Never heard this song before, but DANG! The lyric 'wasting my days on the factory floor' hit me HARD. I spent 15 years of my life working at a pork packing house. I HATED that job with the heat of a thousand fiery suns, but it was one of the better paying jobs in town. Since I had a family to feed, to work I went. An old-timer there told me if I ever got a chance to leave that small Iowa town, to leave, or I'd be working there for the rest of my life. So, when my kids were grown and my ex-wife left me, I left town quickly. I miss the fishing there, but I will NEVER set foot in that town again. GREAT song, thank you for introducing me to it!
Cold Chisel is as working class in its lyrics to an Aussie as Springsteen is to an American if you know what I mean. GO and listen to a song of theirs called Flame trees, about a guy coming back to a small town after a terrible incident made him leave. Possibly listen to it with the lyrics on. Will resonate with you.

One Long Day, Conversations, Wild Thing, Georgia, Lost, Water into Wine, Forever Now, Letter to Alan , My Baby, Cheap Wine, Choir Girl…. That’s just to start…. Lead Singer Jimmy Barnes…. Lead Guitar/ Vocals Ian Moss, Bass Phil Small, Keyboard/ Piano/ Major Songwriter Don Walker…. Drums Steve Prestwich 1973-2011…. Charley Drayton 2011-….. all of the band write songs …. Bow River was written and performed by Ian Moss….
Cold Chisel is about as working class as you can get. They started out in the northern satellite town of Adelaide in South Australia, called Elizabeth. It was a car factory town, and these guys knew what factory floor work was like. Their first big break was regular weekend gigs at a large seaside pub in Adelaide called The Largs Pier Hotel. They then decided to move to the city of Sydney for access to more venues. They are unashamedly Australian working class, and this is reflected in their music.
Possibly the most iconic Australian band. Deep dive into Cold Chisel is required: “Flame Trees” “When the War is Over” “You Got Nothing I Want” “Choir Girl” “Rising Sun” “Saturday Night” “Star Hotel” “Forever Now” “Standing on the Outside” Plenty more, but that’s a good start!

You should check out their live version of this song from their Ringside concert on youtube - if anything, it's even better. Aussie pub rock royalty. 👍

People with limited knowledge about Australian music make sweeping generalisations by saying that Cold Chisel are " Australia's greatest ever pub band"
Everyone from that era has their own favourite pub band. I remember seeing Skyhooks at the Largs Pier and they were incredible. They were so, so tight and powerful and so different to anything else. A band called Taste were incredible and they had a drummer called Virgil Donati that was untouchable. The Kevin Borich Express were top class. Going back even further, The Masters Apprentices, another Adelaide band were miles and miles ahead of their time and over in Melbourne town, there was Lobby Lloyd and the Coloured Balls my oh my! The loudest band I have ever witnessed was Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs. They DID make your ears bleed and Thorpey was from another planet so let's not get too hung up about who was whose favourite band. We were the lucky ones. Spare a thought for the poor sods who will never see the Oils in the 70's & 80's, for example, in a venue that holds two hundred people max.
Watch their Bow River 2003 Ringside concert too. The harmonica playing is even more amazing. The video filming is much better as well. Both are good but Ringside 2003 is better in my opinion.
Cold chisel kicked ass and still do being for how long they've been around. Not always togeather but working on different projects each member barnsey went solo, as did Ian mossey they did pretty good for themselves like the lyrics like to sit at a table with old friends and see which one is could tell the biggest lie🤘😎😆😆😆👍🇦🇺🦘🪃❤️👋
Jimmy Barnes took secondary vocals, but he is definitely someone you should explore more... try Stone Cold ft Joe Bonamassa - you won't regret it! Barnsey was around during the time of AC/DC and had equally as powerful vocals - still does! Don't forget you loved our Aussie John Farnham as well, so another song to listen to is Farnsey & Barnsey singing live When Something is Wrong with my Baby! Two amazing powerhouses singing soul/rock
They did the wrong version!!! How could they not do the 2003 Ringside version!!!! Arrhhhhhhhhh!!! They finally do Chisel and they do the wrong version of Bow River.
Another legendary Australian band to check out - The Angels. Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?, Marseilles, No Secrets are just three of the great songs they had.
