- "THE BED YOU MADE FOR ME"
darlin' were you listenin' when i called you late last night
or did the sleep set in your eyes, did it blind me from your sight
or was she lyin' with you, was it hard for you to speak
and did you tell her she was sleepin' in the bed you made for me
and did you tell her she was sleepin' in the bed you made for me
did she like my satin sheets and did you sing her to sleep
and my pillow that she slept on, did it bring her sweet dreams
did you tell her she was sleepin' in the bed you made for me
the pillow that you made for me it was soft with feather down
the headboard it come from an old house
that was about to be torn down
and the songs you always sang to me, oh as i fall asleep
did they sound the same to her in the bed you made for me
now you can take my old pillow and throw it out the door
you can buy another bed, you can find another headboard
'cus i ain't gonna lie beneath my satin sheets ye torn
the bed you made for me, it isn't mine anymore!
We need this kind of country music to make a comeback
I agree with you this is the absolute best traditional country music
Paulette has a one of a kind of voice that can't be matched!!🤗🤗🤗
I’m about to sing it soon on the StarMaker app. I go by Celia_Sparks.
This type of music is what makes country music great - not the crap that is put out today!
I grew up on this music with my parents RIH mom n dad I will listen to this music today partying up a storm just like my parents would
Agree
Mike Dobbins this is the kind of music I grew up listening to !!! It’s when country was actually country music !!! All good clean music the kids could even listen to it
Michelle Boyd You hit the nail on the head. Country music now is unbearable.
Got that right
This was the last real of the real country music as I remember country. Country music began its downhill slide around 1992 or 93 and will never be the same again. Highway 101,Sweethearts of the Rodeo,Restless Heart just to name a few of the great country artists from the late 80's that I could listen to over and over. I hit repeat at least 4 times on this song.
You exactly right , by 1993 it was done 👎🏼
Well have faith. I still play that old school music. Been bangin 'em out for 33yrs now & ain't stopping no time soon!
Yes, the watershed is Garth Brooks. Before him, country was country. With his appearance in the scenes, country was lost forever. With a few exceptions.
8 years later, you were 💯 correct.
Garth Brooks was the catalyst that killed country music. When I saw him on tv smashing guitars in concert back in the early 90s I knew it was only a matter of time.
Paulette Carlson is country's answer to Stevie Nicks. Why in the world did she stop recording? Love her voice.
She sounds just like Stevie Nicks all right. Is it me or does she look like the late great Sally Kellerman?
Agree completely!
😢 Sadly drug's
@@wildestcowboy2668 ......
I don't think so, she met a construction worker from Alaska fell in love and got married to live in Alaska. Is what she said in an interview years ago.
@@lindatimmons3675 either way I think she was sexy and I used to make love to my wife and pretend she was her
Now this is real country music ! Love me some Highway 101 !
I have to say that this is the best song of H 101
For sure for sure!
Paulette Carlson , enough said ! 🤩👍
not really a bad song from this group but many gems
Pure country music sound. Fans truly enjoy listen to radio stations. Songs use listen on my job. But back 1980s / 1990s
Such good memories. Such a great band, and Paulette Carlson’s voice. Incomparable.
Totally agree Audrey,Keith Kimmey
Yeah she was the bomb!!!
@@marciathehooligan9967 She still is Thanks Marcia
@@keithkimmeysr953 you're welcome 🤗
This is priceless country music at its finest.Highway 101 was greatest country bands of all time love there music.
❤
The Grammy nominated country band, Highway 101 was one of the world's finest country bands of all time - especially they have appeared together in a wide range of variety shows from
the Netherlands, including "Years Later" on NPO since 1996.
Haven't heard this song in years! Still love it as much today as I did then!
Awesome voice and real country.not like the modern trash of today. Ricky van shelton is another fave of mine. Holly dunn. Lorri morgan. All superb voices that beat the pants off modern country
That is for sure today country music has nothing on Highway 101
@elvis096presley You got that right. RVS is awesome. Also, Billy Dean. Martin DelRay. Martina McBride. Robin Lee . Mel McDaniel. Patty Loveless. The list goes on... but let us not forget the 70's, with Crystal Gayle, Anne Murray, Linda Ronstadt, and [Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter]...
elvis0960presley well said !
