"I'll entertain some of that" is a very mature and the right thing to say regarding all circumstances. Steve has really evolved and has shown the world you can do this and do it right.
@Ben Franklin yeah but to many times I have seen 1 person bring down a group. Bam it seems has made no point to better himself while others have tried. He is still acting like 2000 will call him back. Sad to see. I wonder if this is a causation of having everything and not having the ability to just say NO. It seems like his family is the only one that came from money of the crew of Jackass. He never learned how to not let it consume him.
@@PatRiot- A mix of both, if what he says is true about getting kicked out of hotels and the media treating him unfairly is as bad as he has said, then there's some truth to the idea that he's being fucked over. However, there's also, obviously, a lot of truth to his own behavior being his downfall. I think him getting fucked over is a result of his own behavior and choices, which only leads to a negative feedback loop. Im not an armchair psychiatrist, I've just seen enough people with addiction to see that it's not always so black and white.
@@muscleman125 well said. It's never just black and white. Everyone likes to act like it is but more times than not things aren't so clear and it has to do with more than one person or party. That's not to say there is no causation for the way people treat Bam but some people definitely fuel an already burning fire with the things they do and say or the things they don't do at all. At the end of the day though you are your own responsibility. Distance yourself to get clean if you have to and don't get mad when people continue to live and do things without you 🤷🏼♂️ Life keeps going whether you are a participant or not.
Steve-O legitimately tortured a neighbour for complaining about noise in a rather expensive condo. Steve-O proceeded to exude the worst crackhead behaviours, including attempting to break through a wall and threaten the man. I wonder if Steve-O has ever tried to atone for this situation, where he legitimately became the biggest problem in someone’s life who he didn’t even know. He has never apologized, never attempted to rectify the damage he caused, and in fact he uses the story in his crappy Schaubian “comedy” special as a “look how cool I am” story. Steve-O will always be that crackhead loser with no shame or decency, until he confronts the horrific shit he’s guilty of. Guy gets sober, and now he’s judging others? He has a LONG way to go before he deserves to have an ounce of judgement in his voice.
@@BumpyHumpyDumpy it’s obvious you know nothing about steve-o and the person he is today, and are just blindly hating without doing a lick of research or critical thinking before writing that comment. he’s talked about trying to reconcile with his neighbor and make things right multiple times, but his neighbor refuses just because of how terrible and traumatizing it was for him to experience; and he himself said he doesn’t blame his neighbor for thinking that way and feels awful for it. steve-o has done a complete 180 and turned his life around, is an animal rights activist, an amazing spokesperson for drug addiction and rehabilitation, and a wonderful friend and overall great person. you can judge someone for shitty things they did in the past, but don’t turn a blind eye to how he’s changed, how he’s attempted to make past actions right, and to all the good he’s done recently.
Honestly this is how it ends up for many people who did lots of drug abuse during their youth. Many of them get on a completely different track and have a successful and clean life later on. He was young back then and grew up. Young people tend to do objectively stupid things but stop doing them once they're adult.
Damn, Steve-o kept it real. You can 100% tell he’s worked/working the steps. No bullshit, no confrontation for the sake of confrontation, but brutal honesty with someone he deeply cares about in the throws of addiction without telling Bam what to do in any way. Bravo, man. When Steve-o got clean, I thought “if he can do it and still be Steve-o, I can do it and still be Father Shrek.” Almost 5 years clean today and this guy was my first inspiration.
Two takeaways from this short clip: 1) Bam can’t be helped until he decides to take responsibility for his actions and acknowledge the fact that his self image and perspective on his relationship with drugs/alcohol are heavily distorted. He needs to trust in his loved ones characterization of those things until he gets clean and clears his head up. & 2) Steve-O has a real gift for tactful, constructive confrontation, and he cares about Bam deeply. It’s refreshing to see someone as sober and coherent as Steve-O gently hit Bam with a dose of reality because it’s clear he’s alienated everyone else in his life willing to do so.
Wow you really nailed it. Another thing to add is that it means even more coming from Steve O who’s been in that exact situation and knows the hell of addiction better than just about anyone in the crew. Him saying “it’s not cool anymore” means a lot more than someone who’s never been in that position saying it.
I had a friend that branded me a poser for leaving our local metal scene. No man, I left because a lot of guys graduated from booze and weed to coke and meth. You can tell the guys who got out are getting careers, looking at houses, having kids. And the guys who stayed in are still using, looking like 30 year old hot topic rejects.
Bam is still in a really bad place, he’s loaded af here and he’s still not taking accountability even though Steve-o is giving him every opening to do so, Steve-o is an insane example of how things can go incredibly right if you believe in yourself, I miss the old Bam and I don’t think he’s ever coming back 😢
Big up to Steve-O for turning his life around. You can see he has really grown as a person and I wish him the best moving forward. Hopefully Bam gets there eventually too.
Yup, I expected Steve o to be the one in and out of rehab; I remember him talking about what he went through to adopt a homeless dog he met. It's a shame how far bam has fallen after jackass and viva la bam, but cool to know Steve o keeps in touch with him
Bam refuses to take accountability for anything, haven’t you noticed? When anything goes wrong, it’s always something or someone else’s fault. From all Steve-O’s interviews with OTHER og jackass members, it’s a very stark contrast: the only one who hasn’t grown is Bam. If you can’t take accountability, you can’t be self introspective, which means you can’t change or grow because you lack the tools to even be aware of what needs changing. Simply being told from an outside source is seldom sufficient.
@@CrazyPeiceOfPie well yea no shit, you wanna see Someone have fun with endless amounts of drugs? Go do it yourself lol which is tue more Boring thing? Doing drugs until you die? As a recovered addict of 15 years I can’t express how amazing it is to see Steve-O become the person he is today. This shows that we all can get there if we work it. Thanks man, great stuff. And I hope everything works out for Bam in the long run.
