can't complete passes can't win battles. And there seems to be very little chemistry between any players. Down the road, I'm sure this will be good for his character, but there's no way he's carrying that team.
So I'm a native Chicagoan and have been a Hawks fan all my life. I thoroughly believe that a lot of the media and fans are overreacting to his production. Connor does not have the talent surrounding him to produce at some insane level like Sid did in his second year or even Kane did. However, Connor has made insane strides defensively and has shown improvement in his game despite the goal drought he went through. The constant line-changes are something all of us can and are hoping to do without because you have to build chemistry. But if we are able to get that second piece like Kane and Toews, McDavid and Draisaitl, Ovechkin and Backstrom, etc. all of this "He's overrated" will go away. We are not built to win right now and tho are prospects are really good, I don't think there is one that we can slot in with Connor and have that crazy connection and chemistry. Will they be good, yes, but maybe not insane. In the end this season is just a stepping stone, we are getting another top 5 pick and we will either draft someone who can play with him like that or sign someone who can. But Connor will still be our points leader and still finish the season with 20 goals. Hell he's already improving, look at his playmaking. He's been insane with setting up the ever-changing rotation of line-mates and generating offense for other players. So to be honest let them call him crap and draw wild comparisons because in 2 or 3 years, hell it could even be next year or at the trade deadline. We are going to find that piece that clicks And with our prospects and keeping players like Tuevo/Bertuzzi and our young defensemen (Who are going to be crazy if they keep developing well like they have) our team is going to be a force for another 5-10 years. And all of those people who want to point at his stats and laugh are gonna hate how good the kid is. Connor may have not improved to his liking, but watch him closely on the ice and you'll see the difference he is making. Plus a lot of our losses have been extremely tight up until the 3rd period where they score an empty-netter because we can't score in the third as a team at all right now. But hey despite being last at the moment, we should theoretically be a hell of a lot worse point wise. No need to overreact, our time will come and a lot sooner than most expect it to
"or even Kane" Kane in his 2nd year had 9 goals in 16 playoff games including a hattie vs Luongo in a clinching win. His 3rd year was 1st team all NHL, had a huge playoffs, and won the Cup w an OT goal to become the youngest #1 pick to win the Cup. Kane and his legacy are far greater than most commenters seem to realize. He did things no one else has ever done.
@@paulwt9783 exactly. Kane is known as the greatest american hockey player for a reason. you couldnt go to chicago without hearing his name in the 2010’s. He’s easily what Jordan was to the Bulls for the Blackhawks.
team building and coaching might be a major part here. take it easy on the kid. not to mention the weight of trying to bring back the Blackhawks to contenders. And not just contenders, but also brighten the future of what is a dark history during that short time at the top.
lmfao this insane comment. "short time at the top" The Blackhawks dynasty made 9 straight playoff appearances; in the first they went to the WCF; in the last they were the #1 seed in the West. They went to 5 WCF in 7 years, won 3 Cups in 6 years. If the Hawks dynasty had a "short time at the top", which team in the cap era has not had a short time at the top? They dominated the entire era. They aren't the Kings or Lightning. Hell, their first and last Cups were more spread out than the Islanders dynasty. And "a dark history" is the funniest libt@rd nonsense I've ever seen. The Blackhawks dynasty is the brightest part of modern NHL history. It's the biggest best thing the NHL has ever had. Ratings, merch, views, likes, subscribes, attendance, they dominated all. They were so big that the three biggest stories since the dynasty are 2 scandals involving it and Bedard, sent there by the league in the vain hope of repeating it (and forcing out the dynasty legends to do so).
Michkov is better than both. We'll look back and it'll be clear Matvei should and would have gone 1st had other teams known they wouldn't have had to wait for him.
Statistics never ever tell the whole story. Watch him play. He is not struggling. He is a great hockey player and shows as much every single game. He will be a big star in this league (already is) and he is still a teenager (second youngest player in the league).
Bedard's current situation in Chi-town is a timely reminder about how hockey is still a TEAM SPORT, and we cannot expect a single player (no matter how awesome they are on the ice) to carry everyone!
Bedard will be a stud. Celebrini will be a stud. I don't get the point of HAVING to make which player is "better", the Hawks were GARBAGE last year and the signings doesn't make them better. Overall he will be A-OKAY.
Exactly dude , I don’t like when people compare Bedsy vs Celebrini, they will both be superstars and they are entirely different and players the comparisons don’t help at all, I’m a Hawks fan and I know that Celebrini is a young superstar and so is Bedard
@@sethking4311 Celebrini and Bedard will go down as two of the best forwards of the 2020’s. I think that Bedard is going to be better over all once he fills out his frame a bit more and learns to be more of an explosive player.
