I am a Honda car tech been with them 30 years and will say as a company they stand behind every they build. Although I agree with you on this battle I would ask on price . What would be better cost if you were to add 2 year extra warranty to the Yamaha where would cost come in ?
2005 Honda bf150 on a ranger bass boat. Motor has been super reliable. Normal oil changed and gear oil changes. Tournament fish and fun fish on the weekend year round down south.
Pair of 2008 Honda BF150s on my C-Dory Tomcat. Came with short rigging hoses, no grommets, and saltwater intrusion has rusted most of the motors. I'm currently replacing them with 2002 Hondas.
I’d like to see existing brands battle by size. Like Skeeter ZX150 vs Phoenix 818. 18 to 21’ battles. Also some that are 5-10 year old boat brand battles.
BASS BOAT BRAND BATTLE OF ALL THE RIGS OLD AND NEW, PLEASE 🇺🇸....would love to see this as a series like the over/unders..... longer videos are welcomed too ;)
Had a very poor experience with yamaha marine customer service. I had a great experience with Honda's marine customer service. They took care of me and a issue with my bf200. Been work great ever since.
You said it, 97 Stratos blast from the past brand battle. I have a 97 stratos 282 with a 2011 Etec and I love it. Would love to see someone talk about the boats of that year!
How about brand battle 97 champ 202 elite (yes I own one) vs ranger 20 ft top dog same year ….. love the channel keep up the great work. Ps you hooked me with the return of the champ . Would love to see how that turns out at some point .
I run a 2012 Yamaha F150 on my Stratos 189 VLO. SHe never misses a beat. I just take it to Fredrick's Marine for maintenace every year. That motor convinced me a long time ago the the 4 stroke was where its at.
I want to see a Lund 1875 tiller vs Alumacraft competitor 185 tiller battle. Also Yamaha F90 tiller vs SHO90 tiller. When talking walleye tillers dealers all have their own take on the differences of all four. What are your thoughts?
Pretty sure that boats a gonner. Just guessing tho. The money or time he'd have to put into the restore would cost way too much. Transom was toast if I remember right.
I've thought about finding a boat like that....salvaged or whatever...and cleaning it up best I can .....putting new trolling motor and graphs on it. Then just hanging a 6 hp off the back and using it for a Lake boat for smaller lakes or hp restricted lakes. They are still great fishing platforms. Just takes longer to get to a spot. I imagine you could use it as a river boat...just take 10 or 30 min longer to get where u want to be. Man 30 gal of gas with some stabil in it would last all year fishing. You could sell it to the right person I suppose if u got a lot of little lakes around
Just replaced the stator on one of my buddies old,or maybe super old, super suzuki, lol.the mighty DT-150SS.He loves that old girl,I promised him we would try to keep it going until his wife let's him get something with valves&cams.i been retired from this boat fixing gig since we sold the shop Andy, but there's just some of those old customers that won't let me do it.I even used my old Suzuki SS2 Electro tester for a blast from the past, literally, lol.keep up the awesome vids!!!
@@tebe3240 I have mine on a 19 ft Hewescraft with a 40 gallon fuel tank. I now have over 20 hours on the motor and still have over 3/4 of a tank. You will get days of use on an 18 gallon tank.
Andy, could you please bring a little energy when these videos begin. Lol. I love it. Great stuff. Why does that boat over your left shoulder have a door on it? Never seen that on a bass boat.
So idk if you have much experience with them where your from but One video I would really like to see and I don’t think anyone ever talks about but is jet pumps and what brand is best when it comes to jet outboards. I’m building a river set up but really undecided on what brand to go Yamaha sho, merc pro xs or Suzuki SS.
proppin could easily be options .price and maintance and fuel cost could be also. both are great motors. i think its dealer network and price that should be most important num chucks. that 5 year warranty explains alot too.
I like to see the Astro boats vs javelin boats. Then do Ranger vs skeeter or stratos would be nice. Older boats. There are a few still left out there yet.
Yamaha has a service life on their balancer. So timing belt and balancer on 1000 interval. The only major design change was 2018 they went to single piece intake for gen 3 models. Otherwise the basic design is proven from 2004- current Its heavier than a merc but has a proven track record. Honda has non declining transferring warranty but lack of dealers means you may be waiting a while. On the up side they use automotive parts so local parts store xan have parts or just go a tohatsu dealer since they share the honda 150. Either one is a solid buy. Worked on both, preder the Yamaha for maintenance cheaper parts and availability
Does Yamaha do trade ins on a repower? If you have a Honda and you want to trade up to a newer or larger motor. Honda gives a great trade in credit. Do any of the other manufacturers do that? I d not know that is why I am asking.
Yamaha builds some good outboard motors and I like them but I would never bet against Honda no matter what type of motor/engine. They will out last any other brand over time, yes including Yamaha.
We shy away from doing weight comparisons based off of the fact that we’ve heard from multiple sources that some manufacturers weigh their outboards without harnesses or cowlings and publish that data. Take one guess at who does that? So yeah, we never factor that in
Really like the videos, but you left out the most important aspect.... Reliability? I am more concerned with reliability than appearance, than rigging or props. You can always change out the prop hub and run any prop you want. Performance and reliability should be #1 and #2. Just saying!
Awesome video as usual. Glad to see that Yamaha won. I definitely agree with you that as far as appearances go, it definitely goes to the Honda. I would love to see the Progator bass boat(double hull boat with a 10 year stump warranty)go against another Fiberglass boat. Thanks.
Good video. I own both of this motors They are on the top of my list as outboard motors go. But I think Honda got kicked in the *alls with price. The 2 extra years of warranty is got to be Worth something
I hope every Honda VTEC outboard owner bangs off of the rev limiter like the VTEC car owners do! Haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣
After watching this video I ordered a Honda 150hp drive by wire.
Who wins in your guys' opinion?
I am a Honda car tech been with them 30 years and will say as a company they stand behind every they build. Although I agree with you on this battle I would ask on price . What would be better cost if you were to add 2 year extra warranty to the Yamaha where would cost come in ?
Yamaha but I'd spend the extra and just get the SHO at that point.
That 150 yamaha is one of the most reliable outboards ever made
Very true!
Who's running an F150 Yamaha or a BF150 Honda? Comment below on your experience with them
Blast from the pass boat battle 🤟. But no champion in the battle specially 203, we know you are going give it the win 😂