This clip alone was enough for me. Steve-O, that wording was fucking fantastic. Spoke exactly how you should to someone in thst situation. Didn't attack him, you still stood by him even at his worst too which makes it all better
Steve-O had a different experience - he got to be totally wasted on the earlier Jackass movies and episodes and they all patted him on the back and gave him an intervention. What happened to Bam in Jackass Forever was greed - they didn't want to pay him the millions he would have gotten, so instead of patting him on the back and giving him an intervention they totally screwed him over.
@@user-uy3eq5hg1s if Stevo hadn't got clean the same thing would have happened to him. They gave him a chance and he took it. Bam sadly couldn't do the same
@@jsyvret472 thing is i really don't believe that to be true. infact, if bam's meltdowns hadn't been so public i reckon they'd have let him carry on tbh, because he's a big name and does bring in money. Thats the sad part of all this, you can see steve cares, but i genuinely believe knoxville and tremaine wouldn't have given a shit if it wasn't for the bad press on bam.
Man, Steve-O’s meekness here was on point. Strength under control. He didn’t blast Bam, nor did he let him get away without truth. It was the perfect mixture of being a good friend, holding someone accountable, and being confident .
As an alcoholic I completely see through Bam. He has changed but he is not ready to quit. I went through this myself. His relapse after this proves my point. You can feel it coming.
Some of us just can't stop destroying ourselves, like being in a mental time loop and you just can't seem to snap out of it no matter how painful and shameful it becomes, for a lot it leaves them feeling as if suicide is the only escape from the hell they are keeping themselves locked in
Yet it's deeper than alcohol dependency.. steve-o's closest friend didn't die at a younger age and he doesn't have to deal with such an immense loss.. not that it's an excuse for bam but it's a completely different battle.. alcoholism is only the tip of the iceberg for bam.. it's the cover up to all the other emotions he doesn't want to deal with.. like how he's drinking in hopes that when he's sober dunn dying will only be a bad dream and he'll have his friend again
What Steve-O did there was freaking amazing. Expressing his love and being honest to Bam when he drifts away into his delusional mind is brilliant and beautiful. Fantastic to see what a great person Steve-O became!
It's sad that Bam still can't accept any responsibility for his actions and we all know him saying "I didn't want to be in it" was complete bullshit or else he wouldn't have done and said everything he did since getting kicked out. Some times you just have to cut ties with people no matter how much you've invested in them. I wish him the best but I don't see him changing any time soon.
@@mikec4308 its just realistic. blame shifting and bitterness are going to lead him right back to the bottle, nobody wants to see that. he needs to get his head straight
steveo is so on point with his analysis of the situation, because he's dealt with it himself. seems like bam doesn't fully accept that yet but i hope he comes around to it.
Hopefully one day Bam will but he's still living in addiction. His brain and way of thinking is all f*cked up. He considers himself a victim and doesn't take a countably for missing that Zoom call. "Sipping a beer" come on man let me real, the idea of Bam enjoying a beer like a normal person is ridiculous. Bam drinks and uses to get wasted. Period.
Steve o was fairly young when he turned himself around. Bam is pushing 50, I doubt that he'll pull himself out at this point. Dunn would've been his voice of reason, but he's gone, which is why Bam let himself get to this point. I wish the guy best and hope that he gets out of his head, but I'm not holding my breath.
I feel like he has absolutely zero personal responsibility. Everything he says is an excuse and he doesn’t even realize it. Like “I couldn’t make the call because I didn’t have a computer and I was rushing to my friends house.” Well an adult would have planned for that ahead of time especially it being one of the most important calls of your life worth millions of dollars. It’s just really sad to see him still like this after a decade. I wish the best for him but I honestly think growing up with no responsibility made him like this. His parents did not help at all.
@@thorbeorn4295 Yea he basically blamed it on having to rush and the fact that he didn’t have a computer. It’s almost like he is incapable of saying “yea I should have planned ahead of time, it’s completely my fault.” But I feel like if you said that to him it would just be another excuse like “Well I couldn’t plan ahead of time because xyz.” It’s just one excuse after another if you watch his interviews. It’s very sad and obvious he doesn’t have the will to change yet. Steve O can see it he just doesn’t know how to say it straight out without making it seem like he’s attacking him. I don’t think he would have done any rehabs if he wasn’t absolutely forced to. He’s one of those “I can just shoot H on the weekends” kinda people 😂
Exactly bruh the last thing he said was "Now that it's over, I didn't wanna do it in the first place." You can't just change what you thought in the past and replace it with what you think NOW... This dude is going to get in more trouble and say that shit to the law.
@Mark Asread ikr, it went from him being a baby crying cuz he wants to be on the show and won’t let him , to.. him saying he didn’t want to be on it anyway ? That’s all that really happened still pathetic / sad for what I’m concerned
20 years ago I don’t think anybody thought Steve-o would be such a positive public influence the way he is today, almost even seen as a thought leader… what an impressive journey
I think it's more accurate to see as healing rather than "growing up". As wild as he is and as many mistakes as he can make, he holds a lot of pain that shouldn't be ignored. He's responsible for himself AND dealing with difficult things, both should be recognized.
@@DalesBadBug thats disheartening to hear. I know people in my life who have taken the same stance on situations similar to this. It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t seem like they will work things out. At the very least I hope Bam doesn’t die from an overdose or a drunken accident.
Cream cash rules everything around me. If there's another jackass and he's sober he'll be in it. Most everyone will eat some crow for millions of dollars.
As long as he gets sober they'll let him back in. Edit: they would forgive any possible wrong doing immediately if he was sober. They ain't in jackals 2 no more. I'm 36. Yall are in your 40s.
Bam was a separate entity to Jackass. Bam was a high end skater with a clothing line and serious bank while the others still had to make names for themselves. This meant Bam could do ANYTHING more extreme than the others and could be far more arrogant. He took some great pranks but he never had to worry about his status in the group. The group needed him in the beginning, now not so much.
This is actually so sad. I genuinely feel for Bam and I have such appreciation and respect for Steve-O. He obviously cares a lot about Bam and wants the best for him. I wish them both well 💚

