    The buildings looks so beautiful they really took pride in what they built.

      Kevin Hoppo We didn't expect the buildings to be as nice as they were. We were also blown away by how clean and well maintained they are...might have been for the FIFA World Cup though..

      April and Tim Travel | Maintenance used to be only for big events between 1989 and 2006. That's the period Russia was in a terrible condition. Things really started picking up in 2004, and in 2006 the cities started looking like modern european metropoli again. Smaller cities still don't get the much needed attention as you might've noticed when you were in Irkutsk, but they will slowly be taken care of as the economy gets better.

    5:50 This line is to visit Lenin Mausoleum! 100 years passed he's still popular especially foreing tourists! Open 10 to 13 - just 3 hours in a day excet Mondays and Fridays - that's why people start queing up early in the morning!
    The tourists entrance to the Kremlin is on the other side, and you will need a ticket, too

    • @AprilandTimTravel
      @AprilandTimTravel  6 лет назад

      In SB we stayed at Central Street Hostel - we would recommend this hostel, its ina great location and has good facilities. In Moscow we stayed at Hostel Olimpiya - it was ok here, probably could find better 😊 Have fun!

      One more question - Did you guys buy a sim card over there, if so which company did you use?

    • @AprilandTimTravel
      @AprilandTimTravel  6 лет назад

      @@andy89880 We did. We used Yota, they have a data sim option that is for the whole country. We also used Beeline, but they have data roaming within Russia, so if you're going to multiple regions I wouldn't recommend this. Also, we had to keep going back to the phone store because Yota would occasionally not work. There's free wifi around too, you just need a sim you can recieve sms on to get the access code to use it. We haven't had the best luck with sim cards tho!

      If you will be in big cities it doesn't matter. If you plan on travelling to small cities far from large ones, it's better to use Megafon because they have the largest coverage area

    • @PaulV.
      @PaulV. 6 лет назад +3

      Actually you can buy birch juice drinks in any time of year. Of course it will not be fresh one from the tree but with added water and sugar. Still it will give the opportunity to taste it. It also sells in many European countries and even US by companies dealing in organic food.

      @@AprilandTimTravel oh yes!! birch juice is colorless and transparent like a pure water and have barely sweet taste. nothing special about your feelings when you first try it, but it's very healthy and as authentic russian drink as well known kvass))

      April and Tim Travel thank you! I have been vegan for a long time but when I think about going to Russia 🇷🇺 soon I don’t know how I am gonna be able to stay away from all this amazing food, at least to me it is and soo nostalgic bc I grew up in Russia. It’s much easier for me here in the US to be vegan. When I am in Russia, I want to eat everything 😂😂. What is your honest impression of your visit to this unique country??
