Okay, but seriously, I definitely want to read the Red Rising series at some point now! And also, yay for more progress on FMA, which I’m super excited to experience in manga form before the year ends (I hope)!
I picked up Red Rising years ago and had a hard time getting into it so I ended up DNF'ing it but now that the series is almost complete I might see about trying to read it again! Definitely sounds like one of the best sci-fi series out there.
I didn't love Red Rising as much as others seemed to but hearing the sequels get better and are a little more sci-fi makes me want to pick the series back up! Also love your outfit!!
I definitely agree with you saying "quality over quantity" - that's so true, and I find it kind of sad that so many readers now days are hyper-focused on how MANY books they plow through each month - reading is a fun thing, not a race! So, I read 7 books in April, which is huge for me since I'm coming out of an enormous reading slump that lasted a couple of years. I read: No Country For Old Men; Heartstopper 2-4; The Walking Dead Compendium 3; Berserk DE 12 and Babel. Joe Abercrombie is an author I really need to read! Love your shirt (at least you're not a 'red-shirt' lol XD), and happy Star Wars Day, too - May the Fourth be with you!!! 🙂
I get that! I definitely used to beat myself up about hitting a number of books I want to read for the year, but I find I end up reading more if I’m really enjoying what I’m picking up instead of reading short / quick books! And it allows for a better balance of hobbies like gaming and watching tv! I’m glad you’re getting out of your reading slump!! And happy May the Fourth to you too!
Ahhh I love them all!! It’s so hard to pick a favorite! But it’s probably a tie between Jester, Fjord and Beau… but I also love Yasha and Cadecus so much haha! Who are your faves? I’m so close to the end of campaign 2! I have about 25 episodes to go!
@@MerrilyKristin From campaign 1, Vax whole heartedly. Campaign 2, Mollymauk (I know 😭), and campaign 3, Ashton. I got into it after a year of grieving my mom and not feeling any creative energy. I started watching and it truly felt like a fog was lifted off my mind. It’s saved me in so many ways. Hearing you talk about it has been so fun for me because there are so few people in the book space who are also Critters!!!
@@AliCatWrites Vax is awesome! I haven't watched campaign 1, but I have been reading the Vox Machina Origins comics and watching the animated series and I would have to go with Grog for my favorite so far!! I can't wait to read the Mollymauk book when I finish campaign 2! I'm right in the thick of some Molly things at the moment in episode 115 😀 I'm so glad that Critical Role was able to help you in that way! I find their episodes to be so comforting. And agreed! I feel like more fantasy fans should check it out!! I keep saying to my husband that I'm thinking of it as the longest audiobook I've ever listened to!
Red Rising is my favorite sci-fi series of all time! It’s even better upon reread! 😉 I’m like you… I haven’t started Iron Gold yet because the series isn’t finished but I’m going to take the plunge because the suspense is killing me and like you said I can reread them when the final book comes out! But ohhhh the cliffhangers!!! 😱
Right?! I feel like we're basically going to die after Lightbringer without having the final book!! But I'm so glad this series came into my life. I'm actually in a bit of a reading slump at the moment and I blame Red Rising- I just keep thinking about putting aside my current book and starting Iron Gold!
I read 5 books in April and that's not good because I went to London in the first weekend and I didn't do any reading while I was there so April was a really hard month 😢. I did read when I got back from London but I will try my best in May 😊😊😊
@@MerrilyKristin I had such a great time - I went to do the London Landmarks Half Marathon where we get to run past the landmarks e.g. St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben, Tower of London etc. It was brilliant 👏

I loooove red rising series❤❤
Thank you for the WU!

I loved your wrap up, but I really love your Hollow Knight figures. ❤❤❤
Ahah thank you!! Hollow Knight is one of the best games I've played in years!!
@@MerrilyKristin It's a great game. I wish I was better at platformers. Hope Silksong comes out sooner rather than later.
Good on you for going with your gut and reading the blade itself .

It definitely takes a little while to get into the first book, but it's worth the read for how amazing the following books are!

Thank you!! And I can totally see that- this first one almost felt YA to me for the first half of the book, but then book two was amazing!!
I still need to read the red rising series 🥲
Yes, it's so good!!
Same!

Critical Role is why I only read 60 books last year. I’m obsessed. Who are your favorite characters???

And had to come back because I forgot to mention Nott 😅