As an addiction medicine therapist, I have to say Steve-O did a great job navigating Bam's struggle with addiction in the kindest way possible while not being enabling. That is a very tough line to walk
It was quite telling from Bams responses and excuses that he hasn't begun a journey he still clearly doesn't think he needs to take. I've not seen the full interview but I can't help but wonder what he actually processed during his year in rehab.
Steve's one of those friends everyone needs as he has a kind sensitive side but also he tells people the truth to people when the people don't want to hear it.. Especially with addiction. I think it's amazing he's left his addictions behind and now looks out for people who need help and will be honest even if the person in addiction don't want to hear it.. He really cares for his friends. People who struggle with alcohol or drugs who say they're clean when they're not are lying to themselves because you can tell a mile away if someones still using. x
As a recovering alcoholic-addict myself, you said it sooo well, Steve-O. No sugarcoating but also not attacking, just keeping it real. We can't dance around the dangerous things our peers in recovery say without being blunt. I got to see you two times on your Bucket List tour & sadly I didn't buy VIP tickets to meet you but if I ever do or if you ever read this comment, this biggest thing I wanna thank you for is for showing me and so many others that if you can do it, anyone can do it. So much respect for you dude. You are a great friend to Bam and it shows. There is a large part of me that does not feel like Bam has truly admitted that he is powerless over alcohol, the way he makes excuses for things and points fingers at others when we must take full accountability for the things we've done under the influence, and that worries me. Please, prove us all wrong Bam. You can do this. With love.
When I was young me and my brother sent a letter to Bam (all the way from Europe), with some questions and general praise for his work with Jackass and CKY. He sent back an envelope loaded with signed images, stickers and even a little hand written note to answer our questions. It meant so much to us that he took the time to do all that. Opening that letter has left such a good memory. It really sucks to see the state Bam is in. He needs to change, but based on how he looks at all the stuff that happened makes it clear he's not open to it.
@S G Wow.... The Jackass crew is a family. Those guys want to help Bam. They wanted him to be part of the latest movie. It came to a point where Bam's Jackass family couldn't ignore his self destructive addiction. They are trying to use tough love to give Bam a reason to turn his life around.
@S G doctor prescribed no? people can't just go cold turkey off of drugs and can potentially be harmful, and bam has potential mental health issues. Which is why certain medications are needed. If he didn't agree with the drugs that's up to bam to discuss with his doctors.
@@AtlisDe They caught him on Adderall or something small like that, and the contract explicated said no drugs. Kinda bogus if u ask me, he obviously was trying but a lot of people take Adderall
Crazy to think that SteveO became one of the most wise ppl off JA. He learned a ton from his situations. Even the way he asks questions. He didn't say Bam was a bad guy, he just asks questions that make the other person have to think and answer.
Steve-o handled this discussion so well, in such a mature and respectful way. I’m glad Bam has good people in his life looking out for him like Steve-o
Because he the only one that can fully say been there done that so he literally knows how it is. Makes him the most relatable one to bam and bam sorta connects with that. Making feel in company
unsurprisingly, bam is still struggling to accept the reality of the situation, because he sees it through his own experience and opinion. i can fully understand that and know it's going to take a lot more time for him to accept the greater perspective. this is all a new perspective for him to try and accept and i can tell he is still partially in defence mode from how he reacted at the end there with his denial about jackass.. that's ok though. he will own it one day. personal growth is never a quick thing. much love to you both bam and steve-o.
You hope so but it is hard to see, he seems incapable of taking responsibility for much of anything. I think the worst part seems to be his adderall use for his 'ADD', legal amphetamine addiction prescribed by so called 'professionals' for years on end is atrocious.
@@petecabrina Fuck off with that ableist shit, Adderall does help people that genuinely have ADHD, problem is people treat it as a recreational drug and lie to doctors to get it. For me Caffeine and Uppers do nothing to me and slow me down, that is the way someone who genuinely has ADHD reacts to these drugs. The only other treatment options for ADHD is atomoxetine or drugs like it, which are a SNRI (Brain Chemical inhibitors) that cause Nausea, Dizziness, Headache, Mood swings, Insomnia, Erectile Disfunction and Drowsiness. Also federally Adderall is restricted to 30 Pills every 30 days, so if someone is getting more than the Doctors aren't involved, someone is selling their prescriptions for money, which is a who other set of problems with our Healthcare system.
@@internet4543 bs they wanted him in the movie. He got hisself kicked then kept hisself from getting back in clearly. They care but tough love is what it takes. Just like they did with steve o years ago.
You can really tell how much Steveo cares for Bam in this clip. Even tho Bam clearly still has a very long way to go on his road to recovery, he’s obviously not ready to own up to his behavior that lead to where he is now, but kudos to steveo for even having him on. I really hope Bam gets the help he so desperately needs.
Great comment! You can see in bams face that he still doesn't want to accept the reality of the situation. Started the clip off with defending himself and then ended the clip saying "I didn't want to do it(jackass forever) in the first place". It's sad and frustrating to watch.
In other words you want Bam to take 100% of the blame when there are always two sides to every story. But let me guess you were physically present for every moment of this right? Give me a break. The Jackass guys absolutely screwed over Bam, they kept Steve-O around when he was totally wasted on set for earlier Jackass movies, but Bam wasn't from Big Brother Magazine, he came in as an outsider, so they were like nah screw him we'll save the millions we were going to pay him! People always want to think in absolutes, in black and white, but the truth is always more complicated and nuanced than that.
@@user-uy3eq5hg1s ummmm yeah I'd do the same thing, if the dude wasn't in the OG click and he came in as as outsider why would they stick their necks out for him and pay the dude money when he's breaking his contract. Am I genuinely the only one that realised he WAS in the new film? In the scene where they were playing the instruments on the running machine, he was there.
@@MegaHariboboy You're correct, but that was literally it. Apparently, they decided that particular bit was too good to sacrifice solely on account of Bam being in it. But you notice they drew as little attention as possible to the fact that he was. He would have been in so much more of the film (and credited/paid for doing so), had he just played his cards right. Who knows what else audiences missed out on because he couldn't do that?
I met Bam in 07 or 08. The band I worked for at the time was playing a gig where he was doing some meet and greets. He was really cool, super nice, everyone in his group were super friendly and chilled with us. I really hope he gets and stays clean.
Straight edge people are extremely cringe, and controlling. Exactly what that contract was. Jackass was about being messed up and doing crazy stunts. Which we all loved.
I don’t think Bam “didn’t want to be in the movie”. I think he’s trying to cope with the regret of his mistakes. I hope he gets well. He been through hell, I’d like to see him get to the other side.
Bam is clearly still in the midst of recovering… “I didn’t have a computer” is not a legit reason for missing a call and to even throw it out there as an excuse shows that he still has a long way to go.
Yeah he did not at all come across like he's out the other side yet. You can do a zoom call on your cell phone. To get tossed due to being an out of control alcoholic, then get wasted the night before and miss the meeting? That's a no brainer to be kicked out. I hope one day he can see it clearly.
He argued like a kid. He went from being mad he wasn't in the movie, to saying he never wanted to be in it anyway. Classic nonsensical childish argument. Pretty sad to see how far he's fallen considering how successful he was in his 20s. It never goes well when people try to continue that kind of party lifestyle well into their 30s and beyond.
Steve-O still being close and caring to Bam but still being blunt in his honesty about Bam's situation is great. I love who Steve-O has become. This type of shit means a lot more coming from him, considering what a ridiculous mess he was,, so it's great that he's not shying away from saying these things to Bam
Never in my life would i had ever predicted that steve o would become the voice of reason. He spent alot of years messed up on lord knows what, had an intervention, got himself clean, then came full circle and became an unofficial sportsperson for those that are in recovery. I never got into drugs, and didn't go too far with alcohol, but i have known ppl in my life that have struggled and couldn't get their life in order. It's awesome seeing steve o share his struggles and recovery. He keeps that knowledge in his mind that he can fall again, but takes it day by day and gives that hope to others that struggle. That kinda success means way more than money and fame.

