Paul Cook was also a great solid drummer, and say all you want about John Lydon, but his voice suited the Pistols perfectly. And as far as this whole "the Sex Pistols weren't the Sex Pistols without Sid" carry on, catch yourself on.

Well that was certainly one reason why he wasn't very popular! The reason he left though was a combination of things. He was getting frustrated that they were banned from playing live in most of the country, and were struggling to earn any money. His relationship with Rotten had also broken down. Rotten wanted Sid in the band as an ally against Steve & Paul always siding with Malcolm, so when all these things were mixed together, it was inevitable that it would be 'Goodbye Glen, Hello Sid.'
if sid was such a legend how come the others all out lived him . we now know steve jones played bass on the bollocks album and steve and glen wrote all the music and john the words so what did sid do apart from die
According to interviews given by Rotten, Jones & Cook over the years, it all depended whether Sid was sober/clean when deciding whether to plug him in or not. Sid himself was unaware either way. When he was clean, he was actually a competent (but very basic) player as Winterland shows. When he was messed up, though, he couldn't hold a tune and had to be switched off because it distracted Cook and ruined the gig. Sid himself admitted that he couldn't play a whole song all the way through!

Sid was a nob, no talent. This is the original Pistols and by far the best. I was at this gig and at Brum Academy in 2008. Awesome.
