      Awesome to see that you were sponsored by BMW (eyewear)! Congrats!
      I temporarily owned a 2022 BMW M240i xDrive, similar to the car you reviewed today. I also loved the door handles and driving dynamics of it.
      also, I've been thinking hard about BMW developing a carbon fiber chassis platform, what do you think? Honestly I think it'd be super cool if BMW developed a variant of the "G" Chassis with some carbon influence and what better than a Z4 LTW or something :) There IS a Z4 M40i with a manual coming, but how awesome would it be if they made a bunch of B58 Manual Transmission 'LTW' cars. Right now, if you google Carbon Fiber Monocoque and go to the wiki, the only BMWs on there are the i3 and i8! I do wish they made a ZM with a carbon fiber monocoque, and used that to take us into the next chassis platform that are more friendly to EVs (of course having ICE options as well, as they currently do).

      @@jpldriverhaha you have no idea what your talking about…
      • Saloon/Sedan: A saloon is a four-door car designed for comfortable transportation of passengers. It typically seats 4-5 people, prioritizing space, practicality, and comfort, with a balanced performance for daily driving.
      • Sports Car: A sports car is designed for high-performance driving, often with a two-door configuration. It prioritizes speed, agility, and driving dynamics, usually sacrificing some comfort and space for enhanced performance and aesthetics.
      2. Performance:
      • Saloon: Generally, saloons have moderate engines designed for smooth, reliable, and fuel-efficient driving. Some luxury saloons may offer powerful engines but are still tuned for comfort rather than performance.
      • Sports Car: Sports cars are built for speed and agility, with more powerful engines, quicker acceleration, and superior handling to provide a more thrilling driving experience.
      3. Seating and Space:
      • Saloon: Designed for practicality, with a spacious interior, larger trunk, and comfortable seating for multiple passengers.
      • Sports Car: Often has limited seating (usually 2-4 seats) and less cargo space, as the focus is on performance rather than utility. Yes sports cars can have 4 seats! And no it’s not a saloon!

    I had my year23 M240i for a few months now, and I loved it. It’s a perfect car for young people or for people who had a family car already. I drive it everyday and the cruising ability of this car, for daily drive, is awesome. When it comes to performance, this car can definitely give you some experience. Even though not as much experience as a rear wheel drive m2, it’s enough for people like me who don’t do serious racing. I hated the face of the m2 when I bought my m240, but now I am in love with the aggressive looking of the m2. I guess it’s because I see my car everyday, and that aggressive looking really just adding points on.

    i agree on price, but don't forget when you buy new, you get your first 3 services done from BMW at no charge, don't think the mustang has that

    I don’t like the speedo & tach design in iDrive 8. My B9 Audi S4 (which might get replaced with a Bimmer) has the ideal layout. Round tachometer in the middle of the dash with a sweeping needle, along with digital speedo and gear position in the center of the ring. All it would take is a little GUI programming. That aside, M240i xDrive is on my short list, but then why not get an M340i with more humane back seats? The weight difference is trivial. The roughly 4-inch difference in wheelbase might have a bigger impact on driving dynamics.

    • @anhiirr
      @anhiirr 16 дней назад

      its not just the weight....but the aspect of rigidity with a sunroof delete in a coupe...vs a 4d IMO. Coupes are for ppl that typically dont want to compromise driving/dynamics even at the expense of passenger/priority. Plus ngl the grill comparison....and the typical would be "return to form" as so many damn content creators have stated with the 2 series...being a 2d coupe...with that ideally smol/classic bmw grill/design. Its a bit of a heritage/feel/choice for ppl that have owned bmw in the past as something akin to what may have existed/closely resembled what they had in an m3 or etc.... older m2 or 135i etc. IJS. I mean yeah if they had a TRACK mode with a simplified tac or something that was actually ADVANTAGEOUS over past platforms it would have been nice to see considering how some of the cheaper options like elantra N or even the supra offer something more ideal. Like you said still on a short list and i have "LARGER" issues with other cars Golf R(mark ups) Wrx(needs cosmetic/changes and BBK), corolla just like the WRX offers V8 MPG minus the rev-range/powerband of a v8 even if they are fast. A lot of trivial aspects of "car buying" these days as far as the slew of cars that would seemingly OFFER a lot of "fun" obviusly about the options that check the most boxes....and IMO every 10,000$ price segment you go UP....IMO the more boxes are necessary to check/to justify one option over the other but thats just me.