I can't imagine how hard it must have been, and how you should really be proud of yourself. If you're anything like me, even after I quit it took a long time to actually appreciate what I was doing. I was sober for 8 months, but messed up for about 7 days while on vacation. By the end of my binge I realized there's absolutely no path leading to the happiness I spent so long trying to accomplish while sober. Trying to feel good in my own skin, this new normal, was just getting the hang of.. and I messed it up, but I refuse to let it sink me back into that dark void of drinking my anxiety/ problems away.. which ironically brought me there in the first place. Big ups, sorry for everything you've been through, but keep up the good work bro. You sound like a good man who knows his shit. 👍

There will be a time when "feeling okay with beeing sober" becomes "feeling great". Thats when you don't wanna go back. Thats when your brain works normal again. No crisis is permanently. There will be good times again.
As a recovering addict, this is exactly how you would talk to someone you know is still using. The slight agreement on the chaos followed by a grounding in reality is all you can do. Steve-o's doing amazing, but Bam is still lost in denial with all the finger-pointing.
Really love the way Steve-O interacted with Bam in this episode. I listened to it on the train home and I think he had a great diplomatic way of precisely naming Bam's problems and not downplaying them, yet not being super aggressively confrontational about it. You can clearly see that this is a man who's been there and knows what these things are like. He knows that if he'd just sit there bluntly and aggressively calling out any and all of Bam's shit he would probably shut down and not actually listen. It's clear that he genuinely cares for Bam and wants him to get better, but he also knows very well what measures you need to take to be able to stay sober and that some of Bam's shit just ain't cutting it right now. Good on Steve-O for doing this. With how much of a mess Bam has been, the easy thing would be to steer clear of him, not get involved and invite him once he's sure Bam has his shit together, but by doing this he shows his friend that he cares for him and is not gonna distance himself from him because of his struggles.

