I have a 2020 EcoBoost HPP without the handling package. The MSRP was $35k but was able to get it for $31k. There are a lot of upgrades that you didn't mention that the HPP package comes with like strut tower brace and bigger front and rear sway bars plus active exhaust. It also has a twin scroll turbo with a 40% wider powerband than the regular EcoBoost. 0-60 in 4.5 seconds with the A10 transmission
I have the 2020 HPP Premium WITH the handling package and well, all the bells & whistles but I love this car. Before even taking delivery, I added the GT 350R brake package and the wheels to compliment it, along with the lowering springs it's a great performer and handles like a dream. The go fast goodies are next.
Yes the 2.3 Ecoboost is a great engine. When I got my wife the Explorer with the 2.3 and never have driven a Ford with that engine, I was very impressed! Nice vid
Great breakdown of the package options, and agreed that Ford's layered packaging options is frustrating. My wife and I would love to buy a Ford Bronco Sport but the frustrating packaging options means its impossible for us to order one exactly how we want. In any case, I still think this EcoBoost Mustang is appealing to a narrow market. Either people who think Mustangs are cool but dont care for ripping performance with the base/premium option package, or the performance package I could see being good for the sliver of enthusiasts who care more about autocrossing or corners than straight line speed/sound of the V8.
The new Bronco is awesome, but Ford makes you layer on packages to get what you want. The Ecoboost sells more than the GT, but I think there are less enthusiasts who get the car as everyone wants the v8.
i spent the same amount of money and got the high performance engine and handling package. The appearance packages and premium arent really worth it when you could have a track ready car instead
Great video! Mustang 550 is gorgeous, regardless of trim level. You can tell it's getting at the end of its run though with nothing new except appearance packages to keep it relevant until the S650 hits the scene.
They better do something impressive with the interior, as the exterior changes shown in various renderings do not impress. It's more mid-cycle refresh than generational change, IMO. The nose of the 550 is near perfect, whereas the narrow headlights from the Mach-E make it look less interesting and it makes the car look smaller. I've always had issues with each new redesign at first, so time will tell how this one goes... I think what we're seeing is a car that needs to take a big leap, and the conditions are such that only a small jump can be done right now. It will likely be a transitional design to carry through to the actual redesign that will probably see full electrification (and most likely, the end of the V8).
@@rusticroads Personally I love the exterior of the S550. I think we'll get something very similar in the next gen. The interior definitely needs a serious refresh though.
The Camaro makes the Mustang look incredible , especially side by side . No wonder they aren’t making the Camaro too much longer - ugly as hell - unless you by ZL1 LE .
Are the illuminated mustang door sills working on your car? I have the stealth edition and mine never worked. Dealer can't figure out what is wrong. I found someone else on a forum who is also having the same issue with this stealth package. :(
Your breakdown of the packages and spending $40k in the best way is really nice! It's unfortunate that Ford forces buyers to add features they may not want/need in order to get what they do want. Why can't we add Magneride separately? Either they just want to pad the average selling price with unneeded add-ons, or someone thinks that the only people who would want something to make their car ride better are also looking to add horsepower and other performance add-ons. I have a V8 Mustang, and the Ecoboost is a fine engine, but only when compared to other 4-bangers. I would never hold it against anyone who chooses to go with the Ecoboost, as long as they don't think they bought the same experience with much less money. My personal impression after driving one is that they might as well offer an electric (not hybrid) version instead. If they're going to make a car to compete with a Honda Civic, then the gas engine is a waste of weight, oil, and gasoline. I'd be hard-pressed to choose between a V8 for the growl and the muscle factor and the electric for the quickness and convenience of it all. I'd probably have to buy both!
I got mine for 27k , only 2800 miles . Manual and I'm full bolt ons. It's fun but tbh I might end up buying a GT . Especially when they drop the new S650 the prices might drop for the S550
I don’t understand why sound is so important. They create fake noise for cars now, don’t they? Tesla makes no noise and is faster. They only focus on performance, not something inconsequential like sound.
Sounds is not inconsequential at all. Sound is emotional. If you've ever driven a car with a great motor and exhuast you'll know what I mean. If you want a Tesla, buy a Tesla. You're talking apples to oranges.
I had a 2021 GT Premium with a manual MT82 transmission. Complete garbage! I could put up with the cheap plastic interior, engine tick and the glitchy electronics, but the drive train was garbage. Kept the GT for 2 months and unloaded it....was a pile of junk. Bought a real car from another manufacturer with a standard TREMEC couldn't be happier...FU FORD! BTW - if you did buy this POS with a MT82 you can join the class action suit!
you wasted the money this is nothing more then a boat anchor in 3 years. Electrics are taking over and anything with an ICE engine will look like you are riding a horse in this day and age.
Thanks. This was really helpful.

Yes - quite a few upgrades. I didn't get into all of them because people unfortunately click off when I do a list. $31K is very good! Enjoy your car!

That car is the beauty and the beast, all in one ❤
Great show and very well explained !!But I go for the GT S550 thank you very much
I still say Mustang nailed the look of those.
I agree

Got my 2021 GT standard last year with the black accent package and 10 speed auto for right under 40k. No regrets
That's a good price
Yea

Looks like the S650 will debut in Detroit in a few weeks

I’m waiting one but also premium and 201A EP 😅
I dont know why the obvious omission of Fords real competition. Excellent review as always.
The Camaro is a great car, but they are quite unpopular. GM hasn't updated the car in years.
Camaro LT1. 455 HP. $36k cant beat Performance for value
Very hard to beat bang for the buck.
V8 6.2 ltr isn’t really what they are comparing the 4cyl 2.3 turbo.
Focus RS uses the same engine and it isn’t hard to get over 600hp out of mine.
The Camaro makes the Mustang look incredible , especially side by side . No wonder they aren’t making the Camaro too much longer - ugly as hell -

Can we still order 2022 lt1 model? Trying to trade my scat in

Jezz I was lucky then. I bought a 2015 GT Fastback, 50th edition 40k Miles, manual, leather seats, all Stock. Clean title, borla atak exhaust.
For 22k
Also is it a tremec transmission? If mt82 eek
Not the Tremec. That’s only in the Mach 1 unfortunately

Good price
Remember Ford will only factory tune Pro Pack ones and Pro Pack two's.
For that much money you can get a used GT. 40k for an ecoboost is too much and I love those cars.
Great until it runs into the same problem with the Focus RS with the engine problem.
That was a head gasket issue that was resolved early on. The wrong gasket was installed on some cars.
The right way to do it is by getting the V8 instead

$40k???? I'm paying much less for the 22 stealth package
310 horsepower I rather get a 2022 mustang gt 450 horsepower
40k for an ecoboom....? I'll stick with my '11 3.7, 290rwhp and total 14k including mods
Preach. May as well and just get the V8 with that kind of money than a ticking time bomb
@@ObiWanStromboli yeah that's what I should've done, but I got mine with 50k miles for $9500. A gt was at least 20k with comparable miles
Pretty good price actually
38k for the GT 😆
It's only an ecoboom when these kids tune it to oblivion. Otherwise the engine is pretty reliable if kept stock and maintained well.
Not much slower than the V8… lol.
For my daily commute What RPM at highway speed 6th Gear wear and tear on my wallet
