Welcome to Dark Souls Peon! Here are IMPORTANT Tips to EVERY dark souls game including Bloodborne! There are NO spoilers so please feel free to read them! 1. Explore every inch of every area - there are always items, NPCs, or any kind of secrets in every area. The developers designed this game to reward player for any kind of exploration. You can actually buy bows and arrows from certain NPC that u didn't discover yet :) Hint: It is very close to your bonfire with intersections. 2. Find your best suiting weapon and armor - You can actually finish any dark souls with just 1 type of weapon. Some weapons have much higher DPS, but they might not suit your playstyle. Find your playstyle and equip them accordingly. 3. Talk to NPCs! READ EVERYTHING! - NPCs generally have personalities, tips, lores. And also, be sure to KEEP TALKING to NPCs till they run out of dialogues. They actually give u items/tips when u finish their dialogues. They also say DIFFERENT dialogues when u complete certain quests too. Read every Item description! They do tell you how to use them, and have hints on how to use them effectively. 4. Learn their attack patterns - I see you are already doing that, if you see them closely, there are actually patterns for types of enemies. For example, BIG mobs are usually slow and do heavy attacks. What you want to do is, dodge their attacks, go behind them fast, and attack them from behind, and repeat. 5. Counterattacks- ALL SIMILAR SAME RULES apply to any Souls game. DODGE, BACKSTAB, and PARRY. THESE ARE REALLY IMPORTANT. If you dodge/roll at the right moment, you can dodge almost any kind of attacks at that moment. Backstab - If you do NORMAL attack (Not heavy attack) from behind human shaped mobs normally (skeletons, and such) you will BACKSTAB them from behind. If you do this right, a Backstab animation will take place, and you will be invincible during the execution. This is really IMPORTANT in any souls game. You can practice it from easy mobs like skeletons. ALWAYS TRY TO BACKSTAB and ATTACK FROM BEHIND for every mob (including mobs with shield, heavily armored, and even bosses). Check if it works or not, 'cause certain mobs are designed to be invulnerable to backstabs or just any attack from behind. You can do PARRY with certain SHIELDS by LT with Xbox controller - This is basically BACKSTAB in the front of the enemy. Execute Parry at the right moment to counter, and you will see an animation of COUNTERATTACK just like one Skeleton executed to you back in Graveyard. 6. Weight system - There is Weight system in Dark Souls 1.Every Item has certain Weight. Meaning if you are wearing a lot of heavy stuff, your movement will be slowed. Even your dodge speed will be slowed. Manage them. 7. Take your time, Experiment, and Learn - The game is designed to make you frustrated if you try to skip thru or cheese. Take your time. Every fight is important. Every enemy has weakness and strength. Certain enemies are more vulnerable to certain types of attacks or weapons. Experiment them, and learn. 8. THIS IS AN OPEN WORLD GAME- You already learned this in the beginning of the game. Dark souls game is an OPEN WORLD game. Just because you can go, doesn't mean the area is in right level for you. Instead of numerous bonfires (checkpoints), the game has shortcuts and takes place in one giant area. EVERY DOOR is meant to be opened by certain keys, mechanics, or at some point. Remember this, and find shortcuts. (Shortcuts meaning, there are cheesy ways to finish every level. The game is designed to be like this. It rewards you for every kind of exploration) 9. CHECK YOUR SURROUNDINGS - You can utilize every bit of surroundings to your advantage. For example, you just beat the 1st boss (not the tutorial boss) by killing himself off the ledge. You said you felt like you cheated, but that was designed to be! That's why they didn't build a lower wall in that area. Great job! If you remember, the boss level design is 1 narrow passage, and 1 upper ground (the tower with 2 archers). The boss was actually meant to beat by going up the ladder, jump attack while he is still down there, go back up, jump attack again and so forth. This level was MEANT TO TEACH YOU TO UTILIZE YOUR SURROUNDINGS just like your first tutorial boss. You don't have to fight everything face to face. Final Tip! - Souls series are very detailed games. Meaning, every objects are not meant to go wasted. There are always reasons for everything. If you are having a too difficult time on certain areas, you are NOT meant to go to that area so soon. If you feel like you missed something, you MISSED something. There are lots of secret/hidden walls and places too. There are always consequences for every actions you do. If you kill an NPC and succeed, he might drop every armor he was wearing. He might not give you later reward because he's dead too. For now though, don't try to kill any NPC. It's your first playthrough. There is no going back for doing certain actions too. Take your time, explore, experiment, learn from mistakes, understand the game itself, and Prepare to Die :D Praise the Sun! and Welcome to Dark Souls.
warning: after defeating some bosses, youll receive special souls. do never ever "use" them through your inventory, you will be able to give them so a specific npc to craft unique weapons and stuff. - stop attacking npcs, you will most likely regret it later, since they sell you items, teach you spells or just give you gifts from time to time.
Has 3 pathways to choose from, 1 is correct, chooses the two wrong ones first. And I dont blame you, I guess everyone made that mistake :D Also love the progression in this video, from someone who has absolutely no idea what he is doing to someone who still has no idea, but is actually learning and having fun. Thats the Dark Souls experience right there ^^