At my work we have 24 Honda 225s they are tanks people beat them and we’ve never had a problem with any of them
2022 Honda 150 on 21 HydraSports, 360 hours, and engine is a beast. All ocean fishing.
Agree with everything here Andy. Honda does have a nice look to it
Yeah we are really digging the new looks of them

VTEC POWERRRRRR!!!!
What woud you go with for a used outboard for saltwater use
Both are great. My BF150 is 17 years and run hard. Only repair was a trim seal. The trim assembly is made by Showa.
BASS BOAT BRAND BATTLE OF ALL THE RIGS OLD AND NEW, PLEASE 🇺🇸....would love to see this as a series like the over/unders..... longer videos are welcomed too ;)
Would love to see a merc 150 vs Yamaha 150 not the pro cs or sho just plain motor shootout. Getting ready to get one or the other
What older motors if any... are Worth buying and fixing and running?? 90-150 🐎 s thanks
How about doing a test for outboards in the 50 to 90 hp range.
Had a very poor experience with yamaha marine customer service. I had a great experience with Honda's marine customer service. They took care of me and a issue with my bf200. Been work great ever since.
That's so crucial R Kus, we hope that you are a Honda man for life because if it. 👍🏻
got an 06 monarch 195 with a 115 mercury optimax, opinions?
Love all these battle videos! You could put any boating product up against one another and I'd watch. 🤙
Reliability ?
Used boat buyers guide!
What to look for in used boats from various eras. For example
90s/pre-composite transom
2000s
2010s
I agree as well. Having said that there is something to be said about Honda's reliability.

Better use a UNICORN 202. 1995 202 was the best of the 202s. I still own my Unicorn that I ordered June 95

No fuel consumption comparison?
Need a Lund 1875 vs Crestliner 1850 Deep V Walleye boats with 150hp motors ?
Do a show on lithium batteries voiding warranty is on outboards True or false
5 years vs 3 years warranty makes all different Honda win

I think it be better battle if u take take both motors on the water and give a better comparison
1997 Gambler Outlaw 19 foot vs 1997 Champion 191 or something like that would be great
👍🏻👍🏻
What about engine size and weight? That also is a selling point
Opinions on a 98 stratos 273v, also debating size when I repower, max is 150hp. Do I need 150? I’m not looking to be the fastest on the water.
Evinrude etec first Gen 2007 vs another 2 stroke
You got it
Purchased 100hp Honda was cheaper than the Yamaha in my area and I like the 5 year warranty.
How are you liking your Honda 100hp , I just ordered one. Do you always put super unleaded like it calls for or have you tried 87 octane ?
@@tebe3240 I really love it so far it's quiet and uses very little fuel . So far I have stuck to premium fuel .
Just curious I’m getting put on an 18.5’x54” Jon boat , what size gas tank do you have , do you think 18 gallon is sufficient for all day use ?

gotta love the stan potts reference
Love the video! Very true about dealer networks for Honda. Almost none by me opposite side of the state from you.
Yamaha for life that make musical instruments and badass engines!🚤🤯🔫
And amazing bikes
I would agree disagree on the Honda tilt trim. They’re both Showa units, but Honda doesn’t sell any parts hardly for their unit.
How about some of the older bumblebee boats I have a v178fd with a yamaha prov150 thoughts on it please its been a great boat its a 1991
Andy !!!You done boat and motor battle😁but I think you dogging me on the trolling motor battle😜😜😜
Haha nah Daniel! Great idea but we haven't really got any hands on experience with the garmin or Lowrance yet.
Andy, could you please bring a little energy when these videos begin. Lol. I love it. Great stuff. Why does that boat over your left shoulder have a door on it? Never seen that on a bass boat.
That's because it's a car door bro

White river group vs everyone else!!! Comparing 18, 19, 20 and 21 footer glass boats!
I’ll stick with Honda. Better steel, Better engineers (both groups are the top engineering teams world). Have a Honda dealer 3 miles away. 😊
What you REALLY need to do is either go fishing and film it, do a catch and cook, or a top speed run in a champ 203..
Be very interesting to see how all popular outboarboards compare in Salt water resistance protection against corrosion!
