- As a cold front pushes into the Mountains, Luke is out for an adventure and this time, he's in a Tarp Shelter that he Built!
Frequent Thunder and Lightning are battling against Luke as he questions whether or not this tent and tarp shelter can handle the wet weather assault in this Wild Camp Adventure.
Get ready for a Stormy good time.....

Great video! I’ve experienced some strange things out in the woods. One thing that seems to be a common denominator is that there is no other wildlife to speak of in the area. No abundance of birds, no real game trails to be found etc. Those are places I avoid setting up camp. The birds and other animals are a sentry. It will often be a lone crow or raven that will call, almost to say… move along, this is not a good place to be in. Sounds crazy but there is something to it!
So true!
Great video. Absolutely loved it. Thank you.
@@Patshesbb
Great video! I agree with your observation about the absence of wildlife in certain camping areas. Nature's sentinels, like crows and ravens, can definitely help guide us to safer locations. By the way, if you're looking for reliable outdoor gear and backup power, I highly recommend the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. It's built tough with a massive capacity and fast recharging capabilities, perfect for your camping adventures. Stay safe and keep enjoying the great outdoors!
Well said!! True on ALL levals
That cowboy coffee was blacker than the Gates of Mordor. Perfect!
So I FULL TIME glamp’d in my 32-ft RV for 5 years on my sons 2-acre property he was renting. It was SO fun. And listening to the rain and the thunder on the tin trailer was so wonderful. I love storms and lightening and thunder very much. Going to sleep with rain pelting the roof is very nice.
I’m back in a home we bought out in the country, and I’m still marveling at the small things like I don’t have to empty my black tanks anymore, and my oven is big enough for a chicken LOL….. I really enjoyed my time out in my trailer in the woods, but I’m enjoying my home out in the country just as much.
This video had a lot going on. Tarps tents storms fires cooking and just relaxing in the green forest!! Love the thunder!! Rain videos are so awesome!! Bring on the spring rains!! Thanks for everything you do!!
Here's a short tale regarding noises in the forest. My son and myself were out camping in the forest. We had audio recording gear with us trying to get some twilight forest noises, like how the birds quieten down maybe a deer bleat or a fox bark. So we were set up and recording. Just like you described there was a loud whooping sound again only one, it wasn't possible to say which direction it came from it was like from all around.. Neither of us knew what had made it. When we were home we replayed the recording and there was no noise recorded, yet you could hear real clear my son ask "What the ******* was that?" and my reply of "no idea" and our conversation that followed. If that was Bigfoot he's moved to the UK. 😉😊
Great episode, Luke. I wonder what that sound was? I'm physically disabled due to an accident, so I get to live my outdoor adventures through you. Thank you so very much. George G. (Australia)
I am disabled due to an autoimmune disease. I've never slept in a tent in the rain.
I think you been in the gym boy ! just remember, the guys with real stamina are lean, with the musculature they were born with, if they worked. Gym muscles are short effort, I have seen too many guys that run in the early morning and go to the gym after work. Who quite frankly can hardly drag themselves round the site during the day !!
Could have been a Buck.
its a bigfoot.
@@gondorianslayer4250 I agree .
I saw a tree 4", broken, snapped like a twig, but still attached, as you were hiking in. Always a sign of company in the woods.
I saw the same thing . I figured he was going to point it out
I'm getting spooked!
I have made 9 bowhunting trips to Alaska, 2 trips to Alberta, and 1 trip to Idaho. Man does watching your videos bring back the memories!
I'm 67 now and thanks to my left knee being jacked up, I can no longer do the self guided fly-in hunts where packing heavy loads of meat are required over very rough terrain.
I wish you had be around 40 years ago, the information you are sharing is priceless to serious backcountry hunters. As a suggestion for younger guys like me when I was young, it would be great if you tested gear that your life depends on it working as promised in the harsh conditions you are kind enough to endure for your viewers. I did tons of research for my gear back then, and thankfully I never had a issue
with any gear giving flawless service for the 2 to 3 weeks I spent afield on each trip.
