@@officialWWM Except that John Farnham is not 'in the business' of singing anymore and has not been for a while. He can only whistle and open his mouth very little. He still has to have more surgery. His bottom teeth were taken out in order for the surgeon to perform the operation on his cancerous jaw. That also required some of John's ribs to be removed to reconstruct the jaw. He's been through a very tough time.

He loves to interact with his fans, swings the mic stand around even bends down taking gifts while singing a high note just amazing. From rock to opera it does not matter for this icon. He did get on well with them all, but they didn't mesh very well on stage and John began to feel suffocated and somewhat controlled.
But he did learn some extremely important lessons with them and enacted all the lessons when he gathered his own The John Farnham Band.

Most concerts were advertised as John Farnham and Band, or his band, or the JF band, this one was John and his Big Band in typical Aussie understatement, it's a 100+ piece orchestra for crying out loud. lol
This song is one of the last songs that he would sing at the end of the night after he had already sung his heart out for nearly 3 hours.
Some have pointed out that this particular recording of the concert was closer to 2 hours of actual singing during the TV special, but it was also on the 4th or 5th night that he had sung like this.
Either way, it was one of multiple nights that he did this on January 4-10, 1989, so his voice is still worthy of the accolades.
Not many other singers can belt like that for even 2 or 3 nights without a rest.
And besides picking at the exact details or this exact performance, Farnsey also has a way of getting deep into the emotions of your soul.
A couple of songs worth checking have been mentioned below, plus these are worth a look also.
The reason you haven't heard of him is because the US music industry is a closed little club. When John Farnham went to the US they didn't know which genre to put him in so his US promotions manager got him a couple of gigs in a little jazz club, where the MC introduced him as Jack Phantom. Couldn't even be bothered getting his name correct, so being a bit disheartened he wandered home to concentrate on his loyal fan base. The experience did give him inspiration to write a couple of good songs about missing his family, like this one.
    -Burn For You..
    ruclips.net/video/4PPvOhPspEA/видео.html
    -Angels..
Notice how he holds the mike below his chest, both mikes are a metre away, which he does all the time to not drown out the other singers.
JF with Lisa Edwards, a top singer in her own right, and one of John's back up singers for 20+ years.
    ruclips.net/video/5_2NJRIdBO8/видео.html
    -Amazing Grace..
To show the calibre of his other back up Singers, showing you have to be good in your own right, just like Lisa.
This is Vanetta Fields and Lindsey Field.
    ruclips.net/video/_x6N94OEkZQ/видео.html
    -Please Don't Ask Me..
This one with Olivia Newton John, who we have recently lost. John has also had major cancer surgery including removal of part of his jaw and we may not hear him sing again. So let's enjoy this one as well..
Edit- JF has announced he is free of cancer, but has not mentioned anything about singing again.
    ruclips.net/video/2uV_tZODfK8/видео.html
-When Something Is Wrong With My Baby....
And even when he is singing with one of the most powerful voices on the planet, Jimmy Barnes, he still put the mike away from his face and closer to Jonny Diesel on guitar.
    ruclips.net/video/AU_bCchDWF4/видео.html
Or this version, both are great, but slightly different..
    ruclips.net/video/RAlFHSPLHpo/видео.html
    -When The War Is Over…
Possibly one of his greatest vocals.
    ruclips.net/video/lfWrXc5eN8g/видео.html
    -Or is the greatest.
    Gethsemane..
    ruclips.net/video/k5woMZtClhI/видео.html
    -How about a mike test.
He has the power and ability to distort microphones, blow up amps, and get speaker stacks jumping. So this sort of setting up the venue test is a must. Lol
    Black Dog.
    ruclips.net/video/F2Yi6TVi-sU/видео.html
Besides having the best voice ever, JF can adjust his tone, pitch, volume, to match the person he is singing with to either match them or sing just under them depending on who's the head line act, he will even back himself down when he is the head line to give others their moment to shine, and if my ears were sensitive enough, I wouldn't be surprised if he could vary his vibrato, timbre and all of those other things that voices can do so he could accentuate the other singers.

He sings any genre from pop to opera. Burn For You, When The War Is Over, The Voice, It’s A Long Way To The Top , Angel,. Has done duets with Olivia Newton John, Anthony Warlow, Tom Jones, Ray Charles, and with another Aussie legend Jimmy Barnes When Something Is Wrong With My Baby. His reactions should be live as their performances are a show in themselves.

Well that was a total and complete joy, listening to John Farnham's emotive and deep/soulful
rendition of a an old Beatles classic song, the crowd involvement added an extra layer on top and
his range of vocals was great, aided by the backing of the Orchestra, other instruments and it was really
lovely too see a Harp on the stage; I see in the comments that John Farnham is referred to as the voice and I
can certainly see why, Emma said that she hoped to get the chance to hear him go even higher, that will be a
    pleasure to listen to down the road;
And circling back too Emma, what is their to say, this was simply Emma being Emma with yet another superlative/magical/sincere/
emotional reaction; But all of Emma's reactions in either Music or Film are simply wonderful, being so graceful/charming/fun/witty/
    stylish/elegant/genuine and uplifting, and all done with such panache/Joie de Vivre whilst all the time just being so stunningly beautiful;
    🦄🥰😍🙏👏👍🙏🎶🎵🎶🎧🎙🍵🍁🍁🦅.

John Farnham is a rabbit hole you need to go down, there is a good reason why he is called the Voice, he is one of the GOATS, there is no category of music he can’t sing.

What a beautiful reaction to the best singer of all time. His voice is so versatile. He has tackled and conquered many, many genres. Try to always listen to him live. His studio albums are fantastic, but his vocals when he sings live are even better. Live is where you see John's beautiful personality, and truly amazing vocals. John loves to perform live and it shows. He shines on that stage. He always gives 110% of himself and gives a mind blowing performance every time. I'd love for you to react to John Farnham singing 'When The War Is Over' Live from the Whispering Jack concert.

This song is a good gateway to 'Farnsey'. Next stop should be 'Burn For You' if you want to hear him at his delicate best in a fairly stripped back ballad. Or 'You're The voice' to hear him in over the top anthemic rock star mode. Best to hear live versions of both so you get to see his crowd interaction.

He sung a heap of songs including "YOU'RE THE VOICE".

John was teaching himself how to play this on piano. In order to get the chords right, he was playing them slowly. He decided he preferred it at the slower tempo, so he did this rearrangement. The reason everyone knew the song was that he originally released it in 1980 and this concert was in 1989.😊

A 'high note' John - "hold my beer, you haven't heard anything yet". Love him... The saxophone player was part of John's band, the orchestra added more depth to this. Every song of this concert was brilliant!

You're The Voice - Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
    Burn For You
Please Don't Ask Me - John Farnham & Olivia Newton John (1998)
Tom Jones and John Farnham at the Logies 1993
John Farnham Jimmy Barnes - When The War Is Over
