When I first opened this, I looked quickly and thought Spencer had made some very new personal style decisions! While that would have been fun, it was great to have Evan on. Feel better soon, Spencer.

I'm such a dork I was like 'how did Spencer grow a moustache so fast" 🤣 I loved Evan's commentary on the Cal meets! The semifinals are going to be so weird. Most of the heavy-hitters in 1 session is going to impact finals a lot!

32:15 seeing this voice over just makes me appreciate the work Jess and Fact Checker put into this podcast. To go back and listen to a whole podcast and add things is so tedious and painstaking but I love it. 😂

I’m an unemployed UX/graphic designer, if y’all have connections at ESPN for their production team, I’d be happy to offer myself to help. We need better visuals to help break this artistry down.

I love NCAA gymnastics, but the scoring needs to be revamped. There has to be some way to differentiate these routines. It is like gymnast are penalized for trying to go big.

The AI gave a bad answer there. That's not surprising (AI chatbots are not a good resource for answering factual or analytical questions), but it's not entirely the AI's fault in this case, because there are too many variables in that scenario to give an accurate answer. But even if the judges were perfect and utilizing the code exactly as written with 100% internal and external consistency, it still wouldn't be surprising to have 1 or 2 team ties a season. The number of atoms in the ocean is ~47,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. If it were true that gymnastics ties would be that rare, that would mean it would take billions of billions of billions times longer than the age of the universe for there to ever be a team tie in gymnastics, and just from the eye test you can tell that's not true.

I'm thinking at least part of this comes from the wildly uneven likelihood of any given score within that range. It's significantly more likely for a team to count, say, the equivalent of five 9.8s per event than five 2.8s or even 7.8s because these are skilled gymnasts, not because of score inflation. Also, I wonder how it was instructed to deal with decimal places - I watched the first part before work, so maybe I'm forgetting and that was explained? But maybe it thinks there are more options between integers than really exist in scoring.
Or it could just be out to lunch. I've got it to explain how a particular underground (literal and figurative) structure organized one country's post war politics before. That structure never existed, and was pure conspiracy theory. As you said (more or less), a human with a clue is still required to mediate.

Agreed, my immediate thoughts were that 1) the question was flawed, and 2) the AI was not trained specifically enough to account for that. I would have loved for Spencer to be here to intervene 😅

Please address all 4 judges the missing the fall on flour and scoring BYU a 9.5 allowing them to tie with BSU when scored correctly BYU would have been eliminated. They went through with 2 falls in floor. Ridiculous

I get that airpods are convenient, but they're not suited to podcasts. I want to hear both commentators evenly because gymnastics! Any hoo great to see Evan. I'd gladly volunteer to be his stylist.
