Just spent a full day relearning the basics of Dream. Coming back to it after sad quitting over a save mistake that caused me to lose A LOT of work. My problem is that they offer SO MANY CHOICES on what you can do with their tools that I just don't know where to start. I want to make music and design creatures that move and cool effects and build sculptures and make paintings... and now I have a headache from trying to learn too much at once. I'm taking a more relaxed approach this time, doing more imp quests, and trying to let my understanding of everything come a bit more naturally. Plus, I plan to watch everything there is on saving in Dreams so I don't screw up again.
Never heard about this game. I’m just getting it now in November 2022 for 15$ I’m so excited. Why is this not more talked about? Can’t believe I’ve never heard of it. I love Mario maker 2 and even game builder garage. 7 days until it comes in the mail. I’m and I’ll say it again, soooooo excited.
Welcome to Dreams and welcome to the channel. It's only award season so lots of awesome games launching in the next week you've picked a great time to jump in
This is very interesting it would be good if you had a hacked robot that followed you around that you could use to help you in atleast a part of the game that you would form some kind of emotional attachment to and be sad after you see it get destroyed. Might I suggest this has a combination of these things to keep it interesting. 1. Puzzle solving 2.finding and reading data for lore 3.overcoming obstacles like fire or climbing over something or smashing something open. 4.collecting something that's in multiple parts in order to piece together to solve a puzzle 5. Some combat mabe only towards the end 6.access to a robot that can help you with solving puzzles or getting through locked doors. Just some ideas, im looking forward to what you come up with and playing it.
You did a great job at setting up expectations for others out there new to dreams. Like scope and scale and art direction. That has been my challenge with pulling from the community. This looks amazing and have subbed because of this video. Can't wait to see it unfold.
Looks as if ye are on a good start for 'Project Fool'! Watching this come to life is gonna be just as fun as playing the end result of ur work, what a journey, can't wait!!
Nice. My game hasn't even an hour of content yet. I've worked on it for a year relying mostly on community assets. I do most of the logic for gameplay myself though and it's certainly more than a fps experience kind of thing. Also I think I overshoot in one department of gameplay asset content that will take a long time to match in terms of level content - In short I will need a lot of level building to introduce all the stuff I've mustered up for the player to use. It can get a bit exhausting but it's still fun. I'm modifying most things I take from the universe in one way or another and proper curation of community assets and fitting them in can still consume a lot of time. Anyway: Cool project. Curious to see how it unfolds.
Glad you like the sound of Project Fool, it’s going to be a regular series on the channel and I’d love to see people get invested. Your game sounds interesting, definitely sounds like it might end up being an hour at least!
Buy a copy of Dreams today (or anything else on Amazon) on the following affiliate link and you'll also be supporting our channel with a commission payment: amzn.to/3MEDcCo Creating a game can feel like a gargantuan task. Even in Dreams, where creation is user-friendly, there's still so much to learn. Dreams most powerful tool however, means that anyone can make their own video game, with very little know-how, and zero experience. With Project Fool we aim to make our own game in 9 short months in our spare time, with no knowledge or experience of game development, and we're going to show you exactly how to do it as well. If you want to get involved with Project Fool consider taking part in our community challenge. Simply design a science fiction medical instrument and upload it to the Dreamiverse as a remixable element and tag #ProjectFool. We stream weekly creation of Project Fool every Wednesday on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/ugly_sofa_gaming There will be more episodes of Project Fool on RUclips, very soon. Please leave and comment and let us know what you think of the project!
I solely play dreams for the music creation. But this & your other video has inspired me to create a game. I’ll add one of my music tracks to the game too
Of course, the *real* mystery is why are there so many cracks between the tiles in the walls. "I want it to be so subtle people aren't sure if they're meant to be scared." "They might get bored." THAT'S MY KIND OF HORROR GAME! :D In case you're interested, I have a tutorial and element for a first-person puppet. There's a switch for "shaky cam" where the head moves around naturally and you can adjust puppet settings however you like, or even give the player options for that. Or to make it completely stiff like a classic first-person camera. Would be cool to see it used, if you like it :D Though if you need more of a shooter puppet, might be better to get one that has all that built in.
Thank you so much for the suggestion I’ll definitely take a look. Glad your interested in some weird horror! Going to try and channel Kojima’s P.T in all the best ways
I’m trying use dreams to get a idea how my game will look n play before I code it in unity it’s insane how helpful visually seen a idea before actually making it
Does dreams have an in game asset request feature of any kind, like it'd be great if you could post something on a public board of some kind and then anyone could take up that request and get some in game reward for it
That’s a great idea. At the money we’re limited to requesting stuff like that in the larger communities, there’s a Facebook group, Subreddit and Twitter. More of this stuff needs to happen in game though definitely.
I’ve also thought a lot about gamefying Dreams with points and levelling up for user friendly tasks like completing user requests and commenting on levels, but it’d probably be very open to abuse!
@@marshmallowking9128 that’s awesome welcome to the Dreams community and our channel. If your keen on creating best advice I can give is to keep projects really small when your first starting. Smaller experiences work better in Dreams anyway but you’ll learn a lot getting a tiny project through to completion about the tools and publishing
Hey, amazing video but I got a question: Does Dreams use your PSN name to publish or can you make a new username? I would like to use my Twitter handle, so that I can share it there too and I want my psn name to stay private
No Lavender. You can either change your PSN or make a new account exclusively for playing and publishing in Dreams that’s what we did. Thanks for the vid feedback, we’ve recently a short game using this mythology new project fool videos in the playlist showing it off 👍
Stumbled across this and was surprised when I saw how few views it had after watching it. You guys made a fine video. Thanks for the quality content.
Welcome to the channel and thanks for the lovely comment :) We get this feedback a lot but its always great to hear.
I love that you’re doing this. Can’t wait to follow along with your progress. Genuinely excited 😀💖👍🏻👏🏻

I like this series. This should really help reduce the learning curve for new people. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the nice comment PeasAndTanks! That really is the goal, to show people that you can make a good game with minimal know-how.

How can you customize a character from an already made asset? Like for example sculpt a new head for an character you found.
Yeah if it's remixable
@@UglySofaGaming are you able to copy a character's logic into another character?
I think you can almost hide a puppet and replace it with new parts but I don't know how well that works with custom animations - above my skill level
@@UglySofaGaming ok thanks
How do you make a plain template which you can add from there but I just get 2D platform er templates, mini golf templates etc.
Goodluck with your project
Thank you! The chat we had the other day helped us make some good choices with the design I think
@@UglySofaGaming that is great to hear.😊👊🏻😅
The Silent Hills PT was truly horrifying. A tragedy it was cancelled.
Definitely, rumour is Kojima is working on a horror game next though so it might live on in some form. Definitely taking inspiration for Project Fool
If you connect a keyboard and mouse could you use those instead of the controller? It seems like it would be amazing for modeling and animation
Sadly not! There’s no keyboard control scheme, but I think it would be portable to a mouse 🤔
Love the video
Thank you dude we appreciate it 😃
