Spencer's comments about the Brazilian team melted my heart and took me by surprise, firstly because he never demonstrates favouritism to any team... secondly because he's always been very sharp when talking about the Brazilians... and suddenly he comes up with the most accurate and fair description of their current team. Fingers crossed they will all remain healthy and hit all routines with no major errors. Because if that happens.. a medal is definitely in the horizon, either way.. as Spence very well put, they are the most exciting team to watch. A beautiful combination of difficulty and artistry.
I am also the most excited for Brazil. Jade Barbosa and Flavia have been two of my favourites throughout the years, and I NEED to see them compete a full meet without injury! This worlds will be absolutely amazing!
People in sports are allowed to have FAV TEAMS! Why are gymnastics fans so delicate and simpy?
I find it hilarious that penguins came up TWICE in one podcast about gymnastics 😂😂😂😂
So excited about Jade Barbosa (from the famous family of Barbosas coming to worlds. Yes, I saw her first medal win, and how can you not love Sanne W. I know many Americans think it's amazing that Simone is going strong at 26, but in general women's gymnastics is for adult women... when you think of Ellie Seitz or Vanessa Ferrari, who are all arounders. I will give a bid for teams for Japan, as I didn't hear you say it. So exciting to see. I can not wait!!
I am so happy I found this channel. ❤ you guys, thank you.
Thank you. So glad you're enjoying it!
I don't like the putting out negative vibes out there about Simone. Its obvious anything can happen. That's sports in general.
Simone does super risky and hard gymnastics so her doing poorly is dangerous.
I hope everyone does their best!!!!! ❤
I love you guys, you crack me up, while also talking real gymnastics!
I gotta say I really appreciate yalls commitment to pronouncing the athlete's name as closely as you can to what it is in their native language. The Chinese names were pretty good!
Thank you. We definitely try.
I would love the men to have floor music I think that would be really cool
Excellent.
brazilian youtube channel CAZETV is going to broadcast QF's, only showing brazilian gymnasyts
Love the shirt spencer 😁
I want Manila Esposito medal too!!!! She's super good
Hello, can someone tell me the name of the RUclips channel recommended at 7:40 to learn more about the deductions/artistry. I didn’t hear it properly, and am new to the channel. Thanks!
Flip Fly Tumble
I'm so looking forward to these "half turning" releases getting downgraded and there being an emphasis on proper execution. I feel like the only competing gymnasts doing them properly are Ellie Black and Sanne Wevers. The way gymnasts like Nina do them just seem like shoulder injuries waiting to happen (I wouldn't be surprised if this is how Nina dislocated her shoulder).
On vault you forgot Andrade! And that Jess G from GBR has a Cheng + Yurchenko double-full. Her YDT has always scored pretty well, and the one Cheng was seen was decent too - and both have better form than Roberson's...
They did mention it, they just didn’t go into detail because no one knows if they will actually perform them at worlds because they are new upgrades!
Brazil will be far better off than they were last year for sure, but I'd still put GBR ahead of them. They've been on a more upward trajectory these past couple of years and seem to get better every year.
I hope they choose Leeann Wong. She was amazing at the classic and US championship.
With how inconsistent Skye has been on floor, I assume they will choose Leanne for AA. Even though her scoring potential isn’t as good, her floor will be received well by the judges, and her vault/ bars has been clean! I am hoping it’s her too!!
Can you please repeat the name of the youtube channel you mentioned that talks about judging and how artistry deductions work. Thanks.
Flip fly tumble
@@Raven-ll9lmThat was completely different than I heard. I thought it was the persons name! Thank you!!
@@taylorburtis the person running the channel is called Emily. They mentioned her name aswell, maybe that's what you remember
TY❤
I agree im here for Mexico ❤❤❤
I dunno about the Brazilian's Women's Team. They keep Dominque Dawesing me. In terms of skills, beauty, and inconsistency.... I just want all of the Brazilian girls to be healthy and have no injuries at these worlds!
Nothing Dawes ever did was beautiful.
@@gymstyle5091LOL 😂
@@gymstyle5091 Not beautiful for YOU but for many people it absolutely was. Her work on beam and on floor were ABSOLUTELY beautiful for fans like me.