Australians growing up in the 70's and 80's were blessed. Cold Chisel, AC/DC, INXS, Dragon, Hunters and Collectors, The Angels, Rose Tattoo, and so many others. Seeing them perform live at Selinas in Coogee or Bondi Icebergs was out of this world. I pity the kids of today who don't get to see raw talent like that live (oh - and if they DO get to, they don't watch the concert, they're too busy holding up their phones top record it, watching the whole spectacle on a phone screen). Poor bastards!
About time you got back to Chisel. Their main lead on this one is Ian Moss (Mossy) and the legendary Jimmy Barnes (Barnesy) taking secondary vocals. These guys were massive in Ause during the late 70s and early 80s. Before breaking up and Jimmy going off on his solo career. (I beleive you may have reacted to him with INXS DOING 'GOOD TIMES') Next Please do 'Saturday night' Also worth looking at 'You've got nothing I want', 'Flame trees', 'Cheep Wine', 'Standing on the Outside', 'Choir Girl', 'Forever Now', 'No Sense', 'My Baby' oh and if you loved Mossy's bluesy take at the start of this then check out their rendition of 'Georgia'. Then of course there's the whole rabbit hole of following Barnsey's solo career
Then Barnsey and Farnsey, John Farnham, yet another great, huge rabbit hole, with When something is wrong With My Baby. Going to Bow river, means driving for days, across to western Australia, then up the coast to the top end.
Funny isn't it, that they have discovered the Cold Chisel gold mine but have stuck their pick into it only a few times. I wonder how long it will take them to discover all the gold! :)
Lead singers are Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes, Jay and Amber you would both love the song Saturday Night by Cold Chisel with a bass and saxophone tune. There’s also Flame Trees, Choir Girl and When The War Is Over to check out.
The problem has been that overseas especially American music companies never really understood how good Australian music was back then. We never took any crap from record companies and we did our own thing. Cold Chisel and Midnight Oil were at the top of the tree. INXS made it internationally but a lot stayed home and were mega here.
Chold Chisel are legendary in Australlia. Flame Trees, Forever Now and When the War is Over are my fav songs. They will soon become one of your fav bands. They have 2 main vocalists. Jimmy Barnes is the main vocalist but on some songs guitarist Ian Moss takes over on lead vocals. They can do slower songs and up-tempo songs. Jimmy Barnes is a rock god in Australia. Cold Chisel have been around for about 50 years. Some other great Australian bands to check out are Powderfinger, Silverchair, You am I, Reguirgitator, Spiderbait, Grinspoon,Wolfmother, Jebadiah, Killing Heidi, Eskimo Joe, The living End and Ths Screaming Jets. Just to name a few. These are mostly 90s and 00s bands so they mostly have that 90s rock sound. My fav Australian band is Powderfinger but they are no longer together. Hope you check out some more Aussie bands. You where talking about fav Aussie bands but did you know The Bee Gees started out in Australia. They lived in Australia in the 60s and got their start on Australian radio and TV. True story.
I love that the Cold Chisel secret is finally sweeping America (in their 50 th year)!! There touring was stunted there due to management issues or something like that…
@@manceanon7139Nah. Chisel all the way. AC/DC don’t have the variety of songs that Chisel do. I would say that in Australia Chisel would get more radio airplay
Speaking of Australian or Australian/New Zealand 80s rock bands, you haven't played Crowded House (Don't Dream It's Over) in a bit. New Zealander Neil Finn was one of the co-founders and primary songwriter and lead singer. Some of their other songs to check out are World Where You Live, Something So Strong, Better Be Home Soon, Weather With You, It's Only Natural. Neil's brother Tim Finn was one of the founders of rock band Split Enz in the 70s with Neil later joining. Some of their songs you should check out include, I Got You, Six Months in a Leaky Boat, Message To My Girl. Tim went onto a solo career in the 80s and one of his songs you should check out is, hit the ground running.
No body reacts to Tim's solo stuff, and thats a shame. Staring at The Embers, Fraction Too Much Friction, and my fave, Made My Day. You cant listen to that one and not feel lifted!
I was lucky enough to see Oan Moss at a small venue about 10 years ago(less than a 800 people), my goodness, what a phenomenal performance. I was literally within 5 metres of him while he was performing, he did not disappoint!!!
