I just bought the Wahl Professional 5 Star Vanish Shaver, 8173-700 Gold, my first foil shaver. Thanks for showing me how to clean it. ; )
I have found a cheap Synthetic Shaving Brush works best. The soft bristles get into every nook and cranny with no damage to the cutters or foil.

Thanks for this, I just used water and ended up buying a new Electric shaver for my head. I thought it was because the product was cheap. Thanks for the video.
Hmm, that's why my foil shaver doesn't cut well after a few uses. I will have to clean it regularly for now on.
Gotta clean that Jawn after every use
I use a toothbrush to clean mine with methylated spirits. Then clipperside them 🙌
Won't brushing your foil like that dull it so it won't cut well?
I’m also a bit worried about brushing the foil directly since the blades are so thin
Yea it'll dull them best thing to use is pressurized air
Hey bro nice video but where do I oil them and how. Thanks
Just bought a Babyliss foil shaver just like yours but in Rose Gold. Very helpful and informative video, thanks a lot!
That cutting head mechanism looks exactly like an old Braun shaver i had many years ago.
Thanks man, the video i was looking for.
Best video on this topic. Thank you
Your welcome! Glad it helped
Thanks very much! Learned something new.
I just got an fx3 and it doesnt state anytjing about needing to oil it in the manual. So im assuming oil isnt necessary for these vibration type foil cutters vs. Moving blades on clippers...?
@@jovanventura8726 yes you are correct. I’ve never oiled my foil shavers before. The reason for oiling the clippers is because friction on the moving blade and the still blade. Foils don’t have that.
Make sure it’s dry before you put the machine to your head again or someone else’s. You don’t wanna put disinfectant on skin.
I picked up a few things from this clip but from what i hear you should be super gentle when cleaning the blades themselve. Very prone to breaking, bending and cracking. Also its good for people to know that you can wash the foil heads and leave them to dry before putting them back on the machine
do you oil them with a clipper oil?
I don’t oil mine, never have and never will. We oil clippers because there’s 2 blades moving back and forth on each other. But with a foil we don’t have that. I know some people do but I personally don’t
I have sprayed the inside of the foil too. But I'm ocd. I'm going to oil mine today. Cool channel
Does that help from snagging hair? I have the 5 star finale it snags I oiled it and sprayed it, can you help?
Love the tutorial bro. These things are beasts. Want to take care of it. Only one question. When you spray it with the disinfectant it kinda leaves the blades a lil oily. When you use it again, wont it be harder to get the hair off of the now oily blades? And if so, do you have a method for cleaning hairy oily blades?
Wait a minute. I oiled my blades before spraying the Andis. So that's why they were oily. Does the andis spray alone leave an oily film on the blades or no?
Tnx bro, it was useful🙌🏻
My andis foil shaver while I’m balding someon out it feels weak and loud and literally turns off right when I’m balding someone out why
Try charging it
What if I were to accidently rip the foil heads ? Where could I buy some ???
If you have any local barber supply shops they should have some, but there’s also online barber supply stores you can order from. Or amazon
@@dugascuts Thnx appreciate the info 😉
💯
Great video bro 🔥
A toothbrush work better! And you should sterilize that when the other people use it too with alcohol!!
disinfect that cap as well.
Great idea to do that as well
No need to oil it after spraying coolcare?
Do not oil your foil shaver. The reason we oil our clippers is because there is 2 blades rubbing against each other. The foil doesn't need oiled
@@dugascuts thank you bro!
Can an antiseptic be used for disinfection?
This is why i refuse to go to a barber. I get disgusted knowing someone else's head was just shaved and there's all that dead skin and grease and fungus and ring worm 🤢
get them to only use scissors if applicable
thats what i do
Good thing I cut my own hair every 2 weeks I do a side part skin fade 💈 😊 I am glad my cousin showed me how to cut hair
He's literally talking about how to clean and sanitize it after every client...
@@jovanventura8726 no thanks. I'll stick to me doing my own hair. Never going back to a barber
Would you recommend andis cleaner as it contains cancer causing ingredients? What are your thoughts on this please. Love from the UK 🇬🇧
everything causes cancer...theres a product..H-42
Hey dude can you wash these blades?
Yes. Just remove them from the shaver.
hey. yes you defiantly can. Using blade wash works great!
I have brand new batteries and it dies on me . Does that mean it’s clogged I haven’t cleaned them
Could be that. Also could just be time for a new one. Id suggest getting one like in the video. One that is rechargeable.
I don’t even have 6 months with it lol
And I’m not a full time barber I cut my kids hairs and mine only lol
