Really great idea
this is brilliant
Or a layer of glass for spectators
You, sir, deserve a raise.
I was thinking the same kind of thing. Make it look like an old TV screen, but like you are look out of it not in. Then it could be a view of Etho and Bdubs on a couch like they were playing.
"I wanna do shorter episodes"
>44 Minutes
We don't care how long they are or how long it takes you Etho, we'll always watch them
and for the roof of frogger could you do blue concrete with blue glass gradient to look like a sky, with grey clouds?
To be fair it is shorter than the last two
I think the idea was to make an easy sky, since doing all that would take a lot of time and resources.
even if these were two hours or 10 minutes I would watch them
Laughs in Doc movies
He wants it shorter for him lmao, poor guy is editing hour long videos + all of the off screen stuff
In this episode, Etho:
1. Invents a new super efficient way to collect deepslate
2. Reveals an insane mega moss farm that is not only super efficient but also looks cool as hell
3. Recreates frogger in Minecraft, using an advanced queuing system and randomized delay to offset movement patterns
4. Reveals that he started learning coding when he was EIGHT
5. Reveals that he used to play MMOs with multiple accounts controlled by his feet?
6. Shows off a suuuuper cool enchanting set up with supply visualizers

I commented this too!
Game designer here! I have some ideas for Ravogger to counter the issue where you can just dodge the ravagers by just following them one after the other. One option is to add a time limit to make it so that if you snake through it then you have significantly less time for later sections. If you do add a time limit, having a scoreboard for going faster or different reward tiers for going faster would encourage players to take riskier maneuvers, just like Decked Out! Another option is to add pressure plates w/ lights through the street that dictate how the players have to move across the streets, removing the ability to just chase the carts as they go by. Finally, adding some optional collectibles that drop from the ceiling at the start (maybe a raffle ticket they could redeem after they play?) on the streets would encourage people to book it towards those independently of where the ravagers are, especially if there was a time limit. Also, I would lean into the double-ravager "glitch" as they were getting released. Having two go at the same time would emulate the different size trucks that exist in Frogger as well! Or, honestly, leaving it as is and letting players discover the "exploit" and then teasing them for using it might also just work as well!
Looks really good so far, I love how you're doing this and I'm excited to see how it all comes together!
This is a really great comment
Another option would be to fill the floor with copper bulps, redstone ore or trip wire or something similar so that you can track updates to the block. then you can keep a score of the number of blocks walked (that have been updated) which would work similar to the time panalty
Or to replace the floor with slime/honey blocks under carpets to get jump effects or slow the player down at the harder lanes
Using walls or glass panes over the track and one block before and after could create lanes when crossing to prevent ravager chasing as well. I'd imagine the increase in difficulty for the water area will counter the ease of the roads as Etho already mentioned, though.
Yeah that would really help
The statues are amazing, really tied Joel’s area all together. Whoever did it has a great eye for builds. I think they were perfect where they were actually.
22:27 Bdubs politely going "s'cuse me, guys! s'cuse me!" while walking past a bunch of angry ravagers is HILARIOUS
That’s almost Canadian! lol
Oh gosh... I was dying!! 🤣

Bdubs always has random hilarious moments. One of mt faves was when him grian and a few other stole the stuff from the city and hid it underground and they trapped an enderman and made it mad then bdubs stood next to it and looked into the camera with his big smile 😭💀

When in doubt, C4.
Things that made me smile this episode.
1/ Watching the ravagers watch you.

Thanks for the episode!

For the frogger game, Instead of shortening the length of the roads, you can add obstacles like trash cans, benches, and stop signs. This means you have to navigate around the obstacles while dodging the ravagers. So you can’t just run straight through it.
I'd be concerned about that killing the ravagers

