I like that you kept recording anyways. It shows not every day is going to run smoothly when you have a specific goal in mind! You still proceeded and didn't give up.
MEG I LOVE WHEN THE LITTLE MISTAKES HAPPEN YOU LET US SEE THEM. GIRL YOU GOT THIS INDIANA GRAMMY THINKING I MIGHT DO THIS FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER. (WE HAVE SEVERAL CHURCH EVENTS) I AM ALREADY TELLING OTHER LADIES TO WATCH YOUR CHANNEL FOR PIE IDEAS. GOD BLESS FROM WEST CENTRAL INDIANA FARMLAND ✝️🇺🇸😊🥧🚜
Cheese cake pie Ingredients: Regular pie crust 2 cream cheese stick 2 eggs 1 evaporated milk can 1 sweetend condensed milk can And in the empty condensed can add milk and pour in to mixture Mix until we’ll combined pour into pie crust and put in the oven for 350 until tooth pick or fork comes out clean best served cold :) thank me later🥰🦋
Now this is a cooking channel I can feel comfortable with. I learn more when I see someone fix something because it shows me why it wouldn't work the other way. Thank you for being real!
Something I learned when blind baking the pre made roll out pie crust, if the oven is not hot enough the dough will slide down the side of the pie plate. I was baking mine at 350. I believe you need to bake them at 415. I also use dried beans when blind baking. I use parchment then fill the pie to where the beans touch the bottom of what I’ve fluted. I hope that makes sense. This is so much fun and I’m looking forward to tomorrows!
Megan, THANK YOU for doing this super fun series! I love all of your videos! I get so upset when I see people making rude comments. Thank you for not letting the ridiculous troll people stop you from creating content. It is such a blessing to be able to peek into your lives and see what you are creating. You have such a gift for making things beautiful and I absolutely love watching you do your various projects!🥰 To all the rude people... Get a life! If you can't say something kind, it's better to say nothing. I don't know if anyone has ever told you this, but guess what.... YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY EVERYTHING that pops into your brain!🤐🤯 Why would anyone go out of their way to make other people feel bad? Please do better. If you don't like something, just move on. Praying for God to bless you, Knorpp family, in every way. 🥰
I'm loving these pie videos. Whoever is editing in the music -- good choices! It's relaxing and I just love the image of the family enjoying pies together. You've inspired me to try making more pies myself!
At the end of September our family is going to put all the sweet pies in a hat, and whichever we draw will be added to our Thanksgiving dessert lineup. Thank you for such a fun month ahead 🥧🥧🥧
I looooove the real life pie baking! Like, that is how it really goes in a real kitchen; the crust shrinks and the butter has to be pulled back out so it can go in at the right time. Love it! Looks delicious. I am enjoying September pie baking month.
Around the mid 80's I was working at a small adolescent drug rehab in Indy. A Wick's pie was on the evening menu about once a month and I always raved about it. One evening as dinner was winding down the cook brought me a whole pie all for myself.. LOL!!
Looking forward to the next pie! I love the reality of your pie making. You are inspiring me to bake for fall. this is putting me in the fall spirit. ❤😁
When you use pre made pie crusts you speak to those of us that either don't have the time for homemade or just don't really wanna go through the trouble. Ty for doing so!
We are enjoying all of the pies! Elijah - you are doing a fantastic job editing. I am loving the music, font/text you use and the funny inserts. Keep them coming! 👍🏻😊
I am a born and bred Hoosier girl living in a Kentucky world 9 years now.. Sugar Cream Pie is my absolute favorite. Usually I would just buy a Wick's but couldn't find one here so I did attempt making my own once. It was okay but Wick's is better. Sugar Cream is the state pie of Indiana!!
This is so fun and we are only on day 4! It would be great if all your recipes end up on your blog and then you will be the ultimate resource when we need pie recipes! 🥧 I'm inspired for sure. Can't wait to see what type is next
And here we are. From 🇿🇦 South Africa watching American Megan making a pie that we thought of as a traditional SA melktert! Different country, different name.
Megan, you inspire me, I might bake my first 🥧 this year. I’ll keep waiting for the easiest pie you’ll bake but this could be it…Hoosier Pie. I’ll be watching:)
Pies always run over for me. Even though I have a self cleaning oven, I put my pie tins on some sort of pan, such as a pizza pan, in case they run over, which they do!
I’m loving this September pie month ! A different pie everyday! Learning so much! Thank you for using pre made pie crust from the store! Makes me feel better because my pie crust just doesn’t turn out. Thumbs up! Please keep the videos coming!
Pearl is cracking me up lately 🤣. She doesn't seem so shy anymore! Has a beautiful smile. This is a fun series, what a great idea! Look up the Amish Grape pie.Its made with grape jelly! Hugs from Missouri 🤗 ❤️
