I commented this but want to say it here while it's early in hopes you'll read it and mention it to Jazza. Since y'all are close and I think it's a good thing to think about. As someone who uses alcohol markers constantly but it's so expensive and often doesn't have the features I need! I really hope jazza makes his markers in the future even as their own individual unit. I personally have yet to find an good alcohol marker that has the two things I want like that. Which is brush tip and a micro NIB not liner. Like seriously I would only buy his line as a furry artist for my works because of that feature alone.
What a ride! This was SUCH a fun project, I really wanna try shrink plastic now! And thank you SO much for all your kind words, you're amazing Jackie! I'm so grateful for your kind support!!
I've wanted to see you use it for forever. I haven't tried this trick myself yet but apparently after you shrink them the first time you can set them on top of each other and actually melt them together into a single piece making it layered.
@@kristinaslocum2044 I make my own medic alert bands in all different colors with it- while the sheet is still hot and malleable I curve them over a wine bottle to get a wrist shaped curve (like the real ones have).
@@kristinaslocum2044 Oooo, I like that. I am into painting minis, making dioramas etc. I have some cheap shrink plastic and somehow never thought about making stuff for these types of projects with it. Your comment has me thinking about possible applications… even shrinking works of art like Jackie did to make tiny stained glass windows (with perhaps either wire or black puffy paints (applied with a tiny diameter opening) to make the ‘lead’ divisions)). Thanks for jump-starting my imagination! :)
When I was a kid it was called Shrinky Dink, and we would make ornaments with it. I remember having lots of fun with it, this was in the mid - late 70's by the way.
Shrinky Dink is the brand of shrink plastic (it was the only brand available for many years), but most of us just call them all Shrinky dinks. They usually sold preprinted plastic sheets in themes back then (they still do), and it was tougher to find the blank sheets. Now lots of companies make shrink plastic in blank sheets of different colors, thickness and textures. Black shrink plastic makes some really nice jewelry.
@@tawnyew They still exist. I've done Shrinky Dinks with the kids at work, but also did Valentine's shrink plastic (I still call "off brand" shrink plastic as shrinky dinks) with the kids just yesterday. I use a craft heat gun instead of putting them in the oven and the kids love to watch it shrink.
I work with shrink plastic with the grandkids... Usually, you use markers or colored pencils and bake at 250f, they'll curl then flatten. It only takes a matter of moments and if they don't completely flatten you can lay a smooth metal pan on them while still warm. Oh, and if you layer smaller cutouts on the larger ones they will stick together. Cool for 3D stuff.
@@Amira_Phoenix in my experience, with other brands, it’s generally too thick for scissors but can be sanded. Wet sanding is my preferred way. Or it can be sawn but can crack if not supported properly and might warp a little bit if it gets too hot.
@@Amira_Phoenix Stick with sanding. It shrinks down in length and width but gets thicker and very hard. As hard as the plastic used for door handles and such.
I appreciate the fact that you take the time to review other ppl's craft kits in full detail knowing that you're in pain sitting there. Hopefully this didn't make your back hurt too much. Cyber hugs Jackie 🤗
I've been making tons of pins with shrink plastic, it's so versatile and easy to use! To keep a lot of details and even get a 3d effect, you can use the line work on the unsanded shiny side, let dry and then flip to the sanded side to color. Markers, sharpie etc works generally better on the smooth side, as it doesn't bleed and run into the little crevices 😊 if you want to add resin to seal and protect your masterpiece, make sure to use a layer of mod podge or spray adhesive beforehand, as resin doesn't stick particularly well to shrink plastic and will lift off after time. Hope that is helpful to someone 😊✌️😘
Definitely take note on packaging. When I got my Not Another Crap Kit there was a huge hole in the back of the box because it was just put in a shipping bag 😕. Thankfully nothing inside was damaged but I wish I could have kept the box. Also I agree with the comment about make up. I'd much rather spend the money on craft & art supplies 😊

You have no idea how happy I was to see an art video. Fidget toys are fine & interesting but there's something MAGICAL that happens when Jackie makes art or even adds her artistic flair to stuff like candy floss machines where she tests weird flavored stuff & crazy art kits she tries & finds ways to improve them or make them work. I have a very low income so sometimes I gotta go with the less expensive fun kits for my son & it's nice to know how I can either avoid flops, figure out ways to make them work or on the very rare side of cheap craft kits actually find one that is Jackie approved just as it is.
Back in the 70’s crisp packets were made from shrink plastic. We used to make all sorts of jewellery from them. Edited to add, usually with modern shrink plastic, if you use alcohol markers, the colours intensify when the plastic is shrinked.