I think it's funny that people say he's overhyped and basically say people overreacted to how good he was in the WHL then turn around and overreact to him having some growing pains being a young player on a bad team. People who say he won't at least be an elite player seem jealous their team didn't get him, so they just want him to fail. And I'm saying this as someone who HATES the Blackhawks.
He was cut some slack for being the 'new venom', but other players aren't laying off and giving him a pass like this year. I'm sure he's a good kid, and extremely talented, but he's small and playing with a lot of experienced adults. And Brock Faber should have won the Calder, he was more valuable to his team, and is playing well above his age. Bedard was anointed by the NHL powers that be.
He’ needs a true goal scorer on his line and some big guy to lay the hits but still offensively minded tho. Kid has talent just need a break out year with a solid team
IMO, Chicago's problem stems from the Coach who can't figure out strong lines, offense and defense. Mrazek....not a #1 goalie (sorry it's true), and why the hell did Chicago let Kane go when Bedard was coming???!!! Bedard is crazy smart (and still learning the NHL), he's young, he'll get better, but Management has to build a team to support him, which sadly, they haven't yet.
@BedardTruther98 hey don't get me wrong, I was a Chicago fan when the had Belfour and Roenick. I think there's better coaches out their than Richardson who could rebuild way faster
@@jok3rbreaks I don't disagree, but given what we've been seeing from them in acquiring prospects and developing them in the AHL, He's definitely going in the right direction.
As a HABS fan that is one thing that has frustrated me about this season is the inconstant lineups. Last year they had a top line that was very successful for the first time in a VERY long time and they just busted it up this year. And it's been a constant merry go round all year. I can't see how all these young players can improve and develop when they have no consistently or familiarity to depend on from their teammates. I don't know what MSL is doing anymore TBH but it's not working. They are taking a step back this year after two years of slight progress even with devastating injuries to overcome.
I think Mitchkov is going to be better. For the record, I’m a Panthers fan I have no dog in this hunt. I watch a lot of hockey though, every game I can, and Mitchkov just looks scary good. I’m happy to admit I was wrong in a couple years tho, I hope they’re both beasts.
It's so easy to say that shit though when Philly has a semi competent NHL team. It's very easy to look good on mediocrity. It's very tough to when your team is that bad.
@@cockandballtortureconnoiss2643 You have a point but that’s two players and don’t forget Keith was drafted and Seabrook. Bedard is a huge boost to our rebuild but it’s drafting and developing young players that can be very important pieces for the future. In about 2 years then we’ll complete for the playoffs.
The rookie who made the most impact on his team by far was Dale Hawerchuk. He turned a previous dreadful 9-win Jets season into a .500 season, winning the Calder that year.
They simply don’t have anyone with any skill for him to play with. They brought in Bertuzzi and Teravainan specifically to play with him and Bertuzzi has been awful. Teravainan has been ok but both those guys are middle six wingers that were better on other teams because they were loaded with offensive talent. Taylor Hall would be the obvious choice for a linemate but he’s coming off major knee surgery and is only now getting comfortable. Hawks have some good talent they’ve drafted but they probably need an elite offensive winger to seriously compete. If they stink it up for the rest of the year then they can probably draft that winger but Davidson has to bring in some elite offense to complement Bedard and help him develop. If I were the Hawks I would way overpay Marner in free agency. Marner might do it to play with Bedard, especially if the Leafs collapse again.
Am I the only one who wonders why he isn't a winger where his size wouldn't hurt him as much and have more stamina on the offensive end to finish. Defensively he could me more opportunitistic moving to wing as well.
Chicago doesn’t have a single elite C Their best center is Dickinson but the problem is that he’s a defensive forward and is used to shut down opposing players while not being very good on offense. By putting Bedard with Dickinson, he’s being forced to play a shutdown role which is bad because he’s a defensive liability and hinders his offensive ability
McDavid came into the league on an equally shitty team, and dominated. Bedard is not a generational talent. He will be an average 60-70pt guy his entire career. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but he's no McDavid/Crosby/Ovechkin like everyone thought he was going to be. I'm still amazed Michkov was taken 6th, he is going to be way better than Bedard.

"The Blackhawks aren't a solid defensive team. ".... that's what the Hawks are good at. They can't score. They lose games 2-1, and 3-2. If they lose 4-2 its because of a ENG. Their defense has been very good, and Goal tending has been great.
The ownership in Buffalo did NOT care enough about the Sabres (they are more focused on the Bills)! IF they did care, they woulda given Eichel all the medical help he needed! It sucks that the Bedard glaze kind of killed the hype for Celebrini, especially now that it’s looking like Celebrini is the better player overall and was more deserving of the hype all along.