I'm still unsure why everyone else's "antics" are forgiven and laughed about. He's going through what many of them went through. Just because it's happening years later doesn't mean they're morally superior. That is the surface perceptions
Steve-O said it himself if you were listening: there simply came a point where it just wasn’t cute anymore and they decided to get real. There reached a divergence in the road between continuing the same direction or sobering up, and Bam chose to stay on the same old path and ended up getting left behind. They shouldn’t be expected to halt their growth and sobriety on account of Bam’s unwillingness. Just because they do wacky stunts doesn’t mean that they should also have to trash their bodies. But I do agree that it can’t simply be called Bam’s “antics” anymore; it would now come from more of a place of acting out.
Bam needs to really just step outside his body for a couple days and look around.. you’ve done enough to make yourself where you need to be that you can still enjoy it without having to be that person all the time, much less getting wrecked all the time …. He could have so much more eventually hopefully he does
@@joshhponce6768 Right, Bam still thinks it's 2002 where he is partying with his dudes and getting wasted like dumb teens. He needs to cut the bs and get a job and grow up.
Bam is like a spoilt kid! He’s so used to getting his own way that he now expects it to continue despite his actions and behaviour. “I didn’t wanna be in it anyway” is the equivalent of taking your football home because your losing. Grow up Bam!
You can still hear it in his throat. He either has wet brain, or he’s hung over. I can’t stand alcoholics. I grew up with them. They are habitual liars and cowards. Bam just needs to go away at this point. I had hoped, gave him benefit of the doubt, but at this point he’s just giving the finger to anybody who cares about him...
That was my thought too, even after a year being clean he is still making excuses for this and that. Like own up to your shit dude. If he isn't in any safe spaces such as halfway house over the next couple months/year he will be back in the ringer
@@superkoopatrooper4879 those people that your talking about are the yes-men that he doesnt need around, they'd just be enabling him. He needs sober people around that call him out on his shit and tell it like it is. I watched this interview when it came out and the way he is acting isn't how a recovering addict should be behaving.
It's a nice sentiment, but in all reality, your hands are bound with hardcore addicts. Luckily I'm just a typical caffeine/nicotine addict, but I've had too many people in my life that were on much harder substances. You can try your damnedest to help, but in the end, it's all on the addict to decide... to get better or not. I wish we could stop them from getting sick, but the truth is a lot of them choose it.
@@x8jason8x Yeah you have no idea what you're talking about. When someone can't rationalize their decisions to any point where they're hurting themselves, stepping back with your hands in the air saying "well, it's their own choice to be like this" is just a cowardly cop-out to try to self-preserve YOUR choice to not be there for them as a friend. Be better than that if your friend needs help.
@@davidmetzler6670 Nah man. He's right. You can drive them to hospitals and rebab but if they don't want it for themselves, they'll just lie and say they're better to get out and start taking drugs again. There's really no way to help people like that unless you plan on locking them in a cage or something lol. They gotta decide for themselves that they want to get better.
@@davidmetzler6670 he knows exactly what he’s talking about.. bams “friends” are killing him everyday. They shouldn’t even talk to him. Putting him on RUclips is enabling him to not stop. Coming from an ex heroin addict of 10 years.. nobody could make me do anything it was up to me to change.
He hasn't even started his journey of recovery. He doesn't want to recover. He wants to stay loaded crying about Ryan and thinking the world is against him. He isn't making efforts to get better. He had to wear sunglasses during this video call. What does that tell you? If he shows he wants to make an effort then I will wish him luck but as long as he keeps being a spoiled brat who keeps denying his problem, let him spiral out of control. Nothing will change unless he wants it to change. Unfortunately I think this only ends one way. Eventually he will go too far, end it, OD etc. This probably ends more like Amy Winehouse than Steve-O.
Oh please, he’s not recovering, did you even watch the video? He’s still making excuses, he’s slurring his words, and straight up lying to Steve-O. “I didn’t even wanna be in it anyways, I’m much happier not being in it.” That’s a very obvious lie.
Hopefully not, pretty much all his friends and entire family have enabled his debaucherous lifestyle and substance abuse for years. You ask me this is the first time Ive seen anyone close to Bam publicly confront him on his addictions. Bam needs to cut ties with the people and the life he used to live and find a new support system. Steve-O and some of the jackass crew are partially responsible for the situation he is in today anyway although ultimately Bam’s own choices led him down this path. Its sad and pathetic.
No he clearly knows bam is wrong. But its his friend. Its why the tell tale line is "even if i entertain that" or however he put it. But hes not going to attack his friend when his friend needs help. Theres no other message to his statement besides "bro you fked up and its all on you." He just said it much more nicely because hes that bridge
You can believe more than one side is wrong at different points or not completely all at fault for multiple parts of the issues. Choosing one side in something that's complicated in many ways isn't the intelligent or right way to look at things. Nothing is absolute on the situation and that things on all sides could have been handled better. Bam going nuts publicly was what turned people on him after he spent years of his life in a complete downfall. I personally wouldn't watch jackass if it wasn't for cky and skateboarding knowing the cky films and everything before jackass was on MTV. Most of us watched for bam and his cky crew. We ended up enjoying the others as well but bam was the true reason most watched. We are all the same who hated seeing his downfall even when it started pre Ryan Dunn accident. But I can flat out say a lot of us still feel bam did wrong and handled it wrong and at the same time he has points where the other side is wrong and though I feel he's on the wrong pretty much well over 75% It doesn't change the fact he does have real grievances and everything. A lot of us just really wished he took to airing those grievances and issues in a way that wasn't self destructive and made him look completely insane even when he was in the right. It just sucks to see how much has happened to everyone involved that it became a complete shitshow that ruined friendships and mental health issues getting worse.
Bam is just one of those types that will never change. He's beyond help, He's gotten himself in the spot he wants to be and he just said He wants/wanted no part in Jackass any longer. that's cool. Bam, do you man. You're grown, you've had a good run anyway, you're set up for life. enjoy and be safe. maybe one day you'll put the booze down.
Got a buddy that has the exact personality, never takes accountability and blames the world for all his problems. Had to distance myself, too toxic to be around.
Exactly. He won't change because he doesn't think he has to change or want to change (one or the other, or both). Nothing anyone else can do for him - he has to come to that point himself, and with his mentality, it's not likely to happen anytime soon. Even the Zoom call thing - you can do that on your phone. You don't need a computer. Just another excuse that falls flat.
Everything takes time who knows it may take years months days for him to realize i just hope he finds help bc shit if steve o can be sober so can bam lol

