It's an D major 7 not a Dm7.. It does look like it's written a Dm7 though.. Knowing the harmony of the song and by ear you can confirm it's a D major chord..
There always has to be one... Written transcriptions are just a tool to help you get it in your ear faster anyways. Doesn't need to be 100% perfect to serve the purpose.

Stitt was always more melodic on tenor, IMO. On alto he tended more to the technical side.
