Grew up to flood-risk place so i'm used to flood every year. I know people who lost everything in countless floods. It can be like that, but we should be thankful that we dont lose our love ones to flood. I wish you all the best and may you guys find strength during this hard time!
Thanks. I am going to try this out by inserting a hose pipe in the kitchen tap and filling the water into my mom's basement. I will tell you how it goes!
Here in Detroit basement flooding is really bad. Nearly every time it rains the whole neighborhood has their basements flooded. Basements with around 3 inches of sewage water its really bad. Worst thing about it is that this has been happening for 5 years now.
From personal experience, the submersive utility pumps work better than water vac only when the water is high enough. Come in with the water vac after then fans and dehumidiers.
Dont throw away Photos. while it is very small chance. you might be able to save them and have them dry out. where you might be able to have them Scanned and saved again. either printing them off again or having them placed on usb stick to keep safe. Another thing to do. If you do live in a basement. One thing try to do. Make sure that stuff like photos and important information is like on Top shelves of stuff. alot less Likely that stuff might end up ruined due to water damaged. While it is hard to deal with. Also even if your area might not have flooding issues, Having Flood insurance for basement apt is always a good idea.
My basement floods anytime it rains so I couldn't imagine if the hurricane hit my area hard and I live in NJ BTW but the hurricane didn't really affect passaic country it just a bit heavy
It’s why now I’m putting together an emergency bag. I would risk losing everything else over what holds dear to me and myself. It also affects other elements like a fire.
would save the pictures at least if not ruined I mean you can dry them out still. paperwork and diaries if can be saved and dried and still be able to read them then sure but furniture, clothing can all be replaced, will suck for any electronics lost unless still have good warranty
Rising rent cost causes the same kind of loss. When cost of living makes working people homeless, we have to throw memories like pictures away because no place to store them.
The south gets laughed at by the north on how we (I'm from Nashville) the south handle snow. But the north has no idea how to brace for tornadoes, floods.
this is why yall have to a portable safe!!!! resistant to water and fire!!!! go to walmart they have them ther!!!! before next hurricane season because even if you save your atuff in the attic a tornado can just take it all away
I’d thought and expect after soo many years of east coast being hit my hurricane and floodes the city and states would spend money on improving the situation feels like no one wants to spend money on it …
The woman's voice shaking while she talks about all her treasured items being destroyed, so heartbreaking.
:(
why did she throw the pictures if she likes them so much
I feel so bad for all the people who lost these precious treasures and memorable items. Hopefully everyone can recover from all this damage.
ur everywhere lol
So sad, can’t imagine losing everything. At least most stuff can be replaced.

Just need to be thankful for to be alive. Your memories is your heart and mind.
Awesome, no more hoarding
Very carefully

Bacteria and pathogens can be collected from the dirty flood water, though.
I work at Servpro in Northwest Indiana.
Remember we brought this upon ourselves
I feel so bad for these people.
Now, them pictures could be saved 🥺🥺🥺
Hoarding and collecting. Two different things
Finally the cleaning their basement and threw out all the garbage from many many years
What sucks is that mildew smell with come up the vents and make the whole house smell bad
0:44 what that boy stepping on?😂
A sign of what times Limited edition?
Pictures should always be kept in water tight plastic bags preferably in the attic . Oh and keep digital copies online in the cloud .
Buy that spinning mop..effective in absorbing the water.

America! Lots of stuff (memories). Hoarding....
If only those precious memories she had were waterproof.
