Yo my brotha I have to tell you something deep. This goes beyond gear and reviews, sort of 🤔. I've been a mobile dj since the 80's so you can only imagine lol. I'm 56 now and went through the 2 turntables and a microphone era scratching & mixing. I've grown in the business from those days to a full blown mobile dj business. Multiple units and DJ's doing events. I was married late and became a wedding day dj husband and wife duo along with my brother doing multiple events yearly. Then one day I got divorced and not only fell hard, I lost my passion for this business all together. I've sold thousands of dollars in gear and DJ equipment. I lost my day job of 18 years due to covid and just lost track of things. But ever since I've turned on your channel some how you and your presentation make things interesting again. I'm not back yet but it's because of you that I'm at least interested once again. I feel like a rookie and actually like that feeling. Emotionally I want to thank you. You are a true entertainer, a great guy and I'm sure a wonderful friend to many. Thank you and one love. 👍🏾

I’m two years younger than u and I been DJ’n on and off since 1981. I went to prison in 1992 and didn’t get out till 2006 and started back DJ’n 2006. I didn’t waste no time jumpin back into the DJ world and I’m glad I did cause I learn how to use all this new DJ equipment and loving it to🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Hopefully you’ll start back DJ’n💪🏾💯👍🏽

Thanks for the review, Terry. Personally think this would be the perfect board id it wasn’t lacking some very basic features found on, say, the XDJ-XZ, or like you said, competitor products. I personally think that I’ll go with the XDJ-XZ for these reasons, especially since the 4 channel XZ allows for pro-linking cdjs if I ever want to add them to my setup.
Probably would have gone with this board if it was a little less expensive. It just seems like for some of the basic features it lacks, it’s a little steep to justify over a more comprehensive all-in-one like the XZ. Wondering what your thoughts are on this.
I love Pioneer DJM-900 beat and color effects. I use those religiously to the point you feel each click and know what setting you're in without looking sort of like shifting gears in a car. It's not for everyone but those who utilize it appreciate it more than other mixers. Happy they're bringing that style to this new standalone unit. Hopefully Serato update will operate onboard without a need for a computer in this...
Ive been trying to explain this to pioneer bashers who have become denon bullies lol. Not sure why the hate. Pioneer beat and color FX's just blow away all other gear. If that is important to you as a DJ then Pioneer better. If streaming more important go with denon. Not sure why so much hate and bashing at us Pioneer folks who like these units better.

@@ClevelandTerry nobody bashing me specifically but there is tons of hate towards pioneer for not leaning on streaming. Each brand has a niche. I’m just laughing that Denon fans absolutely hate pioneer fans. There should be enough love both ways is all I’m saying.
The RX3 would be perfect if it had - full size CDJ type jogwheels and paddle effects.
I love the XDJs for lots of reasons one being I could get away from laptops. Now it looks like they will come with a laptop built in!
Cool all in one product and the best choice for mobile djs who don’t want to use a streaming service.. i would say most pros in this space would prefer local files anyways.
When browsing through playlists can you view the BPM on the right hand side of the song title? On previous models and CDJs, you can by choosing the “sort” option.
Would of been nice to have dvs support however the upgrade with the phono preamp, better sound quality outputs and Serato support soon is very promising. Would be an upgrade from my SRT imo.

Great review. I think Pioneer really dropped the ball with this, unless there's another all in one right around the corner to take on the Prime 4. I will be sticking with the 1000 and a laptop for now.

The fact that you can't stream music Is HUGE and inexcusable for a stand alone unit. It's actually a deal breaker.. being a guy who started on the prime 4 having the ability to stream is so clutch especially when it comes to honoring song requests on the fly
Hi Cleveland, great channel. Have you had your hands on the XDJ XZ? Is it better than the RX3?
So this is interesting, I like what I see but as always size is a question. In comparison to the Prime 2 is the Pioneer bigger? If it is the same size as the Prime 4 in a 2 channel I'm curious as to the advantages vs disadvantages. The Box has come a long way, but that streaming portion is necessary. It's so necessary! Especially for a stand alone... I don't get why they wouldn't have streaming . What are they thinking lol they need to release an update asap

Can you use beat fx over itself. You mentioned the beat fx being accessible on screen independent of the actual button. My question then is can I cross layer the beat fx from on screen and manual operation with the button too
THE REASON THE TOUCH SCREEN IS NOT WORKING IS OBVIOUS.......... Didn't you first thought that they maybe did this on purpose? The first thing that comes to mind is to protect you from loading a deck by accident. I don't know if but would think this is possible. The browser probably just doesn't check for playing deck (maybe it does IDK) So selecting this with a jog and pressing to confirm rules out accidents (not mistakes of course lol)

Has to have WiFi for dj pools. One thing I use a lot when I have people request a song That I don’t have & not a fan of the software. Tried them all & only one I love the most is virtual dj & does record box have auto mix of playlist? That’s a must have for me for cocktail he/ dinner music for weddings.
Well. I like how Terry is trying to say something positive at the end, but everytime there is another BUT ;-) I would sum it up: another new gear from Pioneer DJ, will find some customers, who will finfd it practical for them, BUT Denon DJ can sleep well... and I like they are not sleeping at Denon DJ at all, BUT I would appreciate more push from Pioneer in the competition. All in one, standalone, that is a preference of mobile djs. In that respect: lighting control, streaming and the price tag, does not make me think about switch to XDJ from Prime 4.
Is there a Denon equivalent to Link Cue? Seems like a time saver that doesn't exist on Denon products.

