Every Aussie just sitting back going wait to Barnes steps up.................... You need to do Farnsey and Barnesy singing "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby"
Love the fact Emma has taken an interest in 'Australiana', musically there is so much. "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" is a beauty as well - _raw talent._ *For something softer, with some femininity she may consider some of Tina Arean's songs like "Only Women Bleed" - **_Truly magnificent - amazing vocalization._*
The song they are singing was by Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes was one of the singers from that band. If you want to hear something really special with John and Jimmy singing together then find a live version of "When something is wrong with my baby"
And if you want to hear Cold Chisel, try "Bow River", where you get to hear both Jimmy & the other lead singer from there, Ian Moss. As with nearly all Australian artists, live performances will always be better.
Aussie singers are always better live. Please do the live version of "When Something is Wrong with My Baby" on tv show Hey Hey it's Saturday. The 3rd singer/guitarist is Diesel, Jimmy Barnes' brother in-law.
As others have said, take a look at Farnsey and Barnesy singing "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby". Do both the official and the Hey, Hey, It's Saturday versions. Then try Jimmy singing "Stone Cold".
Farnsey can sing any genre and when live is a born, natural interactor with his audience. Barnsey is a rock legend with a shift to blues in latter career. Together they compliment NOT compete. No ego clash whatsoever.
Jimmy is one of the 2 lead singers of Cold Chisel the other one is Ian Moss. Check out Cold Chisel "When The War is Over" and "Bow River" from their 2003 Ringside concert. Jimmy and John doing "When Something is Wrong With My Baby", Jimmy and Tma Turner doing "Simply The Best' and Jimmy with Joe Bonamassa doing "Stone Cold." Prepare to go down a rabbit hole once you start listening to both Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes. When you get enough of Jimmy listen to his daughter Mahalia do "Riding With The Kings" with Joe Bonamassa and you will see she that she inherited her dads talent.
This was a Cold Chisel song and the lead singer of that band made a guest appearance at the end of this show....and they did the finish as a duet.....They both have a lot of respect for each other. But I think Jimmy may have had a few beers whilst waiting lol They did another duet which was so classy called 'When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" worth a look see lol
I feel so bloody lucky to have grown up in a world where (in the late 80s & 90s) John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, INXS and others featured in each other’s concerts. Your reaction takes me back to being 16 years old and seeing all of this live 🙏😍
Jimmy is singing with his second set of vocal chords. So many call that screaming, but he is actually singing. If he had been screaming all these years, his voice would have blown out long ago. When you have heard enough of his songs you will hear his range and that he can and does sing very well. For another gritty performance from Jimmy, listen to "A Change is Gonna Come". But wait....there's more. So much more from both John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes. John can sing so many different genres, you will be amazed and his voice is so beautiful.
I LOVE your reaction! Gorgeous! I would love to see you react to John singing this same song in his concert The Last Time. He was older and, sang it with such passion and, gravitas it is spine tingling in its intensity and utterly breathtaking.
Jimmy has been singing like that for 50 years. He is the all time highest selling artist in Australia with his band Cold Chisel (recently voted Australia's all time best group/artist) and also from a very successful solo career. If you want to see Jimmy really go wild then check out Cold Chisel's cover of Wild Thing from their last stand tour. If you want to see Cold Chisel at their best (with both singers featured) then check out Bow River from the ringside tour (there is another great version of When the War is Over from that tour as well).
@almango873 actually Farnham has about 10 more career platinum sales in total compared to Jimmy, even including Cold Chisel sales (about 77 platinum compared to 87). But Jimmy has more #1 albums. They’re both astronomically high numbers though. Im assuming jimmy would be #2 all time.
John comments at the end (always watch him to the very last - he often compliments his onstage people) "I've gotta tell you, I got a bigger kick out of that than you did". No ego there, just pure enjoyment of entertaining and interacting with everyone.