People were hyping him up to have a 100 point sophomore season and now they are calling him a bust for not having 20 goals in 20 games or something like that
@@SharksSJ408 I agree they overhyped Bedard, and putting all that pressure on him to be better than Mcdavid kind of made him lose confidence in his game
I'm a 35yr Blackhawks fan. I've seen it all. I really like Coach Richardson.....but....there is something that isn't translating. I want him to be the man. But we need results.
Watching the Blackhawks game against the Leafs really put into perspective just how trash they really are. Staal, Maroon and Teravainen were basically the only 3 players on their roster who looked like genuine NHL players out there that game. Bedard had the occasional flash as well, but he seems to be extremely light on the puck so for most of the game he was kind of invisible.
It’s pretty simple really…Bedard is still incredibly young and is going through growing pains. He should develop just fine, even if it takes a bit longer than expected. Also, just because he may not end up as good as Gretzky, Jagr, Crosby or McDavid doesn’t mean he won’t still be a really solid player.
Ill add to it. He doesnt have breakaway speed either so he gets bullied off the puck all the time since average defensemen are always right next to him.
Honestly I think bredard needs a “Logan coolie” on his team, another young prospect that he can grow with on the offensive line and feed him the puck but also draw the defense to him. kinda like toews and Kane at the start of that dynasty, I know toews wasn’t a sniper but him and Kane were lethal together, and they were both young and grew their games together at the same time. I also think the should have resigned Kane to teach Connor. Both small guys, number 1 overalls, both had lots of expectations to preform, he would have been the perfect teacher and been a great passer to let Connor get off his shot. Also having Seth jones on a 8.5 or 9.5 (don’t remember the exact amount) mil contract was a dumb idea for the hawks, I never saw him being worth that kind of money but when you gamble sometimes you gotta loose I guess.
if all the hockey pundits state that he is the best prospect since mcdavid, is that not a unrealistic expectation to have of bedard that he produce per this projection? otherwise, perhaps they have overrated him?
@@arihia45 it’s unrealistic. He’s lived up to his expectations. He easily won the Calder and so far been the point leader for his team even missing 15 games and thats with the teams he’s playing against knowing he’s the only real threat on the team, shut Bedard down and you most likely win.
@@bobdobalini winning the calder does not equate to living up to expectations. That is going to take another few years to come to that conclusion. @@arihia45 Full agree. There have been three generational forwards in the cap era: Ovechkin, Crosby, and McDavid. They were WAY better players than Bedard in their first two seasons. Bedard was a generational producer in juniors. His average size/speed/strength doesn't project to generational in the NHL.
It is surprising because you saw so many great things from him last year even with that serious injury. Expected a big step forward this year. Maybe that wasn’t fair with the talent around him.
i remembered getting vilified and insulted by many on social media when i stated that bedard will have difficulty dominating at the NHL level due him being undersized and not having overwhelming explosive speed to give him separation during 5 on 5 situations. I thought he would be perhaps a decent player scoring between 85-90 pts per season at his peak and participating in several all star games, but never close to generational as many in the hockey world had predicted. I maintain my opinion, and hoping i am wrong because i wish him all the success, i am far from being a hater, but this is just what i saw with him coming out of junior. Peace.
At least someone else can see it. Don't understand how everyone thinks he is going to be amazing at his size and strength. Hope he can be good, but superstar, not a chance
Great call. Even if you watch his age 16 videos compared to McKenna, McKenna has clear physical advantages of size and speed over Bedard at 16. I do not think a single "generational" talent exists without some physical traits way over average NHLers. Bedard is simple too limited physically.
@@jfkst1 yup., spot on. I cant understand why no scout didn't bother to mention this prior to the draft. I guess the NHL wanted desperately to market him as 'the next one",,,,
Give other teams some credit. They’ve seen Bedard on video and live. Other teams have figured out ways to defend against Bedard. Part of Bedard’s growth will be making changes to his game to keep other teams off balance. As a Red Wings fan I don’t mind see the Blackhawks struggle. However, the NHL is a better place with Conor Bedard in it and I enjoy watching him. I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of player he grows into in a few years.
He will never be a superstar. He is too small and doesn't have the strength, or guts to get the puck. Not saying he isn't going to be good, but a superstar, this kid is not, and once people realize this, the pressure will lessen, and he will find his game. But, get him off the Hawks, and put him on a good 2nd or 3rd line somewhere, and he will do good
His combo of size, strength, and speed is very average. Can't create his own offense consistently enough to be an all time great. I still think he'll end up elite, but not generational.