God bless you as you go afield to serve others and help them avoid potential life threatening failures of gear while hunting literally hundreds of miles from the nearest civilized town.
Thank you Luke and Susan for sharing your slice of heaven with me and everyone else
That green forest floor, fills my soul! Thank you for sharing, you're inspiring. Since watching your show I've set off solo camping and now I'm addicted :) thank you
That's what it's all about 👏👏
I absolutely love your storm videos. They are sooo relaxing
I enjoy watching your videos. I grew up in the Ozarks and lived in the woods. I haven't been in any woods for a long time. You can't pay me to go into the woods. When you have something 9 foot tall looking in your bedroom window when you're a kid it makes you not want to go outside at night or go play in the woods.
Omg that sounds terrifying, could you not see what it was
You could send your story to crypteds Canada. Leslie would love to tell it.
@@chelsealouise3137 It was a Sasquatch. I lived at the end of this road and hardly anyone ever drove down to our house. It wasn't a person playing a joke or a bear. It had 18 inch footprints. It was a full moon so it's face was hidden in shadows. I thought it was going to reach in and get me. It really traumatized me.
@@dash5257 omg that is terrifying, I’ve always been on the fence but I’ve also always thought there are too many stories that are all too similar in description to really deny. Plus the fact we cannot know 100% what’s out there. I cannot even imagine the terror of how that felt thinking it could reach in 😱 wow that’s crazy no wonder you must still have trauma from that encounter. Do you live in a city or busy community now? Goodness that scare me out the woods forever. I’m never in them anyway, I live in Scotland we have the Loch Ness monster but that’s extremely rarely seen.
@@chelsealouise3137 I live in Florida in a small city. After I left from where I grew up I never went anywhere near woods. I sleep with blackout curtains so I can't see out and nothing can see in. When you see something that shouldn't exist it makes you wonder what else exist? Anything is possible.
Can’t help but love the forest and the storm.
Everything else is preset
I gotta be honest. I really enjoy your style where you don't talk for long periods of time and just let us enjoy the sounds of the rain or the fire or whatever ambient noises you got going on.
Wow, what an exhilarating adventure! The stunning visuals and powerful sounds of the thunderstorm truly transported me into the great outdoors. Your detailed review of the outdoor gear used during the trip was incredibly helpful and informative. Can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you!
that intro to Luke with the thunder was badass af xD 0:30
I have really enjoyed your videos.i am just an old country girl who now lives in the city and your videos bring back fond memories. Thank you for sharing your fun.
I'm glad you saw my comment about the forest! It truly is an incredibly beautiful piece of heaven :)
This is one of your VERY FINEST adventure videos.😍 It reminds me that you are also a professional nature photographer. The composition and lighting throughout the video are wonderful. I also LIKE the camp/fire/food system you present here. I would guess that you heard a buck snort in the night.
Yes, and the area is filled with Sasquash markings. Notice the Big "X" center and broken off branches throughout. I know some still don't (or more likely won't) believe such things exist, but neither did I at first. I also believe they won't harm - unless provoked.
@@DCL26 You have a good eye. And yes, unless we are perceived as a danger to them or their young, they most often just leave us alone. In most sightings it's the Big Guy who's trying to movies away from the humans. I've had them come in close before when they felt comfortable enough though. Often they are as curious about us as we are about them. But never had anything negative happen. We're in their home. Respect is the key. ❤RH👣
I absolutely love your videos. The stormy ones are my favorites. I grew up in Texas but have lived in Hawaii for almost 30 years. When thunder storms happen, they’re rare but usually huge. If you guys ever come here to explore, we could suggest some amazing places on the Big Island. Beautiful hiking, food, etc. Thanks for a lovely production!
Ana, Luke said he is trying to come back to the Big Island
@@hokudadog7637 That’s great!
I'm sure it's not the first time The Big Guy has watched you camping, and it probably won't be the last. 😄
Bigfoot is just as curious to watch as we are as viewers
How do you even know about our Homeless Encampments?
yes aha
As much time that you spend in the woods… you’re bound to, eventually, have a very undeniable encounter. Mark my words, Luke.
