Del, once again I am struck by your ability to demonstrate and explain things simply and completely. Good show! I've said it before but I give your channel the most credit for giving me the confidence to tackle jobs I would have once consider out of my reach. Thank you so much for that.
You're most welcome John, that's the aim, if we can, just to inspire a little confidence to give it a go, it's just assembly, pure nuts and bolts, and on a job like this with these kind of parts, everything slots straight on and fits first time, so no hurdles to overcome, just the joy of doing your own upgrades!
I have to concur with John Rest. I have done jobs on my bandit 1200s that I would have never tried without watching and recording your videos Many Thanks!!
Thanks Davie, glad they could help you mate, we both appreciate your kind words.
Cried when you removed the centre stand!! (I'm old fashioned!!)😌. The rest of it... nice!!!
I can relate to that, but in reality, once you take away the left hand silencer, it looks a bit daft with the huge foot lever stuck right out..! maybe a more slimline stand like on the big Tiger adventure bikes would work as a replacement.!
@@Moonfleet41 Delboy, doesn't TEC provide a stopper bracket so that it can be used with a centre stand?
Agree Phil, but having just fitted the Tec exhaust the main stand looks horrid hanging out the side! So I’ve removed it, it hangs on the wall and if need it for maintenance work I pop it on, 2 minute job! 👍
This is probably the best channel explaining how to work on your bike and what to check. I learn something every time. Great work.
I installed the British Customs GP full exhaust today on my T120. This tutorial was a massive help, & w/o it I probably wouldn't have been able to do it on my own. Thank you!
Most welcome Zac. Glad it helped you out, i bet that sounds awesome !!
Wow Del. Thank you for expanding my knowledge on bikes. Never have seen where the pipes are connected using a tight spring. That is just awesome. Love learning new things on your channel.
Thanks buddy, glad you enjoyed the video!... hope you and family are keeping safe and well there, stay in touch, D&Px
Beautiful lines on that TEC exhaust. The shape and sweep just look so right! An added plus, is now the lucky owner can eat many more roadside cafe sarnies and still have a lighter bike, hee hee
Damn right i recon, love the way the header pipes follow the line of the frame and in a bit closer too, unlike the factory down pipes that stick out too far and a ta different angle... and damn right too, a Full English is now no worries..!
Baffle out for sure. It sounds wonderful and the weight saving omg
I've got to that age where the first thing I do when I buy a 2nd hand bike is put a stock exhaust back on it! My son is constantly at me about the how the exhaust on my r1 looks like a lamp post but I like the standard noise and the funny thing was the after market one that was on it was heavier. The other thing is I think (maybe misguided) is that you can go faster with a stock exhaust without attracting any attention, other people think you're going too fast when they hear a loud pipe even if you're not going full pelt.
Good 'how to' video though.
haha lamp post, post of the day! Ride safe mate.
Del, you made the cat removal simpler than other channels, I removed mine on a speed twin and replaced it with an X-pipe (TEC), quite a fiddly exercise as I recall. I fitted the Vance and Hines silencers and what a sound improvement!
Thank John, it's amazing how much sound is sucked away by the cat itself, and a much better performance too on the Speed Twin aye.
Best sound is new exhaust with baffle
Agree
Looks awesome! I like the sound of the new exhaust with the baffle in.
By far the best bike channel on RUclips, hats off Del. Proper talented mechanic, I need to pop by with my Tec exhaust, on order! 👍🏻
Hi Oli, Thank you so much for those kind words mate, thats very kind of you, im glad the videos are useful and that you enjoy them, thanks for your kind support. Del.
Great video as always Del. The T120 Black looks great. Real contender for my next bike.
Wow, what a weight saving and what a beautiful exhaust system, music from the machine.
Yeah, i think so too Andy, proper hooligan with the baffle out, and a nice finish too.
Love that bike, absolutely stunning. i would love one
You're a born instructor. No waffle, maximum information and clear directions.
Thank you Ian.
