I’m pretty sure the only processing I used was making sure that the levels were acceptable for RUclips because it was a little low in camera

Oops just checked and I had Waves Debreath, 20% FCPX voice isolation, and a light limiter on to ensure no clipping. but you are right, no processing would've been better.

@@adamtalkstech Hi. You are using a gate, or at least editing silence, which is very obvious in certain parts. Plus, Stats for Nerds in the RUclips player is suggesting that you are using a limiter and audibly your final output does sound a bit limited (or lacking a full dynamic range). Not that I think gating and/or limiting are a bad thing. I use a limiter myself on my exports to get the maximum -14 LUFS for RUclips with my dialogue. However, when comparing microphones you really do need to keep everything flat and only balance the mix with levels (faders), after setting an optimal gain stage and record level. I appreciate that a gate does not effect tonal or frequency response but it does mask the natural noise characteristics of the source, as in, a noisy 7B. Also, if you did use a limiter, then this can alter tonal characteristics due to the compressing of the high dynamics and overall re-summing, which will impact EQ and therefore tone. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a really well produced and presented video but as soon as I noticed the gating, I was immediately questioning the dynamics and sonic purity for how you balanced the different mics. @@adamtalkstech Ah, OK. I'm actually surprised that there was more processing going on than what I had suspected in my previous comment. You may want to be carful with some of that psychoacoustic post processing. It's fine for standard voice/dialogue processing for RUclips videos etc. But should be completely avoided when comparing microphones, especially when you are trying to prove a point. As good as the MKH is, even it wouldn't have been a true example, as even voice isolation software, as opposed to a traditional gate, will impact the recording beyond just a simply gate or duck. Great sounding mic. I could hear the difference and didn't like the sound of AT875R but to be honest couldn't hear a difference with MKE600. Maybe its RUclips compression or I'm listening to it with Bose computer speakers. I've noticed without headphones if there isn't a big difference it's hard to pick up on it but thanks for sharing. Not doubt if you can afford it...

MKE600 for me has been pretty inconsistent when I've used it, but I can hear a difference through Adam Audio monitors and my MacBook pro speakers

@@adamtalkstech If you work with audio or video long enough, things that wound never bothered me I pickup on and want it "right" no matter what even if the average person wouldn't notice. So I understand.

it sounds too dull sounding in my opinion. I think you should sell it and just get the Sennheiser 416. Otherwise just save your money and keep using the 875R, because it sounded just as good

See I disagree. I hear more of a 3d sound with the mkh50 than the 875r. Also smoother on high end to me.
Crispness of the 416 wouldn’t work well with my voice.