"it's creative liberties at this point because we never saw the sky in frogger"... Lol I love bdubs. I wasn't even kinda thinking about it like that
Above Frogger, you could place a glass walkway, the sky idea would still be feasible, but would allow Hermits to have a bit of the classical view while the competitor makes their attempt. :)
Would also make a nice store floor
And then you gotta make people who beat the game walk through the store, amusement park-style. lmao I love it
as well as a good place to put TNT =P
You know, I was with the idea of a sky design, but I really like this one. Make it one of the more clear glass so the actual sky is visible.
Yeah!! Like a light blue concrete ceiling, then a two block air space and then a glass floor/ceiling…you could put light blocks and all sorts of detailing in that way..!
The Etho lore in this video is a beautiful story from his childhood about perseverance and passion, and a new absolutely unhinged revelation about his mmorpg past. Amazing
Etho is really insanely good at the fundamental red stone logics and stuff like, that Ravager queueing system is SO smart.
The statues in front of Etho's base reminded me so much of the statues building episode from the Mindcrack server. Another amazing episode.
The moment he brought up building everyone like that all I could think about was Guude's statues of all the players on Mindcrack
I feel like one of Etho's major arcs in the last couple of years is finding the perfect method to farm up deepslate. And it's very funny because he comes up with such wacky solutions.
To be more accurate, farming deep slate without duping tnt. At this point I REALLY wish for a wand farm, so with the crafter we have a tnt factory… it would solve so much…
@@jeanlou3 Autocrafter setup to make tnt minecarts, slimeblock launch them and then advance by a set amount and have it so you trigger it via infinity bow then run back and forth before triggering it for the next pass.
So basically the same thing he did here only horizontally instead of vertically combined with a tunnel bore with autocrafting only sideways opposed to vertically via gravity so you don't have to stop at bedrock and move/rebuild everything all the time (and fly back and forth getting 'sploded and trying to do crap in a hurry without losing everything).
This is way easier to do piecemeal yeah, but my way is superior as far as logistics and resources are concerned and also one and done/tileable.
Edit: The real answer however is just dupe the TNT though cuz that's ridiculous and doesn't make any sense.
If it's doable in game without mods it's valid. That's not "cheating" it's "emergent gameplay". In other words, the same thing as most of the buggy redstone mechanics he hypocritically wouldn't go without such as BUD detection/quasi-connectivity (which eventually led to the observer the EXACT same way sand and TNT duping is leading to renewable sand ;)
Yes, Doc was (and still is) objectively correct. People can play however they want. Totally fine to be a masochist and handicap yourself all day. Nobody cares so long as you don't ACTUALLY lie, cheat or steal (or force your lunacy on others lol).
Sorry for the PSA but it needed to be pointed out as Hermitcraft (a server that's all SUPPOSED to be about individualism, diversity and creativity) has a nasty collectivist/totalitarian streak that slips through the facade on occasion (no matter how much they try to hide it).
Bear in mind i'm not blaming Etho (or anyone for that matter) as i HIGHLY doubt it was done out of actual malice (well, at least i hope not) but a small touch of generalized ignorance and intolerance can often go a long way when ppl start getting tribal over it.
@@AnoneemusNoename He just doesn't like TNT duping, it's not that deep, you went on a big tangent about totalitarianism and tribalism and I'm frankly appalled by the comparison.

Etho should have a look at the obsession graph on the subreddit
For anyone wondering, someone went and counted how far into every video that Etho and Joel(and some others) say eachother's names.
Baisically, Etho, on average, says Joel's name 64.16% into the episodes
Whereas Joel, on average, says Etho's name 41.88% into the video
And that, my fellow Ethogirls, is definately INDISPUTABLE evidence, that Joel is more obsessed with Etho😊
But doesnt that mean Etho says Joels name more... so hes more obsessed?
@@lisaverbunt7303I don't think it counted the frequency. Just how soon the name was mentioned. So Joel says Etho earlier in his videos than Etho says Joel.
@@SharksFan1997
Yepp, completely correct, it's not counted by frequency, but by percentage of time, or in other words, how soon into the video they mentioned eachother's names!
For anyone still confused, go to the Ethoslab subreddit and find the post, I think it's by u/DeadSpiderInPocket and it's called 'Etho obsession graph'
Also, I would just like to add, that Etho's videos are about double the length of Joel's video, meaning that Joel says Etho name even more early and often compared to Etho.
Because if you do the math, 41.88% of an almost 21minute long video(Joel's) is shorter than 41.88% of an over 40 minute video(Etho's) and especially a lot shorter(just like their height irl) than 64.16% of that over 40minute long episode.
Just saying, that makes Joel EVEN more obsessed compared to Etho
Moral of the story; Joel is sooo obsessed with Etho, and Etho is TOTALLY not!!❤
@@novaintemittnamn
now we just need data on Etho saying "Etho" to compare whether Etho is more obsessed with Etho.
talk about obsession
For the Frogger game: Throw some soul sand around on the roads to make it a bit more difficult. Also, I think a cool idea would be to make a small chamber (even if it’s just 4 pistons around you) that makes a slowness potion get thrown down from the ceiling, and then while that’s happening, that’s when the ravages start filling in.
This is a good idea! I think maybe it would also be fun for the players to hold crouch and jump across instead of run!
11:00 XO means hugs and neck kisses!
maybe Etho wrote it and was just bluffing, who knows
"Is the snow for anything like alignment?"

If anyone wants to know its a pretty useful mechanic, basically if you drop an item into powdered snow it loses x, z momentum and will drop straight downwards so you dont need to worry about a downwards pipe to ensure the item lands on the block you want it to

Probably stacks up the bonemeal a little bit so it also reduces lag just a tiny bit.