Plus I don't think she pierced with a fork which also helps for shrinkage.. and bringing the crust higher up on the edge and tucking it back under the other way.
Yep - I think that Sugar Cream Pie is the Indiana state pie! Most any restaurant that sells pie slices, will have sugar cream pie unless it is sold out. YUMMY
Was puzzled by the title..Hoosier Pie, 39 years in Indiana never heard of it...then you say sugar cream pie and my mouth salivated lol it was my grandma's favorite, she got me hooked. Homemade ones seem to be better next day, I prefer mine reheated for about 30-45 seconds
I do a similar pie with whole milk and flour - no brown sugar and it goes in an unbaked pie shell. Bake for 40 minutes. We call it Milk Pie and everyone loves it.
Love this series, learning so much and wanting to try them all!! Can you do a month of holiday treats in november or december. Oooo the possibilities. Try pecan tassies, they are like mini pecan pies with a cream cheese crust. Always a hit
Similar to a Chess pie (typically has a tablespoon or 2 of corn meal in addition to other ingredients) or buttermilk pie (substitute buttermilk for half and half). Possibly other adjustments but those are the main differences. Probably mostly dependent on what the baker had on hand at the time.
Oh, in Australia we call that a baked custard tart, not as fancy sounding as your name but one of my faves! Loved seeing you pull the butter out 😂, that’s so me .xx
This series is such fun. I often use frozen pie crusts that just have to be baked either before of with the filling. Just another option. Of course homemade is best but not always practical.
I was at an Amish restaurant that had Hoosier pie on the menu. I was afraid to try it because I had never heard of it . I googled it but I still couldn't conceive how the ingredients went together to taste good. Quite apparently I missed out because yours looks fantastic! 😍
After getting your pie crust dough in the pie pan, stick it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to let the dough chill and rest. It won’t slide down the pan.
Oh, Elijah on a date! Awesome! He is such a kind, knowledgeable, fun person. His date is one lucky girl! He is also very easy on the eyes. I hate I said that, but it’s true!
This is very similar to the French Canadian “tarte au sucre” which translates to “sugar pie” (with no cinnamon on top). Some recipes are much sweeter than others. You can also make a maple version.
Nothing new about this. I'm 60 now & grew up in South Africa with "Melk Tert" (milk tart). It's delicious and is milk, eggs, butter, sugar a bit of cornstarch and a decent home made shortcrust pasrty with grated cinnamon. Baked in the oven.
I am not at all bothered or distracted by your oven's level of cleanliness. But I almost had a heart attack watching you transfer that custard pie without a cookie sheet underneath! You are braver than I! 😆
I use Pillsbury pie crusts or Marie Callender’s every time I make a pie. When I couldn’t tell the difference between those and homemade, I thought why even bother. So it’s all good.😉 I noticed a couple of ingredients that you did a little differently. You didn’t soften the butter and you used half and half instead of whipping cream. I never thought that was even an option. I am going to have to try your methods.
I may have heard wrong but she t first said she was out of half and half and would have to go to the store but when she actually made the pie, I think she said whipping cream. Just thought I’d share before you ruin a pie. I could be wrong though. Happy Pie Making
@@HairInstructor think she said whipping cream but the carton in the video said half and half. That left me a little confused because yeah, there’s definitely a difference.🧐
Watched the pie videos just had to do an Instacart!!! Things I’ve learned, never thought of rolling my crust inward, great concept, that Pearl doesn’t seem to like pie 😂, that others make the same mistakes- had my first blind crust sag this year and it was satisfying to see you pick out that butter! Lesson, you can rebound from mistakes like when I rinsed half of my chili beans in a colander right before company arrived because the sauce was too hot (saving meat, veggie and beans!).
So funny, we just call it sugar cream pie. I’m a Hoosier and have never heard it called Hoosier pie. However sugar cream is the pie indiana is famous for, they even served it deep fried at the state fair. I don’t think there is brown sugar in the traditional sugar cream but I bet it’s a great addition!
I commented on the quiche but the music when people are talking is making it difficult to hear them. Meaghen sounds like she in the distance when talking. Love the pie videos.
I like that you kept recording anyways. It shows not every day is going to run smoothly when you have a specific goal in mind! You still proceeded and didn't give up.
suggest putting the pies on a cookie/baking sheet when putting in the oven. Saves on clean up and easier to slide in and out.
Always!
Oddly she did use a cookie sheet for the first pie, the apple pie, but hasnt since. Saves on cleanup
Danny is so grown up acting. They all are. I’ve enjoyed watching all these adorable kids grow up.

