It be amazing to see like a rev2.. With rgb pads and crossfader cut on the hardware. Such a great entry level piece already, just the rgb pads would be so nice.
I've been rocking with you subscribed liked and commented for 3 years.... You're work, skill, creativity, dopeness on the decks as well as video content creation is legendary. We're literally watching you grow and blow up in real time... But I've always hated pioneer. I started when Pioneer was only known for cheap house audio. The standards were Technic & Vestax... Then very one else accordingly. Gemini had their moments Numark as well but always middle and lower tiered and of course a&h and the like but for me using pioneer controllers, cdjs, mixers, pro anything really always gave me the same feeling as when I had to use their crappy house systems. The Rev7 is cool but its been done before & better over 10 years ago... The Ns7iii still is fully capable to this day... Yeah it weighs as much as a dead body... But its more than capable. But this Rev1 is absolutely a game changer. Capability, price, mobility... This here is a winner. Game changer for real and will have a way bigger sales impact and culture than rev7. This is unlimited possibilities... Dj anywhere anytime with the best layout at less then $300. Pioneer ya finally got me.
Just ordered mine. I have the DDJ-SZ2 & 2 technics 1200 mk2 with the S9 mixer. i was tired of carrying the SZ2 to small gigs because id too big & heavy. so I can't wait to get it so I can do my smaller gigs.
So... Given your history and clear affinity for the DDJ-SB3, what would you lean towards recommending for someone without a "beginner" controller? The REV1 over the SB3 (or 400) these days, especially for someone more interested in hip-hop over trance, EDM etc?
Great video on this product. I like this controller for it portability and back up capabilities to my private events. Price wise it very reasonable for all.
My wife got me the ddj 800 a year ago great controller but with all these new awesome controllers I at times feel like damn I need to upgrade mind you the 800 is plenty of controller for me I gotta be happy and use what I got but damn is that rev 7 nice even this rev 1 is impressive for the price 🤦🏾♂️
If you want to use serato dj then yes go with the rev1, go with the flx4 if you want to use rekordbox. Choose your software first, that will let you know which controller to get.
You just sold me on the Rev 1! I have been looking at the DDJ-400 size/price controllers. Do you know if the Rev series will be compatible with Rekordbox or other DJ software in the future?
so i dj on traktor with a s4 mk3 but as i’ve been getting more gigs i find it evident i need to learn serato better and get more used to it if i want to do this for work. would this be good for me? i would mainly just use it for my own practice with serato but i would more than likely be using cdjs if i’m being forced to use serato at a gig. i’m used to 4 channels and loads of effects but i get it’s not necessary. tl:dr pro traktor player wants to know if this good for learning serato/future cdj use
As always, great review! Can I use this in events like wedding receptions (up to 150 guests)? I will run it through an external mixer. I am currently using the SX2 but I wanted to scale down the size and weight of my controller. Also will I be able to carry-over the Serato DJ Pro I got from SX2 to the Rev1? What about the Serato packs like Flip, pitchNtime, etc. I have all the Serato Packs except for the DVS.
Also you'd have to purchase serato pro or pay a monthly subscription. The rev1 plus serato pro would cost a little over $500 assuming you bought the software.
Good day sir before im use ddj sb s and softwwre dj pro? And i want to buy rev 1can i ask they work software in serato dj pro or dj lite only i thinking if they possible thank you🙂🙂
All marketing right now, it's aimed at battle deejays and I'd bet almost everyone of them use serato or VD. With tax season coming and supply shortages it was probably a better business choice. Guarantee they'll drop a rekordbox version after the first round of sales numbers come in.
Currently, this is a Serato controller. But there is a section in the Pioneer DJ forum for feature and product requests and suggestions. I highly recommend going there and leaving a post because the developers actually read them. Go to www.pioneerdj.com and navigate to the forum.
quick question. on all the videos i've seen here on RUclips, the Gold one looks to be brighter on the pads even tho they say that is the same thing only different colors. do you know if this is true?
wassup bro quick question just got the controller i have a problem it my controller won’t connect to serato keeps saying troubleshooting but there’s no drive to download for the rev1 please help if you read this 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Its going to stick out like a sore thumb that you are using the built in scratch effects if you keep using them as they sound a bit robotic, good enough for most people though and the audience wont care unless you are at DMC.
Kids are so spoiled these days. Me remembering my Hercules RMX I started on for a controller and thinking my VCI-200 was going to be the ultimate upgrade as my first 2. Like, it's hideous looking, but who cares, this has a stupid amount of features for a first controller gift. I would have killed to have something that good when I started.
I can see it getting better over time though and it will probably be so good that you wont be able to tell the difference, if it could record your own cross fader movements it would be very useful when learning new scratches or being experimental or just saving a bit of wear on your fader.
Lol 🤣 😆 as a DJ they started on real turntables in 1989 I don't need software to cuts I could scratch without a software to make it sound that way this ruins the DJ experience in my book no disrespect this may be good for learning curve for someone but I prefer the old fashioned way
Should folks who wrote on a typewriter be upset that word processors made writing easier? Or is the message of writing the big picture. In the end, it's not about what you use, it's how you use them.
Its clever but agreed, I can see the fun and possibly value of the skills required being taken away from the artform at some point if you dont have to do much to sound good.

