The whole thing is probably a myth, because wouldn’t the siren just be constantly running as the plane was flying 🤔 Unless there was some sort of switch that moved a cover for the siren.
@@stoneman_00 so why doesn’t it work when the plane is climbing or flying horizontally? There is still air moving around the plane and this through the siren?
@@JUNGLESTRIKEOFDOOMI don‘t know how it works correctly, but they are real and I think it only starts at a certain velocity, like a ramjet engine. On a dive you obviously have much higher velocity, than by climbing or flying straight. Maybe I‘m wrong, but they definetly made this sound only while diving.

They were only this loud when diving, however. In level flight they'd make a quieter but still annoying whistling sound.