Can you stream to obs studio from rx3? Without running a rekordbox on a laptop, if so any documentation how to do that?
One of the biggest cosmetic things that I think this board should have done was take the CDJ size Jog-Wheels and put them on this board. I use the DDJ-1000 consistently and also play on teh XDJ-XZ at my residency, but I am so used to CDJ sized Jog Wheels so that's a major turn off for me.

Serato support will require BOTH Pioneer & Serato working on it. They can say early 2021, but I never hold my breath when it comes to either company. And this getting updated will be dependant on both working together? The price on this is nuts too, but I suppose it'll look like a pretty good deal when 6 months down the road Pioneer releases the limited edition gold model that's 800 more bucks.

I've been trying to get my head around Rekordbox and the XDJ RX2 for around 9 months. This is the first time that I've gone digital, anyway it transpires after this amount of time, the waveforms on the RX2 display stutter and lag all the time. Never thought that would be ok with a £1300 investment. May have to upgrade t the RX3.

What do u think the future of detachable screens would be? Makes devices like this easier to transport and prevent damage. Flight cases can be costly. I have a few devices that can use one case.

Whats the max size on a USB Flashdrive for this unit?
They made button come up in another screen with no option but to manually select because of the chance of loading to the wrong deck if the software doesn't give an option for loading protection 🤔
about the reverse... you forgot to mention on the CDJ if you pull the paddle down its a slip mode reverse, if you push it up its continuous, if you stick slip mode on and hit reverse it will jump back to the play destination!

I love my RX2. But a couple issues really stand out for me.
1) that you can’t edit you playlists. I think the next generation should have had a mode where you can drag and drop music to and from playlists on your controller.
2) there is no sampler. Having a dedicated SD slot for your sample banks would have been awesome.
3) you have to assign microphone effects through the beat fx dial and that scrolling back and forth is fucking annoying.
Definitely gonna give this one a miss.
Hope there will be a 4 Chanel version of this 😕 a hard drive bay would be nice and streaming as well. But that probably won't happen
This thing is 1600 pounds for 2 channels and a screen that's way way over priced... Forget a 4 channel version for another 500 quid ontop

Whats the MSRP? Any additional RCA inputs ? For Requests or clients requesting Music off their phones?
It has two extra RCAs and a 3.5 mm jack under the Aux section on the back of the unit. Effects don’t work on it but it has its own trim knob
No key control/change option (just a key lock), shame, i was sold until i found out this feature is missing from the RX3. I'll stick to Traktor and my MacBook for now then....
Just bought this all in one as a beginner. I know... it's expensive and unnecessary for a newbie. I just wanted something up to date and portable as an all in one. What resources would you recommend to get started?

I’m waiting for a true standalone, in my opinion none currently exist. I learned that after going to the prime 4. You go backwards after learning you can’t do everything that you’re used to such as videos. Hoping VDJ or Serato makes a “true” standalone that gives all the options as if you were using a laptop.
Nothing beats a laptop and a cheap controller. That package is way cheaper than one of these controllers and you get soooo much more. Beat these companies up to make proper future proof equipments.
Terry - sorry if I missed this in your review, but is there the option to do vertical waveforms on these units? Im sure I could get used to horizontal waveforms but after 15 years of dj’ing with vertical waveforms it’s pretty ingrained in me. Thanks.

Mr. CT, streaming is a must have. It may be possible if the controller also can run while using a pc as the source for the software. I recently had a short party and I use a external HD and out of the blue it just stop working and I was able to carry on with the party using streaming. Question, the timer function does it work with auto mixing and does it has some kind of transmission. I have being requesting to pioneer a feature similar to the one Traktor DJ has that use fade in/fade out markers. I wonder if this is their way to implement something similar but not as good. Good job on your review.
“Streaming is a must” - I disagree. It’s a nice to have but not a necessity. You should have a backup hard drive regardless of whether your gear supports streaming.
@@DJ-Coma I agreed with you, how ever streaming is basically a form of a backup. Thing do happen and we are not moving back in time.

streaming isn't a must have. Its a liability IMO. Relying on a wifi connection for the music? No thanks!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there's an app called like ddj record or something available as a smartphone app. its made by recordbox and allows you to plug in via lightning USB cable to the decks and record sets? Might be wrong though, anyone confirm this?

What you guys do with a controller after a review, you guys stay with it?
For the most part, We send all product back, sometimes fast, sometimes for an extended use. However if I really love something I cop get one for myself. Although I’m getting this one back to test once serato is on public release.
Make a video comparing it to the denon prime 2
In Rekordbox I use quantise on 1. It's one beat. I don't do juggling, so having something play on beat everytime without error is nice. With faster values it happens it rounds to the wrong time, making the mistiming more wrong.
I'm in the Denon Engine world and use quantize at 1, too for the same reasons you do.

