- Even though RW appeared on a TV show saying it was some kind of lapse, the revised lyrics and timing reflect a well crafted move to get his message through. This video shows some of the things that were said about him way before the performance . And what a better platform than the FIFA opening ceremony to express his disapproval !!! Rather than a lapse, I think it is was genial move :) Please watch till the end and let me know if you agree with my conclusion?
Appearing on "This Morning" on June 19, Williams discussed his appearance. “At these things, it’s really important not to cause an international incident,” he said. “And do you know what? I managed it". He added "Nothing actually passes into my head. There’s a block between me and sense, and something happened and five minutes later I’m like, ‘Did I just… yeah I did, didn’t I?!'”
A BRILLIANT singer, songwriter and entertainer. Robbie is well known for his sense of humour.
Some seem to have been offended by the event shown in the video. Probably many outside the UK are unaware of the spiteful politicians who tried to discredit and even accused him of selling his soul to Putin !!!!! Shame on them !!!!

Einige scheinen durch das im Video gezeigte Ereignis beleidigt worden zu sein. Vermutlich sind sich viele außerhalb Großbritanniens der boshaften Politiker nicht bewusst, die ihn zu diskreditieren versuchten und ihn sogar beschuldigten, seine Seele an Putin verkauft zu haben !!!!! Schande über sie !!!!

Labour MP Stephen Doughty said “At a time when Russian jets are bombing civilians in Syria, the Russian state is poisoning people on the streets of Britain, as well as persecuting LGBT+ people in Chechnya and elsewhere - let alone attempting to undermine our democracies - I can only assume Robbie will be speaking out on these issues alongside his performance?”
John Woodcock MP, who sits on the home affairs committee, also condemned the former Take That member, who will be paid hundreds of thousands of pounds for the brief appearance.
“We all want to support the England team but Robbie Williams is handing Vladimir Putin a PR coup by performing at the thuggish pariah’s opening ceremony just months after Russia carried out a chemical weapons attack on English soil,” he said.

I have a different theory. The russians didn´t want him to perform the song Party Like A Russian. In the official video of Party Like A Russian, Robbie flips his finger too. I think he went to russia to make a statement and take a piss on Putin. Knowing that he could make that reference without the chance of anybody stopping him. The guy is a genious.