    • @anhiirr
      @anhiirr 16 дней назад

      fwiw it doesnt seem bad the base m240i comes with an e-dif....you have to pacakge TF out of the 230i to include the e dif...and m suspension/brakes.....comes to near 50,000$ USD after taxes/processing. SMDH. ID rather save a bit longer and put a bigger down payment towards a b58 ATP. Though i do like the balanced feel of the 230i rwd....id consider a fullly m packaged 230i used just bc of the NEW price difference than used damn near 10-15,000$ cheaper. for 2022-2023. From a daily/weight balance MPG standpoint TBH id rather have a tuned 230i fully m specd....but if were talking figures far beyond those power figures....the b58 with a modest tune or tune+exhaust is already LEAPS ahead of the b48. JUst imo going used b48 offers some wiggle room to mod/tune and still maintain some of the weight reduction.

    I like the instrument cluster better in the 22'. The side profile gives me 90's model GTR vibes. With the smooth side with wider shoulders and hips. Wish the rear diffuser was better to accommodate twin dual tip exhaust. Performance stock is awesome, and the tune ability can make this a monster very easy and still get great fuel economy. I will be getting one when interest rates come down. Not paying no 5-9% interest rate for a car, that to me just does not make financial sense at all. But I want a 22' model just because I like the cluster and also still has the handle for the shifter and knobs for climate control.

    The problems: 1. The windscreen is narrow, and looks it here. Its vertical dimension is small. Sit in this car and then jump in a 1-series and note the stark difference in forward vision arcs. 2. The height of the driving position. Its about 1cm too high. Carbon seats might solve this -- the M4 is perfect in this way -- but that windscreen is set high also, and it can't move down. 3. The weight, and therefore changes in momentum, may leave your stomach behind, whilst hammering the tyres & brakes. Otherwise brilliant, but maybe you want the better pattern of steering-wheel.

    The purple color (thunder metallic) in the M240i is simply amazing looking. I’d get that over any other color.
    And the M240i is going to beat that Mustang in the quarter mile. AWD and faster shifts make it barely faster.

    Interesting. I have owned 3 Mustangs in the past. The last one was a 16GT premium. I traded it in for a 21 Challenger Scat Pack 1320. I like it, but since it is my only car, it is a bit of a hassle switching the wheels out twice a year and still have to be careful in the NW Ohio winter as my aftermarket wheels only have the Continental DWS tires. I had been thinking of getting some kind of beater for the snow season like an older Cherokee, but really don't want to drive something rusted out or not reliable, then you have the added expense of another vehicle to insure, maintenance, ect. I was recently trying to think of any decent looking awd cars that are still fun to drive and fairly powerful. I used to like the looks of the STI and EVO, but they don't make them anymore and the current WRX is ugly. The Audi RS3 looks good, but really don't want 4 doors and it's a little pricey. The Golf R is more in my budge, but pretty much no options and also 4 door. Anyway, after checking out the Supra, I heard that the M2 might be worth a look. Honestly never thought of a BMW since I thought they were way out of my budget, but really one of these would not be that much more than I paid for my nearly loaded 1320. I first started researching the M2 and I like it, but it's kind of expensive if you start adding any options at all. Then I heard the M240i could be optioned out to be about as quick as the M2 plus with the added benefit of awd for everyday driving. My only concerns are I'm not sure about the front end as the M2 looks much better imo and the fact they don't offer ventilated seats, wtf? IDK, probably just ranting here and will most likely end up keeping my Dodge since I love the V8 sound and the Sinnamon Stick color and the fact I got 0% financing for 72 months with it. It's also a rare car and probably a 1 of 1 with the options I ordered on it and could go up in value since it looks like eight cylinder muscle cars time is coming to an end. What do you guys think, worth it to look into trading into one of these and starting over payments again? The only way I would even consider it would be if I was offered a really good trade in and close to 0% financing, which I seriously doubt BMW offers, but I do have very good credit.

      if you need seating/accommodation id look at a golf R....WRX is ugly terrible MPG just like the GR corolla. Golf R and M2 offers manual or DCT. Personally id go with m2...but IMO its more fun to drive in RWD than X-drive....X-drive if you get to experience both....detracts/robs you of so many inputs/feelings overall feel/driving characteristics that IMO is the whole point of going ALL IN on a SPORTS car or performance oriented tier trim/tune. Sure x-drive helps with all weather....if anything if youre seriously considering one i guess drive a few audi to compare the feel/drive quality over the bmw x-drive options. IMO id definitely consider a rwd daily or something like an elantra N....and a beater for the snow. If you value your driving/inputs from a pure enjoyment standpoint. X-drive is quite a compromise. You may as well get an suv at that point bc the x-drive compared to the RWD 240i or m2....is night and day as far as which one actually FEELS sportier to drive in terms of G's foot/hand communicative relationship and how evocative/enjoyable a drive/road can be. The level of g's youll feel even in a lighter 230i or elantra N compared to a scat pack XD ijs.