You've stumbled upon Australian Rock Royalty!!! Cold chisel are Legends of aussie rock!!! They actually are touring this summer (December onwards) for their 50th anniversary tour... Love this song but also check out: -choir girl -cheap wine -flame trees -when the war is over -saturday night.... The list goes on and on!!! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🥰 ABSOLUTE AUSSIE LEGENDS!!!
I'm suggesting "Evie, parts 1,2 & 3." It is minutes long but can be played in 2 or 3 parts. It is a masterpiece written by Vander and Young( Angus's brother) for Stevie Wright of the Easybeats. You won't be disappointed, I promise.❤
For Female Friday, please get back to Chrissie Amphlett of The Divinyls. You did "I Touch Myself". (Made you blush. Made us all blush!). Now try "Boys in Town" and "Pleasure and Pain" among others! For Bands - Yothu Yindi "Treaty"; Hoodoo Gurus "Like Wow - Like Now" and others; More Crowded House - any song! For Guys - Paul Kelly "I've Done All The Bad Things" etc.; Johnny Diesel "Right On the Tip of My Tongue" . Lots of Aussie fun in store!
Jimmy Barnes isn’t singing lead vocals on this one, but he’s an Australian national treasure! Please do his song Ride The Night Away, and the song he sang with INXS (who I know you love), Good Times.
Please Jay and Amber do the LIVE VERSION of Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham "When Something is wrong with my Baby". It really showcases both of their great voices. Greetings from Melbourne Australia ❤
Fantastic! Tight band live. Love the harmonica too. I had never heard of them before you did Khe Sanh. Now with Bow River I will have to explore their catalog on my own. I do look forward to you doing more of their songs as well.
Chisel live is still the best gig I have ever been too. Jimmy Barnes live is right behind it, too. After Barnesy gig, my ears were ringing for 3-4 days! lol
They've just released a 50th anniversary album with all of their best songs. Give that a listen. Play full blast. I've seen them many times and again in November for their 50 anniversary tour. Jimmy Barnes is legendary in Australia.
Just been revisiting another great Aussie band Divinyls music last couple days and came across this.. (I think the algorithm is onto me..) too much nostalgia !!
If you haven't yet --- When the war is over is one of the big hitters by cold chisel. You're listening to Jimmy Barnes (Lead vocals) and Ian moss (lead guitar/vocals)
Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes are the singers both great artists in their own rights .I'm lucky enough to be going to see Cold Chisel in concert in November I'm so excited !
I discovered this band through an Aussie colleague. I really like their track 'Flame Trees'. It's a different pace to this song, and great classic rock song involving home-towns and heartbreak. (Edit: from what I understand, the secondary singer on Bow River - Jimmy Barnes - is usually the main vocalist. The guy who does the primary vocals on Bow River - Ian Moss - was the main writer for that track.)
Nobody ever seems to mention my favourite chisel songs like, hold me tight (short, but intense from start to finish and the piano is awesome), one long day, the door, my turn to cry, just how many times and breakfast at sweethearts, (which is finally getting more requests than before) but there's 7 or 8 albums of songs, 9 if you count the barking spiders album, (a mix of live pre-chisel, previously unreleased and old cold chisel songs) plus several live albums, that have a few bonus tracks, like the best ever version of wild thing and mixed ones.
Cold Chisel Midnight Oil kept the Aussie rock industry honest. I have seen the respect you have for our music, now you are beginning to see why it is more about integrity than dollars.
Thank you so much for doing my favourite song from Australian rock royalty Cold Chisel. Both my wife and I have loved it for 40 years and when I just played this on RUclips my 3 y.o. grandson looked at us in wonder as we both belted out the lyrics. Speaks to our youth, dead end jobs and wanting to run to the Northern Territory. Cold Chisel had great song writers Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes fantastic singers and the most melodic songs you will ever hear from a so called Aussie Pub Rock band. They are having a reunion tour later this year and all us 60+ grandpa's and grandma's will be there enjoying every second.
I’m so happy to see a new generation enjoy Cold Chisel thanks to you. When I was a teenager, they were huge, and we didn’t really know how lucky we were to have bands like this around.
