Caught my first ever musky on musky tackle two nights ago. Not used to the fight being so short, kinda like the lighter tackle fight better but I know it’s not good for the fish.
If you’re in for the fight carp are probably your best bet, musky for many is about the bite or maybe the grip and grin for some. Welcome to the addiction though!

When I’m fishing and catch a fish and cut hooks and don’t have my box of pre-sharpened hooks, I will rob a hook off another bait in the box.
Of course I always have my split ring pliers as I don’t use any snaps. Snaps are the weakest link in any Muskie outfit.

Yo brother, gotta pick your brain I got a rod in mind already a g loomis bait casting rod in mind but I need the 400 tranx but do you know if left hand retrieve is the 401? And do you recommend the fast gear ratio or the slower.
401 is Left hand retrieve
What Nathan said and go for the high gear, you can always slow down.

I just caught my first ever musky and it was a 38 inch tiger I don’t think I’ll ever pick anything up other than a musky rod from now on 🤣

Yeah when you watch it as they're fighting those 'skies it hardly rocks at all. Sturdy canoe. Do you ever fly fish for 'skies? Apologies if you have vids out of that, have yet to see them