Fantastic work, film, bike, exhaust, and the new sound 🔊🔊🔊. Awesome the weight reduction
An amazing difference, good job 😎👍🏼
Man thats a beautiful exhaust system for that bike Del...makes a great note as well!...i really like triumph motorcycles....
Major upgrade, sounds deep and angry 🤘🏻
Very clear and concise, good instructional Del.
Thanks you most kindly sir, it was a pleasure to fit this system, really easy and nicely made..! have a good week and take care. D&Pxx
I really enjoy watching you work. Maybe it's the Faro shirt, it looks great on you!
XOXO
Great tips n explanation about heat cycling and ecu adjustment. Nice work sir.
Hey Jon, thanks mate, straightforward enough, and oh the wonders of modern technology, when I think back to the 1980's putting a Motad exhaust on a bike meant re-jetting carbs, usually with hit and miss results, and always a long drawn out process, there's much to be said for a modern ECU!
@@Moonfleet41 yessir. Modern technology makes the good ole days nostalgic at best. But those days helped me always find a way to fix not just replace my parts n bikes. And yet I kinda still miss 2 stroke street bikes in a masochistic way.🤯🤣
@@jonelliott9627 I cannot argue with that mate, I had a GT380 with a Micron 3-into-1, proper banshee... made me the hooligan I am!
Wow! That sounds amazing even with the baffle in. Let alone when taken out. Thanks for the schooling once again. Have a great day:)
Thanks Robert, have a great weekend yourself!
Best job !! thx 4 the video.Great sound !! brutal !! suena de maravilla , sobretodo sin el dbkiller , gracias por tus videos !!👍✌
Much much better. Good looking bike.
amazing sound without the baffle !!! another great video.!!! keep it up bro !!
Del you are sent by the gods ,i have been dreading dismantling the frame and without watching this i would have gone blindly in taking the tank off taking that top bolt completely out giving myself needless grief . thankyou !
You're most welcome mate, we make these videos for just this reason, so it's great to know it could help you out.. !
@@Moonfleet41 I kid you not i bought a new 2022 speed twin sent off to oz for the verex exhaust took the exhaust off but triumph have welded the cat exit pipes on but the exhaust company assure me but doing exactly as you've shown plus maybe removing one bolt from the other side of the rear of the frame it'll wriggle out the tip on the tank and bolt tip are going to save me a lot of grief
Great Vid Del, keep them coming
Your vidoes are excellent as usual. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
It looks a lot better with new pipes....Great Job Del 👏 and Penny and You Del Ride Safely and Have A wonderful Week.
Hey Paul, thanks as ever for your kind words, hoping you're keeping safe there during these virus times, stay well and always great to hear from you, D&Px
Wonderful, Highly appreciate it. 👍🙏
Nice video Del, kinda like your old Bonnie videos from several years ago. I bought a 2009 Thruxton back then after being inspired by all your mods. I fitted a Tec 2 into 2 shortie system to that bike and wow it sounded great. I did put the baffles back in after 6 months as it was so loud, even with ear plugs in!
Ha ha.. they're supposed to be loud mate.. maybe our hearing gets more sensitive as we age rather then slowly going deaf..!
thanks Del for your reply.....it just goes to show that exhaust theory is alot more complicated than plumbing ...keep up the good work
Exactly mate, there's always more to it, thankfully we don't have to pay for such development, we just get the finished product at a great price.
Fantastic video bike looked amazing with the standard pipes off stay safe looking forward to next one 🇬🇧👍🏻
Thanks Richard, you are very kind mate, you stay safe too, crazy times aye.
@@Moonfleet41 yes mate they are
Great video, Del, and what an upgrade! Looks quality and sound, all get a major thumbs up!!
Hey Allen, great to hear form your Sir, hope you're well over there? I guess as autumn rolls in, the dark months are coming, let's hope we can ride as long as possible. Sure it becomes a winter layup over there once the snow comes? Keep safe and stay in touch, D&Px
@@Moonfleet41 Yeah, couple nights with frost on roofs already! Fall storms and falling leaves happening now, and going to work in the dark already. Bike lay-up usually happens by the third week in Oct, but you can bet that I'm still working to make up for lost time! Ride safe you two!
