    NBC still showed too many minutes of gymnasts drinking water, taping, untapping, waiting, etc while we were missing routines. How is anyone going to even know who ANYONE else is besides the biggest names? Anyway, I'm thankful that the entire meet was on YT!

      To be fair, that’s how it always was. You only get to see a few athletes. You never saw all the competitiors. Only the ones with a chance at the Olympics or alternate positions. Why would they broadcast the ones with no chance? I understand and agree that it’s dumb seeing athletes drinking water or on their phones, that stuff should be cut out.

      Stop your whining. This is how it always has been. They show the top athletes likely to make the team. They rarely ever show those lower tie gymnasts. Look at old coverage and that’s what they always did.

      Literally frustrates me to DEATH!! WHYYYYYYYYYYY do they think we want to see people sitting around??? In the background we see things going on and we can hear floor music etc. But the camera is focused on an athlete drinking water for 10 minutes.

      @TommyWiseauu I know what you mean, but I would argue that they actually did show more gymnastics in older competitions. And I also guarantee that ANY viewer would prefer to watch a gymnast (even an "unknown" gymnast) perform over watching someone catch their breath and walk around for 10 minutes. It is just ridiculous.

    I had no idea other gymnasts were delayed flying out of Houston, missed their podium training, and yet they were not mentioned. I'm proud of them for pushing through missing their podium training, and had the fortitude to start/complete the event.
    I absolutely adore Konnor. I don't know what the future holds, but by 2028 she could have a bouquet: a degree, some world medals, and an Olympic berth.
    Gabrielle Douglas stans can get overly defensive of her and milly mouth that she's underrated, but Gabrielle is loved in the sport, she's adored still by lots of little girls. If I were Gabrielle I would tune out the coven that surrounds her and coddles this phantasm of victimhood they want to enshrine her with. She's a warrior, fight is in her. She's overcome so much getting into this world, through her childhood, and should never be programmed into believing she's fragile and needs anyone to put down or disparage others in the sport in order to lift her up.
    Some of these gymnasts have some really smart brains/coaches with how they leverage their ready with the rules.
    Well, let the soft nature cause the medal decline and watch it buckle up tighter.
    Jade is truly gifted. It's hilarious to me how she was perceived as weak, when she waters down, and then deemed overscored when she pulls up the clutch on those whose best won't compare. She is the reigning gold medalist on floor.

    I personally think gabby came back too late. For an 8 year hiatus, she should’ve came back 4 years ago and started competing last year. If I remember correctly she came back in December of 2022. That’s not enough time for muscle memory to kick in. IMO she also shouldn’t have made Paris her goal. Thats just too much pressure for such a long hiatus out of the sport entirely. I do hope she doesn’t end her career like this. Hopefully she still competes even when Paris is over, at least compete a meet and end on a good note.

      @ravanne3746 Месяц назад +1

      Typically, it's difficult for gymnasts to be at 100% through the entire season. So you want them to do well enough in the early events to advance, but show at each following competition that they're getting better and more confident so that they "peak" at the right time (either the Olympics or Worlds). So you see the top group performing well, but still having room for improvement. Now the selection committee will want to see them improve at Nationals from how they did at the Core Classic.

    • @creating1_c1999
      @creating1_c1999 Месяц назад +1

      All of these berths mean something, maybe not as important for some, but overall it gives both the gymnast and the committee a file to review when making tough selections. If you want to petition or ask for consideration to be invited to trials, then you want to have something to show/defend your petition/ask.
      Like in any sport you will have superbly gifted athletes, not just physically but a high IQ. That IQ not only favors them on the mat/competition (examples: how to fall to prevent the least amount of injury, spatial awareness, when to step out or make a quick adjustment) but also in training so that they know when to gradually step out of training performance to competitive performance--meet the minimum req's for 'show' to meet qualifications, but ready to step up when it gets down to the wire.
      Those who show superb IQ in this round: Biles, Jones, Lee, Carey, Chiles, DiCello, and Wong
      *Biles, Carey, and Chiles are for me the top IQs.

    I agree. The locks for Olympic team are most likely Simone, Shilese, Jade, and Suni. It’s the formula that works best. They really only need these four as they have strong two all arounders and Jade is yet to upgrade her floor routine like she did in 2021. Knowing the Olympic selection format and the need for a fifth member, they are looking for someone who can do bars and beam really well. This is because they need a fifth member who can take on Shilese’s only “weakness” which is beam and can score mid 14’s. For bars, they still want Suni either way because they really need her beam routine but they are unsure of the consistency of her bars. Even if she does perform well at trials, they are still looking for someone who can put a strong score on bars in case Suni seems to appear inconsistent nearing the Olympics because she will probably still compete on team either way for beam. The person they were eyeing for the fifth position was Konnor McClain as she was the piece of the puzzle they needed to truly make the team what they wanted as she was not only a strong all arounder but had what they wanted. However, now it’s gonna be a bit difficult to see who can beat fit the piece they are looking for who can beat Shilese in beam and put a strong score on bars after Konnor’s injury. The three candidates for the spot are most likely Chiles, Dicello, or Blakley and their chances are most likely going to be determined with their upcoming performances. Usually the committee has an idea of the five beforehand, but for the fifth member, it’s really gonna come up to how they do.