Cold Chisel gets alot of airplay on classic rock stations in NZ, Kiwis love them! Have to say, to my own shame, I didn't realise just how good a voice Ian Moss has!
You just have to do their live performance of “wild thing” its mind blowing 10/10 and Aussie rock at its best, everything from the energy of the lead vocals to the fantastic instrumentation.
WHEN THE WAR IS OVER - LIVE is Cold Chisel's best song for me. You'll never hear a better accoustic live performance of a song. Incredible lyrics and Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss at their very best.
Growing up in Australian 80’s 90’s these guys were OUR nations band, ohh how the rest of the world missed out not adopting these guys like the adopted AC/DC
Chisel are now in their 50th anniversary and touring towards the end of the year. Tickets for the concerts sold out extremely quickly but I eventually got tickets on my fourth opportunity.
The gravelly voice guy is Jimmy Barnes, the lead singer. The one on the guitar who was singing with the "bluesy" voice is Ian Moss, the lead guitarist. They often share vocals. Many songs to check out next, I'm going to go with either "Forever Now" or "Flame Trees" or "Ita" (feel good song about how they all had a crush on the evening news anchor 😂. There's actually a video on RUclips where they interview Ita Buttrose about it some years later).
Hi Rob and Amber, Catherine here from South Australia. Bow River is considered an absolute classic here in Oz. The lead singer of Cold Chisel, we just call them Chisel, is usually our national treasure Jimmy Barnes but Ian Moss, the fabby lead guitarist, sings lead vox on this song. Another Chisel song that Ian sings is called Never Before also on their East album. It's my favourite of the songs he sings lead on. I had the honour (that's the Australian spelling) of singing backing vocals with my gals Deb and Lisa for Ian when he toured as a solo artist in the 90s. Fun times.... Btw Cold Chisel was formed in Adelaide, my city, in the 70s. A lot of the best known Aussie rock bands came from here including Little River Band and The Angels. I have a great photo of Ian, the gals and me but I don't think I can add it here? I haven't seen your vids before tonight but when I saw that ya'll were reacting to Billy Vera doing At This Moment I almost flipped my lid! I saw Billy and the Beaters live in LA at a place that looked like a diner, I think it was called "At My Place" and when he sang that, and the 12 piece band played to perfection, and the mix was insanely excellent even though the PA looked like nothing good could possibly come out of it, I found my new encore song. Man Billy can sing. It warms my heart to see you guys playing Australian music so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
You have absolutely made my day/week/year!!! I only discovered your RUclips channel in the last 24 hours. You have just played Cold Chisel’s greatest song. Ian Moss on guitar is the best Aussie guitarist ever. The way you review these songs is wonderful, joyful and I cannot stop smiling. Great to see some 2,000s kids enjoying older music.
your girl gets it. this Aussie rock, started its life as pub rock. she can see herself in a beer garden or at an afternoon party, dancing in bare feet, with her girls and a drink in her hand.
The Lyrics of Cold Chisel songs are about everyday working class people working hard and their lives ------- ~Cheap Wine ~ Once I smoked a Danneman cigar I drove a foreign car Baby, that was years ago I left it all behind I had a friend, I heard she died On a needle, she was crucified Baby, that was years ago 🎶 🎶 ------- Forever Now Making his way down the stairs, he can't help but looking back Thinks of the things that they shared, there'll be no more turning back He thinks of the day they met The words that she said of love he just can't forget
The second guy to sing - Jimmy Barnes- is actually the lead singer- technically - but you could say they have two as both are just incredible. In fact all the band members can sing and write songs, this is Australia’s favourite rock band. Jimmy Barnes also has a hugely successful solo career.
This is Australian rock royalty, Mossy or Ian Moss on lead guitar and Barnesy or Jimmy Barnes screaming away on lead vocals. I grew up in Australia and in High School, Chisel was just on replay non stop. So many of the songs were anthems for the working class, so they resonated with so many. Listen to Ian Moss sing When the War is Over, the live version. Goosebump material.
50 th anniversary for Chisel this year! 🎉 Most amazing band with TWO amazing singers. Mossy is my favourite (he starts this song) , but the harmonies between Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes are sizzling! It’s the Cold Chisel secret sauce!
