Good 'how to' video though.
Del, you made the cat removal simpler than other channels, I removed mine on a speed twin and replaced it with an X-pipe (TEC), quite a fiddly exercise as I recall. I fitted the Vance and Hines silencers and what a sound improvement!
Great video. I have had no interest at all in changing the stock pipes but I think you make just changed my mind. Thanks for taking the time to walk us through the process too. Top man.

I fitted a Tec 2 into 2 shortie system to that bike and wow it sounded great. I did put the baffles back in after 6 months as it was so loud, even with ear plugs in!
Spot on Del, I followed every step and all is fitted mate. Only issue I had, the exhaust springs were very loose, even checked to make sure all the pipes were in line and full connected. The springs seem too big mate, I might just use lock wire instead. I can do a tidy job that way. 👍🏻
Hi Oli, i had the same with mine, two of my springs were loose, you can just use some pliers and bend back the loops on the pipe a little at each end of the spring and it'll tighten up..works every time buddy.! Good choice on the exhaust, i hope you like the sound, im running mine with a Thruxton baffle in, nice and loud but not hollow or empty sounding.. Hi mate, thanks for your kind words, always appreciated... we hope life is ok there with you, this is difficult time for many, so stay safe and keep in touch, all the very best, D&Px
I have to say Del I prefer the baffle in and could do with it being a black exhaust ;-) ; is it just me or did that end can weld (at 17:27) look like a child had done it?
It would be pretty cool to ceracote the system, or you can alternatively mirror polish it, it is top quality stainless. They are supplied in a brush satin finish, which is great because that keeps the cost down and you can choose if you want to spend the extra money for a ceramic coating or polishing.
@@Moonfleet41 polishing? what's that? I've gone for understated now I'm older. You mean keep the costs down to pay for proper welding, not monkey welds, how did they look to you Del? They look pretty shocking to me/us!
@@andyhunter2324 Ha ha, sounds a bit like that welding snobbery i spoke of last week... TBH mate, ive seen worse welds on a lot of well known and popular race cans, and take a squint at the Factory welds on the Cat heat shield at 10:00 ! and there are half a dozen more welds on the bike that you would find 'scathe worthy' im sure..! it is what it is mate.. a full two into one system for £289 !!!!!!
@@Moonfleet41 not a bad price, and I'm not a weld snob (I bought a welder, two actually after watching your videos), I like to have a go at new skills, just done up my Sporty - no welding, just callipers and master cylinders rebuilds and other bits and bobs, keep up the great content - it inspires more than you think.
I saw two O2 sensors being disconnected from the stock pipes but with the 2x1 what happens to the redundant O2 sensor? Amazing weight savings with the aftermarket pipes too 👍
The original system is also 2-into-1 as both downpipes go straight in to the cat, then separate again in to two silencers, and I put both O2 sensors back in to the two downpipes, one in each!
Great vid, helped enormously when I fitted one to my T100. One problem, the brake fouls with the exhaust even without the 12mm spacer! With it fitted can’t use the brake, is it a different brake lever on the T100?
You're not wrong Abz' it does have more of a hollow sound, but the full baffle also makes it sound a but 'fluffy... the best sound is to cut the baffle in half, so it's open, but removes the hollow resonance. ! kind or the best of both sounds.!
You are a master of your craft Del! Clear precise instructions with all the minushia of understanding just what's to be expected. Does the centre stand HAVE to go with this exhaust system or are you just trying to shed weight?
Thank you for your kind words im glad you enjoyed the video. I believe, from memory, that this exhaust does foul on the stand on the cross pipe... but if you check the link in the description, it will take you to the TEC website for the pipe and it will make it clear on there..
Not at all mate, pointless as there's no tuning available on this particular model, the ECU is locked, however, the exhaust was designed around the parameters of this bike, and it's ECU will re-adjust with a 10min set up run and fuel just fine... it was designed that way. You can add a fuel booster plug, which we will be doing and that gives a little richer mixture on pull away and acceleration... but that's not necessary for it to run safely, that's just an improvement if you want it!
@@Moonfleet41 I have heard of the ecu adapting before but it was on a saab. People would pull the fuse to the ecu to reset all the fuel trimming parameters to get a bit more umph for a few hundred miles! It made a huge difference to sound didn't it👍 did you get a chance to test ride it? Bet it sounded super 👌ahhh yeah I've seen a few vids pop up about those power commanders! Have you ever fitted one?
