I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding it incredibly difficult to justify upgrading from my M1 11" iPad Pro even with these fancy new models. The older iPad's display is still more than good enough for me and the M1's performance is excellent for everything I use it for.
But most still have iPad Pro M1. Few upgraded to M2 since it was just a tech bump. How do they compare? Also, I want to see both M4 chips compared to see what Apple is taking from me to be "thin."
My iPad pro is the most annoying device which i own. So much limitations, a lot of problems with the file browser and server, a lots of plugins does not exists, ... It is only good for Netflix, and in this case to expensive. A MacBook Air with 8 GB ram is a better choice.
When the software catches up with the hardware, I'll consider upgrading. As of now, this just a even more power "tablet" that does the same thing as my M1 iPad pro. We are already getting 120 fps in some games with older hardware.
The price was the same for the old and the current. The price much more befits the current than it did the old (which wasn’t great quality). However, I assume that he said it was a mistake because we all know it’s still crazy overpriced.😂😂
You missed a very important point that Apple was covering up in the presentation; the RAM size in those models. You only get a 16GB of RAM if you buy the pro models with 1 or 2 TB. Which means you will end up paying way more than the Macbook Air for a device that doesn’t come with MacOS so you can’t use full featured software on it. In essence, there is no need to have iPad pros and Macbook Airs if only iPad pros came with MacOS but Apple just wants to get your money out of your pocket!