Great video mate! Ive been dreading doing the cat on my Speed Twin! Thanks for the vid
No problem 👍
Great video - thanks Del. Looks a nice after market system from Tec. Welding on the new link pipe looks a bit grim though. All the best.
Great video. Great trick and well explained. 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
Outstanding demo
Nice - perfectly explained 👌
Not a job that I will be doing any time in the near future, but at the same time was very impressed how well you explained it all Managed to make, what I thought would be something complex, into a straightforward nuts and bolts job. New exhaust definitely sounds much more "grunteer"!
Got yourself a new subscriber here 👍
Thanks Mate!
Thank you Sean, and welcome aboard mate, am glad you enjoyed the video... we have a more recent exhaust fitting video, putting a high level on an early model Scrambler! Take care and have a great weekend.
Thanks for the video
Sounds and looks much better.
Great job Del, sounds sweet and looks cool with the new pipe. Penny and you have a good week and stay safe mate. Cheers
Hi mate, thanks for your kind words, always appreciated... we hope life is ok there with you, this is difficult time for many, so stay safe and keep in touch, all the very best, D&Px
(P) Great camera work PP! & Well explained fitting Del, simple stuff for anyone to change 😀 Look forward to more 👍🏻
Thanks buddy.. good to hear from you, and PP says hi.... we hope you're all well and keeping safe, looks like the madness isn't going away for the moment.. Lets catch up soon aye mate..(That's if we're aloud out lol)
Man you are the greatest example of quality instruction.
Thank You!
Nice video Del. I love the sound with the baffle in. It gives me the feeling that the sound without the baffle, although louder, is a bit hollow.
You're not wrong Abz' it does have more of a hollow sound, but the full baffle also makes it sound a but 'fluffy... the best sound is to cut the baffle in half, so it's open, but removes the hollow resonance. ! kind or the best of both sounds.!
2 stone weight saving, got to be good, also sounds very nice, good tidy job thanks for posting 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Pete 👍
Great to see you back working on a Triumph Del, editing is brilliant as usual, like the sweat shirt I want one!
Much appreciated Richard, glad you enjoyed the video... and yes, cool shirt aye, it was gift from a friend!
Del that pipe looks lovely nice job mate.
Superbe travail vraiment très professionnel,j’adore comment vous travaillez 👍
Most welcome, and thank you for your kind words.
Nice work👌👌
Perfect job! A+++
Love it👍🏻 sounds awesome and must handle better to being that it’s a lot lighter. 👍🏻
I reckon so!
Looks great, baffle out sounds the best, I’d keep the Centre stand though.⚙️🔩🔧👍
Like it with the baffle, love it without. Looks great. That’s incredible weight reduction in such a simple mod. No center stand needed with a shop like that
Couldn't agree more buddy, incredibly transformation aye!
How to make a perfect bike perfecter 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 brilliant del as always
Hi Hatthew, "Perfecter" ! im going to use that word at least three times this week... awesome.! thanks buddy.
Really helpful video, I was wondering about the Lambda sensors! but I didn't need to remove rear footpegs, just jammed a screwdriver into the bolt head, and undo it from the other side, no faffing about with split pins that way :)
Love you del. Keep up the good work!!!
Appreciate it mate!
Your videos are so much better than a lot of the rest out there.
Thanks mate, thats very kind..
Great video. I have had no interest at all in changing the stock pipes but I think you make just changed my mind. Thanks for taking the time to walk us through the process too. Top man.
Hey Mark, that sounds good, if you take that inspiration just from this video, then check out the following video I made, where I finished the make-over and took the bike for a ride... there's lots of sound bites in that and a real feel of how it is out on the road... so check that out, it may confirm your decision! And if you couple it with a few other upgrades too, certainly the fuel plug you will really notice the difference in your bike.
@@Moonfleet41 Another excellent video. One question... this exhaust is a full decat - Do you know if this will effect MOT? Thanks again.
@@itsmemarkt No mate, as there are no emission regulations on motorcycles whatsoever, so fir the baffle and your MOT man will be happy.