I didn't design it, but speaking to the guy who did, the T-piece provides back pressure and increases low down torque, the fast the flow, the more revs you need, and there was extensive dyno development to create this exhaust, and having ridden it, it seriously works, more low down grunt than normal and a really pleasing torque surge from as a low as 2k revs!
Yeah, i have a DB meter.. but far too much echo in my place, scrambles the reading, ill have to do it outdoors for best effect, so maybe once its finished..!
I presume you mean centre stand Nick, but you don't have to remove it at all, that's just a choice to capitalise on the weight saving, it's perfectly ok to run the main stand if you wish, in fact, TEC will provide free of charge a striker plate in the kit to act as a stop for the stand, which you'll need having removed the left pipe which it used to strike against... it will look a little odd with the big stand hook sticking out in the absence of the pipe, but it still functions perfectly normally!
Excellent video with some great tips. I'd fit one to my Street Twin, if I could figure out how to get the frame rail loose with no centre stand fitted. Can't put it on the side stand, that's attached to the rail. Seems a bit daft to spend 100 quid on one just to use to fit the exhaust and then take it off again. Any ideas?
Hi Pete, totally agree, why would you buy a main stand for one job... but how about this option, it's a set of paddock stand bobbins that slip through the centre of your rear axle, then you can just pop a paddock stand under the rear and get it up nice and safe... if you don't have a paddock stand, then maybe consider it as an investment, it's perfect for chain adjustment and lubrication and even winter storage... www.tecbikeparts.com/product/street-twin-street-cup-street-scrambler-paddock-stand-bobbins-axle-adapter-bobbins-kit/
@@Moonfleet41 That was exactly my question. I figured that on my T120, I need to put it on the center stand to complete the removal of the converter, and then back to the side stand after everything is tied up and then proceed with the removal of the center stand... Makes sense?
Have you had any issues after installing this system? Local dealer told me it needs a power commander if I do this system. They said it will damage the engine long term if not tuned correctly.
None what so ever, watch again at 19:10 for an explanation how to re-tune it, and at 20:54 for a demonstration.. If you're still not sure, speak directly with TEC Bike Parts, this is their system, they designed it to work with the ECU and will confirm these procedures mate !
Ok, just worth mentioning, this bike was a "Euro4" engine, so this information pertains to that... but the Euro5, later engines have a couple of further restrictions.. TEC will also confirm this !
I'm not sure what's going on between us(my Mrs thinks we're chatting). I purchase my first Harley- a Dyna a little while ago. Within weeks, you too purchased a harley & watching you, gave me the b#lls to do my own servicing etc. 2 months ago, I purchased a brand new T100 black. Which I understand is structurally very simular to the T120. So I'm very much looking forward to following you progress on this bike.
Hello, is this a euro 4 or euro 5 model of the cat converter, I know some are welded I just don't know which one? Mine looks as it might be welded and wont come out the same I don't think. Thanks
Yes my friend, it most certainly is, it is designed to accommodate the stand, so if you're going to keep yours, make it clear with your order when you contact TEC and they will include a free bracket that fits on the left hand side for the centre stand to strike against in the rest position!
Great work as always I'm not saying it will work in this case but where I've completely needed to remove a bolt and the nut would be difficult to relocate I have used a little hot glue just to hold the nut in place provided I could unbolt the last few threads by hand
That's a cool trick Ken, and I can see the common sense in that, fortunately Triumph have thought this one through, they know it's a totally inaccessible nut, but they give you just enough room to put a spanner on it and they make it a lock nut, so when you undo it, you can take it right to the end of the bolt and it will stay there... and thanks again for the glue trick, noted for the future!

Nice! Although I do think the loss of symmetry is a bit of a shame...love twin pipes me...great vid as ever mate. Is the bike yours? Will we see it again??
Hi buddy, symmetry would have been nice with the factory exhaust, but if you take a close look at the comparison shot, it doesn't have it... the left hand silencer is 1/2" lower and 3/4" further inboard, which tilts all my buttons and I guess we can sacrifice the OCD for a 2 stone weight saving any day! Just a little makeover series for now... and you will see it again!