He always surrounded himself with absolutely top-notch musicians and singers and was very happy and willing to give them their well-deserved share of the limelight. Many of his band members are household names in their own right and/or from being longstanding members of John's band. David Hirschfelder on keyboards here, for example, now mainly composes film scores and has been nominated for a couple of Academy Awards, then there's the likes of Chong Lim, Brett Garsed, Stuart Fraser, Venetta Fields, Lindsay Field, and Lisa Edwards as well as many others.
In the 80s, before the tipping point of media globalisation, accessibility, and music homogenisation. Australia and New Zealand had great, distinct local music and a healthy music scene.
Hurts my ears. No technique… his voice cracked he was screaming so hard in this one 😥 it’s such a terrible match then when you hear John’s pin point precision…
@@gigisplayground4657 Jimmy Barnes has a different voice to John Farnham, but together they are amazing - iisten to some of their other duets. Also, remember that Jimmy just walked out on stage and started belting full roar. He has much more to offer, just look to some of his other work with Cold Chisel or his solo stuff!
i know Jimmy Barnes. No disrespect. He's an Aussie legend. And they have got great duets together. But his vocal technique (or lack of) means he has to really force the sound out and it seems like he is damaging his vocal chords when he does that. Not saying that he doesn't sound good most of the time but often, it hurts to hear him screaming uncontrollably... technically, John is just brilliant. He's so lucky. He apparently never had lessons but he just innately knows how to execute any note with precision. He can turn the grit on and off. Transition from chest to head to mix voice so seemlessly. He's just on another level. And that's no me being biased, it's just fact. I know Jimmy is a legend, and he and cold chisel have a great catalogue and legacy. But he has poor technique.
@@gigisplayground4657 it was an impromptu thing. Jimmy obviously didn't have time to warm his voice up and that song has some powerful singing. His technique is brilliant, he has great control over his voice and majority of Aussies LOVE his singing. You say no disrespect but you did.🤷..
Hi from Australia, You've already in love John Farnham, now you can fall in love with my favourite Jimmy Barnes I adore him. please listen to more Jimmy. Cheers 🦘🇦🇺
" I really love his face" lol, we really love his face as well. Much loved and most down to earth artist in Aus. Not the best video, but dont worry theres plenty of others and we'll come along with you on the discovery of john journey you've embarked on. We never get tired of hearing our John.
Someone else commented about Jimmy Barnes and Tina Turner you should check out “The best” it was used as a football anthem back in the 90’s Jimmy Barnes was Tina Turner’s biggest fan. When he was 13 he snuck into a Tina Turner and Ilk concert with his friend and was so mesmerized by it that he decided then and there to be a singer. When Jimmy Barnes was 16 yrs old he joined the band Cold Chisel. They had 2 singers in that band Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes. Some songs were sung by Ian Moss (Mossy) and having Jimmy Barnes (Barnesy) singing as backup vocals should also listen to “Bow River” 2003 Ringside concert. Then you’ll have Jimmy Barnes sing some of their hits like “You’ve got nothing I want” which was the middle finger to American music executives. They tried to make it big in America but were given the run around so Jimmy wrote that song and it became a smash hit here in Australia. 😂 It’s a big rabbit hole with huge back catalog with John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes Diesel aka Mark Lizotte (Jimmy’s brother in law). That’s to start with we have other artists that are huge in Australia. Divinyls, INXS, Living End, Midnight Oil, The Cruel Sea, Powderfinger, Spiderbait, Kasey Chambers, Hilltop Hoods, Jet, that’s off the top of my head other commenters can add a few here too. 😊
Thank you for continuing down the John Farnham rabbit hole - he is my favourite singer, hands down. To me, he is the GOAT. It helps that he is also a beautiful man inside and out!! 🤗😊❤❤ Now you have heard him and Jimmy sing together in this, as others have already pointed out, please take a listen to them singing When Something is Wrong With My Baby. I think it will blow you away 😅💗💗
Hey great reactions from you . Check out “ when something is wrong with my baby” they sang together live which you will really enjoy. If you want to check out more of jimmy Barnes then “ working class man “ or “ driving wheels” is a good start. Jimmy’s original band is cold chisel . To understand jimmys power then check out their version of “ wild thing” from their last stand concert in 1983. Always do live versions when you can 👍 thank you and I hope you enjoy 😊
Cold Chisel are currently doing their 50th anniversary tour. My favourite band and Jimmy is my favourite vocalist. Jimmy has had a long successful career with both Cold Chisel and as a solo artist. No Australian artist has more number one hits in Australia than Jimmy.
