I live in Fiji and we have a high calcium content in our water from all of our coral reefs. I have owned several hondas and the water passages get clogged and overheat. Then you get a hole in the head. I like the engine, just telling you my experience.
My cousin has a 2014 Grady White Fisherman CC 257 Tournament Ed. (Total length just shy of 26 Ft). He’s taken it to the Gulf Stream off the southern coast of North Carolina often. he’s caught countless Kings, Wahoo, many diff tuna species, cobia, mahi, sails, and some marlin. He had twin Honda 150 4-strokes and they have been incredible engines for deep water open ocean/gulf steam fishing
just so you know, vtec is from 1990 acura nsx, then handed down to honda civics then honda accords, several motorcycles used it also from honda threw the years. good video big salee from vtec.
My 03 225 is not kicking in the vtech , 4200 rpms is all im getting , it sips fuel , really its fast enough , but im wondering why its not opening up no more , that wont set off a alarm either will it ?
Honda outboards don't do well is salt water (notorious for rust in the exhaust system that leads to overheating). Also, not many certified Honda mechanics in Florida.
my friend just bought a brand new 20hp fourstroke honda and used it maybe 10 times until we went on a 5 days boat trip and it just shut off and wouldn't start again lol, apparently just an electronical failure, pretty annoying when the thing is brand new and i was there with my 25hp mercury 2 stroke form 2003 and i had to tow him hahah i'll never buy anything other than mercury or yamaha...
Take it from me who is Honda fan...I bought Honda Civic last year with 480 000km...You just CAN NOT HEAR THE ENGINE RUNNING! Enough said...it will probably go half a mil more
Honda is good but on the sea I guess Yamaha is more reliable, I used Yamaha and Tohatsu, Yamaha 25 hp two strokes it’s feel unbelivable torq and power, tohatsu 30 hp 4 strokes also not bad but never felt like Yamaha. Yamaha is my first love ❤ greetings from Türkiye…
*"Honda resale value holds."* in general honda detunes their engines is all whereas everyone else runs their engines at or beyond specifications. People are stupid Honda is not thing. Used to be even better with Toyota not anymore.
They have always had overheating issues!
Tell me more please.
Sure don’t , I’ve got a 150 vtec 2006 runs great and burns very very little gas . Only problem with Honda motors is they are huge and heavy

@@benduea2713 thanks for the heads up man. Would you like to do Zoom call? I would record it and put you in a video. Especially if you have pictures.

He brings a 26 foot brady with just dual 150's out for deepwater fishing. He sounds like a guy that'd I'd like to fish with lol legend!!

In the older BF motors Honda had problem with powerhead issues and parts were also expensive.

Wrong propeller
High pressure fuel filter will cause that also.
Oil pressure issue. I think the v tec is controlled by oil pressure. On a car it is anyway
Where there any block or major changes in 200hp from 2007 to present.
Just got a new 2023 Honda 150 BF. Is there a breaking in protocol?
Yes it is. Didn’t you get a owner’s manual? For my Honda BF100 it’s on page 99
Love my Honda outboard.
Any news about availability? I've had two on order for a few months.
I will check I am in Miami for boat show
@@CaptPeterson I heard from two dealers that the 2022s won't be available until 2023. Really disappointed.
@@pacificcoast101 that's to bad.
@@CaptPeterson They finally arrived, eleven months after I ordered them. I can't wait for the installation to be completed.

Yamaha has those problems
You might as well put one in a car, especially when you’re looking for the five litre.

Selam best motors in Australia is Mercury & Yamaha. Dealer network is also important.
I'm going to stick with Mercury.
Bigger dealer network.
Easier to get serviced.
4,500 hours???
But definitely not lightweight just way too bulky even for a smaller horsepower.
My neighbor had a lb7 duramax with 1.1 million miles on it still runnin strong
Honda new design🤮
Eveeybody is telling me this about Vtec