For everyone ready to give up on this kid already and cant see a pure talent that is surrounded by gaebage, send him to Pittsburgh. We will gladly take him here. This kid will lead the NHL in points one day. Might be 3-4 more years but he will be constantly in the top 5 in scoring.
so stupid that people expect a 19 YEAR OLD to be amazing right off the bat it’s absolutely insane that the lack of patience for really young rookies to develop reallly annoying tbh🤦🏼
I wonder how much of his struggles at the dot have to do with his stick flex being so low. He’s not the biggest guy to begin with and having a very flexible stick probably doesn’t help.
People said the same about Jack Hughes because he took a couple of years to develop.
There is absolutely no patience nowadays.

You are correct. His handicap is his team. I suppose if the Blackhawks never improve, he might flounder but even in that scenario would probably get traded at some point and revitalize his career.

I didn't really care until the league marketing department started glazing him.
No need to overreact, our time will come and a lot sooner than most expect it to
It's quite painful to watch right now. 2018-2020 was the end of chip and chase and now we are back to it.

People who say he won't at least be an elite player seem jealous their team didn't get him, so they just want him to fail. And I'm saying this as someone who HATES the Blackhawks.
I think both are going to be great. Chicago and San Jose got their man.
Kid has talent just need a break out year with a solid team
if bedsy would be with a better team he would be twice as better
Exactly dude, I bet even if Chicago had Mcdavid they would still suck becuase they are basically are farm team right now
@@sethking4311 Uh, McDavid played on one of the worst Oilers teams ever, and still dominated. Keep huffing the Bedard copium.
Guy Lafleur did not blossom until his fourth season, he was fairly good after that.
IMO, Chicago's problem stems from the Coach who can't figure out strong lines, offense and defense. Mrazek....not a #1 goalie (sorry it's true), and why the hell did Chicago let Kane go when Bedard was coming???!!!
Bedard is crazy smart (and still learning the NHL), he's young, he'll get better, but Management has to build a team to support him, which sadly, they haven't yet.
the coaches jobs right now are just to get us through the rebuild.
@BedardTruther98 hey I hope your right! Would be a waste seeing Chicago remain in the gutter with his skills, time will tell
@@jok3rbreaks well if it makes you feel any better, their prospect pool is ranked #1 in the NHL right now. I have faith.
Remember when Chicago was nearly last from '03 to '06 ...then the got Toews and Kane, yeah
Critics need to chill
Kane and Toews were better than Bedard by their second years
@@cockandballtortureconnoiss2643 You have a point but that’s two players and don’t forget Keith was drafted and Seabrook.
Man, people love piling on Bedard these last couple of weeks.
Yeah, he is 19 and he is leading an NHL team in points, give him a break, many superstars have taken years to fully pan out
not one of those people actually knows puck lmao
@@JessicaVandal exactly
Connor Bedard will get out of this adversity i know he can
Yes he will, he just needs time to mature his game, and many superstars in the NHL have taken many seasons to fully pan out and meat full expectation
@sethking4311 very true Seth Glad he scored the other night but yes i agree with ya buddy
Am I the only one who wonders why he isn't a winger where his size wouldn't hurt him as much and have more stamina on the offensive end to finish. Defensively he could me more opportunitistic moving to wing as well.
Wrote that before I watched the video! Lol
Chicago doesn’t have a single elite C
Their best center is Dickinson but the problem is that he’s a defensive forward and is used to shut down opposing players while not being very good on offense.
I heard that Michkov straight up told every team ahead of Philly that he wouldn’t sign with them.
This ^ Finally Flyers have a future superstar on that team in Mitchkov. Kid is gonna be special
@@Nate-vq8wy I wanted the Wild to trade up by some miracle to get him. Kaprizov/Michkov would be a terror in the NHL for years.
@@JohnB-mo4kq That would be a scary line if they made that happen but glad it didnt. I hate the wild (Avs fan) but love watching those two players lol i do like how the wild our competitive and they have their superstar, though. Now i'm just waiting on the redwings to gain their glory back, so it'll be a fun match up against my team 😝
Bedard will never be a star
Big difference from last year to this year is that teams have more tape on him and can game plan against him more effectively.
Bedard is starting his Yakupov arc
Bahahahaha
said this 2years before he was ever drafted. the canadian yakupov
"The Blackhawks aren't a solid defensive team. ".... that's what the Hawks are good at. They can't score. They lose games 2-1, and 3-2. If they lose 4-2 its because of a ENG. Their defense has been very good, and Goal tending has been great.
The NHL needs a Conklin Bedarbrini. That would be unstoppable.
This. I would pay to see this.
