You're witnessing "The Voice" -John Farnham, and Jimmy Barnes of Cold Chisel, two of the best voices that Australia has ever created. They individually have sooooo many great songs, you could rabbit hole them both for weeks or months
Don't forget the cameo from Johnny Diesel on guitar there. a very talented young musician/singer (at that time) but Jimmy broke some shackles around this time going from screaming chisel front man, to a legit singer. awesome (I'm not gonna start with J.F. If I start listing his greatness, I'll. never stop
Hey Helovanite. John was born in England anJimmy in Scotland but they are Australian. We are a nation of immigrants. An Australia gave them the life the breaks and the appreciation. Can’t believe the USA didn’t want John in the 70’s -80’s. Crazy. He’s a mega star and Jimmy Barnes has had so many hits with Cold Chisel he’s an icon too. These guys fill huge stadiums around Oz and they are still singing.. So glad the world is finding out about them now. We love them. Awesome talent and nice guys.💙💙Tina NEILSEN.🇦🇺
I feel like a proud mum. I’ve just stumbled across 🇺🇸 people reacting to our national treasures and I couldn’t be prouder. Diesel on the guitar also a brilliant musician and singer. These guys are absolute legends down under. Thank you so much for your beautiful commentary and reaction.
People discovering the gift to music that is John Farnham is one of my favourite things to stumble upon on RUclips. They’re both phenomenal. Barnsey actually did a free busking gig in the centre if Melbourne today as part of an effort to get people back in the city after COVID shutdowns. National treasures.
Two of the greatest voices Australia has ever seen. John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes...absolute magic ❤ And Diesel on guitar...this song still blows me away every time I hear it. This is why John and Jimmy have been at the top for 50 years...they are brilliant. So proud to be an Aussie ❤
What a lot of people that are watching this video around the world don’t know is how ear splittin loud they are - last Barnesy gig I saw I couldn’t hear a thing for 3 days after - did I care - no way 😀 Barnesy, Farnesy and Diesel what a trio !
I’m very lucky to have grown up here in Australia listening to these three, it’s easy to forget that the the rest of the world missed out. And John Farnham ALWAYS sings from the soul, for me - he’s up there with Otis Redding.
So great seeing new people discovering John Farnham and Jimmy Barnes for the first time. Hidden gems from Australia. We have always known how great they are. But through RUclips reactions the rest of the world are discovering them as well. Thanks so much for the video 😊
I couldn't agree more with what you've said. I think most Aussies would be able to sing the songs of these two great artists, well maybe not the newer generations... Sadly. Nothing beats great lyrics put together with great music, especially melodies and all played/sung by great musicians. These guys were always on my mixed tapes growing up .... Showing my age there, lol.
Australia had some amazing singers and bands from the 80’s. Not many were picked up in America at the time but seem to be gaining traction 30 years later. Damn straight that’s how you do it live! No auto tune, no lip syncing. It feels like very few sing from the heart or tells beautiful stories these days. Thanks for sharing your reaction to these Aussie icons and for the trip down memory lane :)

Or as we call them - Barnesy and Farnesy! The most iconic male singers in Australia. John Farnham a solo singer, and Jimmy Barnes, first fronting Cold Chisel then going solo. This video looks like it was done innthe 80's. John Farnham, Australia's greatest singer of all time is now 71, has a phenomenal range, and can still sing amazingly well.
Aussie legends, all of them. I guess we take our home grown talent for granted until we see how people who have never seen them before react. Glad you appreciate just how good they are. Thank you!

I remember when this was released way back when. Gave me goosebumps then. Still does today. My God how Barnesy and Farnsey soar on this song!!! As if this song was written for them. An incredible and superb live performance on Hey Hey it's Saturday.
I once spoke the John after an LRB gig here in South Australia. They were 'on the nose' internationally and so they were playing smaller gigs. He was soaked in sweat by the end of the gig and I asked him why he gave so much he simply stated that that was the only way he could perform. It was all or nothing. He'd sang his heart out for hours and still had time to speak to us kids in the front row.
Farnsey started in the 1960's and transcends all genres. Barnsey is now a family dynasty (the third guy was his son-in-law), his kids had a childhood kid-band called the Tin Lids, and all grown up now, I have no doubt a third generation of excellent musicians is around the corner.