We used to do the same with crisp packets in the 90's too made miniature crisps just for the funs I remember holding them with tongs against my sister's electric lounge fire...so bad but it worked haha
I actually liked the Hades & Persephone image MORE after the shrinking - it needed that extra saturation level to truly work imo! The stag was amazing both ways. Great work Jackie and extra credit to Jazza for the art supplies box! 😃

I did a moth once on shrink plastic full size and spend sooooo much time colouring it in with gradients and details. And when it was shrunk the colour intensified and the gradients and details were lost. That one was done with coloured pencils in a lot of layers . This video gives me inspiration to find my shrink plastic again and make something

I love shink plastic, but it can really warp! I've found that 'shrinky-dink' brand shrink plastic tends to warp less than other brands I've tried. You can also do this with any plastic container that has a number six in the recycle symbol on it. Lots of fast food containers are made of this. In my experience shrink plastic is great at keeping tiny details no problem. I find color pencil (even w lots of layers) on sanded plastic looks gorgeous - since the colors intensified as it shrinks
Hello Jackie! I just want to say I appreciate you and love your videos! They often help me with my insomnia due to my EDS-pains. Your videos mean more than you know ❤️
I‘ve been experimenting with shrink plastic for DnD minis and in my experience, the best way to get flat non-warped pieces is to get them out of the oven with the baking sheet underneath and then put another sheet and a couple of heavy books on top. This way the pieces can‘t distort when you get them out of the oven and any residual wobbliness is pressed away by the books when it‘s still warm. I also noticed that the baking paper made the pieces extra smooth so you could probably experiment with structured surfaces to give the pieces some interest. Also, I‘ve found it incredibly helpful to take a bigger piece of shrink plastic (lika an a5 size), draw a 1x1 cm grid on it and then bake it so I have a reference for how big I have to draw before baking to get a certain size figure at the end.

Hi Jackie, in the UK we call this Shrinkies, the sheets come in many colours as well as clear & frosted. I use to heat mine in the oven but I now use a craft heat gun (it looks like a hair dryer) & a baking tray. When I’ve finished shrinking the plastic I flatten it with a acrylic block.. I quite often stamp images to colour & then shrink. You can use most plastic, instead of the special sheets. The way it works is when plastic is made into shapes, it’s stretched & when we heat it up, it shrinks back to its original size.
I'm really excited that he brought this box back out. Sadly couldn't afford it last year. Now hopefully off to order more art supplies I can't use! Woot!
I remember I used to have a Shrinky Dink maker thing growing up (It might still be at my parents place honestly) and at first I had issues with it but once I got the hang of it it was pretty fun.
I love this idea! I’ve worked with shrink plastic a bit and you can try tracing with the liners on the smooth/shiny side then flipping the plastic and coloring on the texture/frosted side and the image comes out way cleaner after shrinking :)
Can definitely see jazz importance in your editing for this video and it's so great it's like Jackie but even more Jackie that's great seeing you being so comfortable and doing whatever you feel like
I looooooove shrink plastic but at the same time I hate plastic in general lmfao. I'm so torn. I always save every scrap of shrink plastic to make super tiny charms, I fill little jars with custom charms and seed beads when I have enough.
Huge mood Jackie, I love the smell of fresh art and craft supplies, it makes me so happy. Just the scent of new pencils and clay, the smell of a fresh sketchbook. Just awesome.
Well done, my dear, you managed a tricky presentation quite well. Personally, I hope you encourage Jazza to keep such a state of the art kit in continuous production. But, now that you have explored shrink plastic, I would love to see you take it to your own next level.
My experience with shrink plastic is that it did actually work well but shrank A LOT (more than it claimed) and was quite expensive. Also the colours became more concentrated and darker so had to start out with more washed out colours than i wanted in the final piece
Happy to catch you in realish time~~ I want you to know how great it is to hear you being you~~never doubt that you are a SUPASTAAAA!! I'll be here, every time, lovin' yer shows! Thank You from the bottom of my salty heart. I save your shows up for a treat to watch on my days off.
I don't know if you will see this jackie but one tip after baking the plastic sheets is to use a book or something flat and heavy on them while they are still warm! It will flatten them perfectly. I used alot of these in the past and it worked so well😊 I enjoyed the video alot!
I use it to make myself cute cartoony jewelry, just yesterday I made myself two sets of bat related earrings, a pair of lemon pie and a pair of strawberry milk carton earrings ☺️, my favorite pair I made is a van Gogh starry night earring set I still get so many compliments on them to this day ❤️
Interesting! I've tested these type of materials on shrink plastic before and I found alcohol ink didn't layer on my shrink plastic so I did my big piece only in coloured pencils. I wanted the shiny side to be the display side so I worked light to dark. If you do your highlights last they're not going to show through on the shiny side as much because you put that darker colour down first.
Another thing to check when testing materials on shrink plastic is whether or not theyll smear or flake off after shrinking. You can also use uv resin to 'dome' them afterwards for extra protection (depensing on how colours react to the resin).