    • @LPLP-sf9of
      @LPLP-sf9of Месяц назад +1

      Jordan and Dicello are definitely back to back. If Dicello competes like she did during winter cup again she might have a stronger chance than Jordan and show that Core Classic was just a rare mistake. But if Skye can prove she is finally consistent in the coming competitions and prove ability to get high scores on all events but especially beam, the committee is gonna have a hard time choosing. At Winter cup Skye got a 14.5 on beam and Dicello got over a 14 on all events, including a 14.3 on beam and bars. I think Winter Cup scores are slightly inflated but that shows a lot on both ends. This is definitely gonna be interesting to see. If Dicello competes like she did before, she has a strong chance as Skye has shown inconsistencies in almost every competition since 2023. It’s gonna be hard but she needs to prove she can do it. Their spots are really gonna depend on how they do at these future competitions.

    • @ravanne3746
      @ravanne3746 Месяц назад +4

      The reality is that with the depth of talent that's going to be competing at Nationals, being good on one or two events is not going to be enough. Not when there will be others who'll perform just as well on vault and beam (or better) and turn in good scores on floor and bars. It's a very short amount of time that the athletes get to prove that they're ready for the challenge and while one lackluster event up to now won't kill their chances, the fact that Gabby didn't qualify for the AA and cannot petition has pretty much eliminated her from consideration. It's a relatively short season, but what you want to see is that as good as they were at their first showing, they're better on the next and are peaking at the right moment. Gabby did worse than she did at the American Classic. At least then, she was able to get through all the apparatuses. Here she pulled out after totally flopping her UB routine. And then she compounded that by walking away from the rest of the competition. Hopefully she'll come to nationals and do a decent job so that she can look back on her comeback with a more positive feeling, but making the Olympic team is not (and was never) a real possibility.

Also wondering if she’s considered “adding” leaps to the end of Biles II and the DLO dismount to give her something to absorb extra energy into. It sucked when Aly fell on her ass training up the punch front, but a stag leap or a rebound into an oversplit straddle seems like an easy way to absorb .1-.3 in hops and also add .1-.3 for connections…just spitballing.

      I strongly disagree. First of all, as they explained, a downgraded "easy" Suni bars routine is still VERY NEEDED by USA. She won't do an "easy" version, cause we have seen her do the hard ones in podium trainings and Suni is just so good on bars. I have 1000000% confidence. But the point is that even IF she got to Paris and was like "oh no, I can't do all my difficulty right now" she can still easily break over 14 and we need that! And then she has a massive beam score that we need. AND we know she can do a DTY. And we don't need her for floor at all, but she still has a routine that-- with several big mistakes- still scored a 13. So a floor routine with better control could easily be a 13.6 (if she doesn't add any upgrades) and that is a VERY good floor score as a backup. Suni is a lock now. Everyone I know has agreed. Unless some major major major things change over the next 2 competitions, the team is pretty set:
      Simone

Given the lack of stamina this late in the quad, she has zero chance of making it to the Olympics. A year ago at this level, probably had a chance. has Simone Biles ever lost an all-around medal since she started competing as a senior? I don't. think there is any athlete, male or female, in any sport that has dominated a sport for so many years as #1. And the best part is that not only she is getting better, she seems to really love the sport. She looks like she really enjoys flying through the air. oh and by the way, she can kiss her husband any time she wants! They are an adorable couple.

      The only thing not around in 2012 was tiktok. Gabby stepped away from the sport, but she's incredibly notorious. As a professional athlete you cannot do that especially when a new class of athletes are crowning daily.
      And she's still profiting from her brand. She hasn't lost her star power at all. There are plenty of active gymnasts (this generation) who do not even compare to the amount of flowers given to her, follows on social media, and world-wide notoriety as Douglas.
      The only real difference in "this generation" is NCAA rules allowing these gymnasts to profit from their name---if we're discussing star power.

    Regarding Simone’s response, she shouldn’t have responded. She can delete IG from her phone. Of course that’s her choice to be with her husband. But in all honesty her lashing out on social media and defending her husband tells me all I need to know 😒
    I just want her to focus on her gymnastics and perform well at the Olympics. If it means that she comes off social media for some time then so be it.
    This US classic was a disaster in all honesty. Many falls in the unbars bars, people scratching out of the tournament completely (Gabby and Trinity), Konnor getting an injury and is now in a cast and on crutches - possibly the end of her Olympic journey.
    USA needs a good uneven bars specialist, right now nobody in the current roster can fulfill that spot, unless Gabby or Suni can hit that apparatus.

The public are the ones behaving with immaturity. You want to see less of this? Try telling people to leave her and her husband alone. The nerve some of you have.