Yeah, a lot of deflection. Saying he's better off not being in Jackass 4 is his way of justifying his shitty behavior. The fact he got so mad when he got kicked out to begin with and gets hot talking about it here proves he still cares. Ya he did rehab for a year, but it wasn't for HIMSELF. I'm hoping this sticks but to me he doesn't 100% committed. I really hope he proves me wrong tho, nobody likes to see their childhood heroes fall.
he just needs to come clean, tell people he’s not ready or having a hard time, he’s acting like he’s ready and he got it figured out but he’s really making it much harder for himself, he should embrace his problem. It’s insane. If you asked ANYONE on earth in 2002, who they thought would be living and thriving and healthy in 2022 from Jackass… it wouldn’t be Steve-O. But mad respect to him for keeping his life on track and finding ways to entertain without having to risk his life or be on drugs. Love to see it honestly.
I’m glad you stood by Bam. Even though he was self destructing, you knew he needed his friend the most in that time. It says a lot about your character. I’m glad you also are able to bring him to realizing that not everything in the moment that he thought was happening was the reality of it.
Despite the whacked out shit Bam did to Jeff Tremaine, I still think he has a valid point. Once he fell from grace as MTV's golden boy, they treated him like a drug addicted liability. When he was raking in the millions their lips were sealed. Stop trying to justify talking points that are used by these corporations and look at the facts. Kicking Bam out of a franchise he helped build was wrong. His cast-mates not standing by him and accepting the new-normal of a Bam-less Jackass was wrong. All for the money? Like seriously? Stop pretending this is about helping him. Its about money, and anyone who is trying to pedal some other perspective has ulterior motives i.e. money and public image.
"Get you back in the movie..." Like Steve o, if you really truly believed what you say, you would have stepped down from the Jackass Forever project to stand in solidarity with Bam. You of all people. Who was in a "free-fall" life or death situation during the making of the series and the show, and even Wild Boyz. Now that you are sober, you look down on these people with the eyes that once judged you and as someone who was a big fan of the franchise, this new dystopian, PC, corporate Jackass is not something I want to support.
@@TheWhiteSlaveDave here’s the problem with sober Steve O. He just isn’t all there. It’s quite obvious. It’s sad what happened to Bam I just researched this cause I am watching Mel Brooks History of The World part 2 and they do a skit where Rasputin is Johnny Knoxville and I was disappointed to not see Bam Margera. I know he has had his spotlight for being a drunk but I never knew the relationship between them all was this sparse. I think we all can say when Ryan passed something just flipped in Bams head and it is awful to see his legacy dragged through the dirt. These guys were such a figure in my life I can’t explain it. Mainly cause I skated and Bams house was a free for all and I knew a few kids from HS who actually went to the house like just showed up. So yeah. That being said Steve O I can’t watch this interview. You talk way too slow and I understand you are trying to be compassionate but man cmon. It’s 2023. This world is insane and we have a sober Steve O trying to make ammends? Bro know your place just saying.
I feel bad for Bam because he's still not in a good place as far as sobriety goes. He double talked during the whole interview, took responsibility for nothing, was obviously bitter about the decision that had to be made due to his own behavior, stated many things implying that it was an unwarranted action to do so based on what others had done before, and, ultimately says that he didn't want to do it anyway. He still needs a lot of help, or he will do whatever he wants, and justify his choices based on somebody else's behavior.
Yeah, especially with the "I didn't want to do it in the first place", referring to being in Jack Forever. Dude, Bam...you had legit meltdowns over NOT being in the movie. He needs to grow up.
Sadly I don’t think he’s ever going to get 100% completely clean and sober and if he does he’ll probably blow up from a heart attack from gaining more weight. I don’t think he’ll ever get honest with a sponsor and work the 12 steps to the best of his ability’s. If he does (anybody can do it ) he’ll be comfortably clean and sober and he can give his glutton food addiction to God as well
As a young kid in the uk, Bam was one of my hero's, way way back in the cky days, if he could do all this then why was I sitting on my arse doing nothing. I dont regret any of it either, you helped shape a great part of my life. Now I feel for you dude, when the rest of us were ready to slow down, you carried on. I wish you the best man, just know, we do still care and worry. You don't need the shit no more, you need your skateboard, go home and tell your mum and dad you love them and have dinner.

