      Bro u missed the most important thing ... how does the touch feel on the "vinyl" it looks soo shiny like acrilic .. is it deep grooved ? or does it actually feel like a vinyl ... anyways .... they are waaay behind my ns72 ... stating that is better than that its pretty hard to belive....

    Thank you for the video, I used spin on Technic 1200’s back in the 80’s and early 90’s back in Chicago,but then I jumped off to pursue playing live music etc. I’m actually getting back in the game and have been looking at controllers and this one caught my eye due to the spinning platter. I really enjoyed the video and what the Ddj-rev7 can do. I’m going to go ahead and get it so I can be ready by May 20th 2022 which will be my first DJ performance since the 1992, mad respect to you and your channel and thank you once again for the review. Blessings and success to you, your family and channel.

    Dude. Your videos are so helpful. I been in the market for a new mixer since Rane/Serato announced my Sixty Eight would stop working. After watching your meticulous comparison vid I decided to go with the S7 for the time being - while I get back on my practice + spend time learning Rekordbox. Without the effort you had put into succinctly defining the differences I would still be flailing as well as scratching my head with some of the functions - thankfully your vid is a good reference point.
    This said - I’m surprised there isn’t a more comprehensive set of vids from Pioneer and Serato to help really impart the muscle memory of all the different features tucked away (particularly key functions).
    There are a few annoyances about the S7 at this time (eg no mute for fx return which I am used to from the Rane 68) however I am finding that quite a few are just because I need to tweak some settings or explore further.
    Anyway, had to say thanks for the thorough vids - you and Mojaxx vids are consistently on point & invaluable.

    Imagine a standalone controller with 12 inch spinning platters. That would be the most expensive, heaviest, most professional controller ever made. If pioneer makes it, call it the Rev-Max. Or Rane...just call it the Rane Infiniti.

    First I'm glad you reviewed this cause there are some djs who will remain nameless who truly need some work on youtube period. My question is how is the build quality compared to the SX or DDJ series? Is there a lot of plastic vs metal?
    Also have you ever done a beat juggle video? I ask because the way you explained the visual I have never had it explained to me that way. I think it would be very helpful especially to someone like me to know what to look for as well as listen for. Just thought it was great how you just gave vision to it bro.

As for the price, I think is more than reasonable especially if you look at the Rane One. They’re pretty close together in Price and there’s so much more features on this REV7. I held off on getting the Rane One because there were to many mistakes that went into the build of that controller. I knew someone would make a competing product but I had no idea it would be Pioneer DJ. And they simply hit a home run with this controller. But I never thought they would get into the "motorized platter controller" game. Also the price is really good considering the SZ2 cost about 2 grand a few years ago.

    Great video Cleveland & I agree that this will be the controller of the year. One thing the Rane One can do that this can't is using the Skratch Attach to play real vinyl but this may be an attachment that few may be interested in. Hey Cleveland! So I've watched the other videos from the other guys as well and what I noticed is that most are using the pitch bend buttons to nudge the pitch. Can you please do a mix when you do your next video and see if nudging the actual vinyl on the platter works as well as a traditional TT or even the Rane One, as if you were just using a TT.
    For guys like us who do mobile gigs/clubs (and are open format) where we need to adjust pitch regularly, there's no point in moving platters if the pitch bend button has to be used to make fine adjustments IMO.
    Isn't the whole idea of the moving platters to emulate a TT as close as possible?
    I hope that makes sense and you get what I mean about not having to use pitch bend buttons. At least with the other controllers like the SRT, you still have the physical control of nudging by using the side of the platters, which to me is part of the experience.
    I think the REV 7 is geared towards more Scratch DJs who are used to using a TT and want to transition to a portable solution. (My opinion so far.)
    Thanks and keep up the excellent work on your content!
    Rudy.

I also would like to express how badly I want one of these but I'm on a tight tight budget which I'm sure a lot of us can relate to. I'd love to know if Numark and Pioneer and Hercules are ever going to make budget friendly DJ controllers with spinning platters? Or at least with spinning lights that mimic a spinning wheel. I have high hopes that one day they will have a motorized spinning platter controller with all the bells and whistles and lights for under $300 if enough of us yell about it they will listen right? Lol thank you sir

    Now that you have had a little time with the DDJ REV 7. Why one in your opinion, is better for just scratching, the Rane one or the Rev7?