Jackie, Been watching your videos for several months now. Now, in no way, shape, or form do I have any artistic ability. I just love watching your videos, your little comedic moments make me laugh. I've really needed a good laugh especially the past couple of months with some health issues arising. Thank you, and your Sister, for helping make my days better.
My husband just bought me Jazza's set as a surprise gift after we watched this video last week. I can't wait for it to arrive so I can try it out. I never get to be artsy enough.
I think the one with the Buck and the lighter purple on the trees actually looks really good, it adds to the light coming in from the trees and showing a bit of white. Both are amazing!
Jackie, Holy Carp! I love you. You are my favorite crafter. Also thank you for introducing me to graveyard loon. You two are the only crafters that I religiously when your videos come out.
I actually use printable shrink plastic to make charms of digital art a lot, and have had tons of success! There's different textures and opacities that are fun to play with, and it's kind of magical to see a physical piece made with digital art. 😊
Shrinkie Dinks! I loved these as a kid and really enjoyed them as an adult too. My main irritation is how it curls up on itself if you make designs with lots of points. I found using a heat tool easier to control the curling vs the oven. But that’s it. Also, you can get this gloss type product that is clear (diamond glaze or something) that I used for keychains to give them a shiny look on both sides, and it was amazing! Glitter markers were also great and a glitter glue afterwards to pop some details. I always prefered the frosted stuff to the straight plastic.
Yes, Jazza is one of the most amazing artists ever, he inspires me as much as you are... I know it is childish dream, but I really want to make collab with you, it probably will not happen. Remember that you are amazing. I am sending salty luv from Slovakia.
I used to make little shrink plastic pins by gluing little pinbacks on them. They were cute, but man were they FINICKY and I used sharpie and despite them being permanent ink, after I shrunk them they'd still smear so I had to put a spray varnish on them. Tedious, but I did have fun!
I remember doing shrink art with my older cuzzins in the late 70s early 80s when I was waaaay too young to understand/appreciate it. Have recently found this art form again and am so excited. Haven’t had bad outcomes much…. A couple learning experiences but. So. Much. Fun.

I would LOVE a reusable box for kits like these! It would be good for the environment PLUS It would make it easier to travel with it so you and friends can craft together! Omg… a party craft kit would be awesome! Making a mini mold of your original and stuff with keychains!! That would be so cool ❤️
Good idea! I watched shrinking on RUclips, but never actually tried it. The deer one was the one I was hoping you would pick, I'm glad you did. Both turned out well.
This video is so exciting for me Bc I finally got to order one of Jazza’s sets and I CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON IIIIIIIT!! Seeing you dig through it and show us how awesome it really is, is making it so much worse 😂😂
actually, semi transparant is the way to go in my opinion. because they are sanded the color sticks to it better and when you use them in combination with one of those cheap lightboxes it works incredibly well. Heat guns are also amazing with shrink plastic. you have far more control over your piece. just make sure you put the cut out art on an oven save tray/tin/bowl and gently flatten them with a smooth flat item when they are still warm.
Im actually very impressed! I like the shiney sides better. Lol but cool! I am an artist who has spent hours drawing really tiny and caused a lot of pain and strain for a few projects. So this is awesome to know that you found stuff that works
Small thing I have found doing shrink plastic. If you put your outlines on the smooth side of the plastic, but use sharpee, then color in from the other side, it really pops when they are small!
I’ve been using shrink plastic for years to make jewellery. I use the printable ones on my ink jet printer, no colouring in needed, works well. Always do a ruler to see how much they shrink as every make is different.
Jackie and Jazza, why must you make such great content and art supplies?! I kinda want Jazza's art supplies now. I've already got the NerdECrafter box, which is sitting in the cupboard until I have the time and nerves to try it out. With an entire tub of craft kits, I have a problem. US$30 seems like a LOT for shipping, but to get that hefty package to Australia it's actually a decent deal.
I will admit I was actually quite surprised with how both shrink pieces turned out! Much like you, I had thought the more detailed one may begin muddling during the shrinking process, but lo and behold we were proven wrong! I think it might have to do with the quality of supplies used. The markers provided by Jazza were very well formulated so I would like to say that the ink behaved much better on the shrink plastic surface than some others. It could also be that the shrink plastic type in itself just help up better as well... Ack, I really wish I could get Jazza's set! But sadly, I am running out of room for not only my books, but also my art supplies! XD

I love it so much when you & Jazza boost/review eachother & love the way all you folk in the art community uplift & encourage eachother 🥰
The more simple the design the better. Crayons, pencil crayons and sharpes work good.
I love that you've done a project with Jazza's set. Valuable info.
I don't know if you will see this jackie but one tip after baking the plastic sheets is to use a book or something flat and heavy on them while they are still warm! It will flatten them perfectly. I used alot of these in the past and it worked so well😊 I enjoyed the video alot!