    Would the only difference between the 230i and 240i be the horsepower and a few tiny designs?

    • @anhiirr
      @anhiirr 16 дней назад +1

      From what ive seen configuring both....the 240i comes with the e-dif standard....but still needs m+breaks and suspension added to be "ideal" the 230i when adding m brakes+suspension doesnt include the e-dif....which is also part of the "technology package" So if you want an IDEAL 230i from a driving standpoint.....you wind up getting 360 cameras LED headlights full infotanement etc....forced upon you via e-dif package. YET lumbar support is still what? 250-300$ extra. LUL. TBF once you go down that rabbit hole the 230i fully packaged/ideal.....is 48,000+ tax & handling fees. IMO if you can afford the maintenance and MPG difference and typically wider tires/aftermarket rims etc....a lot of these expenses/concepts are deemed as GIVEN/standard when owning a 240i. But out of the box its more performance on straights than a 230i....in reality in most canyons even some tracks....once both get into the 80-120mph ranges...and can carry that speed the 230i is typically a more ideal car to drive/fast. 240i=acceleration speed 230i= damn near 1:1 weight ratio balance better MPG highway/eco mode....lighter....b58 is for the majority of ppl trying to run x-drive do drag race ppl like in stangs/challengers....RWD though is where the real driving/feel/fun/value is at. JUST IMO if you want a fully M packaged 230i....get one used so much cheaper 10,000$+ less than MSRP....otherwise it isnt really worth it....or yorue better off leasing one if you have good job/income and just buying a 240i outright instead while leasing a fully m'd out 230i so you can experience both. From a pure daily standpoint id rather have a 230i....unless you like to jump from 50-60mph fwy traffic to 120+ to cut a bunch of ppl off like a dick....the 240i willl generally entail the aftermarket/enthusiast demographic for the b58/platform. So finding one used down the road in Ideal condition may be harder/price oriented as it is in 5+ years or so as well SMH

      whats sad about the mustang is....the lack of continuity with it being a "Drivers car" with such a shit manual transmission offered....while simultaneously doing a joint venture with GM investing millions in making their automatics all hot rod/streetable POWER ready with the gear ratios.....yet IMO id take a mustang PP2 with a ZF8....thats truly whats so stupid about cars these days. Mustang needs GM implementations like magneride and their transmissions to sell and market their cars as IDEAL....only just recently installed IRS and independent rear axles....and IMO only recently got competitive "track time" wise as far as being able to be marketed as a sports/performance oriented car now that its times/benchmarks are more or less COMPETITIVE with the ACTUAL cars its BEEN marketed TOWARDS all this time....many of the time they had to use boss 302 figures to compare to other options in the past. Screwing around in a standard GT with a 6 spd seems fun till it breaks or you actually think youll PULL performance/actual speed out of one of those things bone stock mid corner or mid corner to exit LMFAO....ppl can talk big all they want about how manly V8 power is....not when youre neutered and have to play the throttle like a sissy every corner LMFAO.

    I think on paper the golf r is so close to this and even better in some ways for less money that it’s hard to choose the m240i like heated and cooled front seats. Heated rear seats and 0-60 similar so is 1/4 mile time. Golf r I think actually has better breaking performance. The bmw does win in looks and drivetrain both for motor and x drive system. Volkswagen dsg probably better than the zf though. Some what considering both cars

      Dealers in my area are all $10,000 over sticker for the Golf R. The Golf was my first choice, but since there were none available to even look at, and the fact I'll never pay more than msrp for a car, I ordered one of these.

      FWIW once they added independent rear axles/suspension i finally saw the mustang as something comparable to a bmw XD...or a v8 OHC bmw. Plus imo it made those 302/jags shit over night when a pp2 mustang was a cheap fast viable option. That getrag transmission and gear/slip failures though is another thing entirely lotta suckers buying some second hand modulars and even 32v coyotes thinking they were going to have a nice autocross platform on hand....wound up retiring/selling after a single season bc of trans issues.