That scratch tracking feature is super impressive. They're making pretty solid strides with each iteration.
“You must first believe!” ..
Brilliant!!!
I'm in love with this controller. I hope they don't replace it soon.
I agree on everything you said on this.. and the controllers doing the Peter piper, nice..!

Those scratch sections were legit bro 💯
Is this good for techno, house, trance?
Salute brotha. I’m copping this. I’ll be dope in a yr or so.

You sure it won’t work with Virtual Dj?
I just purchased the Black and Gold Limited Edition one . Its pretty dope looking also very impressed with what it could do for the size and price 👍
You should do the Peter Piper Routine on the Rev-1.
Whats up? Thanks for the review. How do you adjust the tempo range from 8 to 16 ?
This was great! thanks bro!

Why not scale down to the sr2? It's the 2 channel version of the sx series. The rev1 would be too much of a downgrade.
Also you'd have to purchase serato pro or pay a monthly subscription. The rev1 plus serato pro would cost a little over $500 assuming you bought the software.
Dope! Thanks Pj 😊
But how long will the alps crossfader last …?
Bro why is your usb cable red ? Mines came with a black one
Awesome
🖤🖤🖤
what do you think of the Vestax VCI-380
Do I have to buy speakers, or can I just use my computer’s speakers?
would you recommend over an SB3 or FLX6? I’m trying to get rid of sx2 and keep just enough to do events
Can I use music from my music library from iTunes and Apple Music?
Thx for the video and your awesome content. Can you try to adjust the crossfader cut lag distance in utility mode? ;)
I’m sure you can but I haven’t read the manual yet to figure out how to get there 😆
Will be nice if they add tracking to the S11
serato 3.0 is freezing when i press sampler banks multiple times constantly.
A Cue Mix Control Knob (like the 400 has) would have been nice … ?!
Good day sir before im use ddj sb s and softwwre dj pro? And i want to buy rev 1can i ask they work software in serato dj pro or dj lite only i thinking if they possible thank you🙂🙂
Yes
Any suggestions for cross fader curb settings n such for scratching n cutting?
Set the curve to sharpest in the Serato settings.
Curious why the Rev1 has two Auto Loop buttons instead of giving us one Saved Loop button and one Auto Loop Button like on the S11? 🤔
There are two auto loop buttons because each auto loop button corresponds to each deck.
Not sure how one saved loop button will work with two decks.
@@priyonjoni just assumed the saved loop button would work like the S11. But it's still a nice controller. No regrets on my Rev1 purchase.
Does this rev1 work for a virtual dj? Thanks
Why they didn’t drop one for rekordbox ☹️

Do you think that this will have a fader adjustment like the sb3.
It has it. Just have to go into utility mode. It’s in the manual.
Where to get those scratch samples?
do you have them cuts on the S 11
quick question. on all the videos i've seen here on RUclips, the Gold one looks to be brighter on the pads even tho they say that is the same thing only different colors. do you know if this is true?
The LED brightness is identical. They are even the same exact part.

@@priyonjoni serato lite
what version number?
WTF...... NO EXCUSES NOW..... BUT YOU JUST TURNED THESE BUM DJS INTO GODS..... BUT CANT STOP PROGRESS
Huh?
Its going to stick out like a sore thumb that you are using the built in scratch effects if you keep using them as they sound a bit robotic, good enough for most people though and the audience wont care unless you are at DMC.
do you know if their gonna make one for Rb?
Currently, the DDJ-REV1 as well as the DDJ-REV7 are officially for Serato only.
Can u midi map with the rev 1?
I can't find answers anywhere
Yes. It is a MIDI device. And also MIDI remapping serato is possible on Serato DJ Pro
Will it work on Virtual Dj?
Virtual DJ has a page on their site that lists compatible devices.

The Rev1 and 7 look great but it's not the product for me.
It’s not for everyone. It’s for the folks who use or plan on ending up using turntables in battle style.
Aye mane, I been messing with you for years. You sold me my SB3, now you sold me the REV1. Your the truth when it comes to DJing. I’m out.
Not feeling the fake scratches. This is bad for deejaying And the culture. But good review
I don't think a teaching tool is bad for culture, no more than a student keyboard that has notes that light up is bad for pianists.
@@priyonjoni great analogy
I can see it getting better over time though and it will probably be so good that you wont be able to tell the difference, if it could record your own cross fader movements it would be very useful when learning new scratches or being experimental or just saving a bit of wear on your fader.