@creditrazer981 People don’t understand that the Pencil is only for artists who draw also the improvements made on the Pencil pro are minor and are to help make artist life a little easier. So if you are not an artist you do not need the new Pencil Pro.
All I really want to know is the battery life on the new air and how it compares to the M1. I have the 256GB WiFi-Cellular 5th gen iPad Air and the battery life sucks. It goes from 100% to 50% in 1 hour and 30 minutes while just using it for FaceTime… that doesn’t work for me. I want something that can last me at least 5 to 6 hours easy without having to be worried that if I don’t bring my charger I for sure will not have to much to do on it. The Pro sounds like a big step forward when it comes to features but I am worried about battery life because of how thin it is.
Hate to disappoint you, but there is a reason why Google abandoned the tablets and left it for 3rd parties. Samsung tabs don't have longevity, they are struggling, even the tech specs are better.
@@SPFboy86 i know u r right bro. Apple iPads have the highest life cycle of any tablet out there. But what's the use of that life if u can't enjoy the software. DeX made the software more usable 🥲
the one question i have that hasn’t been answered is whether the iPad Air M2 edition supports the Apple pencil hover feature. Crickets. Looks like this is the hook to get you to spend the money on the iPad Pro model, ergo the far more expensive version which definitely does have the Apple pencil hover feature. When I asked this quesiton…and not knowing the definite answer to this one question stops me from buying this and saving it for the unfortuantely more expensive model the iPad Pro.
For 256 and 512 there are only 3 performance cores If you want to all 4 performance cores, you must get 1 TB or above so I really hoped you mention that but no you didn’t
I hope they release the iPad mini with the M1 chip at least. I wish it was part of the event. That’s the main iPad that looks and feels like a true tablet in the entire line up of iPads
My peeves about the new M4 iPad are the following... 1. Bezels seem thicker 2. Apple reserved the nano textured glass for 1Tb model 3. Battery life has not seen any improvement 4. There is no use for the M4 hardware (M1 is underutilized as well) OLED is significant, pencil features seem useful but I think they can do so much better.
All I care about is will the pro be able to utilize the full thunderbolt 4 speeds and support super fast file transfers, like from a CFExpress B to an external SSD. I'd love to be able to ditch my laptop and travel with just an iPad and use that for offloading memory cards at the end of a shoot day.
Must wait for WWDC to see if they solve the software issues with iPadOS. I'd love to be able to choose to run Mac OS on the Pro and be able to run iPad native apps alongside Mac OS apps. Once again, Apple is charging too much for upgraded memory/storage/non-binned CPU. Also lack of wifi 7 is of note on a device that I would expect to use for another 4-7 years.
keep in mind almost all of the features on the new pro can be found on the outgoing pro that also used the m2 still being used in new ipads right now. if you dont need m4 speed which most dont because of ipad os' limitation an older ipad pro will get you the same speed as a new air while having the same quad speakers, thunderbolt, pro motion, hdr mini led screen etc. ive seen m1 12.9 pros for 750 and m2 12.9 for 850 which is a much better value than a 1300 dollar ipad that isnt being utilized properly
If last year's 12.9" iPad pro price drops to $800 eventually, then it's going to be though to decide with the 13" Air because they both will have similar specs.
The OS and Software available is still not pro enough, a MacBook Air is a far better bet and its cheaper, I am going to stick with my M1 12.9 inch ipad pro, and Macbook pro.
no relevant useful updates here. Max said it himself, "The most exciting thing is the Matt Black finish" Why would anyone need an M4 iPad that can't operate as a desktop computer? and still no updated iPad Mini, which I have been waiting for for years now, so again, no purchase from me. No wonder Apple sales are going down and down with buggy software, no innovative hardware changes, little repairability, no upgradeability, and unusable base configurations. You can't milk the fanboys forever, and that comes from a 25-year Apple user.
Still without a doubt sticking with my 11" M1 iPad Pro... honestly until the give iPad OS an overhaul, any M series chip is more than enough power. Only reason you'd be upgrading is for the screen.
I also have an 11 inch M1 pro and a generation older 12.9 inch, and I agree with you, they both still work perfectly fine and the crazy amount amount of money you’d have to spend to fully get the most out of updated iPad Pro is just insane.
I think a used or refurbished M2 Pro is probably the best deal. Most people won’t do M4 things or even M1 things on an iPad until 2030 but you will at least appreciate the 120hz on the older pros and smaller bezels.
Major advocate of getting the previous iPad Pros instead of the iPad Airs cuz u can get them way cheaper. The iPad Pro with M1/M2 can be found for cheap than buying a new iPad Air. Don’t let these rich folks brainwash you into thinking that you can’t get previous generation of products which is way better and cheaper even. I hope MaxTech highlights this fact in upcoming videos
@@MaxTechOfficial I did. It would be interesting to explore how Apple dropped the 10MP Ultra Wide camera, optical zoom, mmWave 5G, & 1 mic! I'm assuming these are costing-cutting measures to offset the price increase caused by the new Tandem OLED display tech. Also, no faster charging, MagSafe charging, reverse wireless charging or Wi-Fi 7 support. I cannot wait for your videos to see what you have to say about all of that!
I would skip the Air this time as it has an outdated screen and chip that will probably get updated next year and you will likely have to upgrade again. The Pros are the best option because they have the best chip and Oled screen that will last way longer before you need to upgrade. The Air is definitely the cheap model you give to your kids or people who don’t care about the screen.
@@Testimony201 annihilates? With what? It will destroy the pro m2 with its 2 speakers, 60 hz lcd, slower USB C, no lidar, touch id? Sure it got the pencil pro, but it didnt annihilate the pro m2. Lol.
@@Testimony201 Sorry, maybe I should've been more specific. I' using a Air 2 atm, but it's time for an upgrade. I was wondering if I should go with the old iPad Pro 11" (2022) or upgrade to the iPad Air 11" (2024). They are both about the same price in the respactble base models.
My biggest question is why? There's nothing the new ipad pro can do that the M1 iPad pro cannot. Sure, the tandem oled is amazing and the 5mm thickness is totally new. But if you really need that much horsepower, you'll be severely limited by iPadOs anyway. The new iPads are very overpowered but with underpowered software.
I would say the basic iPad Pro is totally worth it for the specs you don't need, at least for 99.9% of the buyers. I'd imagine it's good only for artists and people who require to do video shooting and editing on the go. Obviously for techies and people who has money to spend to experience the latest and greatest, as there is a difference in experience in screen and pencil tech. If I was 15 years younger I'd get one just for the tech as well. But today, I've become an average user with average needs. A MacBook Air + iPad mini has become the perfect combo for me. I'm still using the iPad mini 5 btw, and still great for media consumption (no gaming)
it would be great to ditch the camera bump altogether instead of making it super thin. That would also make it possible to attach the iPad on the other side of the keyboard, making it more versatile.
Super novel but I think it would be cool since the Apple logo is being used for cooling, if it shifted colour based on temperature. Kinda a homage to the old macbboks with glowing apple logos.
Just bought an M2 11 pro with a good discount and full storage. I had an 10.5 iPad Pro before and the difference there is significant. Yes, the M4 would be nice to have , but I prefer having more storage and saving some hundred bucks