Hi Delboy - I went ahead and ordered the exhaust and followed your vid when installing. I’m 99% there but I’ve run into two issues - 1) my rear brake lever fouls the exhaust 2) My springs seem a lot looser than yours.
Did you need to make any adjustments to solve these issues?
@@itsmemarkt Hi Mark, firstly congratulations on taking the plunge!... let's sort out those two small issues... your brake lever is close to the exhaust, but it shouldn't foul it, so it may need some adjustment to just shift it a little inwards so it clears... I covered everything in my video, but if it's possible there may be an anomaly with the exhaust, you could contact George at TEC who may have come across that problem and know how to advise you........ but am sure it's just a case of loosening off the headers and getting everything wriggles in to place, remember like I said in the video, it's important to get that link pipe under the engine installed all the way in as far as it can go, otherwise that could be why your right hand pipe is sticking out a little............ as far as the springs go, I had a couple like that, and all you need to do is 'GENTLY' bend the loops that are welded to the pipe away from each other a little to widen the gap... I moved mine maybe 5mm each and the spring was taught.... George covers this in his video as well! Hope that helps, let us know how you get on!
Much nicer look with the Rebel Exhaust.
Some guy that looks like our friend Del worked on a bike. Could not have been him though. Bike was clean and no rusted bolts.
Aha, you found me out! It was a breath of fresh air for once not to need the penetrating oil! Hope you're well Sir, take care.
Spot on Del, I followed every step and all is fitted mate. Only issue I had, the exhaust springs were very loose, even checked to make sure all the pipes were in line and full connected. The springs seem too big mate, I might just use lock wire instead. I can do a tidy job that way. 👍🏻
Hi Oli, i had the same with mine, two of my springs were loose, you can just use some pliers and bend back the loops on the pipe a little at each end of the spring and it'll tighten up..works every time buddy.! Good choice on the exhaust, i hope you like the sound, im running mine with a Thruxton baffle in, nice and loud but not hollow or empty sounding.. TEC have them if you want one.! have fun and ride safe aye.. Del.
That’s made a nice job of the bike looks more lighter and it sounds just nice. That’s some weight lose o man I’d say it will feel so different when riding nice job 👍🏻
Sure thing buddy, that is an astonishing amount of weight to shed just be changing an exhaust!
Just watched the Video Del. Great job you and penny stay safe
Hey Gerry, good to hear from you, thanks for your kind words, we're keeping safe here, hope you are too, stay in touch mate, D&Px
Great work as always I'm not saying it will work in this case but where I've completely needed to remove a bolt and the nut would be difficult to relocate I have used a little hot glue just to hold the nut in place provided I could unbolt the last few threads by hand
That's a cool trick Ken, and I can see the common sense in that, fortunately Triumph have thought this one through, they know it's a totally inaccessible nut, but they give you just enough room to put a spanner on it and they make it a lock nut, so when you undo it, you can take it right to the end of the bolt and it will stay there... and thanks again for the glue trick, noted for the future!
Nice one as usual
Nice Bonny Del . a lot of dead weight removed there mate cracking result Tec exhaust looks well nice 😊looking at some tec for the interceptor . Just fitted the levers and the quality it very nice indeed 👍
Yes, what a lot of weight indeed, definitely going to make a difference in the swervery, and check out TEC's Stinger exhausts for your bike, you know you want one!
Fantastic video, congrats.
Thank you very much!
Great Video Del 👏👏👌🏻👍😎
Glad you enjoyed it Chris, good to hear from you mate!
Likes: no distracting, annoying background music. I like the look of the stock black exhaust and stock sound, but I’m conflicted with the significant weight saving as a trade-off for the Rebel exhaust.
Dislikes: the welding on the Rebel exhaust looks amateurish. The Rebel exhaust noise and popping sounds Asian. I don’t care for the Rebel exhaust color either on the Bonneville.
We use rubbing alcohol to wipe down S.S. in my shop and a second wipe with a clean paper towel (in spite of the paper shortage).
PS your video production is really first-class-good show!
Good video.