Aussie pub music at it's finest...Ian Moss and the legendary Jimmy Barnes... can't go wrong❤❤ much love from Perth Western Australia and enjoy more like Flame Trees, Saturday Night, Breakfast at Sweethearts and more ❤❤❤
The lead in this is Ian Moss. Normally Jimmy Barnes however. Flame Trees by Cold Chisel should be your next track before you dive into Jimmy Barnes solo career. That Singer Reactions fav male vocalist is Jimmy. I'm excited for this journey ahead.
Cold Chisel formed in 1973, have broken up and reformed a few times since and they are touring again later this year. I first saw them in 1975. Take a look and listen to "You Got Nothing I Want" (a rant against their US record company who treated them badly in their attempt to make it in the US market), the epic "Flame Trees" (about leaving a small country town and returning years later) and Ian Moss, backed by Don Walker on piano with a monumental rendition of Hoagy Carmichael's "Georgia On My Mind".
Bow River is in the Middle of nowhere in Northern Australia . Where it runs into the Lake there are crocodiles . There is a diamond mine nearby and the song is probably in reference to working on this mine. You would live on the mine site working long hours for days on end and then let lose when you had a few days off. The conditions are humid, hot and tough
GREAT SONG!! Ian Moss has an incredible voice!! Not many bands have 2 singers with such great voices. Try "When The War Is Over" or "Forever Now" next. OR if you want an incredible sax solo, try "My Baby".
So happy you got back to the Chisels. What a band. Please keep on exploring all their music & Jimmy Barnes (lead singer) solo career. You won’t be disappointed. There are plenty of great song suggestions here in the comments. Can’t wait to be at their 50th anniversary concert in October in Sydney. It will be a blast.
I just rewatched your reaction to John Farnham’s ‘Help’.. how did Jay not remember him as a great Aussie artist! Jays reaction to that song is so pure and beautiful! You def need to check out John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes duet ‘When Something is Wrong with My Baby’. 2 of the BEST Aussie vocalists 🖤
Other Aussie bands to check out would be Choirboys "Run to Paradise" and the Black Sorrows "Never Let Me Go" and "Come On, Come On" (harmonica and cowbell!) AND Baby Animals "Early Warning.
I've been waiting 3 1/2 years for you guys to get to this song. In 9 weeks i will see them play it live!! Chisel (as we Aussies like to refer to them) have a massive catelog if bangers. So here are my suggestions - Choir Girl, Cheap Wine, Breakfast at Sweethearts, When the War is Over, You Got Nothing I Want, Standing on the Outside, Flame Trees, Saturday Night, The Rising Son, and their live version of Wild Thing from their Last Stand Tour. Their current release - You Got to Move is great too.
watched these guys a couple of weeks ago on the first concert of their 50yr tour, they were amazing, this song was the closer. still just as good after all these years
I really enjoyed this song/reaction! It is right up my alley. There is another Australian band/artist for you to discover. The Easybeats with lead singer Stevie Wright. Maybe start chronologically with the more poppy sound "Friday on My Mind" by the Easybeats, French TV 1967. And it would be great if you ever could react to the song "Evie", solo Stevie Wright from 1974. It's a story song consisting of 3 parts. In my opinion it is best listened to as a whole. That will be 11 minutes.
Can I just recommend, and I may have mentioned them before. Weddings, Parties, Anything, especially their song A Tale They Wont Believe. It will Blow. Your. Mind. And it comes with a piano accordion! They've got a lot of other good songs but go straight into A Tale They Wont Believe...you wont regret it.
Guitarist Ian Moss led the vocals on this one, with Jimmy Barnes, usually up front, this time on backing. Such a great great back catalogue. I recommend you check out Breakfast at Sweethearts, Cheap Wine, and Flame Trees, just for starters.

For the harmonica it is astoundingly good!! 2003 ringside concert is the one to watch!
Yes! Listen to the 2003 concert version. You'll never forget the harmonico solo. Best ever!
2003 version is astounding
Jimmy Barnes took secondary vocals, but he is definitely someone you should explore more... try Stone Cold ft Joe Bonamassa - you won't regret it! Barnsey was around during the time of AC/DC and had equally as powerful vocals - still does! Don't forget you loved our Aussie John Farnham as well, so another song to listen to is Farnsey & Barnsey singing live When Something is Wrong with my Baby! Two amazing powerhouses singing soul/rock
Great suggestion!
