I'm 24 years old and heard this song for the first time a couple months ago while driving through the mountains in Tennessee. That's the best place to hear that real country and it was an experience I'll never forget.
I heard it while being lost looking for my girlfriend's bluegrass band show, we missed it, but we had an absolutely adventurous day and this song came on by chance, she and I looking through CD's to listen to.
I'm 46 years old and I've been listening to this man all my life, and let me tell you folks this man can sing, listen how pure his voice is,he can SING PERIOD.SING THE HELL OUT OF IT RONNIE ,YOU DESERVE WAY MORE RECOGNITION FOR SURE BRO.THANKU FOR YOUR MUSIC I LOVE IT.
I love how Ronnie had all of these songs about love, life, work, struggles, lovin' and the good things in the world we live in. I knew a waitress in CA back in the early 90's whose sister was Ronnie's housekeeper for many years. She told me a lot about Ronnie and showed me pictures of her sis & family, of her & her husband & kids all visiting with Ronnie at his big old house I believe she said was in Knoxville. Imagine that! A country music super star entertaining the help and her family. She said he was the most down to earth most humble man she ever met and a genuine good guy. I always had the sense that he was something very special. She told me that he most certainly is and that for one thing Ronnie is a Christian - a real one, not one who plays church on Sunday, but one who lives it everyday. He has such a gift. I always loved his music! God bless ya Ronnie!
I love Ronnie milsap and I'm sure Ronnie Milsap is a great Christian but as far as the music industry goes they worship Satan you can't serve two masters.
When my dad would play this when I was younger I immediately loved this song and now 10 years later it’s 2024 and now I’m trying to get other people to listen to the song g because this is what i call the best song of all time
Love this song! It fits my parents as dad worked long hours. But mom always had dinner ready in a clean house and us kids cleaned up w homework done. It has been my father's song for mom since it came out! It holds more now that she has terminal cancer and he's the one keeping those home fires burning for her. Thank you forever Ronnie for the music we listened to in the Smokies as they held hands and sang. God bless you ❤
I remember when Loretta Lynn introduced Ronnie during the 1985 CMA award show, Ronnie played this song, afterwards Ronnie got a double standing ovation for his performance!
"She keeps the home fires burning While I'm out earning a living in a world That's known for its pouring rain" These are some beautiful lyrics. Mike, Don and Dennis wrote it , Ronnie Milsap brought it to life. This song will never get old. PURE classic REAL country!
I’m 60 years old and I just found the love of my life….. I just want to say thank you to Ronnie Milsap for theses Love songs . And to all who want love ….. Two things to never let go of: Never settle for the “love “ you want to have AND the LOVE you want to give
Having been an on and off fan of country music for 50 years, I must say that 1965 to 1985 recordings have provided the most enjoyment for my ears. This song, and Mr. Milsap, always bring a smile to my face.
This was my husband's favorite song back in the day when he was earning a livingfor us and our 3 children. I still play it for us as he has earned his wings. ❤
I'm 14 and I love all of the classics! Ronnie Milsap, Eddie Rabbit, Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Bros., Conway Twitty, George Jones, George Strait, Loretta lynn, Willy, Hank, Merle Haggard, Charley Pride, Lee Greenwood, Johnny Cash, ect.
My man wakes up at 5. Leaves for work at 6:15 every morning. Gets to work at 7 and works his ass off until he gets off at 4. I love when 5 o’clock rolls around everyday. Suppers waiting on him. He comes home to a clean house. His clothes are laid out for a shower.. we eat supper together and I get him for the rest of the day. ❤️❤️
Awesome. Now if only I could find a woman like you that your blessed husband has. I'm always working with no one to share life with. Maybe I need to move out of Texas and live in Tennessee instead. Someday... Ronnie's music will always make me feel at home. Been listening since 1979. God bless your marriage. NEVER STOP DATING EACH OTHER. NO MATTER WHAT. God bless you two.
If every man worked as hard as yours, and every woman was as understanding as you - the world would be such a better place. Sounds like you have a true love together. Very rare. Soak it up and treasure it, for yourself - and for those of us who never find it. It's a blessing.
I came here to the comments wondering if what this song (and your comment) describes actually exists in reality. What a priceless thing to have that kind of appreciation and attention flowing both ways. Hold onto a treasure like that!
I remember Ronnie performing this song live on television during one of the award shows back in 1985, what a standing ovation he received. Last year in January I heard him perform the song live in concert for the very first time, as it was a tribute to my wife.
My favorite memory of this song was hearing Ronnie perform it live during a Jan 2010 concert, it was a song I had requested to hear during a live concert, to my complete surprise, the song was played. It was a song I dedicated to my wife who truly keeps those home fires burning with a love without end amen.

I'm also a fan of Ronnie Milsap and today i discovered this song on the radio while driving on an open freeway seeing clear skies heading to a guitar center. Another great tune from Ronnie and the Wow is quite strong on this one. That is all i can say. Being blind don't mean a thing. He is truly blessed.