I'm not sure what's going on between us(my Mrs thinks we're chatting). I purchase my first Harley- a Dyna a little while ago. Within weeks, you too purchased a harley & watching you, gave me the b#lls to do my own servicing etc. 2 months ago, I purchased a brand new T100 black. Which I understand is structurally very simular to the T120. So I'm very much looking forward to following you progress on this bike.
Ah ha, so, does that make me Your stalker, or are you My stalker..?.. either way, happy to help buddy, we must be kindred spirits i recon.!
Way to work Del, looks and sounds great. I personally would like the baffle in keeping as much low end torque as possible, assuming the scavenging is better with it in. It does bark nicely with the baffle out and would probably sound amazing ripping down the highway. 🍻
Sure thing buddy, the baffle sadly is a little over restrictive and denies you the full development of the exhaust, but wide open does bellow a little at the same time, so the best option is actually to cut the baffle in half, as the guys at TEC have suggested, this cuts down on the hollow echo of the open pipe and allows, at the same time, a nice flow to breathe and the pipe work's then as designed.
Delboy's Garage Right on! Thanks for the tip Del.
I'm a no baffle boy 😂😂😂 louder the better 😁
Nice one del and penny 🤘
I have to admit to being the same brother.. make it loud and proud..!
sounds alot better....im not convinced about exhaust flow through that T junction when there looks to be space for something of a Y junction.
I didn't design it, but speaking to the guy who did, the T-piece provides back pressure and increases low down torque, the fast the flow, the more revs you need, and there was extensive dyno development to create this exhaust, and having ridden it, it seriously works, more low down grunt than normal and a really pleasing torque surge from as a low as 2k revs!
Kwel!!! Sounds awesome!!
Sounds like a bike that will turn a couple of heads!
That sound is just a bonus for goodness sake, & as you've dropped two stone, you can eat more cake . . . sweet result.
(The filming etc. is getting too good on these vids; just remember, the better you get, the more we'll take for granted! : ) x
Well there is a fair point there mate.. "Rod for our own back" and all that... but hey, maybe we're just getting more used to it. !
Deff baffle out, sounds bloody glorious, just glad we are not neighbours Del lol..
Neighbours? Three of them have bikes and they love it!!
@@Moonfleet41 Lucky sod! Im the only biker in the street... caused a few raised eyebrows when i removed the baffles from my GSX1400's Black widow exhaust, purely in the interest of research you understand...must put em back in one day.
@@philboboggins Sterling work Sir, if you're annoying the neighbours, then you're keeping the faith and doing something right... most of the time they disapprove because they wish they had such excitement in their lives!
Great vid, helped enormously when I fitted one to my T100. One problem, the brake fouls with the exhaust even without the 12mm spacer! With it fitted can’t use the brake, is it a different brake lever on the T100?
Check this directly with 'TEC bike parts' as they have all the specifications and can guide you on any unique fitment issues you may be having..!
Jesus Christ, I’m in love! 🙌
I bet it makes a change to work on a relatively new bike. No corrosion and nothing in danger of snapping or rounding off.
It syre does buddy, a real treat not to need the penetrating oil!
I was enthralled with the thoroughness of the explanation! I only wish the centerstand was able to be retained.
It certainly is mate, if when you buy your exhaust you let TEC Bike Parts know that you want to retain your centrestand, they will include the free bracket and rubber block for the stand to rest against which fits on the left side of the bike... just make that clear when ordering! Merry Christmas mate.
Sounds awesome but I can't tell if it's louder or quieter? any chance of measuring the decibel difference?
Yeah, i have a DB meter.. but far too much echo in my place, scrambles the reading, ill have to do it outdoors for best effect, so maybe once its finished..!