So don’t neglect to share the experience with us! 😁
Hopefully. I think they’re out there. Maybe he will find one by accident but I agree the more time he spends out there the more he’ll increase his chances but I think these creatures are much more clever, and outdoor resourceful and intelligent, than we give them credit for. Think of what great apes and chimps can do in terms of cleverness but on our level or beyond. Orangutans are really smart but imagine a creature that has a bigger brain than they do and what something like a Sasquatch could do. I don’t think a lot of people are prepared to consider/or can imagine and Comprehend just how there is an ape like creature that understands how to be so stealthy and go relatively undetected. and still has the time rate and reaction time of a champ.
This is a creature that knows that in order to be stealthy, it Hass to get on all fours and stick low to the ground. People think that they’re always going to be sticking out like a sore thumb. But these are creatures that know how to dupe you when you are looking for it in the woods.
It's not the first time he's heard something "strange". In one video, he recalled how he heard something bipedal walking around his camp. It was on the edge of the woodline on a bald.
@@Cyborous there definitely out there. Once you know will always be on your mind, you’ve been educated and if that’s real what else is…
Yeah, no.
Love your videos Luke! Fairly new to your channel but really love watching your adventures I find them so relaxing now that I'm at home with my newborn baby. Always get excited when a new one pops up! Production quality is always amazing too
I watch several channels that deal with camping, bushcraft and gear review. I have to tell you, that the most attractive thing about a man who spends that much time in the woods, is humility. All in all, I think it is better to remain silent and be thought arrogant than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Thank you for shearing the SOUND you heard in the night. Intersting,
Awesome thunder, sounds absolutely massive.
I love your adventures, you remind me so much of my grandson. I hope you and Susie don't mind if I think of you both as my extended family. Susie is a sweetheart, you two together makes what my generation would call a WOW couple😅😅❤.
Every time you fix coffee, we decide --- we NEED a cup of coffee!! LOVE your adventures and videos.
As long as the weight is attributed to added muscularity and not added fat, you're fine. Glad for you that you have adjusted well and can hike just like always up those mountain trails. Thanks for taking us along virtually on these fabulous adventures! That mystery noise could have been a snort from an Elk/Deer/Bear/Wild Boar Pig you just never know. Glad you did not have any trouble.
Not that a persons weight is anyones business.
What a beautiful, magical and mystical forest you have! And it is a Rain Forest! I sense that the Forest welcomes and trusts you. i enjoy your rainy adventures the most. .
Have fun with your son ,while he is home for spring break. :)
Luke: your parental advice is spot on!
Hi Luke, thanks for the long episode and nice adventure. This was a good one. I'm glad to see an episode without a leaking tent! This gave me some solid entertainment for almost an hour. A thumbs up for you as usual. Tell the Sasquatch I said hello. :) S&H
That Whooo is only one thing and that is Sasquatch my friend. It certainly will not be some guy skunking about the forest. Keep up the all weather camping.
Totally relate to what you are saying about the gains after I left the British army, I averaged around 79kg when I took up nightclub security and absolutely lived in the gym, working out for 3 hours a day 7 days a week, eating anything within arms distance, after a few years of that I averaged around 95kg. It literally becomes a full-time job in itself to grab those gains, work, sleep, eat, and gym, rinse, and repeat eternally.
I absolutely love this channel. I was in hospital all last week and think I watched 50 of your videos. Thanks for always being honest!!!
Hope you are feeling well!
I can always tell how far/deep somebody truly hikes not by what they say, but by how much water they carry, what kind of gear they have, and the exertion level they are exhibiting when they reach their "camp". Cheers!
As a new parent, thank you for the solid small bits of guidance in this video.
Of course it was BIGFOOT😅🫣 such a perfect home❤
ALSO hoping for one more Snow Adventure ❄️ this season🤞
LOL! I was thinking that very same thing through the entire video. I do think Luke had company that night... ❤RH👣
definitely spirit in the forest or mountain guardians. Do respect them.
