BMC also has opted for a rear hub motor. Difference is that it's not on the Roadmachine 01 AMP X, but on the friendlier priced Roadmachine AMP. Just like the Willier, it's the Mahle X20 system, but unlike the Willier it features the full fat 350Wh battery.

Hmm, that title should say "Our top 2 e-bike systems for 2023". No mention of Fazua (now part of Porsche) or Specialized. How about an in-depth, side by side review of e-road bike systems?
Spent about 500 miles on it and so far so good. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA Pros:1. Very light2. Solid quality build3. Fast delivery: It arrived 5 weeks earlier than expected.4. Easy assemblyJust a few cons but nothing major:1. Cheap tin tubes and had flat on first day... but not a big deal. I replaced the tubes.2. Seat is a bit uncomfortable but that's pretty much the same situation with most bikes.3. Seat post is a bit long/high for a smaller size 48 bike - had to saw 2 inch off to fit properly. The lowest setting is too high. The post locking system does not seem to hold well (perhaps because I saw 2 inch off).4. wheels are not tubeless compatible (from what I can tell)
I think if I had an E road bike I would want other riders to know it was electric! and I am sure Strava would make changes to their site to accomodate them to keep everyone happy😀
Lol who cares tbh. Even if someone on a e-bike smashed the segment record, it’s just a segment record. The fact that ppl even care about their strava records shows how egoistically shallow the larger majority of the cycling industry is.
I track all my Strava rides as ebike rides. I am not that much of a cheater. However, I am only keeping track of miles ridden and not competing with anyone.
At a price of $8,000 plus, damn I would think most of these would have a motor battery of at least 750kw! Cheaper to get a Specialized Sirrus, slap a Bafang on it and enjoy the ride ;)
750kWh is the battery capacity of 10 Teslas. A 750 watt hour battery on a bike would be a monster. I have a 250 Wh battery on my E road bike and that's heavy enough
This bike was really easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
I have a comment to make on these news. Monocycle, bicycle, tricycle all these have in common the same technical components, and introducing an electric motor, you can not call new inventions but only at most innovations. As long as you use the same technical building elements for more than 150 years it will never be a technological elvolution. An evolution in this sense I can call the new type of vehicle designed by me. Now it is just a functional technical prototype of street testing and ready for manufacture. In this way a market can develop by inventing new concepts and different vehicles and as various technical-mechanical and technological.
The mahle x20 has a plastic bottom bracket! Not very durable for these expensive bikes... and these bikes are to expensive for a at 25km/h speed limited bike
Hey I have a specialized Creo SL comp (ebike) and a 2021 Trek Emonda SL5. On Strava I have both bikes listed under the equipment tag. When I ride my Emonda Strava works as we all know it. kom etc. when I jump on the creo (ebike) the app automatically excludes my ride from all segments etc. If everyone is honest Strava will still be great. Also I wouldn’t want to cheat myself as I ride both.
@@blue98jettavr6t How does Strava know which bike you are riding? Are you transmitting the ride data to Strava directly, or are you going through another app? @@gregvassilakos The files your bicycle computer uploads contain what equipment was used. Not the bike, but the motor if you record power or cadence. Manufacturer then reads Fazua, Mahle, whatever else. Though no idea whether Strava really uses it.

It’s still cycling. I am mid sixties and can still ride but my son is mid twenties and I can’t keep up with him on the climbs. This is an opportunity for me to ride with him without forcing him to wait for me too long and we can get good rides in. I don’t have an e-road bike but thinking about it. Prices still too high. But I would not upload times in strava and let people think I am really good when I have assistance.
At 75 years my E Road bike allows me to join group rides and not have everyone waiting for me at the top of hills. The bike is full carbon, weighs around 13 kilos and yes I wear bib shorts and a tight fitting top (we are not discuss aesthetics!). My training stress scores are the same as on my non-assist road bike but I go further and faster and ride in company. The other club members are happy and I sometimes lead the group into a strong headwind. I think that is 'cycling'.
@@marcelleclair4452 I economised by adding a moderately priced friction drive e-assist kit to my road bike. The kit weighs 2.7kg, and the bike configuration is unaltered - it doesn't look like an e-bike, and it works very well. At 90 years old I got it for the hills and it really does the job.
Actually it is. See my comment above. It opens cycling both as exercise and as a group social activity to a wider range of riders. I started riding at age 72 and do regular group rides in very hilly country. That would be impossible without some assist. I do solo rides on a standard road bike, but the E road bike is transformative for club rides. And no I don't make assisted rides public on Strava, so they don't feature in rankings.

Why is that hard to believe? Those bikes are replacing $40K cars.

Weight for Mahle system?
Wonder how the x20 compares to the x35 for power..
1 - $8000
2 - $12,000
3- $8000
4 - Ribble Endurance SLE with Shimano 105 option - $3,100
O.o

Ebikes cost more than motorbikes that are way more complicated, have way more parts, way more safety tests etc to pass....

How do you blend in with that goofy name on the frame. First thing I’d do is cover up Ribble.

Haha, I would rather buy a car for these prices, ridiculous
So now that you don't have to work for the miles, is it time to lose those dainty ass cycling suits?
Sorry but the price of these bikes is ridiculous
Why? Get a standard electric bike stop trying to dress like a cyclist when you’re not cycling
