Welcome to Hermitcraft Season 10 - Episode 15! I finish my mega sand and gravel shop build in the Hermitcraft shopping district today. I also meet up with Doc and Cub where they launch me 4 million blocks away and end up in the Minecraft far lands. I have no idea how this happened or how I'm going to get back. Congratulations Scar! You're only the second (officially) person to be launched at a fraction of the speed of light in the HermitCraft server! But to answer your question, you have to walk about 800 blocks towards where Doc landed. You missed the landing. The Mass Effect gun has a few... bugs.

Dolphins stop moving when out of render distance so if under the water, they suffocate, and if out of the water, they dry up. Basically, you need a soul sand floor to let them breath.
And WITH a soulsand floor, there will be no frolicking or jumping and you need a roof on the water to keep them from being pushed up and out
The only solution I can think of is to set up a system to replace the whole soulsand floor when you want to see them swim around and put it back when you're done while also opening the roof to let them jump and close it again when the soulsand is turned on

Restraining oneself from talking about Star Wars is like listening to a metal song on moderate volume.
That was certainly a ride at the end.
For those who are worried, scar has plenty of ways to get back and even explore the far lands if he wants to.
1. He has 3 (or 4) ender chests so he can break 2 with a fortune pick to get obsidian for a portal.
2. Someone mentioned that he's about 700 blocks from where doc landed, so he could fly there and use that portal.
3. To get back, doc gave scar an additional ender chest and a shulker box and iirc scar had a flint and steel on him, so as long as scar doesnt set his spawn point out there, he can easily return the same way doc did (pack his things up in the shulker into his ender chest and use the flint and steel on himself to respawn at spawn (or his bed)).
Even if he somehow managed to make a bed and set his spawn, he could always just break that again.

I don't know if you've tested this yet, but if you made the laser beam of the death star narrower at the top and wider at the bottom, it would increase the perceived scale of the build from the ground.

You could say, Scar was launched to a Galaxy far far away.
Potential fix for the dolphin situation (they'll probably die again):
[Redstone warning]
Use a sculk sensor to detect the dolphin moving in the tank, when the dolphin is unloaded (Redstone still needs to be loaded, potentially use a chunk loader if it fails otherwise) it won't move and thus the sensor doesn't get triggered meaning a Redstone capacitor/signal extender would run out after a moment. Following this the floor of the aquarium would be switched out with soul sand (depending on dolphin hitbox and how the bubbles affect them some blocks could be left out without consequence) this makes sure they can breathe or it pushes them upwards where you can have air pockets so they can breathe.
Well... being sent out 4 million blocks is a great way to start a solo series on Hermitcraft. One way to add a twist to the season! You're just a little funky ghost that shows up in voice chat groups now. "Ah it's like I can still hear his voice".

It would have been a perfect opportunity for him to employ the Impulse hot and spicy goat horn

If you’re a certain distance away, the dolphin won’t move, but unfortunately still needs to breathe air so it will suffocate. 🤦♀️

And it looks amazing! Except the only thing is when something really hot hits sand it turns into glass, not stone and blackstone! (For the scorch mark)
@@Auoun *pushes up glasses* Not that it really matters, but Tatooine is a desert planet, whereas the type of sand used to make glass needs a fair amount of silica. In other words, beach or dried up ocean sand. Given the twin suns, it is likely that Tatooine never had much in the way of oceans, and thus its sand would be unsuitable to make glass.
Is a "mini-mega base" a just a base?
@@edwardthompson3377 just to out nerd you there again, it is mentioned there was a period of time where Tatooine had vast oceans, so even if in practicality it doesnt make much sense with the suns, star wars never did make much sense astrologically, however the rule of cool exists for a reason. Also describing the destruction of a world as glassing will never not be fun

So about the dolphin: sorry Scar, but you're not going to be able to keep one. Not in that tank, anyway. See, dolphins in Minecraft, like in real life, need both air and water to survive. However, Minecraft does this thing where it shuts off a mob's AI when no player is close enough. This causes the dolphin to stop moving, but doesn't stop its air supply from running out, meaning all dolphins in Minecraft are doomed the second a player leaves the area. The only way to keep one alive is to put it in a bubble column that it can't swim out of.
The alternative is always fully leaving the area quickly enough that the chunks are unloaded, and never being in the ring between simulation distance and render distance for longer than 2 minutes (I think)
would it work to set up a chunk loader to keep them moving? Certainly not the most lag friendly thing, but I wonder if it would work.
@@LegorocketsAnimation : No, the AI shuts off based on player distance, not whether the chunk is loaded. If your render distance is high enough, you can actually see it happen, as Grian demonstrated last season. In fact, unloading them would save them because it would completely stop anything in the chunk from happening, so their air wouldn't decrease.