@@Moonfleet41 ....actually now you mention it the twin exhausts on my Speed twin aren't fully symmetrical either!! Great bikes though these 1200 Bonnies....
Read up on the TEC website (I've left a link in the description), there are lot's of benefits as well as power, naturally the huge saving in weight which will vastly improve handling, and with other mods such as the fuel plug, and even the TEC cam upgrade, you can really make them fly..!
TEC have them if you want one.! have fun and ride safe aye.. Del.
Great job Del, sounds sweet and looks cool with the new pipe. Penny and you have a good week and stay safe mate. Cheers
Hi mate, thanks for your kind words, always appreciated... we hope life is ok there with you, this is difficult time for many, so stay safe and keep in touch, all the very best, D&Px
Fantastic video bike looked amazing with the standard pipes off stay safe looking forward to next one 🇬🇧👍🏻
Thanks Richard, you are very kind mate, you stay safe too, crazy times aye.
@@Moonfleet41 yes mate they are
Man thats a beautiful exhaust system for that bike Del...makes a great note as well!...i really like triumph motorcycles....
I have to say Del I prefer the baffle in and could do with it being a black exhaust ;-) ; is it just me or did that end can weld (at 17:27) look like a child had done it?
I too noticed the welds 😬
That weight reduction alone is going to make such a difference to the bikes performance, handling and braking. Looks and sounds so much better.
You're dead right my friend, weight reduction is a legitimate performance enhancing attribute!
@@Moonfleet41 thanks for the reply. I missed that part, my bad 👍
Great vid, helped enormously when I fitted one to my T100. One problem, the brake fouls with the exhaust even without the 12mm spacer! With it fitted can’t use the brake, is it a different brake lever on the T100?
Check this directly with 'TEC bike parts' as they have all the specifications and can guide you on any unique fitment issues you may be having..!
Sounds and looks much better.
Much nicer look with the Rebel Exhaust.
Love that bike, absolutely stunning. i would love one
How to make a perfect bike perfecter 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 brilliant del as always
Hi Hatthew, "Perfecter" ! im going to use that word at least three times this week... awesome.! thanks buddy.
What about the center stand?
What about it?
Nice - perfectly explained 👌
Nice video Del. I love the sound with the baffle in. It gives me the feeling that the sound without the baffle, although louder, is a bit hollow.
You're not wrong Abz' it does have more of a hollow sound, but the full baffle also makes it sound a but 'fluffy... the best sound is to cut the baffle in half, so it's open, but removes the hollow resonance. ! kind or the best of both sounds.!
Thanks for the video
You are a master of your craft Del! Clear precise instructions with all the minushia of understanding just what's to be expected. Does the centre stand HAVE to go with this exhaust system or are you just trying to shed weight?
Thank you for your kind words im glad you enjoyed the video. I believe, from memory, that this exhaust does foul on the stand on the cross pipe... but if you check the link in the description, it will take you to the TEC website for the pipe and it will make it clear on there..
Del that pipe looks lovely nice job mate.
Best job !! thx 4 the video.Great sound !! brutal !! suena de maravilla , sobretodo sin el dbkiller , gracias por tus videos !!👍✌
Would it be best to visit a tuner for ECM tweaking after fitting that exhaust? Obviously it's a lot more free flowing?
Have you ever fitted one?
sounds alot better....im not convinced about exhaust flow through that T junction when there looks to be space for something of a Y junction.
Which way wrong does the copper ring gasket go? reading a few different opinions online and I'm not sure which was is correct.
An amazing difference, good job 😎👍🏼
Sounds awesome but I can't tell if it's louder or quieter? any chance of measuring the decibel difference?
Yeah, i have a DB meter.. but far too much echo in my place, scrambles the reading, ill have to do it outdoors for best effect, so maybe once its finished..!
Great Vid Del, keep them coming
Nice improvement Del
Pitty about the loss of the side stand though
I presume you mean centre stand Nick, but you don't have to remove it at all, that's just a choice to capitalise on the weight saving, it's perfectly ok to run the main stand if you wish, in fact, TEC will provide free of charge a striker plate in the kit to act as a stop for the stand, which you'll need having removed the left pipe which it used to strike against... it will look a little odd with the big stand hook sticking out in the absence of the pipe, but it still functions perfectly normally!
Love it👍🏻 sounds awesome and must handle better to being that it’s a lot lighter. 👍🏻
I reckon so!
