Who isn't prosecuting the criminals guys? The U.S. has some of the most overcrowded prisons in the world. How does that happen if people aren't being prosecuted?

The tough to crime solution to any problem is just throwing people to ever crowded jails. Instead of giving criminals a chance to reintegrate to society, and reducing the population in prisons.
You can be both tough at crime, but also lenient to first offenders and people who want to return to society.

So we are to understand that there was a person responsible for these shots fired, and the gun did not act autonomously? I'm chagrined.
No bodies, no victims, no injuries. Right after a game, while not appropriate in this day and time, I would call that celebratory gun fire, just like people do on New Years eve.

I remember that.We didn't realize how good we had it and how bad it was going to get in our lifetime.
Same in the general Atlanta area. Almost every radio station ran that .
I feel for the officers. 12 hour shifts are horrible - both mentally and physically. It also cuts into any ‘quality’ family time, as they are exhausted and will need to sleep much of their ‘off’ time.
And to think I was working 14 hours a day, 7 days a week when I was retired in 2018. At my last unit on active duty I worked 80 plus hour work weeks. It can wear you down especially when you don't get the rest you need when you should.

True. When we were kids (in the 90s)) we got our butts whooped if we were bad. Now all I see are parents screaming and cussing at their kids and the kids reactions are “yeah your yelling at me again big deal” or worse they start cussing back, it’s a joke. I’m appalled at the words I hear coming out of the children’s mouths these days, the internet poisons their minds quickly.
Exactly - How is that 'time out' working for America? Remember 'spare the rod spoil the child' that was thrown to the wayside? This is exactly what has happened when others step in and scold and punish parents for disciplining the old fashion way. This is the outcome that no one wants to admit to; A bunch of spoiled, out of ctrl teens in training to become out of ctrl, narcissistic adults. Where are all of those child psychologist now that villainized parents who didn't want to conform? Quiet as a mouse.
That is the very reason to hold them accountable. Nothing is stopping a parent from disciplining their kids. But when the kids aren't taught respect, they go and shoot their grandparents and shoot up the block.
Because us parents are the ones who let DHHS create all these rules and say we can't raise our kids how we want everybody always wants to point the finger at someone else but when it comes down to it it's us itself that is who to blame we let other American citizens vote on how laws should be created and then laws get created about certain things that shouldn't have never been created and then it creates this type of Chaos in the world because now humans can't discipline their kids or treat them how they should to stop things like this from happening all because citizens come together and agree on a law that they don't know will make the whole nation react to certain way

So how does a parent prevent the child from having a hiding place for the weapon outside of the home? I agree but the same time you get on your children now all they have to do is call child protection services and get their parents locked up it's definitely crazy the times we are living in today.

So thankful for my small town in the middle of nowhere. We haven't had anyone get shot in over 2 years and the last homicide was almost 30 years ago.

Who comes up with ideas like 12-hour shifts for officers? These so-called doctors of criminal justice the universities are putting out aren't making the world any better. Fact of the matter is it was all simple and it was working until they started mucking it up.

I agree 12hr shifts are strenuous, however, 12hr shifts are standard in law enforcement. Officers assigned to night shift will work the long shift (only Friday/Saturday/Sunday), daytime officers remain on 8hr shifts.
Dan S, I agree. This is ridiculous. Our mayor is non existent on this and her head is elsewhere. Instead of focusing on crime and infrastructure, ect repaving streets, holding property owners of decapitated buildings accountable for not tearing buildings down, and having new buildings built or new businesses open up to revitalize the city. This is sad. No one wants to visit downtown anymore.

Politicians are too stupid to think of spending money on recreation for kids to keep them out of trouble. When I was a kid I lived in a rural area but they refurbished an old firehouse into a dance hall for kids. Every other Saturday night a band would play and parents took turns as chaperones.
Programs do nothing. Been bitchin about programs programs programs for decades. Billions spent. No real results to show for it except dead bodies and stolen goods.

Last night over 27 shots rang out on my block.. multiple gun fights over 5 years from the same house and cops do nothing... neighbors are terrified of retaliation do nobody even calls the cops anymore! I am disgusted and sick of this bs

I've noticed a change in my community too. There have been fights and verbal confrontations. It is getting worse. I've seen a lot of shoplifting too
It won't be getting better any time soon.
At 52, I've been hearing the same solution offered up for over 30 years. Imagine if said solution was actually implemented? Accountability and prosecution... starting with the Parents.
Ty it don't matter how long you work officers or how many you put out here, it's the people. They either minding their own business or making trouble.
That's too late of a curfew if you are under 21 you need to have a 10pm or 11pm curfew on Friday and Saturday nights
But what if you are in the military? You can serve the military at 18th years old. Putting a curfew with age limit is kinda asinine in my opinion. Presence and accountability is what needs to happen.
It's amazing that some kids run straight, keeping themselves in the potential line of fire.

Hold the child responsible, quit slapping them on the wrist when they commit serious crimes. Some parents are truly doing the best they can and seeking help. A child will not learn lessons for what they have done if they are not held accountable for their actions.

And it is a Universal Law that behavior is a programming of a child’s subconscious this starts in utero, and to those that want to blame others and not their parenting(and it’s not that they may be bad parents) but, that the home is volatile and dysfunctional eg. Parents that struggle with addiction, or there’s abuse between Mom and Dad. We have to remember that our children only know what they have been programmed to know and behave. This is a fact!
Under 18 the parents are responsible financial penalties should be considered. Especially down town.

I'm a public safety officer for the city of St. Louis. I was talking to a family from Illinois on that same corner when those shots rang out, they were I'm assuming heading home from the cardinals game since it was pretty late at night and all of them were repping the cards.

I live near that area on N 15th street in a loft. I most likely wasn't around when that happened, but certain areas of downtown STL gets pretty rowdy at night especially when the street racers come out down on Hall street.

Well, when we have parents who don't parent, a prosecutor's office who won't prosecute, a mayor's office who can't secure a proper budget for law enforcement, you end up with overworked and underpaid police, who aren't going to strive to do their best, because doing so just leaves them open to ridicule and death.

I was a kid in the 80s and it was much easier for a parent to limit what kids know who they meet and hang out with etc. with cell phones and computer everywhere now, what this guy wants can’t be under control. What is St. Louis doing with the NFL lawsuit money? Politics have historically held up basically every attempt to make the city better. City “leadership” needs a clean sweep, bring some non-hacks in with some fresh and unbiased viewpoints. Attract businesses to downtown, give them TIFs, like everyone else in progressive cities do…I grew up in St. Louis, moved away in 2000, but my downtown memories are really positive ones. Seems as if it’s gone way downhill.

Was an arrest made? How do they know how old the shooter was? They are looking for a scapegoat. You can carry without a permit at eighteen. We don't know that any law was even broken.
Right. People are really losing it these days. Kids cant even enjoy a cardinals game at night without being blamed for a shooter's actions instead of the shooter themself.