It is an upgrade, the cpu is 50% faster and the gpu is 4 times as fast as the m2. Please stop yapping man. The price for the base model is quite expensive though. Practically pricing some people out but eh to be expected with crazy inflation.
Max is a pure apple fan (sheep). I dont think there's anything that the M2 ipad pro can't do at a much lower price ($650). No value proposition discussion on the extra money spent vs the additional things you can achieve. This is basically an advertisement video....
Correction at 5:44. TOPS are not TFLOPS. These are usually Int 8 operations and not FP32 operations. TOPS stands for Trillion Operations Per Second. TFLOPS stands for Trillion Floating-point Operations Per Second. Also, the guyroscope sounds like an interesting feature on the pencil pro.
i think those who have been waiting for an upgrade since 2018-2020 would definitely benefit from a new ipad but if you just recently bought one then i don’t think it’s worth it unless you want that oled screen and upgraded performance

Apple M4 NPU: 38 TOPS X Elite NPU: 45 TOPS X Plus NPU: 45 TOPS Apple is actually worse than Qualcomm! But keep in mind that PCs with X Elite got probably not so optimized software. Also worth to mention... 1 - as for iPad Pro M2, only models with 1TB and 2TB got 16 GB RAM 2 - IPad Pro M4 with 256 and 512 GB got M4 binned! One less P core! So 3 P cores + 6 E cores. Only the 1 & 2 TB models got 4 P cores! The USB-C ports... IPad Pro M4: USB4 & TB4, 40 Gbps (same as M2) IPad Air M2: USB3, 10 Gbps (same as M1), no TB IPad Air M1, M2, iPad Pro M2 and M4 supports one 6K60 display so in other words that Apple Pro Display XDR. IPad Pro M1 supports that display as well I think :)
The thing no one is talking about the new iPad Air is the screens are a tad smaller than the previous iPad Air. Only the name has changed to 11 but actually, the screen decreased in size.
Apple again made the 1TB/2TB storage version of iPad Pro the dividing point to get additional features, which makes it a hell lot more expensive!!! below 1TB , M4 only has 3 P cores, 8GB ram 1TB and above, M4 has 4P cores, 16GB ram, nano textured glass I do hope Apple let us do hardware display calibration for the screen if it is really that good and can be used for professional colour grading.

I was hyped to buy this on day one, but it's lack of wireless/MagSafe charging, single Thunderbolt port and 8GB RAM limit along with a pricetag higher than an M2 Studio Max make it a no-go.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm finding it incredibly difficult to justify upgrading from my M1 11" iPad Pro even with these fancy new models. The older iPad's display is still more than good enough for me and the M1's performance is excellent for everything I use it for.
really no point unless you are and artist and even then its more about the new pen features not the new tablet.

I wouldn’t be interested in the new Pro either if I hadn’t shattered the screen of my M1 pro. 😢

i am on the ipad air 1 and its soo useless, i can't watch yt on it
But most still have iPad Pro M1.
A MacBook Air with 8 GB ram is a better choice.
iPad Pro is overkill for my needs. I think the iPad Air provides the best value.
When the software catches up with the hardware, I'll consider upgrading. As of now, this just a even more power "tablet" that does the same thing as my M1 iPad pro. We are already getting 120 fps in some games with older hardware.
I can’t take this guy seriously. In the same video, he said the Magic Keyboard was overpriced and a great price.
that was the old keyboard. You need to listen better.
The video was so cringe 😂😂
The price was the same for the old and the current. The price much more befits the current than it did the old (which wasn’t great quality). However, I assume that he said it was a mistake because we all know it’s still crazy overpriced.😂😂
I actually watch his videos to laugh at how fake and forced some of his content is. I especially love his serious reviews of some China robovacuums.😂
Just sold my iPad Pro M2 for a refurbished MacBook Pro 16. Literally 0 regrets. The software is just so limiting on iPad I hit too many walls.
Thank god you finally used your brain 🧠 😅
Wow y’all are toxic

I wish iPad can run desktop apps, then the extra power from the chip would make it a great value and not be limited to apps only.
It’s a shame that tech reviewers are just become sales staff. I’m getting bored of them now.