That was definitely a programming moment! Make it work however you can XD

@@RealRaven6229 Actually yes you should in the case of programming tbh as you can test if work arounds and develop skills. In other cases no you shouldn't but in this case it's fine lol

Amazing thumbnail, the Etho statues are sure to have Joel think that Etho thinks he's a massive weirdo 😂 love the dynamic of Etho who always has several layers to his plans and then Joel who is just the least subtle person ever (and also quite gullible) 😅
Each time I learn something new about Etho, I get more and more convinced he keeps anonymous because he's at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters
he has hands for feet and two elbow joints in each arm
Maybe his real name is Scott Summers since he'd be leading the team at this point.
I think nearly all hermits would make a full episode about building that moss farm. Etho’s just like “here it is” and then spends the whole episode on other stuff. These episodes are packed with good stuff
Something about Etho and Bdubs' dynamic is so refreshing to watch! A lot of time hanging with other hermits tends to be a lot of having fun and joking around and it's all around a great time, but when Etho and Bdubs are working together on a project like this it's really nice to see that they're genuinely just good friends hanging out. There's obviously still lots of fun goofing off and whatnot, but also just generally chatting with eachother and figuring stuff out together. Something about it just feels so real.

Etho was SO adamant he wasn't the weirdest one in Mumbo's Freak Show and yet he KNEW he had been playing MMORPGs with his feet!
Mumbo's going to be demanding a recount after this.
I love how much Etho is enjoying Hermitcraft this season, the more compact layout is really helping out with fun stuff spontaneously happening
I feel like lingering potions of slowness would remove the "cheese" stratergy (30:11) where you just follow the ravagers that pass. It doesn't completely get rid of the strat, but it will force the players to be a bit more mindful when strafing back and forth. Another idea I have with the potions is to sometimes have little events like "rain" (splash potions fall from ceiling) or "flood" (water flows around the track) to make the path a little harder to traverse
You should put a few frogs (on leads) at the end of the frogger game like how there are some in the original game.
Also, you should connect the “on” switch to a box so it gets activated when a player puts their payment in and it starts to gear up the ravangers.
Maybe you should have it set on a timer with maybe a 3,2,1 ding noise to tell the hermit to get to the start which is where a gate is that gets opened. Doing this just allows the ravangers to get flowing into the system.
Also, you could always make two separate sections of ravangers, 1 for the street, the other the river part so there doesn’t end up with a gap. It would help so u don’t need to get so many more ravangers to just fill up the empty pocket. 🤷♀️
35:22
At this point, can Etho's gaming posture get any weirder? Not only is there the whole mess with the desk, but now feet gaming has been added to the mix!
it painted an image in my head of Kakashi being a stereotypical mmo otaku playing with both his hands and feet. Like how it's often depicted in anime lol
For the frogger game, you could put dispensers in the ceiling. The hermits get to keep what they collect but they must make it across all 5 times.
“Its a bit much” Etho I’ve been watching doc’s videos. This is an incredibly tame amount of moss lmao
his moss is not even teleporting.
For frogger, you could add a mix of soul sand and regular blocks to the road and then use carpet to cover it up. This would roughly keep the aesthetic while making the game a bit more difficult as speed would be a little unpredictable.
You could do a glass ceiling with a viewing room. The viewing room could be light blue with clouds so it still keeps the immersion. Maybe give the players above disruptive options? Snow ball launchers? Splash potion droppers?
Oh and a highscore board!
#34 on Trending, 2 days after release, and I know this isn't the first Etho video to trend like this. It always amazes me how successful a quality videos and a loyal fanbase can be, considering how much RUclipsrs try to play the algorithm to get views. Great job, Etho, and thanks for all of your hard work to entertain us!
For the frogger's ceiling, cover it in glass, then the other side of the glass is a big Joel's face looking down as if he's the one playing the game and the player is the character. Joel's obsession with Etho has modded his frogger game into Etho themed..
That would be so funny.
I was thinking something similar, like from the opposite perspective of the person playing the game on the other side of the arcade machine glass
You deserve a raise for that idea.
You and Bdubs working together (or interacting in general), always leads to my favorite moments. There's such an awesome friendship between you two that nothing ever seems forced and you both seem to be having a great time.
True. It’s because they’re both legends and grew up into legendary status together. They were Minecraft AND RUclips kids together. Same with Doc. Years ago when Doc was doing a ‘pains of Mojang selling to Microsoft and the danger of MC videos being demonetized’ he talked about a world where he couldn’t watch Etho videos and how it was a world he wouldn’t want to live in.
I really enjoyed Etho's interactions with Tango, Iskall, Joell, Scar, etc. this episode too! Seems like they're all having fun
#30 on trending. Not only is Etho the most beloved Minecrafter (maybe not most watched, or even "best") but certainly the most beholden by his fan base, and even his fellow gamers, i dare say.
Regarding chasing the ravagers making it easy - maybe you could have the ravagers randomly stomp on the brakes (stop abruptly for a couple seconds), or even have the lanes randomly reverse direction.
Or maybe hazards on the roads to make it more difficult to travel too far along the lanes - maybe "oil spills" formed from soul sand, or "weeds" made from bushes and/or wither roses.
God I love how the moss farm looks, the bonemeal falling down past the platforms is such a great touch. There's an art to making redstone not just functional but also pleasing to the eye, and I think you're one of the best at it
make the frogger ceiling open up like a lucid dream where a visage of Joehills is staring into the arcade machine with excitement on his face! It would be AMAZING!
I think one way to make the road section of frogger a little more challenging would be to add some obstacles into the road part that you run on like some little cars or stop signs, etc. just something for the player to have to avoid and run around for more challenge
I don't really mind the 40-50 minute long episodes, it's like mini movies which I love! ❤
There is something just so visually pleasing about the moss farm with its falling bonemeal and the frogger game with the ravagers just rolling by.
It would seem etho paid more attention to the comments than he did Gem. Keeping to those long videos instead of the shorter ones!