@@lcthen1690 Respect between us is the key. When we're in the woods, we're in their house.
Hi Luke thanks for sharing, the thunder sounds ridiculous I don't like thunder or lightning ,you seem to love it in that dangerous condition stay safe
Your extreme weather fixes makes for some of your best content
That is a truly lovely forest, Luke. I'd love to know generally where it is. I grew up in the Smokies and love those old mountains. But I haven't seen that particular forest, covered in moss, so quiet and surreal. It really is beautiful. Now, if you were further North, I'd say that weird noise was a moose. But as far as I know, there are no moose in the Smoky Mountains. LOL! So, it must be a bigfoot, like you said. What else could it possibly be? 😊
A buck
@@TheWestlandgirl Possibly...but respectfully, I imagine Luke has been in the outdoors enough to know what a buck sounds like. The fact that he said he had never heard it before does seem interesting. And I've heard that same "one whoop" before myself. ❤RH👣
They are there. I research from Alabama to the North Carolina mountains and have had quite a few "visitors" when I've been out. ❤RH👣
@@RockHillBigfoot I agree and being a mountain girl myself in Northern Cali and Oregon ..my parents in the Forest Service, my relatives avid hunting and fishing. My stint in the logging industry I have had and had encounters. A plenty. But not just willing to ascribe every strange sound as one of them. I've heard elk, moose, bucks make noises I couldve sworn were noises from these hairy creatures. I know their sounds. Been fooled myself. Especially the sounds of a woman screaming like she's being tortured coming close to my cabin. Had my outdoor guardian dogs panicking to come in. I let them. Next morning I found cougar tracks. Nothing else. I expected Big Foot tracks. Other creatures can sound like that too. Crazy....
@@TheWestlandgirl Yep. I shot a video for another channel a couple of years ago talking about that. The video is called "It's Not Always Bigfoot". Sometimes a pile of brush is just a pile of brush. A stick leaning on a tree is just a stick. Nature can do some pretty amazing things all on her own. Same with sounds at night. A tiny little red fox can make a sound that will have you convinced that a 900 lb. monster is about to come out of the woods and rip you to pieces. Goats in heat make a noise that sounds like someone mumbling off in the distance. A chipmunk jumping around outside your tent at night can sound like something on two legs walking around. I always tell people to be skeptical of anything in the beginning. But after you've removed all the other plausible things it MIGHT be, you have to face the fact of what it IS. ❤️RH👣
A minor detail bit hail is in the warm months and sleet is in the cooler months.
Many of the shots in this video 34:57, 43:01 could be made into prints, framed and would look great on a wall at home or at the office. Just beautiful nature pictures. Good job, Luke.
I love nature and I love your videos and much love to you ❤
2:49 Sapling snapped at the base where you set the camera (trailermarker). Branches stacked around a fallen tree. Behind you. Stripped trees leaned against other trees. Fallen trees form a perimeter. You literally camped in "their" backyard. Lol
I agree there's a ton of deadfall, but there are also a lot of markers typically found in their areas.
Luke heard a Squatch! Awesome!
Hope to see you over here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Luke!
MEeee, too!
Especially in Oregon and parts of Washington. Yes, I am biased!😅
In WA, myself, but it's allll gorgeous (BC, too!)
Cool camping trip, thanks for the download.
Great video! Your photography is beautiful and the sounds of the rain and thunder - well, it doesn't get better than that. Love your channel!
I really enjoy your videos. I’m a triple crown Hiker. I’ve done the Appalachian Trail the CDT trail in the Florida trail. I really enjoy your reviews on gear from the Lonesome hiker
Dude, the beard and stash are working. you are looking full on bushman. strength and honor.
I've been bulking up the last few months. I eat low carb carnivore so it's easy. I workout generally 5 days a week for 2 hours a day. Love steaks. It's storming here in southwest Missouri as I watch your video. Thank you.