    • @ClevelandTerry
      @ClevelandTerry  2 года назад +1

      The platters on both are good, the faders are better on the rev so I got to say for scratching it’s the rev. IMHO

    When I look at my rane one I see it the same way my first Numark ns7 vs the ns7 2 or 3. The Rev 7 makes me look at the rane one and say " y'all could have done this the first time "...the difference is numark saw where they could improve before another company put out a competitive moving platter controller.. If rane would have made the platter portion like mini rane twelves and used a rane 70 mixer mock in the middle there would be no debate for me other than I like the mag fader as well

      Included

      @velanche 2 года назад

      @@ClevelandTerry Just after leaving the original comment, Serato emailed an announcement on the new controllers. Looking at the specs on its site, it mentioned that Serato DVS is a paid upgrade. Disappointing, that; for the price it’s asking for a controller that essentially lifted the DJM-S series mixers and making it the heart of the controller, that really should be included. That said, I still plan on buying it. Thanks for getting back to me.

    • @ClevelandTerry

      My bad…you said serato DVS. If you are hooking up external turntables you will need it…most people won’t hook up turntables to it.

    • @velanche
      @velanche 2 года назад

      @@ClevelandTerry My DJ crew use turntables and CDJs; at least vinyl and digital media via the CDJs will still work through the controller without the need for Serato DVS, and we all have computers, so probably for us inconsequential. I think Serato DVS should be a throw-in for such a high-end, battle mixer-like product, but again I’m nickpicking on an otherwise sweet-looking piece of kit.

    Kudos to Pioneer for not allowing the non-mirrored setup to not skew everything to one side. The Rane-one platters? The right-side platter is much closer to the crossfader than the left side. Right side platter is cramped when using the crossfader while the left platter offers more room. It just looks like everything is skewed to one side on the Rane-One with no consideration for symmetrical Crossfader/Platter placement. One you look at the Rane -one and the uneven placement between the platters and crossfader you cannot unsee it.

    CAn't wait to hear the Rane vs the Rev7. I am considering moving from the DDJ1000, been using it for years, to the Rev7. My only hold back is that means I need to move from Rekordbox to Serato. Any thoughts?

    • @ct1296
      @ct1296 2 года назад

      If you’re purely a scratch/turntablist-style dj and want to mix purely on a controller it’s a no brainier (finances permitting) - serato is the industry standard for battle-type stuff and other than the faff of moving your library across (think you can drag and drop tracks from Rekordbox anyway?) it’s a fairly similar workflow. That being said, for the price difference you could grab a couple of turntables and run pioneer DVS alongside the ddj and have the best of both worlds in terms of scratch functionality + the blend-style cdj setup. If you want something to take out gigging and perform routines on (or just don’t have the space for mixer + turntables) this is one hell of a piece of kit, but the classic/traditional cdj setup is preferred by non-scratch djs for good reason so I’d be hesitant to go all-in on this if you’re looking to mix in a more hybrid manor

      @@ct1296 Extremely helpful feedback. I agree, moving tracks from one platform to the other shouldn't be humongous and keeping all the meta data. For space reasons and I prefer the rev 7 compared to adding turntables to the ddj1000. I do have one follow up, what is it about cdj's set up that makes it preferred by non scratch Dj's?

    • @ct1296

      @@djstarsomatic8068 the main things for me are a) the pitch sliders (having them vertical tends to be better for beatmatching, as battle djs tend not to hold long blends very often favouring quicker cuts, meaning it tends to be at the top to give more space on the platter for scratching), and b) the djm-style FX, which are better for buildups and long transitions than the instant release paddles on here, which are designed to basically just kill the tune you're mixing out of in an interesting way. Also, more space on the eqs lets you work the blend more and make subtle changes across a long period of time, the faders are designed for subtle transitions rather than cuts, the extra features/buttons (cue button, loops etc) on cdjs are way more useful for blending than scratching, and the general layout on cdjs is more suited to the more improvisational nature of trying to get a blend to work in the moment. It's not like there are a lot of blends you can't pull off on a battle mixer / turntable setup, but it's definitely designed to appeal to djs who want to flex their routines before quickly dropping in a new tune to get an instant reaction rather than those who need to subtly introduce a new tune in over the course of a few minutes and mix out in a way that the crowd barely notices. Neither style is better than the other - it just depends what kind of crowds you're rocking and what kind of tunes you're playing.
      I'd say if you're scratching over tunes and doing the occasional cuts, stick to the ddj/djm/cdj layout, but if a good portion of your transitions are scratch-based then this controller is where it's at

      @@ct1296 Amazing response! Truly appreciate the knowledge. So I am more into blending with occasional cuts. I want to start doing more in the scratch/cut arena however not to the point to over power the types of mixed genres etc I am doing for my audience.
      I was more under the impression I could do everything I already do with eq's on the ddj1000, and do agree the vertical seems easier than the horizontal, was willing to transition how I approach that if I could get two for one.
      So loosing having access to 4 channels and eq transitions for blends as well I still like Rekordbox Performance better than Serato, I think I'm either sticking with the 1000 or looking at a S7 or 11, which means I'd have to go 11 if I still want 4 channels I believe.
      Thanks again for the thoughts on my situation