It sounds like he shifted gears between seasons. When he originally talked about his plans for his S10 base, he mentioned a Star Wars theme, but it seems like that has been moved to S11. Considering how many other Hermits have mentioned changing their plans for this season in favor of a more relaxed vibe, it makes sense.
We need more Collaborate Bases next season I'd love to see atleast several groups lol

#explosion question: Mythbusters explosions (my only visual experience) show lots of smoke and dust, but the flash is generally momentary. Any fire that results is dependent on the item exploded….if it’s incendiary, you get fire. So, dealer’s choice on your crater. If there’s stuff down there that catches fire momentarily before the explosion pressure puts it out, then keep the orange.
There is a mod that adds your EXACT idea into Minecraft! There are different colors of crystals in Quark (Forge only as of now, but a Fabric release is pending), that you can craft into different colored lanterns, or add to beacons to change their colors, or combine to create a rainbow shimmer for your enchanted armor and tools!

For the crater I’d put in some glowing blocks like magma cubes to really show it being blown up.
I respect the dedication to continue the build and not get distracted by whatever happens with ore mountain, but now we won’t know as Scar is lost.

The dolphin is almost impossible to keep alive in a tank.
To survive, they have to have access to both air and water.
However, their AI movement distance is shorter than render distance. So when you’re far away from the tank, the dolphin is rendered in but not actively swimming/moving.
So the dolphin drowns.
Funny how Mojang is so concerned about how players treat animals in game but then also accidentally made the dolphins delete themselves via in game mechanics.
Only solution i believe is to put soul-sand underneath so you have the bubble column keeping it submerged but still in air.
There is some soul sand in the tank, but it does very little if the dolphin stops moving outside of it.
it either drowns on water or it suffocates on air, no wonder you barely see dolphins irl

Your dolphin keeps dying because if you go too far away from it then its ai turns off and that means that it will stop getting air, making it drown. You can solve the problem by making the whole fish tank into bubble columns
I think thinning out the glass a bit is the way to go, but it's fine both ways!
Maybe add some frog lights to the explosion (or gloom light or whatever it's called) so it's actually brighter and not, well, transparent and glassy-lookin?

Realtalk just sprinkling glow lichen all over them would help with both lighting and with adding more of a "crackly" look to the beam, plus yeah, froglights and shroomlights wherever they'd fit.

Scar, this brings me a lot of happiness because I had a Minecraft world my dad and I played on for ages. On that world we built a Death Star. But the crazy part is that part of a separate build, we made a crater very similar to yours. It did not have sand, but used black and brown concrete as the crater with a big meteor in the sky

Also, you bailed on the pig early with the water bottle, but should only be about 700 blocks away from a portal where you can deposit your stuff and then die and respawn.
From my perspective I think the crater needs to be slightly deeper or the blast zone slightly wider to accommodate the laser beam and explosion. I love the way the light/glass block colours collide with the rock and send everything up into the air, I just think there needs to be a bit more deepslate to offset the beautiful colours! You've done an amazing job, it looks incredible either way, it's such a cool concept for a build and I'm really impressed with your dedication to bringing your star wars fandom to life in minecraft. Don't apologise for being a nerd, we love you for it
I think thinning out the glass would be nice. I bet you could make it look more explode-y by adding light sources down there to make it glow! I’m thinking ochre frog lights, and maybe actual fire as long as fire tick is off?

Only on hermitcraft someone can discover a huge snail helicopter right above their base that blew through their mountain made of ore while they are flying on a elytra with a dolphine tied to them on a string.
i think thinning out the glass would give it more of an impact! maybe like a few seconds after the explosion, with the cloud being further dissipated?
From what I remember, I believe turtles need about a 5 by 5 area to hatch. And potentially access to water. Don´t know exactly what they need, but I´m very certain they need more than your eggs have.
the only requirement turtle eggs need is being placed on sand
People keep sleeping so that's what is delaying the turtle hatching.
I think what you could do is thin out the glass at the bottom of the laser BUT you could use some molten blocks at the bottom of the hole to help imply the explosion/burning! That way you could have the best parts of the laser explosion and the effect of the hole burnt to a crisp!
I really liked the darkness of the scorch mark before the glass. I think less grey/smoke would help it pop, which would align with it being a fresh/in process blast
Even the safe part of the Death Scar isn't Scar-safe. Just living up to it's name, I guess.
Comparing coordinates with Docm's landing, scar has ended up about 700 blocks far from his landing. Not bad!
Scar: Flies immediately into wall 3 ft away and dies / can't defeat a single Skeleton.
Also Scar: Aerial manoeuvres a dolphin over a few hundred blocks into a 1 wide gap on his first attempt.
Scar, when you make it back to your base, put a couple of iron golems in the Death Star to clean up the mobs. Then you can light it up. Love the crater - but, yes, thin out the glass a bit so we can admire it better.

Something cool would be that it’s melting some of the nearby sand into glass. You could also add to the laser by making it look like it’s heating the atmosphere around it.
Scar should make a dolphin breeding station, and also sell them through his all the mobs permit 😊

Reduce some orange glass imo, the crater looks sooooo good with scorch marks. Really great build btw.
I can't wait to see Doc do this to Grian and Mumbo next. 100% wanted his revenge for the destruction of his tunnel bore and the covering of his base to be a one way ender pearl launcher, but this is even better.

I think the dark crater being a subtle detail is nice. The explosion adds a ton, and reducing its scale does a disservice to the might of your fully operational battle station.

Personally, I would enjoy a thinning of the glass to see more of the crater burns, even if only a little to heighten the contrast.