I would first like to say loving this hopefully long running series. secondly my best tip I can think to give you watching your snippets of play is explore a lot. There are a lot of very subtle details you may miss if you kind of stumble by them; such as the latter to the bonfire after the boss who jumped to its death. (the place you jumped down and realized was the bonfire you started at)
If you want to unlock the frame rate you can download DSFix. Warning: When the game is not locked at 30FPS it is much more difficult to make some of the jumps in the game. Also you'll want to listen to NPCs and completely exhaust their dialogue as they often give you hints on where to go. You'll also want to read item descriptions for keys and other items as they often tell you where you can use them.

hey Peon the game is unfortunately locked at 30 fps, but i highly recommend you download dsfix. its a mod then enables 60fps and fixes alot of other issues with the game.
One more question: a few people said I can get a bow and arrow to shoot the dragon, where do I get it from? is there like a menu to buy weapons from for my soul points or do I find all the weapons and equipment?
+TheLazyPeon please go watch some tutorials dude i love your vids but this is to much you just tormenting yourself learn veapon scaling learn key binding learn what each stat means learn about fast roling learn about npcs ( dont hit them they wont help you anymore) atleast chose weapon and build your build around it, and forget about bow bow is just for switches. +TheLazyPeon There's a NPC near the bonfire in undead burg. He sells a bow and arrow for a couple of houndred souls I think. Just walk a little bit back from the bonfire and go to the left, where the 2 little bitch skeletons are with shield and spear, go down the stairs and there'l be a NPC. You have to shoot at the dragon's tail a couple times to get the sword. It's a mechanic that you'll see more in Dark Souls. Cut off a boss' tail, get a weapon. You can aim at his tail when you are at the right side of the lower part of the bridge. You know where that other little bitch skeleton is with the spear and shield. I took that dragon sword aswell on my first playtrough. I don't really think it's cheating, it's in the game so why not use it?
+TheLazyPeon @ 11:31 in the video. if you look ahead theres a form of seperate section there with two undead with pikes and shield(at least thats what they used as I recall) You go to there, finish them and continue downstairs you will find a merchant sitting outside that section and he will sell you the bow and arrows that you need. Nice to see you starting a serie of this. I'm even happier that you decided to start from the first one. Really good choice if you are planning to continue all the way through the 3rd one. subscribed cos this really brings up the memories from my first playthrough. Look on your face when you got to the burg bonfire with the blacksmith downstairs is exactly the same as mine was back when i played this for the first time. I hope you do finish this paythrough and i hope you use guides only for direction cos the learning possess is part of the fun and beating the bosses feel much better when you beat em without helping info. I personally don't mind direction guides tho cos i know exactly how it can slow down your playthrough a lot and can become frustrating testing tough areas all over again. I did like how you tried both graveyard and New Londo first tho. trying things out first yourself is what makes moments so memorable after all. but each on their own and as long as its entertaining ill keep watching. Mate I started playing the Soulsborne series a year ago. I feel for you. I started with Bloodborne and I eventually quit out of a combination of boredom and noobness. Then I went to DsII and I completed it recently. Now at DsIII. Your videos are great :)
I really did enjoy that, keep it coming. its also great to see you finally getting enjoyment out of it. there are going to come some bosses that you feel like you hit a brick wall *cough* capra deamon *cough* but once you overcome them, its bliss
A few tips 1. kick shields to toss them aside, 2. the game rewards exploration heavily, even suicide runs (that fall to your previous bonfire on that bridge has a ladder you can kick down), 3. There are lots of shortcuts, the map is very interconnected 4. There is an NPC summon for the second boss (must be human form to summon, right next to fog door), 5. At the blacksmith upgrade your weapon (first priority) and shield(second priority, 6. The worth of a shield is its "stability" the higher that is, the less stamina is drained from each block (super important if your going to block heavy attacks) some shields have great resistant to magic be sure to read. 7. this should be number one but read everything dark souls is trying to et you to move at a slower pace (the pace of the game) and be aware of surroundings and item descriptions. 8. Item descriptions are a major source of information and lore, 9. All enemies abide by the same rules as you do. All enemies can be staggered (including bosses), their weapons can bounce off walls and many bosses and special enemies can die to poison (a second merchant sells poison arrows and such) 10. Havel can be beat easily with a +2shield and some points into stamina you can block his swings and circle until you stab him from behind oh and before I forget DON'T FIGHT GREAT WOLF SIF UNTIL AFTER COMPLETING THE EXPANSION, THERE IS A BONUS CUT SCENE THAT WAY.