Jimmy Barnes is my favourite artist. ColdChisel, his band, is my favourite band. I can’t be the only one as they have just been nominated as Australia’s top band in 2024. Pretty great since they existed from 1973 to 1983. They have reformed for albums and concerts since. I just saw them on 19th November 2024 for their 50th anniversary tour, and they were everything I wanted and more. This is actually a Cold Chisel song. The 2003 Ringside concert is the one to watch. PS he doesn’t always have that rasp either. Watch him sing a song called Letter to Alan from 1982 in Germany, Forever Now, and Choir Girl. His band did a CCR cover of Long as I See The Light, a cover of Wild Thing by the Troggs, their cover of the old Sam and Dave song called When Something is Wrong with My Baby by Cold Chisel (before Jimmy and John Farnham covered this in the early 90’s). He sings rock, country, jazz and my favourite, soul. For soul, check out his cover of A Change is gonna come from 1984. Other Chisel songs include One Long Day, Bow River, Flame Trees, Saturday Night, Khe Sanh, Goodbye (Astrid Goodbye), Breakfast at Sweethearts, You got Nothing I want, Four Walls, Ita, The Things I love In You, Home and Broken Hearted, Conversations, No Good For You, Janelle, and a cover of Knocking on Heavens Door from 1980 in Manly Vale. He continues to have great success in his solo career. Then there are other artists who have sung with Jimmy Barnes, which includes the late beautiful Tina Turner RIP with a duet of Simply the Best, with INXS with Good Times (an Easybeats song) that was on the soundtrack for the movie called The Lost Boys. You can hear him sing 3 times in the movie, when you know him. He has sung with Joe Cocker (a song called Guilty), with the Badloves with a cover of The Weight, and with Diesel aka Mark Lizotte, singing Still Got A Long Way To Go. I know I have rambled on a bit, but I do get excited when people have the chance to discover this talented man. Enjoy.
Jimmy Barnes was the lead singer of COLD CHISEL the song John sung is by them , Chisel are one of the Greatest Aussie bands ever with the own amazing catalogue of songs , do your self a favour and have a listen , but how good is John Farnham , glad to see a young woman getting to hear some of Australia's greatest
Jimmy Barnes is a phenomenal singer..my favourite singer of all time.. he is Lead singer of band called cold chisel Jimmy Barnes singing a cover of “a change is gonna come” will blow your mind so will anything he sings with cold chisel
Wow, just Wow, a great Duet between John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes, proving that differing styles and vocal range can mesh into a harmonious whole, although I note from the comments that Jimmy Barnes hated how he sang, maybe another Song by them could be covered; An always alluring/captivating and beautiful Emma reacts with aplomb, style/charm and elegance, sheer bliss; 🦁🥰😘🙏👍👏🙏🎶🎵🎶🎧🎙🍵🤪🙌🍁🍁🦅.
You have to check out Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham’s song “when something is wrong with my baby” live version on “hey hey it’s Saturday” special guest Diesel. You will enjoy. Great reaction by the way
Yes, yes… down the Aussie rabbit hole you go! 🙌🏼🤘🏼 It starts with John, then Jimmy, then Cold Chisel, Diesel… and onwards to many others of the best rock has to offer 😄 Subscribed after this second reaction because I need to see more! 🎸⚡️
Although this isn’t the best version of this great iconic song and Jimmy not on his best game but still awesome to see and hear. I think John did this great song a little better than cold chisel and for me the version at his “the last time tour” in 2002. Jimmy Barnes was the lead singer of cold chisel and the first to do this song but on this day he wasn’t at his best, but chisel did do some great versions of it. Awesome.