@@KnorppandSouth11 yes, if you want to bake empty shell it would be good to put some dry beans or something inside - as "fake" feeling

I am really enjoying the September Pies video. Also love the family time tasting the pies.

Refrigerate after you put the pie dough in the pan, then into a hot oven. That will help with the dough from falling.
A Hoosier girl here. Thanksgiving and Christmas just aren't the same if there's not at least 2 Wicks Sugar Cream Pies on the Dessert table. Yum!😋
Around the mid 80's I was working at a small adolescent drug rehab in Indy. A Wick's pie was on the evening menu about once a month and I always raved about it. One evening as dinner was winding down the cook brought me a whole pie all for myself.. LOL!!

At some point we need to tell Megan that October also needs a month of daily Yumm -because why not 😘😅
I really enjoy these videos! They’re so relaxing to watch and for bonus points I’m a Hoosier viewer!

I love learning when things don’t go perfect. Who would think of alotnof those things. I do need to make this.
This is what we call a Melk tert in the South African Afrikaans culture
That's right.
Jip was just about to say good Olde melktert or if you are English milktart..
Was thinking the same
And here we are. From 🇿🇦 South Africa watching American Megan making a pie that we thought of as a traditional SA melktert!

I was going to say the same think. God old Melktart...
Megan , this one made me giggle!! the crust, the butter...real life

You need baking weights! I use dried beans. Put in the foil and that will help support the dough as is bakes.
She used baking weights with the second crust!
Plus I don't think she pierced with a fork which also helps for shrinkage.. and bringing the crust higher up on the edge and tucking it back under the other way.

I am only on min. 4 but giggling so much! Very relatable mistakes! I can see myself do those! Way to keep baking on!
Sugar cream pie was my dad’s favorite. We always buy Wick’s brand. Delicious!
Wicks is excellent. We used to go to their factory restaurant.

Just a tip on the pre-made crust. There will be much less shrinkage if you let the dough come to room temperature before baking. Good video as usual!

looks soooo good! Going to make this one too! Making the peanut butter one for tomorrow!
Im loving the pie videos! Living in Indiana, Sugar Creme pie is a staple and I have a similar reaction to Pearl's, everytime I take that first bite 😁
You should pick a day that you have some extra time, make a lot of pie crust Andy stick it in the freezer to make the pie making easier! Yum

Yum you always make me sooooooo hungry they look so good x