Some Cold w Joe n Jimmy is a wonderful song
A family affair too
The ringside live version is on a whole nuther level with even better harmonica!.
Damn right...
They did the wrong version!!! How could they not do the 2003 Ringside version!!!! Arrhhhhhhhhh!!! They finally do Chisel and they do the wrong version of Bow River.
Yep ringside was the best version .
Totally
@@MariaBM1 Nothing wrong with Last Stand
Try “Flame Trees” next. Studio version. Being a small town girl, Amber will love it.
As much as I love Chisel doing that, I think the Sarah Blasko cover is better
@@prmckellar sorry mate. Have to disagree. But each to their own.
@@jamesmorgan4121 controversial, I agree. a very different pace and sound too.
Australian band
Jimmy Barnes is the lead singer but this song is sung by guitarist Ian Moss
Most of the songs were written by Keyboard player Don Walker.
@@chrisalldis3375Yup and his solo albums are worth a listen. Some absolute classics amongst them!
So much talent in Cold Chisel...two lead singers!
@@chrisalldis3375 But this one was written by Mossy
The studio version of When the War is Over ,is mind blowing...
Absolutely, got to do the studio version of that one.
Definately prefer the LIVE version myself, but both are awesome.
The Ringside version is fantastic!
Another legendary Australian band to check out - The Angels. Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again?, Marseilles, No Secrets are just three of the great songs they had.
Three out of many, many great songs!
NW GF FO
Jay and Amber, you will love Take A Long Line or Marseilles from The Angles. A great rocking fun band.
Hopefully the Jimmy Barnes (Cold Chisel lead) & John Farnham duet "When something is wrong with my baby" will be discovered soon 🤞 🇦🇺
Don't forget Diesel on guitar... 🎉💪🏼😊
I keep requesting this one!!! 👏👏👏
A live version, not the studio one.
This is what I came on to request!
Ive asked for it a few times, i think they need to hear the studio version first, and then listen to a live version. They will love it!
Aussies have been 5ruly blessed with great music. 70s & 80s were the best for pub rock.
@@sopwithpuppyYou forgot John Farnham, people always leave him out, don't get it.
Greatest Aussie rockers ever. So many great songs and they're still going strong in this, their 50th anniversary.
And if you do No Sense and dig it, then do Don't Let Go, Good Bye Astrid or Rising Sun, some good boogie there....
Then Barnsey and Farnsey, John Farnham, yet another great, huge rabbit hole, with When something is wrong With My Baby.
Going to Bow river, means driving for days, across to western Australia, then up the coast to the top end.
'No Good For You', 'Ita',' Four Walls', 'When the War is Over'
Rabbit hole...the guy was amazing...more...plus the other amazing Aussie bands
Funny isn't it, that they have discovered the Cold Chisel gold mine but have stuck their pick into it only a few times. I wonder how long it will take them to discover all the gold! :)
Lead singers are Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes, Jay and Amber you would both love the song Saturday Night by Cold Chisel with a bass and saxophone tune. There’s also Flame Trees, Choir Girl and When The War Is Over to check out.
Yep love Saturday night
Can't believe you haven't done "Stone Cold" yet,by Jimmy Barnes and Joe Bonamassa. This is a must do.
Or like, the other 30 great Cold Chisel songs!
@@sos2907
Jimmy & Joe’s
Stone Cold
is right up there with my favourites
‘Cheap wine’ is another one of their biggest hits. 😍
True story.
While I love the 80's Pub Rock I'd love to see them explore more of the aussie 90's stuff.
@@martinwhite3559 and Hunters and Collectors.
You forgot to mention Midnight Oil not just the best Australian band of all time but the best band from any country.
Their version of WILD THING is something to behold
YASSSSSSSS
A classic if ever there was one...and then hit replay to listen to it again!
You've just witnessed Australia's best ever band
I love that the Cold Chisel secret is finally sweeping America (in their 50 th year)!! There touring was stunted there due to management issues or something like that…
Facts
Ease up, AC/DC would like a word
@@manceanon7139Nah. Chisel all the way. AC/DC don’t have the variety of songs that Chisel do. I would say that in Australia Chisel would get more radio airplay
One of......😮
Speaking of Australian or Australian/New Zealand 80s rock bands, you haven't played Crowded House (Don't Dream It's Over) in a bit.