I'm amazed at your candor Steveo. You're really great at talking to him in a way where he takes ownership of his past and he's actually being reasonable.
@Hesh Hesherson sure but no one wants to see him flounder around in public or in the media. Yet here we are. He’s still very relevant somehow and it’s sad. People want him to improve.
What I love about steve-o is it doesn't matter who it is from his best friend to a complete stranger hes brutally honest and will call out people on their bullshit especially with addiction
Bam was a huge idol for me growing up. I’m a recovering alcoholic and know how hard it can be. You feel like the whole world is out to get you and you genuinely believe you are not doing anything wrong. Accepting responsibility for your actions is a hard pill to swallow. Not a lot of people see that until it’s too late. I hope bam sees that before it’s too late. At this point no one can help him besides himself. He’s even lucky SteveO talks to him.
Bam is on a different level of alcoholic , he's rich and doesn't really have to anything responsibilities when he gets up from bed . He's been drinking for 20 years and for the past 10-15 years or so that's all he's done as soon as he woke up until he passed out again to repeat the cycle . Also having your home be a 24x7 party spot for people twenty years younger than you doesn't help as well . It's amazing that he's still alive to be honest as the the dude is so brain damaged that he now has a permanent drunken slur that will never go away .
tbh bam saying that he’s glad he wasn’t in jackass 4 sounds about as genuine and truthful as danger erin fronting like he knew about the terrorist taxi prank the entire time. really sad to see, i hope someday bam truly turns a corner on that cuz it’s so obvious how much he’s still hurting from it
Thank you for talking about this and being open and honest with your friends/family/fans. All of you that are involved in this zeitgeist of culture and being open about it really sheds a ton of hope into the world.
I'm so glad you made this episode. While I don't believe that he "didn't want to do it in the first place" after seeing all of those wild instagram posts he made, I do think there's a part of him that knew that an environment like this is just the worst place for a guy like him to be in. It must be such a trigger and I'm glad we can at least see this conversation in full.
I get the impression he simply said "didn't want to do it in the first place" as a way to end a line of questioning where the only real answer is to admit you've got a problem. I'm sure he believed what he was saying but it's a defence mechanism to avoid dealing with something that's still very traumatic for him.
I'm actually really glad I bought the movie(preorder) and didn't "boycott" to be on Bam's side. I was thinking about doing that initially when I first heard about all this BS and mostly it was because I thought steve-o was being pretty hypocritical. Hearing this story now, I think I completely changed my stance so I am glad I went ahead and supported the jackass guys in this latest endeavor
Bam's main issue is the way that he was raised. No boundaries, and now he is incapable of accepting blame. He always has an excuse. I hope he can get past his issues.
You know what Bam said was true. The Jackass culture was Drugs and Booze for a LONG time but eventually middle age and responsibility came calling on everybody but Bam refused to read that memo despite becoming a father himself. Props to Steve-O for doing this, it just goes to prove his long suffering kindness. 👍
"I'm pissed I wasn't in the movie, and the reasons I wasn't in it are bullshit." "You were so close to getting back in and you f'd it up for yourself." "Meh, everything for a reason. I'm glad I wasn't in it." I'm glad Steve-O is calling out Bam's bullshit. More people need to, and more people should have over the last 20 years. Bam is a hell of a creative talent in the world of music, skateboarding, and comedy, as proved by the projects he led and developed, but jeezus he needed someone to keep him in check. And no, even Ryan Dunn didn't/couldn't do that.
The remorse on Bam’s face as he’s processing the consequences of his actions is pretty hard to watch. I really hope he can find some kind of happiness.
Man I was 11 years old when the jackass show started and I see these guys as friends of mine or even family. I love them so much and I wish nothing but the best for them because these group of people in front and behind the camera really went through a lot just to entertain complete strangers. Your fans love you so much you guys don't even know!
"I'll entertain some of that" is a very mature and the right thing to say regarding all circumstances. Steve has really evolved and has shown the world you can do this and do it right.
If you listened to bam…. It would seem like this is all BS.
I can’t tell if Bam is getting screwed- or if he screwed himself.
Self
I love how steveo doesn’t let bam get away with his lies, but still shows love and compassion.

Two takeaways from this short clip:
1) Bam can’t be helped until he decides to take responsibility for his actions and acknowledge the fact that his self image and perspective on his relationship with drugs/alcohol are heavily distorted. He needs to trust in his loved ones characterization of those things until he gets clean and clears his head up.
&
2) Steve-O has a real gift for tactful, constructive confrontation, and he cares about Bam deeply.

