Orange Sherbet is at the top of my list along with Dot. It is a mango that many will not believe is actually a mango if you tasted it cubed in a bowl without seeing the mango itself.
Hello everyone, I am a fruitaholic and Paul helps guide me in my fruit tree addition, its because of Paul and Alex I can't stop buying mango trees! Thanks for all the information guys.
I'm a big fan of Lemon Meringue, but a friend has a tree, and my next-door neighbor, too. So I planted Orange Sherbet since it's considered more disease-resistant and more compact than its sibling Lemon Zest, which has been called the GOAT. Southern Californians, especially you who live in hot inland areas or the low desert, you gotta grow Lemon Zest!
*and control powdery mildew. Powdery mildew is the bane of Lemon Zest in California. But it’s easy to control and Lemon Zest otherwise seems to do very well there.
That is interesting on Orange Sherbet growing slow in Southern CA. I just planted Orange Sherbet today in Paso Robles CA. Will be interesting to compare to my other Thai mango trees planted last week to see how fast it grow. I also have peach cobbler, coconut cream, sugar loaf, nam doc mai mun on order.
I have 5 planted out some seedling that may in fact be OS. My top 3 for sure...sweet tart and pineapple pleasure may vie for the top spot any given day but OS is solo consistently excellent... Underripe, ripe, overripe, all tasty imo
I planted a 3 gallon O. S. in April 2019 here in Central FL . She’s about 10 feet tall now and has yet to flower. I’ve had so many questions about this variety, thanks for the information.
This is great news ! As I JUST picked one up today ! 1) might have been their top mango of '22 last yr 2) might b Dr. Richard Campbell's favorite 3) vigorous--but far less than Lemon Zest & it's parent, Lemon Meringue 4) very low disease occurance ! Lw for Anthracnose, bacterial black spot, powdery mildew.
What's your opinion on peach trees? These are available near me. Zone 10a. - Florida Prince - Tropic Snow - Tropic Beauty - Tropic Prince - Florida Grande - Tropic Sweet
I had 2 peach trees in Miami. Problem was if you don’t pick it at the exact right time it gets infested with flies that lay eggs inside it. But they tasted better than any other peach but I don’t remember the variety.
Hey Paul, I'm getting rid of my venus mango tree due to bbs. Do you have an idea for a late season variety that is disease resistant and small dwarfish?
@@greatergood3706 it isn’t. I have had many other orange sherbet from 4-6 different trees. I know it is orange sherbet. Also my friend and a woman I was speaking with at zills, in front of Gary Zill said the same exact thing. Gary was surprised as well
My favorite mango and have the tree but still only 7 ft for it is only 2 years in ground. Moderately vigorous and a very clean tree. Ranks up there for me with Dot and to me, beats out Lemon Zest, which I just lost to hurricane Ian. My all star lineup is now Dot, Orange Sherbet, Cecilove, and Little Gem to extend the season. 4 mangoes is enough unless you want to be selling a ton of mango. Would be smart for people to space them out 25-30 ft for airflow. Lemon Zest and PPK are monsters!! those trees are too much for most yards and keep them away from the house if you do have them. At least 25 ft from the roof line should be the goal. I know from experience what happens in a hurricane with those monsters. 2 houses severely damages from 2 Lemon Zests alone. One 30 k pool cage and another house lost part of the shingles from Lemon Zest 2 houses away from mine. The farther away from the home, the better!
For me Lemon Meringue #1 Orange Sherbet #2 excellent taste!!

Dot is a very good mango. My wife tasted it at Tropical Acres and immediately loved it.

Last night I couldn't sleep but I dreamt I ate the best mango ever.
Cecilove? 😂

In Florida Peach is more trouble than it's worth.

Got one to take this year on my mutltigrafted tree, so who knows, might be trying it next year. Yeah!
I’m in zone 10a Florida. Mango trees do well in my neighborhood. But I have to ask. Does this particular variety like a bit cooler winters?
Maybe, drought stress could entice flowering
I found lemon merengue and orange sherbet to be more easily affected by scale and black sooty mold in my yard than my other varieties of mangos.
Anthracnose has all but killed my OS.
Do you know which mango tree would do very good here in Orange County ?
orange country California? Try Peach Cobbler
Orange County Florida - Orange Sherbet should do well
What is a delicious mango variety that will do well in CA zone 9b?
J.ruiz...sweet tart/ CAC/ dupois saigon

Planted a small 3 gallon 2 years ago, and it’s now over 8’ tall and 10’ wide. Blows vp doors off as far as vigorous, and I’m

You may want to reduce the nitrogen to the tree
@@Offshore1977 I have not once put any nitrogen on this tree😳