YES DARK SOULS! That moment you got where the game clicked, is why the game(s) are so good. Even as a Dark Souls vet, that moment happens all the time when you take down a tricky boss. These games truly are the best on the market. Look forward to more Dark Souls vids man! PS, Dark Souls 3 is actually a decent game is start off with too, the lore is pretty complicated as is, no matter where you start from.

Didn't see that coming to be honest. But I really appreciate the fact, that you bring up the energy to give games a second chance (like GW2). Even when they are so unforgiving as Dark Souls and take some time to develop fun for new players! I know, that many people probably will write tips in the comment section, and rather then giving suggestions, there will be things people say are elemental, essential, and you have to do. But to be honest, the biggest tip any Dark Souls player can give a new player is just to discover the world yourself as far as it is possible. Don't get spoilered about secrets, don't let people tell you how to play. Cause Dark Soul is a game where skill is always more worth than builds or item stats or anything like that. There are people out there rocking the shovel out of others in pvp using nothing but their fists. Of cause, this is an extreme example. Dark Souls has so much to offer, and the biggest pros are the exploration and learning by yourself, in my opinion. Not knowing Game mechanics and asking for help there is something different of cause, like your question for the quickslots or possible character actions, like kicking dudes, that are holding up a shield, to break their guard. I just recommend to try to go in as blind in terms of the actual game world and its secrets as possible. And as always, this is just an opinion, and you are playing the game. If you feel like you enjoyed it more in other ways, then that is the way you should play it. ^^ And now I stop rambling and start being excited for the next episode! :)

If you want to unlock the frame rate you can download DSFix.
Warning: When the game is not locked at 30FPS it is much more difficult to make some of the jumps in the game.
Also you'll want to listen to NPCs and completely exhaust their dialogue as they often give you hints on where to go. You'll also want to read item descriptions for keys and other items as they often tell you where you can use them.

Try Dark Souls 3, it's more easier. Anyway, awesome videos as always! Forgot to mention, once you start Dark Souls 3, it has good tutorial but the game easily let go of your hand, so use the skills that you use/know in Dark Souls 1, it should help you progress fast in Dark Souls 3

hey Peon the game is unfortunately locked at 30 fps, but i highly recommend you download dsfix. its a mod then enables 60fps and fixes alot of other issues with the game.

One more question: a few people said I can get a bow and arrow to shoot the dragon, where do I get it from? is there like a menu to buy weapons from for my soul points or do I find all the weapons and equipment?

+TheLazyPeon please go watch some tutorials dude i love your vids but this is to much you just tormenting yourself learn veapon scaling learn key binding learn what each stat means learn about fast roling learn about npcs ( dont hit them they wont help you anymore) atleast chose weapon and build your build around it, and forget about bow bow is just for switches. +TheLazyPeon There's a NPC near the bonfire in undead burg. He sells a bow and arrow for a couple of houndred souls I think.
Just walk a little bit back from the bonfire and go to the left, where the 2 little bitch skeletons are with shield and spear, go down the stairs and there'l be a NPC.
You have to shoot at the dragon's tail a couple times to get the sword. It's a mechanic that you'll see more in Dark Souls. Cut off a boss' tail, get a weapon.
You can aim at his tail when you are at the right side of the lower part of the bridge. You know where that other little bitch skeleton is with the spear and shield.
I took that dragon sword aswell on my first playtrough. I don't really think it's cheating, it's in the game so why not use it?
+TheLazyPeon @ 11:31 in the video. if you look ahead theres a form of seperate section there with two undead with pikes and shield(at least thats what they used as I recall) You go to there, finish them and continue downstairs you will find a merchant sitting outside that section and he will sell you the bow and arrows that you need. Sorry for the bad navigation help, I am pretty god awful at it. Hope it helps you!