HI...so i bought a brand new Pioneer DJ XDJ RX3 ..I'm very new at this...how do i connect with my Apple PROBOOK laptop on RekordBox ..i plugged my laptop USB to MIDI DJ XDJ RX3 (is that correct?) I created an account & downloaded REKORDBOX END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT....but nothing seems to happened ...i tried to unlock the hardware ..i also registered my X3 with the its serial number...HOW DO I GET STARTED...can you please help guide me in the right direction ...
You plug your computer into the usb port in the back. Turn rekordbox on then select the source which is your computer. It defaults to sticks. Also you may need the drivers from the rekordbox site and make sure you allow the driver access your sound settings. It should pop up during install
If Pioneer made a xdj-xz2 what price range would be realistic. Mindful you want 10” screen, Wi-Fi streaming, 4 channels 🤔 in this market I believe it will be 3k+. Will you buy it ????yes😅 no😡just want to know… love you guys keep being great djs

Fact is Denon build quality is a mile behind Pioneer , I saw this with my own eyes as my prime 4 with its ice skates of jog wheels fell apart over the months before I got rid , pads not working, tracks loading backwards, faders bleeding and knobs becoming loose meanwhile I have 10 year old pioneer still on point , there is a reason while they are brand leaders admittedly over priced and very disappointed with the cdj 3000’s yes I prefer the denon 5000’s but nothing is better than Nexus -2 they take some beating still !

I've got a pair of xdj700's in the cupboard lolol... I use a traktor S8 or a f1 mapped for djing... I can't stand pioneer equipment because the sound is horrible

Pioneer is like apple. Releasing overpriced solid hardware with little innovation and less feature set than competitors. It is what it is. This one ain’t for me. They need to get rid of the fx strip and implement a better system. It is annoying and cumbersome having to switch each time you want to use an effect. I never got used to it in the 1000SRT. With 2k you can buy 4 mixstreams, which is functionally miles ahead of this. Nice review as always. Waiting for you to take it out in the wild!
Not sure if this is an "Apples to apples" comparison. Apple removed the headphone jack before people were ready in the name of "being bold". Pioneer held onto the CD drive the longest until the majority was no longer using them.

I notice you and other DJs are asking for streaming on Pioneer products. Maybe it is me for I am not a mobile DJ but I don't see the purpose of streaming my music. I rather purchase and download it for my library. The one thing I was disappointed is Pioneer discontinued the RX2 but keep the RR! They should have kept the RX2 and trashed the RR along with the FLX6 for both controllers are unless. The price tag on the RX3 will keep me from buying it for it is too much for my pocket. Yes, I am looking for a stand-alone system but spending $2K USD is not on the cards. I am looking toward more videos on the RX3. It's a great kit and if I could, I would purchase it.

It's shiny. It's lacking far to many necessary things to justify that price. It's a downgrade from the XDJ-XZ and if you're gonna buy at the 2k price point why not just get the flag ship? There are plenty of ways to get DJ gear that don't require full price upfront.
I don't see the value. Avoid unless you have the scratch to burn.

This is the 3rd version of this product and it’s always had smaller jogs.

They left out I think critical features. Namely WiFi and lighting control for the mobile guys. I suspect they didn’t make this that user group. I guessing they expect it to be installed in clubs and bars etc. maybe the new XZ will have those features. I would be okay if they made you buy a few dongles to add WiFi lighting. Also I’d like a hard drive bay to keep a portion of your library always ready to go. But I guess denon offers what i like.
WiFi is a big deal on the standalone. They’re going to need a solution.

It’s the RUclips world. Without major expos etc, we are their main exposure. All the companies do it. I’m glad to be considered “prominent “. 😀

Does the logo in the jog wheel say Djcity so are they passing gear to do RUclips reviews ( youtubers cap like … company’s send them equipment free to review when really Dj youtubers only have few weeks to test drive then return or send to next youtubers🤣🤣🙄
We never keep the gear but I will be testing this system up through the serato release.

That price point is ridiculous for the "Sticky" censor, lack of SYNC, "Outdated" Touch Screen, and "Total Disrespect" of not adding wi-fi for streaming. I am very disappointed Pioneer. I guess we should expect the XDJ-XZ2 to be the flagship... If that is the case it better be the "End All - Be All" to Numak & Denon. I need XDJ-XZ2 to be the equivalent of Wu-tang restoring Hip-Hop to the East Coast. Right now, Death Row (Denon & Numark) is killing the game.

We know pioneers gives you guys freebies that why you will shade Denon and praise Pioneer gears your reviews are biased as always. .
First, pioneer doesn’t give us free gear. These are review units that will have to go back. Second, this review is about this controller, not Denon, and three, there have been several in music products that I have preferred over pioneer, but for as much tech that the prime 2 has, you can not discount the fact that pioneer, hardware wise, is excellent quality. IMO.