So excited for this championships! Rotting for Leanne for the 3rd AA but will also be over the moon for Skye, probably my 2nd favorite on the team. Also really rooting for Romania! Pls pls pls let it happen. Sabrina in the floor and beam final?! 🤩
i want to see if international judges will score shilese vs leanne differently. I wouldnt be surprised if the same exact world team selection camp performances would have leanne as the 2nd best american.
@@zb6070 Leannes vault at 2022 worlds quali 13.766 to Shileses vault qualifications score was 14.200 - Shileses bars score was 14.333 in TF. Leanne performed only bars in the team final with 13.766.
Let's add context: Leanne had a known injury that nationals and was not recovered by worlds.@@DL-sl3nt. Shilese 4/4 was only 55.3 when all were clean when domestically it was like 1.5-2 points higher
@@DL-sl3ntLeanne’s last full performance was in a different COP. Not an apples to apples comparison. That is before artistry was of utmost importance and last year she was injured. I do believe Leanne could cut it close with very very clean performance and with some help from Shi on beam
Hold on. People aren’t amazed that Simone is still doing gymnastics at 26. They’re amazed that she is still dominating the field at 26. None of these older gymnasts you mentioned have managed to win the highest accolades yet. Just saying.
Yes Simone is great but you’ve completely missed the point. 🫠
💯

They should be deducting those half turns if they don’t do BEFORE they catch the bar
They always do lol
Questions.. i love Shi but do you think she should do a different style i was thinking something different like laschenova 1990 rotine or something like Boginskaya to highlight her long lines. Shi has nice arm and dance skill but i think she can push further . She has strong ballet background w her beautiful lines i want her to use it
30 is the new 20!!!! Even if you have kids
hey everyone, Hey Spencer Hello Jessica..... how is everyone doing today, im just going throught the show as always this is my thread of opinions lol
ummmmm... i wonder if someone other talkshow will stream it on twitch like always LOL.... you know maybe a link that other podcast already have or even better maybe this other podcast got someone in the arena who will get us the videos ... but who knows
i hate the switch half, and i hate all rings leaps too....
I just know Jill is waiting to see who gets artistic deductions so that she can get kendall a solo.
Anybody have thoughts on North Korea's WAG? They just won the Asian Games bronze medal and they are generally more consistent than South Korea.
But are the older gymnasts doing the skills Simone is? Have they ever done these skills even at 16? And how many gymnasts under the age of 20 are competing total compared to the number of gymnasts older than Simone. All for being clear about stuff, but it’s a false equivalence. Journalists are not wrong in this case for marveling at seeing the most difficult skills in the competition, by an athlete who it is not unwarranted for them to considered at an advanced age typical for the sport.
Can we nickname spencer Suspencer?
I am truly wondering if the USA ordinals for those performances would match up international. Not just the scores but the actual placement between skye vs joscleyn vs leanne vs shilese.
Looks like it held up fairly well in quals.
yeah surprised. i think leanne made turn errors compared to domestic meets but i thought overall artistry was going to be more enforced like. tokyo@@cleogyrl
@@zb6070 Leanne just does not have the difficulty in her routines. She has the artistic elements down well but clearly that is not enough to really compete for a medal. She provided consistency for the team though minus her fall on beam.
I think in addition to AA, there should be team apparatus medals. Keeping individual too. Probably unpopular opinion...
I actually agree with this.
Yes. Go Australia! 🇦🇺
can Russia only compete as individuals next year at Paris?
So Jade and Steven can go to apparatus cup competitions to earn an individual Olympic spot, if need be?
Pretty sure the individual spots are only for nations that hasn’t qualified a team yet, so no.
Indeed @@thesmileyone1 ! The only way for Jade to make the olympics is to be on the US highest scoring team
@@ambre_octopus Have they said they're going to pick highest scoring team this time around? They didn't for worlds, highest scoring would have had Josc and Kaliya on it, but everyone knew that was a bad idea. Technically, the team they chose is a bit down the rankings. Depends on how you calculate it (high score, average score, median score, which meets you include, etc), but based on my analysis of median score from nationals and worlds camp, the team they chose was only the tenth-highest scoring team, almost half a point lower than the highest scoring team. But I *absolutely* think they chose the right team! Highest score isn't the only thing that matters--maybe for other countries it is, but the US has enough buffer with Simone that they can afford to think of other priorities, like smart team composition with good backups on every event in case of injury/disaster, and EF medals.