I really appreciate Steve-O being so candid and honest with Bam.
Exactly, I'd plan that shit 2 weeks ahead and have 5 alarms on max volume telling me when exactly to get ready.

I think it's more accurate to see as healing rather than "growing up". As wild as he is and as many mistakes as he can make, he holds a lot of pain that shouldn't be ignored. He's responsible for himself AND dealing with difficult things, both should be recognized.

Steve-O can do that because he's been there in those shoes. If some random "expert" said the same thing Bam would tell him to go pound sand.
Well he's been through it, he knows what it's like
Steve's one of those friends everyone needs as he has a kind sensitive side but also he tells people the truth to people when the people don't want to hear it..
With love.
Yes, everything you said, yes!
Congrats on putting up a fight against your addiction. I hope you can keep it up. Best wishes to you on your journey.

I love Steve-O's arc. He's holding himself accountable and his friends. Still cool ass Steve-O, but evolved. It's great to see!
unsurprisingly, bam is still struggling to accept the reality of the situation, because he sees it through his own experience and opinion. i can fully understand that and know it's going to take a lot more time for him to accept the greater perspective. this is all a new perspective for him to try and accept and i can tell he is still partially in defence mode from how he reacted at the end there with his denial about jackass.. that's ok though. he will own it one day. personal growth is never a quick thing. much love to you both bam and steve-o.

Really impressed with Steveo's approach here
Bam is like a spoilt kid! He’s so used to getting his own way that he now expects it to continue despite his actions and behaviour. “I didn’t wanna be in it anyway” is the equivalent of taking your football home because your losing. Grow up Bam!
yep sad to say
once he realized he had to be sober to do it he no longer wanted to do it.
This comment is actually disgusting.
Still with the “sipping on a beer” nonsense.
@@kamb8s why? It’s completely true
Yeah, Bam is beyond repair. This didn't give me any confidence he's ever going to improve.
@@beardybeardy9176 I hear you, a year is not that long, give him some more time I hope
@@superkoopatrooper4879 those people that your talking about are the yes-men that he doesnt need around, they'd just be enabling him. Steve-0 is a legitimately good guy for helping his friend go through this
I'll never forget that Steve-O said, "Friends don't let friends get sick." I took that with me forever.
Everything thats happened aside, its good to see Bam. Hope he continues his journey of recovery surrounded by friends and family.
I was happy to see him again up until the point where I saw that he hadn’t grown any since. Now, I’m sad to see it 😔
He hasn't even started his journey of recovery.
He won't. He needs a therapist along with sober living. Dude is convinced he's a victim.
Oh please, he’s not recovering, did you even watch the video? He’s still making excuses, he’s slurring his words, and straight up lying to Steve-O. “I didn’t even wanna be in it anyways, I’m much happier not being in it.”
That’s a very obvious lie.
Feel crazy bad for Bam but seeing Steve-O so grounded and clear headed makes me smile so much.
Steve is walking the line on this one. I can tell he cares about everyone and doesn't want to choose
Maybe he thinks of it as a stunt, lol.

He just said it much more nicely because hes that bridge
Bam saying “I didn’t have a computer” seems like a pretty legitimate and realistic excuse. I mean who can find a computer with only 24hrs notice..??
This is very powerful seeing you guys talking so good and friendly to each other with all the stuff you guys have been through
Mad respect for Steve-O for still showing love to Bam but still keeping it real
Bam is just one of those types that will never change. He's beyond help, He's gotten himself in the spot he wants to be and he just said He wants/wanted no part in Jackass any longer. that's cool. Bam, do you man. You're grown, you've had a good run anyway, you're set up for life. enjoy and be safe. maybe one day you'll put the booze down.
why are you so tight?

I think as an ex-addict you see that he´s not really ready to change and see his own faults.. Doesn´t look good to me
Yeah, a lot of deflection.

Yup!

Pills are easier to swallow with a 🍺 🍻
Wise words, good luck on your journey
Bam is on a different level of alcoholic , he's rich and doesn't really have to anything responsibilities when he gets up from bed . He's been drinking for 20 years and for the past 10-15 years or so that's all he's done as soon as he woke up until he passed out again to repeat the cycle . Also having your home be a 24x7 party spot for people twenty years younger than you doesn't help as well . It's amazing that he's still alive to be honest as the the dude is so brain damaged that he now has a permanent drunken slur that will never go away .

The new movie was kinda shitty
Bam's main issue is the way that he was raised. No boundaries, and now he is incapable of accepting blame. He always has an excuse. I hope he can get past his issues.
Exactly no accountability

You know what Bam said was true. The Jackass culture was Drugs and Booze for a LONG time but eventually middle age and responsibility came calling on everybody but Bam refused to read that memo despite becoming a father himself. Props to Steve-O for doing this, it just goes to prove his long suffering kindness. 👍
Yeah that's reality. The rest of them moved on with their lives and settled down.
"I'm pissed I wasn't in the movie, and the reasons I wasn't in it are bullshit."
"You were so close to getting back in and you f'd it up for yourself."
"Meh, everything for a reason. I'm glad I wasn't in it."
I'm glad Steve-O is calling out Bam's bullshit.