Definately need to check out some Split Enz.
They have played it previously however they need to do the live Opera House Concert in 1996 & 2006
@notanotherenigma7759 Thanks for reminding me of Tim Finn's solo songs! Just added them to Spotify. Yes, made my day's my favourite too
@@Shellgrit No worries, Shell, but I'm not sure Tim wrote it or he & Neil wrote it together.
Love this song but also check out:
-choir girl
-cheap wine
-flame trees
-when the war is over
-saturday night....
The list goes on and on!!!

ABSOLUTE AUSSIE LEGENDS!!!
I'm suggesting "Evie, parts 1,2 & 3." It is minutes long but can be played in 2 or 3 parts. It is a masterpiece written by Vander and Young( Angus's brother) for Stevie Wright of the Easybeats. You won't be disappointed, I promise.❤
Should say 11 minutes long
Absolute classic - still amazing to this day - the live version from the Opera House - wow.
Roctober '79 on Sydney Harbour is the only one to watch. The Cheetah girls voices are exceptional through this.
Yes😊😊😊
Maybe the greatest song of all time!
I predict Cold Chisel will become one of your all-time favourite bands!.👍
So many bangers!.
50yr tour this year too!.
More please!.
Lots of American channels are now reacting to Chisel. Word of how great they are is spreading like wildfire.
Cold Chisel and Ian Moss rock it every time .As suggested below. Crowded house are another much treasured , iconic aussie/NZ band.
Jimmy Barnes isn’t singing lead vocals on this one, but he’s an Australian national treasure! Please do his song Ride The Night Away, and the song he sang with INXS (who I know you love), Good Times.
Flame trees. Great cold chisel song
Cold Chisel Aussie rock at its finest!!!!!! All talented with Jimmy roaring!
Please Jay and Amber do the LIVE VERSION of Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham "When Something is wrong with my Baby". It really showcases both of their great voices.
Greetings from Melbourne Australia ❤
YES I’ve been suggesting this for a long time!
Fingers crossed😅@@bethwodephotography
Oooh after just hearing Jay say more about Ian Moss (lead in this song), Ian had huge hit with "Tuckers Daughter".
Red Sands... great track!
Ian's "Georgia on my mind" is even better than Ray Charles' version.
Just been revisiting another great Aussie band Divinyls music last couple days and came across this.. (I think the algorithm is onto me..) too much nostalgia !!
The main singer on this song (Bow River) Ian Moss does a beautiful version of Georgia on my mind...worth a look guys :)
If you haven't yet --- When the war is over is one of the big hitters by cold chisel.
You're listening to Jimmy Barnes (Lead vocals) and Ian moss (lead guitar/vocals)
The Black Sorrows - Never let me go. Amber you will absolutely love. Great one for LADYS FRIDAY. Also you have got to do more Divinyls
Not to mention it has cowbell, and Amber loves the cowbell.
Best Cold Chisel song imo, love these guys
Rocking band. We are off to see Cold Chisel in concert again in a few months - for the 5th time. So Good!!!
Amber, you're right in wanting to hear the studio version too.
Cold Chisel Midnight Oil kept the Aussie rock industry honest. I have seen the respect you have for our music, now you are beginning to see why it is more about integrity than dollars.
YES!! Finally!! I’ve been waiting for you to listen to this song! One of their best.
And don't forget that the Bee Gees are really an Australian act. They got their start here before the rest of the world discovered them.
WHEN THE WAR IS OVER - LIVE is Cold Chisel's best song for me. You'll never hear a better accoustic live performance of a song. Incredible lyrics and Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss at their very best.
Ringside version is fantastic
Great to see some 2,000s kids enjoying older music.
your girl gets it.
this Aussie rock, started its life as pub rock.
she can see herself in a beer garden or at an afternoon party,
dancing in bare feet, with her girls and a drink in her hand.