I use it to make myself cute cartoony jewelry, just yesterday I made myself two sets of bat related earrings, a pair of lemon pie and a pair of strawberry milk carton earrings ☺️, my favorite pair I made is a van Gogh starry night earring set I still get so many compliments on them to this day ❤️
Can we appreciate that Jackie cares about us America grains as i have no clue how much a kilo ways
This is such a cool idea!! I never would've thought to try that with shrink plastic. I feel like it opens up for so much more creativity.
Jackie, you've earned my trust at this point, so I went and threw Jazza a follow. :) I'll hunker down at some point and do a binge of his videos.
Jazza is an amazing person. I love this guy to bits
@@nerdecrafter :) Then I'm guessing I'll enjoy what I watch. Thank you. ^_^
The second pair look so cute on you! 🥰
Never even heard of shrink plastic. Looks cool might have to try it.
I used stringed plastic. Works really fine...
The red glaces are beautiful...
So happy to see a craft video again❤
My husband just bought me Jazza's set as a surprise gift after we watched this video last week. I can't wait for it to arrive so I can try it out. I never get to be artsy enough.
While I enjoyed Jazza’s kit I wish he had included a sharpener. Great video I loved that you did the whole picture.
My experience with shrink art was really good! I thought yours was amazing. Keep up the amazing work. :)
I actually use printable shrink plastic to make charms of digital art a lot, and have had tons of success! There's different textures and opacities that are fun to play with, and it's kind of magical to see a physical piece made with digital art. 😊
I have always wanted to try shrink plastic. Moriah Elizabeth made such cute magnets and pins with it.
I like the depth of colours on the hades one. The background colors and stone chair thing really stand out. Cool 😎
I used to make little shrink plastic pins by gluing little pinbacks on them. They were cute, but man were they FINICKY and I used sharpie and despite them being permanent ink, after I shrunk them they'd still smear so I had to put a spray varnish on them. Tedious, but I did have fun!
Love when markers/colored pencils have the color names on them!! Makes life so much easier!!
Me too as someone who is colourblind and likes to draw it makes it easier for me drastically
I remember doing shrink art with my older cuzzins in the late 70s early 80s when I was waaaay too young to understand/appreciate it. Have recently found this art form again and am so excited. Haven’t had bad outcomes much…. A couple learning experiences but. So. Much. Fun.
Those look like amazing markers and pencil crayons. Fun project. The brush tips are definitely a big plus for me!
the fact that jazza put greek in there and that you used the greek ones makes me really happy. Im half greek
I hope Sika is doing well and wants to come back to us ❤️ I love everything you do Jackie but when Sika is there "bugging" you it's the cutest thing ever 💓
I was wondering what happened to her sister?
@@margaretmartinez4779 all I know is back when Jackie got her back surgery Sika got something done too but idk what. I just saw some posts on her Instagram then.
I’ve never actually used the shrinks-dinks paper as a kid so I wouldn’t even know what the results looked like 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
I love that eye. Definitely the face of someone in the zone. The art zone! or Chalk zone as some would say.
Girl , i can’t believe how hard you work just to entertain us! Keep up the fire work 🔥
I hope you hit 10M subs ! Cap 🧢
This video is so exciting for me Bc I finally got to order one of Jazza’s sets and I CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON IIIIIIIT!! Seeing you dig through it and show us how awesome it really is, is making it so much worse 😂😂
I'm new to the crafting thing and I now get crazy excited about new craft supplies instead of make up 😂 Glad I found this channel yay!
actually, semi transparant is the way to go in my opinion. because they are sanded the color sticks to it better and when you use them in combination with one of those cheap lightboxes it works incredibly well. Heat guns are also amazing with shrink plastic. you have far more control over your piece. just make sure you put the cut out art on an oven save tray/tin/bowl and gently flatten them with a smooth flat item when they are still warm.
I love you so so so much, and I so much appreciate your sense of humor, and Jazza as well ❤❤❤
Im actually very impressed! I like the shiney sides better. Lol but cool!
I am an artist who has spent hours drawing really tiny and caused a lot of pain and strain for a few projects. So this is awesome to know that you found stuff that works
Finally! Someone answering the hard questions!
Seriously I've wondered about shrinking a whole page for yeeeears!
i have a copy of that deer i bought from jazza's website back when he did his video drawing it, i love it!
Omg the goosebumps shrinky dinks came out awesome! It even inspired me to make my first tiktok! Thanks for your inspiration too, Jackie!
Small thing I have found doing shrink plastic. If you put your outlines on the smooth side of the plastic, but use sharpee, then color in from the other side, it really pops when they are small!
You can use sandpaper to sand the shiny side so that you can color on each side...
Awesome and thanks for the info on Jazzas box, totally looking forward to getting new art supplies 😍😀
XD