there is another route to where you tried to jump in 11:16. if you get there i think you find a crossbow. i am not 100% sure though
Nice to see you starting a serie of this. I'm even happier that you decided to start from the first one. Really good choice if you are planning to continue all the way through the 3rd one. subscribed cos this really brings up the memories from my first playthrough. Look on your face when you got to the burg bonfire with the blacksmith downstairs is exactly the same as mine was back when i played this for the first time.
I hope you do finish this paythrough and i hope you use guides only for direction cos the learning possess is part of the fun and beating the bosses feel much better when you beat em without helping info. I personally don't mind direction guides tho cos i know exactly how it can slow down your playthrough a lot and can become frustrating testing tough areas all over again. I did like how you tried both graveyard and New Londo first tho. trying things out first yourself is what makes moments so memorable after all. but each on their own and as long as its entertaining ill keep watching.

I feel for you. I started with Bloodborne and I eventually quit out of a combination of boredom and noobness.

A few tips
1. kick shields to toss them aside, 2. the game rewards exploration heavily, even suicide runs (that fall to your previous bonfire on that bridge has a ladder you can kick down), 3. There are lots of shortcuts, the map is very interconnected 4. There is an NPC summon for the second boss (must be human form to summon, right next to fog door), 5. At the blacksmith upgrade your weapon (first priority) and shield(second priority, 6. The worth of a shield is its "stability" the higher that is, the less stamina is drained from each block (super important if your going to block heavy attacks) some shields have great resistant to magic be sure to read. 7. this should be number one but read everything dark souls is trying to et you to move at a slower pace (the pace of the game) and be aware of surroundings and item descriptions. 8. Item descriptions are a major source of information and lore, 9. All enemies abide by the same rules as you do. All enemies can be staggered (including bosses), their weapons can bounce off walls and many bosses and special enemies can die to poison (a second merchant sells poison arrows and such) 10. Havel can be beat easily with a +2shield and some points into stamina you can block his swings and circle until you stab him from behind oh and before I forget
DON'T FIGHT GREAT WOLF SIF UNTIL AFTER COMPLETING THE EXPANSION, THERE IS A BONUS CUT SCENE THAT WAY.

YES DARK SOULS! That moment you got where the game clicked, is why the game(s) are so good. Even as a Dark Souls vet, that moment happens all the time when you take down a tricky boss. These games truly are the best on the market. Look forward to more Dark Souls vids man! PS, Dark Souls 3 is actually a decent game is start off with too, the lore is pretty complicated as is, no matter where you start from.

Didn't see that coming to be honest. But I really appreciate the fact, that you bring up the energy to give games a second chance (like GW2). Even when they are so unforgiving as Dark Souls and take some time to develop fun for new players!
I know, that many people probably will write tips in the comment section, and rather then giving suggestions, there will be things people say are elemental, essential, and you have to do. But to be honest, the biggest tip any Dark Souls player can give a new player is just to discover the world yourself as far as it is possible. Don't get spoilered about secrets, don't let people tell you how to play. Cause Dark Soul is a game where skill is always more worth than builds or item stats or anything like that. There are people out there rocking the shovel out of others in pvp using nothing but their fists. Of cause, this is an extreme example.
Dark Souls has so much to offer, and the biggest pros are the exploration and learning by yourself, in my opinion.
Not knowing Game mechanics and asking for help there is something different of cause, like your question for the quickslots or possible character actions, like kicking dudes, that are holding up a shield, to break their guard.
I just recommend to try to go in as blind in terms of the actual game world and its secrets as possible. And as always, this is just an opinion, and you are playing the game. If you feel like you enjoyed it more in other ways, then that is the way you should play it. ^^
And now I stop rambling and start being excited for the next episode! :)
