    You don't sound overly impressed. It's the same engine as the Africa Twin, what does it feel like in comparison?

      It’s a weird one this, I really wasn’t that impressed with the first ride.
      BUT - the more I rode it the more I fell for it. I’d like to do another vid on this bike as I genuinely started to enjoy it, even with the lumpy suspension.
      I prefer the AT as that’s the type of riding position I’m used to, plus I prefer the styling. But, the NT is not a bad bike, it’s deceptively quick (hence the amount of blurring I had to do in the vid, it just didn’t feel like I was going particularly quick).
      I’d 100% advise anyone who’s thinking of this bike to test ride one for themselves. 👍

    I got this one in manual with the quickshifter. The bike is very comfortable to ride, it's predictable and has just enough power to go 2up and with luggage. The electronics package is quite good for the price. Personally i love it!

    Never ever thought of this bike as a sports tourer…….just a mile munching tourer thats all. I have the DCT version and love it. A lot of bike for the money. Yeah it won’t set the world alight but personally can’t see the point of having something with 150+ BHP on our roads.

    Have to admit being a bit of a Honda fanboy (owned around 20 bikes, of which 5 have been Honda - Honda still best build quality even against BMW etc.)...
    Honda do market this as a tourer rather than a sports-tourer.
    When an engine of similar capacity produces less power/torque than the competition, assuming it is well-built (Honda only do 'well' in my experience), is essentially just that the manufacturer has released it in a low-tune / state of stress. In the real-ownership-world that should translate into, good fuel economy, cheaper servicing and longevity.

  • @chrishall734
    @chrishall734 2 года назад +7

    Took this for a test drive when it first came out. Wasn’t sold on the bike it but loved the engine. Took the Africa twin out and bought one. Much better bike with the same great engine. Regarding snatchieness I’ve found I set up the two user modes. One for faster speeds and one for city roads (less power and no engine breaking) which reduces the snatch.

  • @SuperchargedLlama
    @SuperchargedLlama 2 года назад +1

    You said it in the first couple of minutes and I think it sums it up perfectly, it feels planted around roundabouts and stable when filtering. If anything is say it's like a massive scooter?
    With the snatchy fuelling, I found when I put it in D rather than Sport, for constant mid speed, it was suitably refined. Noticeably different at least. And I've realised you're on the manual, the DCT kicks down like an auto car and I found that helped with the "I'm in the wrong sodding gear again".

  • @christopherhorton5449
    @christopherhorton5449 2 года назад +1

    Took one out at the MCN Festival. I was mostly impressed. I liked the engine, comfort and the fact that you had most of the touring extras that you would pay a grand for ordinarily. The throttle was a bit snatchy, but i got used to it, The TFT screen is very slow on start up and what's with having to press an ok button on the screen on start up? The screen adjustment is rubbish too. I thought the handling was ok, we were pressing on and I was keeping up with a CB1000R. I have a 950 Multistrada which is a great bike, but adding the extras the NT came with would add nearly £1500. Good effort Honda!

    That rear preload you added will just change where the shock is in the stroke, it isn't going to stiffen up the rear. Given your size adding extra preload was probably a good idea though to get a bit more travel on the compression stroke and a bit of a sharper rake. You can "taste" a certain lack of enthusiasm! 😆. It's saving grace is the price as you say.

    I have a CBF1000 and was very interested when this bike was announced....africa twin engine, sports tourer, what could possibly go wrong!?
    Then I saw it and watched a lot of the launch reviews, and while no one on the launch could slate it for obvious reasons everyone did say how the suspension was a bit crap etc, I was mad disappointed, a lot of what you said really drilled a lot of it home too. I also am not a fan of the looks at all, I think it just leaned too far towards the tourer for me rather than the sports, both in looks and performance.
    Brilliant to see you on it tbh, we're similar sized and ride fairly the same too. Don't think it'll ever be a bike for me, not to say it's not a great bike for touring, I would have rathered to see a shaft drive on it if it's pure touring tho. Great vid Bruce :)

      Proper reviews help the breed. Bikes aren't going to improve if the makers can get away with putting some different coloured lipstick on a pig and paying for reviews.
      Thats partly why so much progress was made through the 80's/90's - critical reviewers were the in thing and makers simply had to keep improving to stay competetive.
      If no one keeps them on their toes we all lose out.

    I need my motorbike rides more and more along with the other things I do to bring a sense of wellbeing back into the equation and sometimes I'll even have a "Blow Out" and get the pushbike out. An element of physical exercise seems to work wonders, Chris mentioned his walking helped him, exercise is part of the answer.

    After three GSs and looking for something lighter and lower I tried all the ‘mid range’ bikes, apart from the scooter face I found riding this bike so dull. Great build quality but it just didn’t light my fire at all. Eventually I tried the Tiger GT Pro and the Ducati Multistrada V2S, liked the Tiger but the V2 was so much fun that I ordered one. Even preferred it to the V4, shall miss the low down grunt of the GS but the V2 is full of torque and proper quick enough for the road. I’m not a BMW fanboy bud, I’m a Gixxer man through and through, but I prefer an engine with low-down grunt and useable power for the road, as appears to a high-revving engine that only comes alive at daft speeds.
      The GSX-S1000 felt a much more useable engine compared to the GT for some reason, no idea why

I've got an adventure bike that is only used for touring really, and was wondering if this one would be a better proposition...but I'm not sure - we like some character in our bikes. I think a test-ride is in order, because ultimately, thats the decider. Cheers man.
