This almost what my interpretation of the song was. Specifically, my interpretation was that it was written from the perspective of the Earth itself, which could be considered a semantic distinction.

Yes this was about Charles Manson and yes it was about showing a different side of him. The reason for it was, as Daron the guitarist himself said ''The Charles Manson everybody sees on television everything is always one-sided on television, I don’t agree with killing anybody. I don’t agree with going in and slashing anybody’s throats or anything, writing shit on the walls. That’s not what I’m into. That’s not the side of the Charles Manson that I’m into. Once read that this song is about how anyone can agree with the thoughts of someone who is an horrible person, I mean, I also agree with Manson's sight, at least, just that one which he thought that the whole world should care more than ever with the environment, Air, Trees, Water and Animals deserve all the respect we can give to them.
To finish, is courious how I agree with that sight, but I could never second the fact he was a murderer!
Manson was stark raving mad, but he was also extremely charismatic, and sure the environment is important, but we as humans, also wants to control it, change it by our whims, the environmentalists are the same, they want to preserve life, that would perhaps naturally die out, it's just what they do, they don't value the course of nature, they just value that everything should be as it is, in my view, environmentalists have the worst kind of OCD imaginable by mankind, this tree shall remain here forever, this owl, should live in it for all eternity... they're a bit too crazy, let that owl die out, it's the last of it's kind, better kill it and eat it, let nature run it's course. We have plenty of time on our hands to do whatever, that's the biggest fault of humanity. Too much time, which is a fucking dilemma seeing as our lives are too short... fucking hell how did we even get into that conundrum in the first place. However we should care about the environment, but we shouldn't control it to the extent we do today, and if we're going to replant forests, to what they once were, well we'll have to tear out current ecosystems for them, and people don't bat an eye, Oh there used to grow Sequoia trees here before, let's just chop down all of these birch trees, and replant some Sequoia...

Environmentalists do want nature to run its course. It's undeniable that humans have had a very negative impact in multiple ways. Environmentalists seek to mitigate that impact as much as possible.

This band is THE BAND, they literally pull 90% of their album songs as absolute masterpieces...
It's just about how you can still agree with some of a person's ideas and philosophy even though they ended up being evil. Not always 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater', so to speak.

The song is about how the band, Daron specifically, thought Charles Manson had some good points. He agreed with some of his thoughts but not the murder side of him.
Yeah I agree, the whole mass murderer thing really put a damper on his environmental message... though interestingly enough he never killed anyone himself (that we're aware of anyway), he just got his family to do it.

Guitarist Daron Malakian had an interest in Manson and wrote some of the lyrics.he believes the media has not portrayed all sides of Manson, and feels that some of his ideas were actually very good, especially his thoughts on the environment.

If you want to progress further in their sophomore album "Toxicity" I would recommend "X" or "Forest". Both are filled with instant transitions, both have hard and quite soft parts and both are, as it is often the case with SOAD, very political. If you want to do a song from another album, I recommend "Holy Mountains", "Tentative" and, for a ballad, "Lonely Day"

I believe that Darrin Malaykian was the main writer on this song, and quite possibly idolized Manson. Not 100% sure but I believe I remember reading this somewhere back about 10 years ago.
Also I don't know if you realize this but many people idolize Manson.... A friend of mines Mom had a little white dog, named Charlie, and that dog was indeed named by his mom after Charles manson

Wish you’d do some studio versions here and there. I appreciate the live aspects but you miss a lot of the tones and sounds that make them so good.
He has addressed this in previous videos. Apparently RUclips is viscous when it comes to claiming rock songs, so he does the live version to avoid a claim. He goes back immediately after the live version and checks out the studio version. I would suggest he does the exact same thing he does now, but after he listens to the studio version he should record a min or two reaction to that leaving the music out. That way we get to hear it the first time with him, he doesn't get claimed, and we also get to see how he feels about the studio version.

Is there any chance you could listen to the studio album right after the live version you do, and then add your "after reaction" to your final upload? Also, do you think this decision of listening and reacting to live versions has changed your reactions minimally or by a lot? Just your opinion on that? There seems to be a lot of talk about studio version this and that and we all (should) know it's because of copyright stuff. Perhaps something like that will put the focus of the comments back to the songs and your reactions instead of ^this kind of comment. (I promise I understand, and frankly I don't mind at all, but seeing all the other comments just has me trying to help if I can.) Love your videos and some of the other comments talked about Manson in more detail. Seems interesting.