Great video. I'm late to the game but can we get a long term review of the pipes? I am curious how the hold up to normal wear and tear.
And not a stuck manifold stud in sight. Must have been a joy to simply take the pipes off 😉
Yes indeed mate, a pleasure for once not to need the penetrating oil.
Any recommendations for a 22 T120 with welds on the xpipe?
Some guy that looks like our friend Del worked on a bike. Could not have been him though. Bike was clean and no rusted bolts.
Aha, you found me out! It was a breath of fresh air for once not to need the penetrating oil! Hope you're well Sir, take care.
Nice one as usual
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks, that would work.
@@Moonfleet41 That was exactly my question. I figured that on my T120, I need to put it on the center stand to complete the removal of the converter, and then back to the side stand after everything is tied up and then proceed with the removal of the center stand... Makes sense?
Or maybe the solution is to remove the converter from the other side....
Jesus Christ, I’m in love! 🙌
Kwel!!! Sounds awesome!!
@@Moonfleet41 thank you for the information I've sent an email to TEC to confirm.
Ah ha, so, does that make me Your stalker, or are you My stalker..?.. either way, happy to help buddy, we must be kindred spirits i recon.!
Hello, is this a euro 4 or euro 5 model of the cat converter, I know some are welded I just don't know which one? Mine looks as it might be welded and wont come out the same I don't think. Thanks
This bike was Euro 4 mate.
@Moonfleet41 do you know if I can get the cat out using your method on the euro 5 model? I know it has those pipe extensions weldex to the cat
is it possible to leave center stand on with this setup?
Yes my friend, it most certainly is, it is designed to accommodate the stand, so if you're going to keep yours, make it clear with your order when you contact TEC and they will include a free bracket that fits on the left hand side for the centre stand to strike against in the rest position!
@@Moonfleet41 thank you :)
Del... You are a neat mechanic 😉 a pleasure to watch your projects on all motorcycles you work on. 👌
Thank you kindly Laurie, really glad you enjoy the videos!
I'm a no baffle boy 😂😂😂 louder the better 😁
Nice one del and penny 🤘
I have to admit to being the same brother.. make it loud and proud..!
(P) Great camera work PP! & Well explained fitting Del, simple stuff for anyone to change 😀 Look forward to more 👍🏻
Thanks buddy.. good to hear from you, and PP says hi.... we hope you're all well and keeping safe, looks like the madness isn't going away for the moment.. Lets catch up soon aye mate..(That's if we're aloud out lol)
Nice work👌👌
Does the cat need to be installed for MOT to pass emissions test?
There is currently no emissions test for motorcycles on the MOT !
@@Moonfleet41 oh sh*t. I didn't know that 🤣 thanks
Great video - thanks Del. Looks a nice after market system from Tec. Welding on the new link pipe looks a bit grim though. All the best.
Why are the headers joined in a "T" configuration and not a "Y" configuration? Great videos.
I see you've been firing this question in a few times, perhaps direct it at the manufacturers / supplier, "TEC Bike Parts".. their link is in the description..!
@@Moonfleet41 thanks very much. Will do just that.
Thoroughly enjoyed that Del, you must be getting really popular as 2 adds during the vid , can i have ya autograph lol
Hi buddy, I don't give autographs mate, as I'd have to learnt o write joined up first lol... seriously thanks buddy, I think You Tube are on the march with their ad campaigns as we're all getting lots of mid-roll ads currently and there's not much we can do about it... thanks for your kind words Mike.
@@Moonfleet41 im happy with the ten min free view \!!!! whoops wrong channel
That sound is just a bonus for goodness sake, & as you've dropped two stone, you can eat more cake . . . sweet result.
(The filming etc. is getting too good on these vids; just remember, the better you get, the more we'll take for granted! : ) x
Well there is a fair point there mate.. "Rod for our own back" and all that... but hey, maybe we're just getting more used to it. !
Good video.
Will this increase the overall power of the latest t100?
Read up on the TEC website (I've left a link in the description), there are lot's of benefits as well as power, naturally the huge saving in weight which will vastly improve handling, and with other mods such as the fuel plug, and even the TEC cam upgrade, you can really make them fly..! (metaphorically)..
Sounds like a bike that will turn a couple of heads!