"When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" yes as many have said below. And then 'Bow River', live in the round with Cold Chisel (Chisel drummer wrote this song you just watched). Jimmy Barnes is still singing and currently doing a 50th anniversary tour with Cold Chisel in Australia. These are 2 of the best male vocalists ever, and I'm not biased 😉
when they were young, john farnham was every mother's favourite boy and every young lad's vomit. jimmy barnes was every mother's nightmare and every young lad's hero. and this is a cold chisel (jimmy barnes) song, covered by john farnham. both are childhood economic refugees to australia from uk.
You might like John Farnham and Oliver newton John Singing please don't ask me You'll see John versatility as a power Ballard Jimmy was in band cold chisel they had 2 singers Jimmy barnes and Ian moss They voices blended together as well Jimmy went solo so Look up this song in he's 50s Jimmy barnes and Joe bonamassa Stone cold Joe is one of the best guitarists around and has two solo's during Jimmy singing But you'll get to see the versatility of jimmy's voice as well Jimmy generally rock blues singer but can sing without the rasp and can control it 6 decade's between them in top 10 in oz Cheers Emma 🦘🇦🇺👍❤
John Farnham and jimmy Barnes Sing together. When something is wrong with my baby. Or jimmy Barnes with Tina turner Simply the best are excellent duets
Anything you check out from these two iconic Australian artists should be where they shine the most - Live . Go by the suggestions and you can't go wrong .
Hello, i am from Austria, that is at the opposite Side of Australia. We get not much australian Music here. So i never heard of Jimmy Barnes. But he had a great Voice and this Song is great. Emma, please dig a little bit deeper for us Europeans for good Music from down under. Stay safe and have a lot of Fun. Greetings from Austria, where Kangaroos only live in the Zoo. 🤣🤣🤣
Barnsey and Farnsey, my 2 schoolgirl crushes that have lasted over 50 years ❤❤. Jimmy's A change is gonna come or John and Jimmy singing When something is wrong with my baby. Jimmy also has a great falsetto which you can hear in the Cold Chisel live ringside 2003 version of when the war is over
Definitely play when something is wrong with my baby. Then you have to play Stone cold in love with you . Jimmy an Jo Bonamasa . You won't be disappointed . Oh,and Jimmy was lead singer of Cold chisels .🙂
Emma, we are setting up deer stands at the farm and will be sitting around drinking some whiskey around the fire tonight. Do us a favor and listen to the Allman brothers “whipping post” or “one way out.” They have both live and studio versions. Give us southern boys some entertainment around the camp fire tonight.
Love your react to his full octave transition, then Jim comes out and you changed your mind on who you were taking home heheheheh you love Aussies after that....
When your best mate just drops in on your song..(well it's more Jimmy's song than John actually. Jimmy's band was one of the two singers from Cold Chisel, who's drummer wrote the song....but John took it on, and put his own spin on it, when Cold Chisel broke up and the drummer joined the band that John was in call The Little River Band.
John Farnham has also sung with Tom Jones a couple of times - It's a long way to the Top at The Logies in 1993, and My Yiddish Mama on Hey Hey it's Saturday TV show, as well as Your the Voice at a concert - all on RUclips. Hey hey it's Saturday is a variety show also where you can search for the John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes singing When Something is Wrong with my Baby. The guitarist is a star in his own right - he's known as Diesel.
This is one of the worst performances I've ever seen from Jimmy - he's honestly just screaming on it. He certainly has a much, much better voice than he shows here, but even when they are both at their best, John still wins hands down, imo.
