We might be witnessing the best defensive prospect since Bobby Orr. Even Bryan Berard wasn't as highly regarded at the same age. The closest is Ekblad but he was projected as elite, maybe franchise caliber not generational like Dupont could be.
@loganmclarry in his draft year, he was considered full of potential but very, very raw. Intriguing prospect, but he wasn't considered franchise quality until after he played college and wasn't considered generationa quality until after he played in the NHL.
A D doing all this as compared to in the past? One could argue it’s a modern coaching philosophy that condones this “type” of play. Traditional coaching teaches “stay on the blue”.. maybe the world of hawkee development is finally waking up.

@@FCMC123 Honestly different roles require different play styles and while all are possible, realistically for defensemen and centers you want a higher percentage of your guys to specialize in defense. The defensemen that primarily go into offense and have below average or just average defense can really only fill like one or two spots on a well constructed roster. The other defensemen that are active in the o-zone typically need to be more two way. Centers can also get away with being more offensive but I think in general they're more and more expected to act as 3rd dmen at times.
