  • Hey fellow surf addicts, today we're finally getting around to reviewing the JS Xero. This is part 1, as we got more to talk about and discuss. It is definitely a good all round shortboard, but, I personally think if you want to get the most out of it in small waves, buy it in the HYFI 2.0 construction. More to come soon.
    Conditions: 2-4ft

Thanks for the review. I'm actually surprised that the PU rated so high for durability. I'm wondering now if the PU foam is different in AU vs US. I had a DHD some years ago and it too was PU. But surprisingly, it too was super durable. The board wasn't heavy and it stayed super white for years. Anyways, sort of digressed.
Appreciate the honest review. Crazy how much concave it has, when you were holding it at certain angles, I would see it clearly in the video. I am a fan of big concaves but usually on super/uber grovelers. Curious how it would go on a performance board. I was just looking at their website and thought their Sub Xero looked cool interesting. Anyways, can't wait for part 2.

Hey Thomye, JS use Burford blanks here in Australia for their PU’s, hence why they last a good while. I was actually interested in the Sub Xero before this. I would definitely like to try the Xero in their new HYFI 2.0 construction, the speed would be awesome and I think the epoxy would give it some much needed spark 👍🙏

Good review. I think the Xero was a marketing fail because they originally released it calling it an updated monstabox when in reality it’s an updated black box. A lot of people were disappointed in it under that misconception. Then the Xero gravity was released which is more appropriately an updated monstabox and I’ve heard positive feedback because it fits the criteria that the consumers are expecting.

I find some of these mainstream shapers release too many similar boards at the same time. I’ve noticed that with JS especially. Pyzel is good at this, as they try to keep models that work on the market for a long time. The Xero gravity I’ve heard good things about, and would be super keen to try that model. Thanks for sharing your opinion brother, you were spot on 👍

Good on you mate, hybrid shapes are definitely super fun and sometimes the way to go. What board is it you’re riding?