"Only $800 dollars"💀
like 300 dollars apple tax lol
For what you get, it’s amazing. Apple is much higher quality than any other company
Just because you can’t afford a product doesn’t mean it’s bad. Sounds like you should go back to school and get a better paying job

I think this is the best time to buy an IPad compared to other years because the Oled screens will be killer.
As an artist using the pen a lot, I hate that the camera is much thicker than the device itself. Now it’s even worse ☹️
i would see tech coming without the camara as a option cause you pay the most for that i think, and i personally really dislike it and never use it, so it's a big waste for the money. have the same with iphones.
you mean the back camera on the pro?
Wouldn’t be a problem if the smart keyboard folio was still around. Nope Apple gotta remove that huh?

Got the ipad pro m2. Not gonna update yet but i do think it sucks that the new pencil isnt compatible. I woulda liked to try that out
Same here. The pen looks cool
Same here. Not sure a better screen and chip is worth upgrading tbh.
Only upgrade for the Oled screen really. I will be upgrading my M1 11 inch just because the Oled will be so much better screen.
None of them? My next Tablet is a Samsung with Dex. I have an M1 Air and they want buy all new accessories? Screw them.
Go for Samsung and u will be happy forever bro (Sadness from an iPad user) 😢
Hate to be the one to tell you but you’ll have to buy all new accessories for a Samsung also😂
Hate to disappoint you, but there is a reason why Google abandoned the tablets and left it for 3rd parties.
This is the last Ipad Im ever going to get, so I might as well max out the pro... except cellular! AR all the way in the next few years!

When it’s time to replace my 2020 iPad pro, I’m seriously going to consider the 13 inch iPad air.
For 256 and 512 there are only 3 performance cores If you want to all 4 performance cores, you must get 1 TB or above so I really hoped you mention that but no you didn’t
And only 9 CPU cores not 10 of you want 10 you have to get the 1TB
I hope they release the iPad mini with the M1 chip at least. I wish it was part of the event. That’s the main iPad that looks and feels like a true tablet in the entire line up of iPads

My peeves about the new M4 iPad are the following...
1. Bezels seem thicker
2. Apple reserved the nano textured glass for 1Tb model
3. Battery life has not seen any improvement
4. There is no use for the M4 hardware (M1 is underutilized as well)
OLED is significant, pencil features seem useful but I think they can do so much better.
If you're looking at the 13" Air you might as well get a refurbished M1 or M2 iPad Pro. Better product overall for the same price or less

Hopefully ESR updates their cases so the 13" screen (rather than their 12.9 option) is available.
They support the 13" screen!
It's on their website.
I heard they added a calculator app to the new iPad… that’s amazing!! 😂😂
Neither for just a tablet to read books and magazines, and watch videos and email.

Apple has to make a iPad mini pro/pro mini with pro motion for me/most people to be interested lmao