Taylor swift anyone in2019? Hahaha! What a sorry bitch!!!!-
Modern country is awful...and not country
A crying in your beer classic if ever there was one . They NEED to bring this sound back to the country music scene 🙌
I've never been more frustrated than the last few years of double checking my radio settings. Keep thinking my teenagers changed it to some shitty pop channel.
Nearly all "country" produced these days is crap.
My father was a classmate of hers in small town Moose Lake, MN (shoutout!) so this was constantly in our cassette player in the 80’s and 90’s.
Paulette Carlson and the singer that took over for her in highway 101 her name was Nikki....... I'm from Minnesota also.
We need more twang ❤
Nikki is a beter sounding singer!
I'm in my mid thirties, and was brought up on all kinds of music, but this is one that I'll never forget.
Me 2!!
Me too! I'm in Love with her voice...I could listen to her sing the ABCs☺
Yes she has a one of a kind voice really country.
Good music at any year
I am 42 me too
this is the type of country music i grew up listing to. I was born in 1985 and i still listen to country music unlike most of my generation who listens to that crap they call music
Possibly the greatest female vocalist in country music, she is absolutely fantastic !!
She's top 5 but
Wynonna , Reba , Terri Clark and Faith Hill. Not to mention Crystal Gale and Sylvia have a round in the fight also. It's too damn hard to pick the best when you listen to a lot of music.
@@CharlieRootsMusic Your right, I forgot about those ladies, and Janie Fricke too.
@@jim5746 I'm a Wynonna fan but I love the voices of the many ladies mentioned and more.
@@CharlieRootsMusic Another great female country singer is Patsy Cline
@@CharlieRootsMusic And we can't leave Dolly out of that group.
Paulette is a National Treasure American Country Music had a Winner here Unique and Wonderful.
Love this song. You were my other half’s favorite singer . He died January 2022 . We always danced to this song. Your a great singer God bless you
HECK YEAH! LOVE 101👍❤ 1987 WAS A GREATTT TIME TO BE ALIVE❤ SUCH AMAZING REAL COUNTRY! SURE MISS THOSE GOOD OLE DAYS...
PAULETTE WROTE THIS FROM A TRUE LIFE EXPERIENCE COUNTRY MUSIC MASTERPIECE THANKS,STERRSHINE
Paulette rocks ... she has a fantastic voice - love to hear her music - hurray for Highway 101... thanks for posting
in 1989 i had the pleasure of seeing Highway 101 live at the Kansas State Fair. It was a cold and windy night, she had a gauze dress on and her headlights were on! LOL GREAT TIME!!!
Hello Karen
I'm 41 years old, I've been listening to this song since elementary school. I like the old country songs . Those were the good ol days!!!
How are you? So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song.
I had the privilege to work with Paulette’s husband, Randy. He was my Supervisor on a high profile project in the Houston area. Sadly, he passed away last year. He was an amazing guy and spoke highly of Paulette. I’m no country music fan, but I find myself coming back to this song when I think of him from time to time.
I. THINK. PAULETTE. IS. Just. Wonderfulll. Love. Here. Very. Much
Thanks for sharing Paulettes a diamond RIP Randy
Too bad you don't hear great country songs like this anymore. Amazing. Reminds of Pasty Cline. Almost.
+bellboy407 Jeanne Pruett's song "Satin Sheets".
right its not the same for sure
Theyre both TERRIFIC
I'd put Paulette Carlson 🤩 against anyone ... any Country singer . She's that good !
I love this song. Still listing to this song in 2019 and will always listen to it
You got my vote I blast this one 500 watts and all the 10" in speakers rocking
Love it !
Good country music right there, wish we had more of it today....
I hoard it
We can only hope that the good generation can pass on some of their talent to the ones today
No its been dead since the mid 1990s 😩👎🏼
@@davegeisler7802 "Who Can It Be Now?" (1982) - Men at Work.
Anyone who claims that a woman can't sing a Country song that opens a can of "Whoop Ass" has not heard this bulldozer! (I love that twangy guitar solo in the middle too.) When KSAN FM played this song on the radio and I caught it, I always cranked it up.
I've been listening to Country and Western music all my life its my type of bliss. Better than any of this modern music and 1 hit wonders that are out thats for sure. Love it. 👍
Reading these comments it seems most everyone has the same consensus. Times change but we don't. This "Newness" is growing old! It has effected every aspect of our lives. From country music to church music, rock, pop...etc...
There's no FEELING left in society and it's really sad!