Man, you make me want to start a channel. I am out camping or hunting every weekend, and during the winter, I get laid off from work, and I rarely even take 1 day off. I'm always in the backcountry here in Montana
It must smell SO good out there with the rain, the wet pine trees, just that rich woodsy smell. Wis I were there
Love love love these adventures!!
What a magical forest, you are blessed! And to sleep in a sound tent during a rainstorm would surely be one of life's greatest pleasures. For now I camp vicariously through you!
And I love those little DCF zipper bags, they're cool.
Luke, you are an artist and a fantastic producer!
Of course, he‘s a pro influencer with a huge team behind him.
Love your videos. Enjoy your time with your son. You gave some great advise on family. Totally agree what you said. You can't raise your kids on those books that is published. I am a Grandma of two college girls.

Love the off trail format ! Please do more of those !
I really appreciate the support!

I love the Thunder and rain. Sounds to sleep by.😊
I hope if you ever do encounter an unexplained Creature, that you are brave enough to share it with us. Lol. Love your show since we're not able to hike for the last few years due to health issues, hoping to get back out there.. you're helping us get through this though! Take it easy ... Whooo!
I'm new to here, but I must say; you are a good man. I admire a man that is a great father, and is honest. I also want one those camp stoves! Take care, and God bless
Love storm videos. It’s too bad you couldn’t do a snow camp this year. Dreadfully mild here too.
At 11:56 you can see your neighbor peeking between the trees 😍
Look to the left and the grouping of trees there w 1 big chunky 1... his shiny nose caught my attention. Gotta love em!
I've heard that whoop sound before. It's a greeting...kinda like "I'm here". If you keep spending time in the woods around that area then I predict one of these days you're gonna become a Bigfoot believer...🙂
Yes indeed! ❤RH👣
Y'all are dreaming I've spent years roaming southern oregon hunting hiking never have i heard smelled seen anything that could be sasquatch there is 0 scientific evidence jus my two cents
@@davidbones8947 @david bones Oregon is indeed a big place, which could account for that. May I also respectfully submit that perhaps you haven't seen, smelled, or heard one because they saw, smelled or heard you and your hunting rifle first. These are very intelligent creatures, not just dumb apes. Just a thought.
I grew up hunting and trapping. When I was younger, I helped many people have successful deer and bear hunts. I wasn't a guide. I had knowledge and enjoyed sharing. So I have spent many hours in the forest. I know all the different sounds one can hear in the woods. from Bobcats to Wolves. Rabbits screaming when being captured by a preditor. All the insane sounds one hears with enough time in the woods. I will not say Bigfoot. But I don't care who you are. Spend enough time in the woods, and you will eventually hear something that just doesn't seem to fit. Part of the joy and wonder of being out in nature. Great video. I enjoy what you do.
Bigfoot looking for Luke !
When you are camping and you hear something weird, it is always a SAMSQUANCH.
Luke, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but what you're describing (including the sound only occurring once) I've heard on a few occasions in areas where they are known to inhabit... they being Bigfoot. Their physical evidence is quite prevalent in these areas. Is that rock-solid proof it's Bigfoot? Of course not, but when nothing else fits the bill and there's historic precedence I wouldn't rule Bigfoot out just yet. Regardless, great video as to be expected from TOGR and I eagerly look forward to your next video! Cheers, -- Tom
I don’t believe in Bigfoot but, I don’t denigrate those who do. For those of you that believe in Bigfoot, denigrate means ‘to put down’.
@@MrTurner1973😂
once there's a reputation, the reputation will only be reinforced, so, I dunno.
For a ground sheet, I use a Tyvek 4x7’ with corner loops. It’s light weight, cheap & durable.
Great video Luke 👍
Strange that the noise you heard came out only the once . It's one of those mysteries. Great video, Luke . Fan from Australia.
