Review Cornerstone Razor and Lidl Razor use same OEM

- This is not a shaving review, but rather a saving review. This is showing that the Lidl razor will help provide massive savings compared to the cornerstone subscription offering.
I'm always looking for a good deal, but not at the expense of quality. I've tried most of the online shaving systems such as Harry's, Shavekit, etc., but I personally found the Cornerstone blades to be far superior to all the others I've tried. One reason is that the width of the blade is slightly narrower than Harry's & other blades I've tried & being that slightly narrower means you can shave more successfully if you have creases or skin folds on your face. The wider the blade the more growth will be missed in the lower parts of the crease or fold of the skin. Another reason is that even though I've got quite a tough beard, the blades virtually last twice as long as the other ones I've had previously. Therefore, I'm going to give these Lidl blades a go & see how they compare to the Cornerstone blades. At the price for the Lidl blades, which is really competitive, I'm not too sure if the quality will be the same, even though they are from the same manufacturer. I'm off to try them now.
The last point to make, not on any specific make of blade, but the way you finally rinse your blade after you've used it ready for the next shave. Never use hot water for the final rinse of the blade, always use cold water. The reason, hot water as we all know separates limescale from the water, just like boiling water in a kettle, you see the build-up of limescale quite rapidly. The same applies to hot water if used to rinse your blade, it leaves a deposit of limescale that you won't be able to see but takes the sharpness away from the cutting edge of the blade & you end up with a dull blade & seemingly reduces the life of the blade. Hence, you may assume the blade didn't last as long.
Need to do a shave test! Interesting test but my Cornerstone lasts for about 10 shaves before needing to be changed. If you have to change the Lidl razor every 4 shaves then there is no benefit. I actually keep delaying my subscription because the Cornerstone blades last that long, plus you get a colour personalized razor FOC when you join. Only occasionally do own brands beat the manufacturers quality because it`s not their interest to produce a better quality product for less money.
They are made in the same plant, the just use different comour mix. This is a Edgwell razor and this blade is also used on the new wilkinson Sword barber style and the Bullgod Sensetive
I tried the Lidl blades but they're completely different to the Cornerstone Cartridge. Maybe there's a different design sold here in Ireland. That being said, they give a great shave.

The Harry’s/Feintechnik 5-blade is definitely a Marmite option - you either love it or hate it. While I get on well with the Harry’s style razor and blades, I did not like Cornerstone/Edgewell razor when I tried it. Absolutely no question that if you do get on with the Edgewell blades as many do, the Lidl refills are a bargain compared to both Cornerstone’s refills and other supermarkets like Tesco.
I think Harry's might be pulling the 5 blade from all home brands so it does not devalue their Harrys subscription branding. This is somwthing Edgewell have been doing the opposite of, because they are putting their Hydro heads now on homebrand products too.
Shave UK - Reviews I think you are right. Harry’s is doubling down on direct sales of the Harry’s mail order product in any market where it operates, and retreating from OEM sales of the same tech. Not sure it’s a smart move. Looking at Lidl, pulling the 5 blade seems to have cost it the entire Lidl gig -including the disposable razors.
Edgewell are infact doing the complete opposite stratergy. I think me pointing out online that all the shave clubs are losing serious money may be a factor (but it is all public infomation so they could just be looking in the same places as me but why bither when I do such a good job for free lol). They have however taken a stake in Shavekit when they became insolvent last year, and I would not be surprised that if Cornerstone or Friction Free Shaving were to become insolvent they could take them over for their debts in a liquidation scenario, but then is that a good idea either with the losses and overheads they would have a quick advert would retain the customers on the blade system.

Is this a better razor/shave than the Feintechnik 5 blader that they used to do in your opinion?

I think when they had the Feintechnick, they had a better handle than the Harrys so it worked better than Harrys. I think these are equal if not slightly better than that, but I think there is a much better handle that fits the blades (not Cornerstones as it is too slippy). Even still I prefer the 3 blade Calibre razor cartridges (larger skin stretcher & Aloe strip). So in short, yes it is really good and I would buy, but I would still buy the 3 bladed Calibre blades over all of them and use it with the DynaShave handle given the choice. The good thing is though, because the Edgewell product is so widely available there are plenty of choices of alternate cartridges to use on the DynaShave handle if I run out and struggle to find the 3 blades. Although I do have a large stash of them as they are being cleared out at the following link after the promotion ended.

The connection clip used, is compatible with many supermarkets/manufacturers brands. I thought that was widely known. The likes of Cornerstone are only for those who have an unfailing desire to be ripped off.
It's actually only Edgewell products, but they are the biggest white label manufacturer.