Eichel was in the same situation in Buffalo for years
The ownership in Buffalo did NOT care enough about the Sabres (they are more focused on the Bills)! IF they did care, they woulda given Eichel all the medical help he needed! But since they did NOT, Vegas took a chance with him (paying for his operation and patiently waiting for him to recover from it) and got rewarded!
You already know NHL players read the comments
It wasn’t a real fair deal for him. He got so overhyped that people were disappointed
Agree with that. I think his skill set is less projectionable to the NHL than legit generational talents.
You seen Gretzky - Kurri - Tikkanen line playing? wow. That is cool.. oh no. You haven't.. My bad. I calculated wrong. Tyou are too young
TOO SMALL, AND AFTER HIS JAW WAS BROKEN, HE IS AFRAID OF GETTING HIT... THATS WHY HE HAS LOW PRODUCTION THIS SEASON
I don't know which one of them will be the better player, but the sharks will be out of the rebuild before Chicago
The sharks definitely have more talent on the roster, and Bedsy and Celebrini are both elite but yeah sharks will be better team sooner than the hawks
Bedards a bust… hawks should’ve tanked for celebrini instead
Scores of fans on here think otherwise. Fans from all over suggesting that he will eventually be what he was expected to be.
Least obvious casual
Watching the Blackhawks game against the Leafs really put into perspective just how trash they really are.
Staal, Maroon and Teravainen were basically the only 3 players on their roster who looked like genuine NHL players out there that game. Bedard had the occasional flash as well, but he seems to be extremely light on the puck so for most of the game he was kind of invisible.
Celebrini is better & much more exciting to watch!
He is definitely pretty exciting but don’t give up on Bedard just yet
Celebrini has a much better team. Bedard is first in points on his team Celebrini is 6th on his. Both great players and will have great careers.
He's not big enough for the NHL. Skilled enough, yes.
😂😂😂 its funny how they think a 19 year old is gona turn this shit team around as soon as he hits the ice.Thats just not realistic at all
if all the hockey pundits state that he is the best prospect since mcdavid, is that not a unrealistic expectation to have of bedard that he produce per this projection? otherwise, perhaps they have overrated him?
@@arihia45 it’s unrealistic. He’s lived up to his expectations. He easily won the Calder and so far been the point leader for his team even missing 15 games and thats with the teams he’s playing against knowing he’s the only real threat on the team, shut Bedard down and you most likely win.
@@bobdobalini winning the calder does not equate to living up to expectations. That is going to take another few years to come to that conclusion. If hockey pundits are explicitly saying the he is the best draft pick since mcdavid, then you should have the ability to produce regardless of who your teammates are. he has not shown that ability so far this season,
@@arihia45 he had an amazing first year and is struggling to adapt in his second year. the kid is 19. things like this happen constantly.
Best hockey channel on RUclips, brother!

Yessir !
I'ma eat you.
F all you naysayers, this kid is only 19 yrs. old, leave him the F alone....😡😡😡😡
@@listormli7359 agreed, he may be an all star for a few seasons but not approaching the likes of mcdavid, mackinnon or kucherov.
I guess the NHL wanted desperately to market him as 'the next one",,,,
Bedard sucks
But, get him off the Hawks, and put him on a good 2nd or 3rd line somewhere, and he will do good
His foot speed is sub par
His combo of size, strength, and speed is very average. Can't create his own offense consistently enough to be an all time great. I still think he'll end up elite, but not generational.
He won’t be elite
He’s a bust
For everyone ready to give up on this kid already and cant see a pure talent that is surrounded by gaebage, send him to Pittsburgh. We will gladly take him here. This kid will lead the NHL in points one day. Might be 3-4 more years but he will be constantly in the top 5 in scoring.
he sucks
Casual...
He’s got a good shot and playmaking abilities. That’s about it
@@Herrlorddonkoenigczarhis shot isn’t even good
so stupid that people expect a 19 YEAR OLD to be amazing right off the bat it’s absolutely insane that the lack of patience for really young rookies to develop reallly annoying tbh🤦🏼
Faber got absolutely snubbed of the Calder. The Bedard glazing has been INSANE.
Faber doesn't play on the league's favorite Cash cow team.
Don’t you remember. Minnesota doesn’t win trophies. The streak continues.
When’s the video about Sabres playoff drought gonna drop ?
Celebrini's not looking so bad now. Can't wait for the Sharks to figure out their defense
I wonder how much of his struggles at the dot have to do with his stick flex being so low. He’s not the biggest guy to begin with and having a very flexible stick probably doesn’t help.
At the NHL Level I'm sure he's dialed in what's best for him and his game