Nice that sounds great mate! Gotta love TEC for the build quality to a price point. Any issues with lack of back pressure running these baffles out? I've done a decat on my Bobber with Tridents and they don't recommend losing the baffles as there's only so much the ECU can adjust for (they are very free flowing though). To be honest my ears were bleeding without baffles so I've left them in , though I did cut them down by half. 😉 I love your care and attention to the standard parts as well , if only all mechanics showed as much love. 👍
Hi mate, great to hear from you, and yes indeed, it's so important to carefully preserve factory parts, they're all now wrapped in cloth and poly peanuts and tucked away in the loft for posterity, they're practically brand new, so some day, they'll have value to someone! With the baffle, I'm going half and half, running a Thruxton baffle, which is like the I showed, except cut down to 1" long and a little bigger bore, you can buy them from TEC and they recommend them too, as like you say, it gives that optimum back pressure, but still nice and open and comfortably louder, not bellowing and hollow!
RHS looks great, not so sure about the Left, doesn't look right with the pipe diving under the front of the engine
I like the dual exhaust look on the classic bikes.
Great video. I'm late to the game but can we get a long term review of the pipes? I am curious how the hold up to normal wear and tear.
Thoroughly enjoyed that Del, you must be getting really popular as 2 adds during the vid , can i have ya autograph lol
Hi buddy, I don't give autographs mate, as I'd have to learnt o write joined up first lol... seriously thanks buddy, I think You Tube are on the march with their ad campaigns as we're all getting lots of mid-roll ads currently and there's not much we can do about it... thanks for your kind words Mike.
@@Moonfleet41 im happy with the ten min free view \!!!! whoops wrong channel
Nice vid xden
I have to say Del I prefer the baffle in and could do with it being a black exhaust ;-) ; is it just me or did that end can weld (at 17:27) look like a child had done it?
I too noticed the welds 😬
It would be pretty cool to ceracote the system, or you can alternatively mirror polish it, it is top quality stainless. They are supplied in a brush satin finish, which is great because that keeps the cost down and you can choose if you want to spend the extra money for a ceramic coating or polishing.
@@Moonfleet41 polishing? what's that? I've gone for understated now I'm older. You mean keep the costs down to pay for proper welding, not monkey welds, how did they look to you Del? They look pretty shocking to me/us!
@@andyhunter2324 Ha ha, sounds a bit like that welding snobbery i spoke of last week... TBH mate, ive seen worse welds on a lot of well known and popular race cans, and take a squint at the Factory welds on the Cat heat shield at 10:00 ! and there are half a dozen more welds on the bike that you would find 'scathe worthy' im sure..! it is what it is mate.. a full two into one system for £289 !!!!!!
@@Moonfleet41 not a bad price, and I'm not a weld snob (I bought a welder, two actually after watching your videos), I like to have a go at new skills, just done up my Sporty - no welding, just callipers and master cylinders rebuilds and other bits and bobs, keep up the great content - it inspires more than you think.
10 minute reset. I dont think it changes mapping to suit new exhaust. Think it resets adaptive and idle. I used to have the rocket.
Sounds and looks awesome btw
And not a stuck manifold stud in sight. Must have been a joy to simply take the pipes off 😉
Yes indeed mate, a pleasure for once not to need the penetrating oil.
You are a master of your craft Del! Clear precise instructions with all the minushia of understanding just what's to be expected. Does the centre stand HAVE to go with this exhaust system or are you just trying to shed weight?
Thank you for your kind words im glad you enjoyed the video. I believe, from memory, that this exhaust does foul on the stand on the cross pipe... but if you check the link in the description, it will take you to the TEC website for the pipe and it will make it clear on there..
That weight reduction alone is going to make such a difference to the bikes performance, handling and braking. Looks and sounds so much better.
You're dead right my friend, weight reduction is a legitimate performance enhancing attribute!
You gotta let us know how Penny feels about her bike now, I'm pretty sure the throttle should be snappier now. Nice tips on the exhaust.
Nice improvement Del
Pitty about the loss of the side stand though
I presume you mean centre stand Nick, but you don't have to remove it at all, that's just a choice to capitalise on the weight saving, it's perfectly ok to run the main stand if you wish, in fact, TEC will provide free of charge a striker plate in the kit to act as a stop for the stand, which you'll need having removed the left pipe which it used to strike against... it will look a little odd with the big stand hook sticking out in the absence of the pipe, but it still functions perfectly normally!
Any recommendations for a 22 T120 with welds on the xpipe?