It's going to be fun watching Luke go through his mid-life crisis. You'll build a gym on Lone wolf mountain. Then do gun videos that include pyrotechnics and helicopter video footage. Susie will get giant implants and tattoos and sell Suzie-Q bazooka coffee. I remember my forties, it was very "interesting" as Luke likes to say lol. 🤘🤙
Years ago I had a Kealty (?) tent I took up into the San Gabriel Mts in southern California. That night there were severe thunderstorms with heavy rain and hail. I stayed dry all night, even though I could hear water running under the floor of the tent! Wish I still had it; it was one of the best pieces of camping kit I've ever owned.

I bring a small ground mat that came with a Coleman Sundome on every backpacking trip. It's the perfect size and thickness for how I use it. I'll fold it up and stick it in the mesh pocket for easy access.
That nature hike stove is reminding me more and more of a pot belly stove just modified and shrunk down
Another excellent video. Thank you Luke. On the subject of weight, I have something to add. I always gain weight each winter. The rest of the year I'm cycling and camping so I get back to what I consider my ideal weight of 165 pounds. One winter I went to 185. In March that year I cycled to Seattle, then bought a boat there and paddled to Alaska. Kayaking is nothing like cycling. It burns more calories than you can ever hope to regain by eating, unless you're cycling some extreme race like the Tour de France, or la Vualta. I lost 40 pounds over the seven months of paddling to Skagway, then back again, returning to the weight I had as a tall, skinny teenager. That was a bit over the top and soon after I returned to something approaching normal. For men at least, weight is more a matter of how much effort you expend than how much food you eat, if you have a healthy metabolism.
Thanks luke to show us your adventure through the woods, im big fan of your videos, keep it up mate
So many outdoor videos begin with Solo, overnight in the rain! OMG, all night, alone and rain? My boyscout troop did that regularly!
I love your tarp camping episodes, as it is my preferred way to camp it really gets me invested!
Nice to see you again, my friend Luke it was a raining night and I can't wait to next video
4:55 brutal! That twig was minding its own business
I love all your videos they are very educational ..Hi to you and Susie God be with you and your family ..thx
You're right Chuke, everyone can't afford top of the line. If it functions reliably, it can't be bad.
The woods look so peaceful :)
Love your atmospheric content! To keep the rain from going under the tent, just fold all the edges of the groundsheet up and under the tent, so the rain doesn't collect on it. Groundsheet shouldn't be visible from above ❤
Good to see you using makeshift setups like this! Some people mock for not having "ideal" (expensive) setups or shelters, but whatever works, works.
Big Foot was the first thought that crossed my mind about the noise you heard.
Thank you for protecting the beautiful natural habitat.
Hey Luke, it would be great to see a video of the before/after the excursion. you know, chasing what to pack, packing and the afterwards, unpacking, maintaining or cleaning the gear, storing it, etc. thx!
The time flies. I am amazed when you say it's time to go. I love everything, scenery, camping, the rain, the gear. Thank you.
You should put the silhouette of that shot of you standing in The beginning of the video on a shirt. I would buy that. Looks very cool. Looks like you don't skip leg day 😂😂. Or make it a poster.
Orange canopy, PERFECT! Everyone wants to be "blending in" for some reason, like they are going to war.....🙂
YET! This is a sponsor whore. Almost everything is new. I'm more than sure that three is three or more people out there making sure "we get all we need"
Thanks for this little adventure. It's like to stay outside in the nature with a friend while I'am sitting in my office....
It’s funny how the ghosts will always attack you. While you are waking up not when you’re going to sleep. That happened to me the other night just as I was waking up between sleeping and being awake I felt something pull on my back gently. I don’t know if that was the reason why I woke up or not.
Great video. The woof noise is probably a black bear. They sometimes make a huffing or whooshing noise when curious or irritated and want to make themselves known, along with bluff charges. Probably saw you camp and had to detour around you. Good way to prevent bears and other things like coyotes, wolves from coming around is urinate at strategic points around your outer perimeter...they don't like it and avoid.
I LOVE that camp chair that you always set up. So simple, but strong
Seriously beautiful forest, the rain and thunder just add to the experience. Great vid as usual
