So many of our stunning bands/artists were told to go overseas to ‘make it’ and so many treated badly. Cold chisel came home, wrote a clear message to the record execs (the song “you got nothing I want”) and were here to be loved, enjoyed and inspired by the Aussie fans. The world lost out because of ignorant record execs. Australia valued the home grown talent and the fact that videos from decades ago are now being reviewed and revered speaks for itself. Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi!!!

And the rest, Australian Crawl, Men At Work, Angels, Saints, Divinyls, Oils, Sunnyboys, Split Enz, Crowded House, Mentals. We were so spoilt. I just saw Crowded House supported by Teskey Brothers supported by Julia Stone in November. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G night in a park in Canberra, in Canberra! And Nick Cave in the same month.

No one would have ever thought a harmonica could be a main instrument. Except for “Blowing in the Wind”😊. This is right up there, but in a different sort of way. Billy Joel also used it effectively in “Piano Man”. It’s an underrated instrument.
It sort of reminds me of the use of the flute in “Land Down Under”. Obscure instruments getting some recognition over the vocalists.

Look up the keywords “Territorial evolution AustralIa” in wiki. You’ll see that New Zealand was a state of Australia until 1901 when federation occurred. NZ was given a choice to join but they never answered yes or no. Until 1994 Kiwis and Aussies didn’t need a pass port to travel between the two countries. Under the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement introduced in 1973, Australian and New Zealand citizens are able to enter each other’s country to visit, live and work indefinitely, without the need to apply for prior authority. New Zealand is the only country in the world that has such an arrangement with Australia. There are no caps on the numbers of New Zealanders who may enter under the arrangement, and the only limitations on entry relate to health and character requirements.
Australia and New Zealand are the closest brother countries in the world.

Cold chisel created loads of great hits in the 70s, 80s and 90s, sadly broke up so Jimmy Barnes “singer” and Ian Moss “lead guitar and singer”, could pursue their own solo careers. I never understood how the world didn’t embrace Cold Chisel. I was fortunate to see them play an impromptu tour warm up gig at Parra Leagues Club, it was either 80 or early 81. It wasn’t advertised. There were no lights. Just the band and about a half full auditorium as the only ones who knew were those in the club that night, or people who’d heard through word of mouth that day. I worked there and was picking up my pay when an announcement was made on the club’s PA system. I immediately rang a mate off a pay phone (of course it was pre mobile phones. What I witnessed was two hours of music and chaos beyond description. All of their songs up to the Circus Animals album, covers. Jimmy Barnes leaping off the stage and running along the tables that were still there from Bingo and kicking all the glasses, bottles and beer jugs out of his way, then jumping into the middle of the crowd - all this with the old cord mic and the roadies trying to keep the cord intact. He smashed into the shoulder of my mate on his way back to the stage. What a night!

Those were the best times , we were all spoiled rotten with choices on who to go and see every weekend.l remember seeing the Oils , Cold Chisel and the Angels together on the one night at the Family for $6.The line went for about half a k to get in and when we got to the door l heard one of the bouncers say we are only licensed for 250 and there is already over 700 in there. The first band l saw was Mi Sex ,1978 then LRB, Dragon ,Sunnyboys ,Radiators ,Ozzie Crawl ,Hoodoos ,Inxs etc.

Loved these guys - the best thing was seeing them as Barking Spiders at the Observer Hotel under the Harbour Bridge in Sydney trying out their new material...

I’ve seen footage of that concert and song, but never that particular one. Similar, but from different angles. Great reaction mate.

    🤣🤣🤣 it's not bad isn't it
Watch their earliest version of (wild thing )live performance (last stand version )
You'll see how good mossy guitar 🎸 works is he's the guy who started the song on one we just watched
He matches jimmy's voice with the guitar 🎸 and someone screaming in audience
It's got amazing music singing and they do alot of freestyling during song
This is when they where young and you'll see how much audience loves jimm6 and him the crowd
Cheers mate that's one of the best reactions I've seen for this it had you in your sole 🦘🇦🇺👍

They are Cold Chisel. They played the soundtrack of my life. I saw them in suburban pubs. I saw them in huge arenas. I saw them in country town music halls. They have an entire back-catalogue, and you could do a reaction video to each and every track.
