Hi Bill and Lisa! I'm 13 miles north of you in the suburbs. That McDonald's was a 60's themed McDonalds before they tore it down and built the now ecofriendly version recently. There are no different items there except for a few desserts (World Corporate Headquarters is in the West Loop, and that location sells items not featured in other locations). Your McDonalds/Portillo's/RainForestCafe instersection is very close to Eataly even though you've been to other locations, still worth your while. Portillo's: I recommended the Italian Beef dipped, the chopped salad, cheese fries, the Chicago hotdog, and some people swear by the chocolate cake shake; that said, that particular Portillo's isn't the best, workers can be rude there. As you probably know, there were crazy riots and looting a few weeks ago in Michigan Avenue, hence weird store hours....and I'd avoid the train late at night and avoid standing out like a sore thumb. Chicago is a great city, but there are a few bad apples that ruin everything. Twice in my life I've had bad encounters. PM me if you need anything or if there's an emergency. Safe travels.

Hey Bill and Lisa, being from St. Louis I make the trip to Chicago all the time. Most of the time to catch a Cardinals vs Cubs game lol. But check out Batter & Berries for breakfast get the chicken and waffles, for dinner Pappadeaux seafood is amazing. Also try the Original Maxwell street polish stand...best polish you will ever have also they have an amazing pork chop sandwich all made right in front of you.
So excited you are here in Chicago❤️ Lou Malnati’s pizza is really good. It’s not as heavy as Giordano’s You need to come back when everything is open. There are so many great restaurants big and small and you need to try our thin pizza, Of course with the “Chicago cut”

Since so many di e in options are closed if you do a carryout from somewhere near downtown I have a few recommendations: Lemon chicken from Tufano's (near UIC). Chicago Cut may have terrace dining along the riverfront Gibson's may have it too.

Giordano's originated in Chicago too, You made me laugh picking up your pizza though, Chicago pizza is usually a fork and knife affair. I loved the ambiance of the EL train behind you when you were eating. It was the ultimate Chicago shot! Don't forget to get the Chicago Mix at Garrett's popcorn before you leave...it's amazing!
Thanks Susan! We passed by a Garrett to try out the popcorn, but the storefront was boarded up and closed. We’ll keep an eye out for another location tomorrow.
Bill & Lisa's food and travel vlog oh no! I hope you find one open. They have lots of locations. If you happen to go to the water tower there is one in there. There is one at O’Hare but not Midway.
I love how you share meals and think smart about budgeting while out..my husband and i bring snacks to when staying in a room....better to save for other stuff..lol..

You need to try Ricobenes Breades steak Sandwich but last time i heard it was boarded up to prevent looting.... Take the Cta Train REDLINE.. Walking distance to cermak/chinatown.. Its 15min ride from downtown.. Close by
It's my favorite. Some people don't like the disk of sausage and the server usually offers the crumbled version too. We have Giordano's here but it is nowhere close to being as good.

Great start. How about sharing your experience flying with the current restrictions....other than everyone wearing masks, what was the food/beverage service like? Busy flight? Were center seats open? Any other changes since March either onboard or in the airport?
We exclusively fly Delta. Seat capacity is limited to 60%, all middle seats are blocked (unless someone in your party wants to sit next to you). Each passenger is given a ziplock bag containing a Dasani water bottle, single use hand sanitizer, 2 snacks, and a napkin. Face masks/coverings are mandatory for both crew and passengers. Airports are not too busy for now. Thanks for watching!