Jimmy Barnes was born, James Swan. His brother is still John Swan. James changed his last name to Barnes because of respect for his stepfather Reginald Barnes. It's not a stage name. James, Jimmy Barnes , (Barnsey) has a famous son who is also a singer, his name is David Campbell. So his brother is Swan and his son is David Campbell. It's because Jim was not married to David's mother and David took her family name and he was close to his grandparents. But when Jimmy Barnes found out that David was his son, his wife welcomed David to their family. As well as David Campbell, his daughter Mahalia Barnes is also a singer. Actually David is a TV presenter these days and I don't know if he still sings much, but he will sing Christmas stuff. 😊 But his father and sister Mahalia are still working as professional singers. Oh and you should check out Jimmy's Soul albums. Soul Deep and Soul Deep 2. 👍 Barnsey, pronounced Bahn-Zee Or Barn Z 😅 Barnsey 😀
Welcome to the Aussie Rock rabbit hole! A couple of intro songs for you: JF: You're the Voice live with the MSO (same gig as your previous reaction), also Long Way to the Top also with the MSO JB: Cold Chisel - Bow River, on the Ringside tour JB doing Driving Wheels Either one of them doing When the war is over live but solo They'll get you a good taste of their talents. Just make sure you do live versions, you'll be short changed doing the studio ones
Don't worry about Jimmy Barnes throat or voice. Check out a far more recent song of his with master Guitarist Joe Bonamassa doing "Stone Cold" .....masterful ... you will not be disappointed.
Yes 'when something is wrong with my baby' Jimmy and John really shows their vocals to perfection. This wasn't really very good at highlighting either of their voices. And for a John Farnham gorgeous song...'touch of paradise' will melt you!

Enjoy.
You look wonderful with your new haircut 😍
Oh thank you!
Considering Jimmy Barnes is touring now, with Cold Chisel, for their 50th anniversary, he can sing for a while yet.
Beautiful voices
John’s Burn for you is my fav.
Live as always, it makes me so emotional. ❤
Emma, welcome to Australian Rock Royalty.
The guitar work in the background was amazing
Jimmy Barnes is a phenomenal singer..my favourite singer of all time.. he is Lead singer of band called cold chisel
Jimmy Barnes singing a cover of “a change is gonna come” will blow your mind so will anything he sings with cold chisel
Wow, just Wow, a great Duet between John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes, proving that differing
styles and vocal range can mesh into a harmonious whole, although I note from the comments that
Jimmy Barnes hated how he sang, maybe another Song by them could be covered;
An always alluring/captivating and beautiful Emma reacts with aplomb, style/charm and elegance, sheer bliss;
🦁🥰😘🙏👍👏🙏🎶🎵🎶🎧🎙🍵🤪🙌🍁🍁🦅.
i was crying singing this
You have to check out Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham’s song “when something is wrong with my baby” live version on “hey hey it’s Saturday” special guest Diesel. You will enjoy. Great reaction by the way
What just happened?. Jimmy Barnes just happened, haha. Love them both.
Well, this song was written and performed by Jimmy Barnes and his band' Cold Chisel' John Farnham is pratically singing a cover of it.
Awesome.
You would love Katie Noonan- her band was called George
"When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" yes as many have said below. And then 'Bow River', live in the round with Cold Chisel (Chisel drummer wrote this song you just watched). Jimmy Barnes is still singing and currently doing a 50th anniversary tour with Cold Chisel in Australia. These are 2 of the best male vocalists ever, and I'm not biased 😉
“When something’s Wrong with my Baby” with John and Jimmy Barnes (live).
YAY Johnny and jimmy! TEAM JJ! i own Vinyl still
when they were young, john farnham was every mother's favourite boy and every young lad's vomit. jimmy barnes was every mother's nightmare and every young lad's hero. and this is a cold chisel (jimmy barnes) song, covered by john farnham. both are childhood economic refugees to australia from uk.
You might like John Farnham and Oliver newton John
Singing please don't ask me
You'll see John versatility as a power Ballard
Jimmy was in band cold chisel they had 2 singers Jimmy barnes and Ian moss
They voices blended together as well
Jimmy went solo so Look up this song in he's 50s
Jimmy barnes and Joe bonamassa Stone cold
Joe is one of the best guitarists around and has two solo's during Jimmy singing
But you'll get to see the versatility of jimmy's voice as well
Jimmy generally rock blues singer but can sing without the rasp and can control it
6 decade's between them in top 10 in oz
Cheers Emma 🦘🇦🇺👍❤
John Farnham and jimmy Barnes Sing together. When something is wrong with my baby. Or jimmy Barnes with Tina turner Simply the best are excellent duets
Jimmy Barnes does an amazing rendition of A Change is Gunna Come too... Aussie here, glad you love these icons!
