    This is so crazy. I have the same Truck with that 3.5 EccoBoost. AND this vacuum pump has also started leaking. I can smell the burning full synthetic oil that drips down on that right turbo. I’ve been planning to replace it and upload a video to my channel but you’ve already done a great video! Nice details as usual so far; now back to the video!!..

    Superb explanation and repair! I have to confess I haven’t had a new car in a long time! 😂 Im amazed to see parts like the one you just replaced on a late model Ford! In the past they would just give you all the boost without regard if you would have vacuum assist or not 😂!!! Ford has come a long way ❤

    It works best to let silicon set after finger tightening bolts for 1 hour then torque and don't crank up for 24hours.

    Why replace the whole pump and not just the gasket?

    • @89G
      @89G  10 дней назад +1

      Great question. The pump can also leak in other areas. There is a backing plate that will often leak as well. I think a lot of us would rather just be done with it and no it's all new. You can indeed just replace the gasket, however. I do not recommend using an o-ring though. That's why this one leaked so bad.

    never understood why they have to put 3 inch long bolts for small components.

    • @89G
      @89G  Месяц назад

      They are indeed a bit long. I've heard of some situations when all 3 can't be removed due to the firewall being in the way. You have to snake one of the bolts out with the vacuum pump.

    Nice vid, Ive been beating my head against the wall on this thing for a year now, my factory one started leaking, so I put a new gasket in it, yes, with the silicone in the right spots, soon it started leaking, so I bought a whole new pump with a new gasket, put that in, with silicone in the right spots, and it began to leak, so at this point Im not sure what to try, just been letting it leak, eventually it leaks onto the exhaust and stinks.. ugh