Hey Etho,
I remember the frogger story from when you tried to make frogger on your singleplayer server. I remember hearing it as I was just starting to get into coding in high school. Not sure how long ago that's been now, but years later, I am now graduating with a degree in Software Engineering! If I recall, the singleplayer version was very similar to the Hermitcraft version, but now you're using ravagers and other tech for the rail system, which I think makes this completely worthwhile! Especially since the project is so personal to you! Thank you for years of great content, and keep up the good work!

That story about playing the games with your feet reminded me when I was younger. I sunk many hours into Need for Speed Carbon and became particularly good at drift races. I spent hours and hours every weekend for about 5 years playing that same race because I was addicted to try and constantly beat my own score. I would ask my brother to try and beat my score and he could never come close. He never had the patience to play games so I challenged him that I could still beat him even if I play using my feet. The challenge was enough to keep him playing and I managed to absolutely floor him while playing the game with my feet.
10:55 in the UK ending off a note with an X or an O means a hug/kiss, so this is effectively saying JOEL HUGS AND KISSES
I wondered if it was that, or XD, yay limited pixel fonts :)
You know what’s funnier is that doc wrote Joel XO not even Joel himself XD at this point the hermits are just trolling them both 😂
39:20 actually, there are "wait a minutes" during countdowns when launching a SpaceX rocket. They're called "holds". They have all sorts of checks at various points in the countdown, and if they notice anything suspicious, they call a hold until they make sure it's all good.

Some frogger thoughts:
- Potions of turtle master would be fun with slowness and resistance.
- Potion arrow dispensers would be interesting. Typically, it is a shorter effect time, and you could easily randomize what is sent and have it only affect the player.
- Glass pillars to create some lanes could eliminate the ability to chase the ravager.
-Soul sand or honey blocks would make it fun to mix up or even blue ice so that you slide around when you might not want to.
- Pistons to raise or lower obstacles would be interesting.
- I wonder if boats on blue ice could be used to make them move even faster? You would need a dedicated ravanger on that lane?
Overall, it seems like a really fun project and game! I hope you are able to make it the way you want it and that the hermits have fun with it.
It really feels like Etho is a lot happier or more energetic recently it’s so uplifting, it’s infectious.
Though that might just me projecting after another Etho upload :)

NO WAY that's got to be one of Etho's craziest deaths yet
Well now I am really looking forward to Joel's next episode. Gotta get that live reaction to the statues and the message
Etho, you could add splash potion of slowness as traps that periodically trigger along the road which disincentivize players who stay in the road for too long.
That moss farm is sick. It really does feel like a factory, not just a big farm.
I’m so excited to see how it looks fully cleaned up. Same with frogger. It’s so satisfying to see it all become so pretty on top of being so functional
"speaking of obsessions" was so brutal xD
Turn one of the statues into Joel, and make them hold hands
Have you considered having 2 or three ravagers dedicated to each lane where they may bounce each other back in other directions to provide the randomness you’re looking for? Idk if that would cause issues with carts stopping or not but it’s an idea. I also was a huge Frogger addict. I used to play it with my grandpa on Atari. ❤️ I love that you’re making this.
I find redstone mindboggling! But for some reason when etho explains it, it somehow makes sense and seems straight-forward. One of the many reasons to love etho.
Just when work was at a lull, Etho comes to the rescue!