The Lyrics of Cold Chisel songs are about everyday working class people working hard and their lives
-------
~Cheap Wine ~
Once I smoked a Danneman cigar
I drove a foreign car
Baby, that was years ago
I left it all behind
I had a friend, I heard she died
On a needle, she was crucified
Baby, that was years ago

-------
Forever Now
Making his way down the stairs, he can't help but looking back
Thinks of the things that they shared, there'll be no more turning back
He thinks of the day they met
The words that she said of love he just can't forget
Cold Chisel provided the soundtrack to my teens and early 20's. Every lyric you wrote fills me with so many memories.
My favourite cold chisel song. More cold chisel.
Cold Chisel are an iconic Aussie band. Classic "pub rock". Worth checking out also Hunters and Collectors
The second guy to sing - Jimmy Barnes- is actually the lead singer- technically - but you could say they have two as both are just incredible. In fact all the band members can sing and write songs, this is Australia’s favourite rock band. Jimmy Barnes also has a hugely successful solo career.
Definitely worth listening to the ringside. Live version . Superb vocals unbelievably good harmonica and the whole band fires
Guest on harmonica is Broderick Smith...check out Lucky to be an Australian- Broderick Smith's Big Combo.
I think you will find that it is David Blight
50 th anniversary for Chisel this year! 🎉
Most amazing band with TWO amazing singers. Mossy is my favourite (he starts this song) , but the harmonies between Ian Moss and Jimmy Barnes are sizzling! It’s the Cold Chisel secret sauce!
Aussie pub music at it's finest...Ian Moss and the legendary Jimmy Barnes... can't go wrong❤❤ much love from Perth Western Australia and enjoy more like Flame Trees, Saturday Night, Breakfast at Sweethearts and more ❤❤❤
Lead singer Jimmy Barnes. Did some amazing solo stuff as well
Saw them perform in dunedin many years ago. Great band and hugely popular as they sung about life
guys, the lead singer is Ian Moss, a very fine guitarist too.
They are my favourite Aussie band
Fecking amazing. Unlike so many brilliant live..amazing band
Hi from Australia. Cold Chisel without a doubt among Australia’s best bands . They’ve been around since the 70s and Jimmy Barnes still going.
An iconic Cold Chisel song is Saturday Night. Bluesy and slow, Mossy and Barnseys voices blend so well
The lead in this is Ian Moss. Normally Jimmy Barnes however.
Flame Trees by Cold Chisel should be your next track before you dive into Jimmy Barnes solo career.
That Singer Reactions fav male vocalist is Jimmy.
I'm excited for this journey ahead.
'Shipping Steel' & You got nothing I want. Cold Chisel.
Plus one for Shipping Steel.
This band does the best version of Wild Thing I have ever seen.
Yessss! About damn time! Australia loves you!
Love Chisel going to see them live in a couple of months. Ian Moss singing Georgia is a must 👍
GREAT SONG!!
Australia calling here , Thank you for loving and introducing our music legends to the rest of the world we have so many more you check out
Other Aussie bands to check out would be Choirboys "Run to Paradise" and the Black Sorrows "Never Let Me Go" and "Come On, Come On" (harmonica and cowbell!) AND Baby Animals "Early Warning.
Don't forget the Angels. And the Radiators. All great bands from back in the day.
Never let me go is superb. Surprised that so few have had the pleasure of hearing it. None that do are ever disappointed.
@@kevinpaine7893Absolutely and the film clip is great too, the way she carries herself, you ain’t arguing with that lady. This song is perfect.
Their current release - You Got to Move is great too.
watched these guys a couple of weeks ago on the first concert of their 50yr tour, they were amazing, this song was the closer. still just as good after all these years
If you like the harmonica then watch the 2003, ringside concert version of this song, David Blight takes it to another level.
Piss all my money up against the damn wall, best lyric ever.
Can’t wait to see Cold Chisel in a couple of months on their 50th anniversary tour.
Lucky you! been 11 years since i last saw them live!
Guitarist Ian Moss led the vocals on this one, with Jimmy Barnes, usually up front, this time on backing. Such a great great back catalogue. I recommend you check out Breakfast at Sweethearts, Cheap Wine, and Flame Trees, just for starters.
Just to let you know, the latest tour in Aus has been put on hold, because Jimmy Barnes has a medical condition, great Aussie band
Ain't nothing like an Aussie pub band.