@@erinm9445 "but the US has enough buffer with Simone that they can afford to think of other priorities" - and look how that worked out in Tokyo. Jade should have been on that team and not Grace. That said, those selected for this World team are the right ones, though I probably would have given the travel alternate to Jordan.
@@3Axel1996 I am thinking of what happened in Tokyo. That's why one of the priorities I listed was a balanced team that has solid backups on all four events, so that the team can still do as well even if disaster strikes.
I agree that in retrospect Jade would have been better for the team than Grace, but since Jade didn't bring her full difficulty or best gymnastics trials, I'm not sure how anyone could have known that. I actually think Myk should have been on the team over Grace for her vault score alone, plus her trackrecord of coming through at high-pressure events. That said, with Jade or Myk, the US still would have gotten silver, Russia won by over 2 and a half points.
Agree that they chose the right team for worlds. But my point is that that isn't actually the highest scoring team, and it's the right call. Whereas for Britain, who is clawing for every tenth they can to assure a silver, and for teams with a chance of bronze, they probably need to go with their highest scoring team without exception, and just hope that disaster doesn't strike.
R O M A N I A ! ! !
Spencer has nice hair and Jessica is nice
Would somebody please; answer that question? PLEASE!❤
I feel as if Luanne’s artistry will bode well for team USA here… just a prediction?
She gets 0.1 off for lack of complex choreography/movements but her posture is very good
How can you talk about vault finals and not mention Andrade???
You weren't paying attention enough. They mentioned the gold in vault finals will be between Biles and Andrade.
@@3Axel1996I just listened to the section about vault final again and it's just Simone and her ydp, josc and then the rudi club. Maybe they talked about it at the beginning but during the vault final section they didn't (or I missed it four times)
@@Raven-ll9lm Sorry, you were right. And yes, a big omission on their part.
FOR THE WOMEN; WHO WON:
*THE ALL-AROUND.TITLE???
How Jade Carey doing. I don't hardly hear anything about her.
Seems wrong to have an individual gold and bronze medalists from last year off the team. She could easily still medal on VT.
She didn't make the worlds team. She was offered a PanAm team spot but declined due to her sisters wedding. She is going to the Swiss cup in November and still doing NCAA
@@Appaddict01 When it came to the World team selection, you still placed 12th in the All Around... It's all about the team first before individual, especially when you have Simone competing in Vault Finals. Being inconsistent didn't help either, as well as no longer having the Amanar.
@@3Axel1996 She messed up her only two decent events and didn't make the team then she was overscored on her Cheng.
She hasn’t been hitting like she usually does. I think she hasn’t had an adequate amount of time off that it’s starting to take a toll on her performance. Her vaults are still good but downgraded.
Roberson is not the new Raisman! Her form is so atrocious!
Raismans bent legs on her amanar and her bars form issues say Hi.
😂
I was hoping it would be a nabavia. ugliest skill, i don’t really care how hard it is.
You think the Nabieva is ugly? It’s one of my favourite skills on bars, if it doesn’t have the half turn! It’s beautiful when executed right, just like the layout jaeger!
I’m so happy I’m not the only one that doesn’t think Simone is guaranteed gold for beam. There are so many better routines and athletes at beam than Simone. It’s sad that the Chinese get completely forgotten about how majestic they are at this event because Simone is queen of gymnastics that everyone else gets forgotten JUST ABOUT. Simone is good at beam but gold medal…ehhhhh not if the Chinese hit. I just enjoy their style better. Simone has a lot of wobbles and rushing. Her flipping and dismount are impressive but there’s hardly any beauty to it.
That is subjective nonsense
Yet Simone is a multiple time beam gold medalist. Don't minimize her accomplishments on beam because you personally don't appreciate it. Reality doesn't care what would have been "if only x had hit their routine". The gold goes to whoever hits when it counts, and Simone wobbles and falls like everyone else but she hits most of the time when it counts. And I find beauty in her style of gymnastics so there's that.
@@cleogyrl There you go! Clearly the judges viewed Simone's 'rushing' as fluency and rewarded her according to the COP not a poll taken of 'keyboard gymnasts' views.
Simone has always had intense competition on Beam with the Chinese over the years, a beam medal has never FULLY been said to be hers especially with the Chinese. I think you’re just using that as an excuse to bash Simone.
@@jacobmiller2663 I think you like to be blinded by truth.