Hi Emma. Check Out - young John Farnham singing 'Bridge Over Troubled Water'.
Anything you check out from these two iconic Australian artists should be where they shine the most - Live . Go by the suggestions and you can't go wrong .
Much much more to see from jimmy barnes, cold chisel, versatile...
😂😂😂😘😘😘
Its going to be said a million times I'm sure, but you haven't reacted to these two until you've reacted to "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" :)
Jimmy Barnes singing Stone Cold with Joe Bonammassa is a must see.
Barnsey and Farnsey, my 2 schoolgirl crushes that have lasted over 50 years ❤❤. Jimmy's A change is gonna come or John and Jimmy singing When something is wrong with my baby. Jimmy also has a great falsetto which you can hear in the Cold Chisel live ringside 2003 version of when the war is over
Gidday mate ! from Australia. Thanks for the video
Definitely play when something is wrong with my baby.
Then you have to play Stone cold in love with you .
Jimmy an Jo Bonamasa . You won't be disappointed .
Oh,and Jimmy was lead singer of Cold chisels .🙂
Jimmy Barnes is lead singer from Cold Chisel. One of Australia's biggest bands. Look at Four Walls, from Cold Chisel East album
When something is wrong with my baby to same artist plus diesel
Love your react to his full octave transition, then Jim comes out and you changed your mind on who you were taking home heheheheh you love Aussies after that....
JImmy Barnes is very gravel-like. Raw old-school rock. John has the best voice of anyone alive today (just my opinion).
Jimmy sings like that all night long every night of the week. Australia’s best vocalist hands down👏👏
@robrichards585 No, he sings much better than that. This was just screaming and was terrible. I have never heard him sound so bad.
This is one of the worst performances I've ever seen from Jimmy - he's honestly just screaming on it. He certainly has a much, much better voice than he shows here, but even when they are both at their best, John still wins hands down, imo.
‘Angels’ by John Farnham👌👌
Barnsey, pronounced Bahn-Zee
Or Barn Z 😅
Barnsey 😀
the backing singer vienetta fields ....famous for inventing vienetta ice cream
Nice try but no. But….she was a backup singer on dark side of the moon. How is that for pedigree?
The song was by Cold Chisl and Jimmy Barnes originally :)
My favourite version of this song by John is when he was in his fifties
Welcome to Jimmy Barnes world. When something is wrong with my baby is heaven
Welcome to the Aussie Rock rabbit hole!
A couple of intro songs for you:
JF: You're the Voice live with the MSO (same gig as your previous reaction), also Long Way to the Top also with the MSO
JB: Cold Chisel - Bow River, on the Ringside tour
JB doing Driving Wheels
Either one of them doing When the war is over live but solo
They'll get you a good taste of their talents. Just make sure you do live versions, you'll be short changed doing the studio ones
Billie Holiday; "Gloomy Sunday".
Lol, her face when hearing Barnsey
Don't worry about Jimmy Barnes throat or voice. Check out a far more recent song of his with master Guitarist Joe Bonamassa doing "Stone Cold" .....masterful ... you will not be disappointed.
..And Emma can sing!! You can saftely listen to Her. She knows what She is talking about. -And John Farnham was / is a GREAT singer!!
Pair of bonafide Aussie legends 🤘🇦🇺🤘
Yes 'when something is wrong with my baby' Jimmy and John really shows their vocals to perfection. This wasn't really very good at highlighting either of their voices. And for a John Farnham gorgeous song...'touch of paradise' will melt you!
That's Jimmy Barns from Cold Chisel! Aussie royalty! Review Cold Chisel singing there song when the war is over live! It's amazing
Definitely check out Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham "When Something is Wrong With My Baby"
Also Jimmy Barnes with Joe Bonamassa "Stone Cold"