Don’t even think about it. It will ruin the viewing experience.
keep in mind almost all of the features on the new pro can be found on the outgoing pro that also used the m2 still being used in new ipads right now. if you dont need m4 speed which most dont because of ipad os' limitation an older ipad pro will get you the same speed as a new air while having the same quad speakers, thunderbolt, pro motion, hdr mini led screen etc. ive seen m1 12.9 pros for 750 and m2 12.9 for 850 which is a much better value than a 1300 dollar ipad that isnt being utilized properly
im still rocking my m1 ipad pro 12.9 and its blazing fast . idk if i even need to upgrade anytime soon since i dont notice a thing
If last year's 12.9" iPad pro price drops to $800 eventually, then it's going to be though to decide with the 13" Air because they both will have similar specs.
So will they be less durable now?
They said it would be durable.
Yeah if you accidentally sit on it, well it’s gonna bend
Your a genius on making it look like u have the new iPad Pro M4 and iPad Air 6th Gen on the thumbnail lol
I’m excited about that escape key.
Seems goofy for the Pro to be thinner than the Air. It also adds to worries about durability.
Great to see the 128 GB base for the Air. Hopefully that bodes well for the next iPad mini
I think a used or refurbished M2 Pro is probably the best deal.
Most people won’t do M4 things or even M1 things on an iPad until 2030 but you will at least appreciate the 120hz on the older pros and smaller bezels.
This event was such a disappointment. Gonna keep my iPad for years
Good decision bro
Major advocate of getting the previous iPad Pros instead of the iPad Airs cuz u can get them way cheaper. The iPad Pro with M1/M2 can be found for cheap than buying a new iPad Air. Don’t let these rich folks brainwash you into thinking that you can’t get previous generation of products which is way better and cheaper even. I hope MaxTech highlights this fact in upcoming videos
The ONLY iPad Pro video that I was waiting for on announcement day! Looking forward to your subsequent M4 iPad Pro videos!
Hope you enjoyed it! Excited to receive our 5 new iPad models lol
The Air is definitely the cheap model you give to your kids or people who don’t care about the screen.
iPad Pro 11" (2022) vs iPad Air 11" (2024)?
Depends on ur budget and ur needs. On paper the 2024 version annihilates the 2022 in every way. For years to come.
If you have the m1 12.9 with mini led it is a waste of money unless you are rich.
@@Testimony201 annihilates? With what? It will destroy the pro m2 with its 2 speakers, 60 hz lcd, slower USB C, no lidar, touch id? Sure it got the pencil pro, but it didnt annihilate the pro m2. Lol.

What. Is. The. Point.😊
The point is for you to spend as much as MacBook cost for your iPad. Apple never changes lol
Im confused between the 13” iPad Air & Refurbished 12.9” iPad Pro 🫢
Easy: the refurbished 13" iPad pro is a better buy
I'm that excited that I've started looking at a Surface Pro... And I'm not even a windows fan...
None of this even matter with such a limited Operating System.
it would be great to ditch the camera bump altogether instead of making it super thin. That would also make it possible to attach the iPad on the other side of the keyboard, making it more versatile.
iPad mini??😢
Just wait until September
Obviously never held one…
Super novel but I think it would be cool since the Apple logo is being used for cooling, if it shifted colour based on temperature. Kinda a homage to the old macbboks with glowing apple logos.

One iPad beats them both considering the price. The iPad Pro M2 or M1. That is the iPad to get....
Dynamic Island could be great for pro one
5:50 it's not "teraflops" for NPU...
NPUs got "TOPS" = tera OPS
GPUs got TFLOPS :)
But I can understand this. You guys probably rushed this video out.
Worth to mention...
Apple M4 NPU: 38 TOPS
X Elite NPU: 45 TOPS
X Plus NPU: 45 TOPS
Apple is actually worse than Qualcomm! But keep in mind that PCs with X Elite got probably not so optimized software.
Also worth to mention...
1 - as for iPad Pro M2, only models with 1TB and 2TB got 16 GB RAM
2 - IPad Pro M4 with 256 and 512 GB got M4 binned! One less P core! So 3 P cores + 6 E cores. Only the 1 & 2 TB models got 4 P cores!
The USB-C ports...
IPad Pro M4: USB4 & TB4, 40 Gbps (same as M2)
IPad Air M2: USB3, 10 Gbps (same as M1), no TB
IPad Air M1, M2, iPad Pro M2 and M4 supports one 6K60 display so in other words that Apple Pro Display XDR. IPad Pro M1 supports that display as well I think :)
The thing no one is talking about the new iPad Air is the screens are a tad smaller than the previous iPad Air. Only the name has changed to 11 but actually, the screen decreased in size.
Apple again made the 1TB/2TB storage version of iPad Pro the dividing point to get additional features, which makes it a hell lot more expensive!!!
below 1TB , M4 only has 3 P cores, 8GB ram
1TB and above, M4 has 4P cores, 16GB ram, nano textured glass
I do hope Apple let us do hardware display calibration for the screen if it is really that good and can be used for professional colour grading.
I’ll be honest I bought a 10th Gen iPad last year. But the M2 Chip and size and way more storage the iPad Air 13” enticed me. Definitely will trade and upgrade.
I’m curious how much better (if at all) the new tandem oled will be compared to the mini led they currently use
