I cried with pride when Carlos Yulo won the first men’s gymnastics medal for the Philippines and a gold medal at that 😭. It’s so much more difficult to believe you can do something if you haven’t seen it done before. He is breaking barriers for brown kids all around the world. 🇵🇭

From the Philippines here and we finally have our first Olympic Gymnastic medal and its Gold!! Carlos Yulo is such an inspiration. His time has finally come!!

As an irish woman i cried many many tears of joy watching Rhys win and then cried more at the medal ceremony, so proud of the man
im american and I think i cried more for Yulo and Rhys than Simone! lol😂 i live for these olympic "firsts."

Jade golden girl, no question she's an inspiration for the young generations and a greate athlete and member of champion team.
I loved how Carlos shouted after his dismount. I felt like he was expelling all his competition demons wirh that one.

Good point. They kept saying the vault competition with Simone Biles is coming up but no mention of Jade.
NBC makes my head hurt. I'm going to take the wins where I can and create the atmosphere worthy of these champions.
So happy for Carlos and Rhys, I was rooting for both of them to win gold. I got a bit concerned when Nariman posted his score, but luckily Rhys did what he was capable of and pulled through 😊

The sticky stuff is tac 10! I used to use it for vault because I slipped and almost died once. Stuff is also useful for pommel horse and beam (according to my teammates at the time)

Yulo was landing very clean, glad he got the top spot and made history for the Philippines. Women's vault was awesome.
Relieved Andrade didn't do that triple. My knees hurt thinking about it. I hope she takes time and makes sure she can reliably land post-twist. I'm skeptical til we see footage of said landing instead of selective editing.
on the sidelines you could hear Sam Mikulak tell Steven he wasn't getting a flag, he was getting a cape.
I thought Brody was trying out for the triple jump during his routine

I saw Simone in a red Leo and am like not 2023 again then she landed her YDP and finally got a breath
Thank you. I realized she had the same colors for all round and vault final 2023. She had a blue Leo for last year all round, just like this year and red Leo for vault final last year. Now do you think she’s wearing a purple Leo for beam and floor final this year, like she did last year beam and floor final.
I keep checking back to see if you guys are going to do an episode on the bronze medal crazy craziness. Did I miss it somewhere?
I enjoyed the men's competition more than the women's! The women are great too, but the enthusiasm and emotion that at least the U.S. men's team shows after every routine they hit, for themselves and for their teammates, is so infectious.
When Simone Yawned before her vault I knew she was gonna nail it because of what Jessica said lol

The way I cried to see my Jade, just screamed, and ugly cried. Her bronze medal on vault is a thing of beauty. To go last is a showcase, don't count out a champ!!! Mr. Carey please pen a book. Teach these fools your ways.
Rebe was doing smart gymnastics. She has more medals to go after. There was no need to risk her life to miss the podium. She knew Jade suffers no fools and silver was hers if she nailed her cleanest and best.
Simone nailed down the best YDP of this series and her Cheng was no slouch. The red leo was fire. She's counting nothing out for #LA28. But she's ready to retire the YDP.

I have an observation on Carlo Yulo... his tumbling in the air looks sideways and makes him take side steps when he lands (unless he sticks it) , is this normal? it looks weird but im not sure if its normal. In the women's, they don't look like they have an angle in the air.
Maybe it’s the technique he was taught when he was young. I don’t know too much about men’s gymnastics, but I don’t think it’s ideal to take side steps because it shows a lack of control. Gymnasts (for women’s at least) are usually taught to take a step forwards or backwards
I am so concerned about the people around Caloy. His girlfriend seems very sus and I hope he has support around him to handle his affairs especially the financial incentives from his Olympic success.
As a follow up, the Philippine media seems to be more interested in the financial incentives then the actual gold medal. I’m worried for caloy

@@NoblePeril it’s me too obviously. I’d love to be able to support lots of things but there’s only so far my wallet will stretch. No shade to those who make enough to have the extras. My support just includes the like and the watch. I take care of many animals and lots need special prescription food and come with expensive vet bills. I give up dinners out and vacations and lots of other little wants and needs plus big things too. I also care for my mother so I do my best with it all.
I am só sad about Rebeca cant win a gold medal! My heart is broken
When you’re competing against Simone (except for bars, possibly beam as well), silver is essentially gold. Plus she has an Olympic gold from Tokyo on vault

Simone was fabulous, of course. She and Rebecca and Jade are beyond royalty all three of them. The only (shallow) complaint that I had was that I hated her leotard. I’ve loved the rest of them but red is NOT Simone's color. Shades of blue and violet are her colors. Gorgeous. Mileage varies.
That's definitely up to personal opinion. On the NBC RUclips clip for her vaults, one of the top comments is how much they like her red Leo.

@@aaronsandman749 C'est la vie. I'll stand alone. To date, the blue leotard she wore at last years worlds is the most stunning leotard I've ever seen on her, followed closely by the deep purple she wore I think(?) in 2018. Red made her disappear. Simone's deep blue leo and Rebecca's crystal covered yellow leo from the all around were breathtaking. Rebecca could be a model if she were tall. Now this is a future subject for Jessica to cover--battle of the leotards.
@@galveston blue is gorgeous too. Bright and bold solids are winners. I love USA but the flags are busy.
I'm definitely in the Spencer camp concerning Suni and Rebeca making conservative choices of their vaults.
NOBODY wants to see these dedicated champions take unnecessary risks to chase medals and/ or clout.