It's a pleasure to listen to the voice of this beautiful Minnesota girl!
Paulette Carlson WAS Highway 101 🤩👍
brings back happy memories this is how country should be!
+Shannon Hodson This is real country.
true very true
+Noah Bangs hi I love this song too
yes very ture
Very well said, agreed 100%. January 1987, was when this was released; I was a high school, senior, and big into country. Still am,actually, one of these days I plan to make a playist of country songs from 1983-1987,,my high school years, when I would often tune into Z 107 FM,the radio station that was the country station at the time,in my hometown of York,Pa.
Это Мировая Классика!!!Beautiful song and your voices.!!!С Уважением Валерий Щербаков!!!
Pure country!!!!
Country music always told it as it is! Miss highway 101 and will always cherish the sound, the songs and the music. This music is only for people who are down to earth and authentic. So, only home grown people can really understand country music.
Just plain good music
yes it is
Paulette’s vocals will NEVER ..ever.. cease to amaze me. Then now and forever. Powerful and full tilt. Would love to see this band in a live show, front row and center❤
One of the most remarkable country bands to ever get together- country hit its peak with Highway 101 and the band; from there on its all gone downhill.
I love to hear this gal sing, No one to take her place
This is Country when it was real country and I miss it on the radio so much nut thanks to here I can listen to all the good hits from the good Ol days
Hello Amber
Ahhh memories.
I remember me & my sister dancing to this around the kitchen, with our babies on our hips, singing along.
That's a sweet memory.
I miss days like that. The world was much simpler
then.
Grammy Award nominee Paulette Carlson is one wonderful mom. She's very happy with her
children as well as her adopted ones too. Wonderful Memories. As far as I'm concerned,
I remember every mother & daughter dancing to this around the kitchen, with their babies
on their hips, singing along. Paulette Carlson is still a part of the Highway 101 family where
she always get in touch with them - every step of the way. She also found some great success
as both opera singer/vocalist from Fall 1992-present, starting with "World in Union" - performed
by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa for Sony Music Entertainment. Followed by a number of genres: opera,
pop, gospel, rhythm & blues, rock & roll, reggae, C&W, Broadway, TV/film music that made
audiences and fans very happy to enjoy.
Very underrated county group to this day. I have the greatest hits. A must listen!
I dearly love the classical country music and the stars of old country. I get tired of the sreaming and hollering what some call country music today. So sad. I know times change things. But classic country needs to live forever....
Beautiful. Always loved it. I still have my handmade bed. 26 years old. My husband left me 10 years ago on my birthday which was also our 13th anniversary for my childhood friend..we divorced buy still friends they married now and happy..Nice to be nice
Probably one of my top 20 All-time Favorite Country Hits.
True Country!
Hello Christine
Paulette Carlson the Stevie Nicks of country! Love Her
This was my grandmothers favorite song to blare on the system she had in her house ❤️ I miss her so much!
Your grandma must not be that old because I remember singing this in my band In the 90s
Did you tell she was sleeping in a bed that was made for me....wow, what a great song Could listen to this non stop. A great song to say the least...
The best country music ever todays country could never compare
this the way country should be sung. THIS IS REAL COUNTRY !
Clay walker
This is the song that got me hooked on country music in the 80s. Thirty years later, I still love this song.
good to hear real country music I grew up on!
One of the best country songs ever produced tks for posting it!
This is like a time machine to my childhood.
Loved them back in the day. Got to see them too. 🙂 This is real Country.
love this band she has such good voice for country
She did some great backing vocals for JJ Cale
Besides country, Paulette Carlson finally did a great pair of backing vocals for Dame Kiri Te Kanawa
(Gershwin, Kern, Porter, Berlin) and Barbara Hendricks (Disney) for Angel Classics under
Universal Studios since 1997.
Paulette Carlson has the most beautiful voice of any Female Country Artist, bar none!
Highway 101 you're still my favourite out of all the country music..❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My parents saw these guys at Keyano College in Fort McMurray Alberta in the 90's. Man I wish I was alive at that time. So many great artists 👍🏽
Don't wish too hard, I had a chance to see Highway 101 at a camp ground in 80's but I didn't go. I'm almost 60 now. That was actually the "end" of good country music as far as I am concerned. The 1960's had the best. ruclips.net/video/f9aIJ4uUzqA/видео.html
I was fortunate to see HW 101 in concert live back in the early 1990s when they opened for Ricky Skaggs. They were fabulous. I still listen to their music all the time, especially when I'm on the road. My wife and I met and fell in love when their music was on the country radio stations... can't hear "Do You Love Me (Just Say Yes)" without thinking of that wonderful, magical time. Too bad this group split up, because they had something special.
I seen highway 101 with hank Williams Jr and the Kentucky head hunters. Awesome concert..
This was once my Mom's favorite song. We listened to it together on the radio at her house. Wow, I love the song too. Brings back pleasant memories around the mid 80's.
That's how country should be sung. I first heard this group singing this song on an Irish Radio Show two weeks ago. Glad I wrote it down. Great voice.
What a voice.classy lady.true country.
I love her distinctive voice 😍 😭 ❤ 💕 ♥
That voice definitely is just as unique as Stevie nicks no fooling man.......
I cant get enough of this kind of music I really love this band keep down loading them
Hello Brenda
Hi way 101 was great, Paulette Carlson was a star!!! She made that babd what it was, I dearly miss hearing her singing on radio!
Great band, loved her voice!
I always have thought the same thing I was blessed to see her when that original album and the tour here in Bakersfield, California was happening she had a beautiful voice and stage presence about her and the original members did I guess sadly to say a short lived great country music band
Absolutely GREAT music ... and what a fabulous voice!!!
Why do we have to have comments with such filthy language with such beautiful music?
Just askin'
This is real country music
This is great. Awesome singer, great band...reminds me why country music will always be my first love.
One of the bands I saw in person and got all 4 autographs on a photo. Awesome music. Awesome songs.
The pride of Minnesota. The great Paulette Carlson. She proved that you don't have to be from Dixie. To sing country music.
Country music is indelibly connected to southern states like Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. So can it be that a great song can come from a singer- in this case Paulette Carlson- from Minnesota? You betcha!
Country music came from the Irish settlers in the Appalachians. They were not welcomed when they came here, so the clans headed up into the mountains with their fiddles and their stills. Their music came down out of the mountains with songs about the hard life there. Later came the mining songs. Step dancing became clogging and jigs became reels.
good music is where u find it
Well really country in it's various forms and styles came from several places, the Eastern stuff for sure came from the Scotch/Irish and English settlers of the Appalachian hills. Western and Southwestern music came from Spanish, Mexican, German settlers and old cowboy songs. Throw in old slave songs and the like and you got country.
She is from the Hawley, Minnesota, 50 miles from where I used to live.
I grew up listening go these women of country no on can sang em like em anymore
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN FOR COUNTRY MUSIC. DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU PAULETTE BUT I WISH YOU WOULD GET HOLD OF ME. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
She sang at the Alaska State Fair a few years ago. Still great. I believe she lives in Wasilla, Alaska now.
I didn't know that
Great band and harmony on the vocals
Fantastic voice , great country D. T.
Not a big country fan, but love Paulette Carlson..Great voice!
Just came across this today. Listening over and over. This is country.
the nostalgia is giving serious goosebumps.
I have loved this song for nearly three decades. Thanks
Brilliant vocals and song enjoyed listening thanks for sharing :)).
what a beautiful voice...true artists.
this great song is still being played on 94.7 KBKW. love this good old stuff!!
Real Country was nearing an end and we have these folks to help close out what was a memorable time that will never be forgotten. Now we have the likes of "Taylor Swift" playing pop and it is accepted as Country.....how truly sad it is.
George had it right from back in the eighties "who's gonna fill their shoes." .....nobody.
The masterpiece just reminds me of my last relationship.why hurt someone who's intention was to love you 😢
Paulette is the singer I keep coming back to when I need to hear a good country song.
I was a teenager when this song was released. Loved it then just like I love it now. Almost 51 now.
great song i still have the cd and the tape listening to em daily cant handle the radio any more
Beautiful song love it
Hello Anna
This is first class country music what more can you say?
Beautiful song
Hello Cathleen 👋 Simple music can make you sing, a simple hug can make you feel, better, simple things can make you happy, I hope my simple hello will put a smile on your face..
A great group love highway 101
This song caught the last train out of here... and I'm running after it, waving my ticket!, hold a seat for me!
Nashville would NEVER promote a song or band like this today. Nashville needs a redo like when Willie and Waylon turned them upside down in the 70’s
Truly #1
